Random BSOD on Satellite A500-1E4

I get random errors of the kernel data inpage / Ntfs.sys type BSOD on my psar9e Satellite A500-1E4

Memtest is fine,

Hard drive is a ssd corsair-ish (I know, guaranteed broke probably change the disc had mistakes on the old disk)
Old drive is eSata connected and used for external storage.
the drivers are all updated, even used "Driver genius" driver-soft (I know that a lot of things malwary is hidden in programs like this but this one is legitimate)

Malwarebytes, spybot s & d and AVG give him the green light.

Got several gels without BSOD in IDE so I changed msahci beginning at 0 and bios change, so it is in ahci mode, it is more stable, but as I said I get these odd errors at irregular intervals, sometimes it can be just a few hours apart, sometimes several days.

tried to reinstall the hard disk drivers too.
EventViewer shows nothing worth notice.

Any ideas?

> Edit: Oh! I forgot to mention, these problems seem to be mostly on online such as youtube and vimeo videos, and others, is not affect vlc I think, don't have not noticed them there at least. so, it is probably just a buggy flash version in my chrome browser.

I found a few interesting material online that may help solve your problem of streaming media.
I could be you may need to update the driver of the TSRI

Today I have updated the bios to 1.60 (from 1.20) and there has been no change. What laptop power battery in normal fashion fan and high performance race to 60-70% (loud sound) and in the economy mode to 80% (very noisy). It's crazy that in economic mode produce more noise than mode high performance. The CPU temperature is cca. 37-43 C, GPU 48-57. Fans of course never stops and all it's standart office. No intensive work or games. I can't imagine in games.

Can someone help me please, I'm really helpless. Or this fixes only bios 1.30 and next version not?

    Hey Buddy,

I think that it of really difficult to say why this happens, but in my opinion you should provide more details about your operating system and drivers.
Are you running the Toshiba factory settings or you have installed another OS?
Fan sometimes high activity is due to a different display driver. Have you installed the latest display driver form Toshiba (NOT nvidia)?

Googling around you will find many forums and discussions, describing the same BSOD. I think the problem is probably graphics card and driver graphics card.

  • Satellite A500: card reader cause BSOD

Hi I have a satellite A500 and its card reader (jmicron) is dead.
It is for me a bsod.
I solved my problem without installing driver jmicron and use xp.
In win 7 gives me a bsod always because win 7 driver jmicron.

    My question is:
Can I remove the motherboard card reader?

    Sorry for my English thanks

No, you can't do that I think that the card reader is part of the mobo and it s not removable.
But you can turn off the card reader in Device Manager.

  • Satellite A500-19w - BSOD BCCode 9 - BAD_POOL_HEADER

    Hey everybody

About 2 weeks ago, I bought a Toshiba Satellite A500-19w. Have been crackling sounds from the speakers, but also error blue screen & restart.
So I decided that I wanted a refund because it was out of the question for me to keep a laptop that has been hurt since the first day.

The Bank refused to give me my money back, instead they gave me a new laptop (the same Satellite A500-19w).

Now, I have the same exact problems, but since I will not get my money, I'm stuck with it.
I've had the laptop for 3 days now, and only today I had 4 blue screen errors (the last 3 times, after windows restarted, I don't even have a log of the error so that I could post it here).

But from what I remember, it was a BCCode 19, & during the last blue screen that I had, I saw "BAD_POOL_HEADER".
I was going through the forums desperately try to find a solution, but have not found anything so far.
I don't know what the problem is, I really need help.

My OS is a Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium.
    (All A500-19w normal sheet example 1 g Ram, 230 M nVIDIA VGA...).

    I really really need help.
I have a lot of work to do and this laptop is the only tool I have.
I don't have access to other computers.

    Help, please.

And one more thing, service of Toshiba Tempro advised me a new update of the BIOS, but when I tried to get it, he told me that ' you seem to have the same version or newer "or something like that & the update did not work.
Yet once, please, I'm desperate for help.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I think the problem is software partner.
The google provides many successes on the BSOD BCCode 19 and the BAD_POOL_HEADER

Unfortunately, it is not easy to say which application or a driver could cause this because its always a different software...

But you can check the minidump file to obtain more details on the error...

Here is a document of Microsoft Knowledge on how to play files of dump Windows creates the memory.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315263

It should help to find the source of the BSOD

  • Satellite U940 - Random BSOD after replacing HARD drive

    Good day ladies and gentlemen!

I was wondering if I can win some lights here - as I google myself in a bunch of flange on the issue, I have!

I am a famous computer technician (modest too) and more recently, a client of mine introduced me to a ultrabook Satellite U940 - lovingly with the SSD / HDD Raid 0 configuration running our beloved Windows 8.

All things according to their entire course - Hitachi hard drive failed (as google tells me is to be expected).

So, I replace the hard drive by a great little number Western Digital, cloned from Hitachi, sector by sector, and after a significant cajoling with bcdedit and bootrec amount, I could so he could begin our good liked Windows 8.

However, since then, I have random BSOD, cold boots failed and all sorts of errors.

I ran all the regular patches - SFC/scannow, chkdsk/r, Windows 8 repair facilities, etc., but it is still volatile jolly.

Things seem not to be as they were with this Satellite little ol '-before any repair, the peripheral device manager showed two "RAID 0' in the category of hard drives, and since then it shows the individual SSD and the WD HARD drive."

I've updated the driver for the Intel Rapid Storage at latest on the Toshiba site, but nothing helps - alas!
The weird part is that if I do a reboot on this little beauty, she starts without any problems, but a start cold after a power off is a completely different question - dummy - spit crashing, dumping, in general!

If there is a troubleshooting there champion who can destroy my help in this situation, I'd be very impressed and never have if they could provide assistance in this regard.

Unfortunately Microsoft - are we are all end by using these products of ever-so-pretty Appl?

    Hello

I read in some discussions here in this forum only after replacing the disk SSD or HARD drive, the RAID configuration is lost and must be rebuilt on a device Windows 8.

But this can be done very easily, and this can be corrected by an authorized Toshiba because this procedure requires special tools and utilities.

Unfortunately, it seems to me that you will need to contact the ASP in your country to get this problem resolved :(

  • Can satellite A500 - I install Windows 7 64 bit?

I first bought a Satellite A500 with 4 GB of RAM there are a little over 3 months with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium installed. Initially, I got the original dramas with finding drivers 64-bit etc., then it ran OK for a while. After about 2 & a half months I started having BSOD with error message related to a nvidia .sys file. After a few weeks of this, update the latest drivers etc and a number of unsuccessful attempts to diagnose the problem, it's that occur whenever I used the laptop and up he took the touchpad died as well. The company I bought at gave me a laptop replacement.

The new system is also a Satellite A500, and although it has a different model number and a CPU faster it is also virtually identical to the one I had already with 4 GB of RAM and graphics card from nvidia at the same address. However, for some reason Windows 7 32 bit has been pre-installed. I don't know why the company has not installed the 64-bit. A call to the dept tech with the issue gave rise to the answer "better for you", which means that 32-bit is better for me.

My laptop is capable of 64-bit. I know that when you run the 32-bit version, it uses only up to 3.2 GB of installed RAM (my system says 2.99 GB is usable - assume the rest is allocated to graphics?) but I read a post where the poster says it is running 32 bit Win 7 was actually faster than the 64-bit version though even he was not using all the RAM.

    * Can someone tell me if I'm running the 32-bit version of Windows 7 rather than the 64-bit version better? *

    * If I'm better with 64-bit, can I switch to 64-bit or what I need to do a complete reinstall? * No installation disk provided. Assume that the installation files are on the hidden partition.

Although I have not had a BSOD with this new laptop, I had a couple of instances where the system froze temporarily with the messge "your display driver has stopped working" followed by a recovery. Is this a thing Toshiba, nvidia or Windows 7? I have read quite a few other posts of people with laptops similar to mine who have had the same mistakes of Toshiba/nvidia but no resolution. * If it's going to be a problem with the graphics card, I'm better off the coast with 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7? *

Any advice would be appreciated muchly.

    Hello

I a500 and run Windows Ultimate 64-bit, it's best to run 64-bit to 32-bit windows. You must copy of 64-bit Windows to install, it is not big problem to get it. All the drivers you can find on the Toshiba driver page:

  • Satellite A500-1DN - crashing everything by playing games

    Hi all

About 2 months ago, my friend bought a Toshiba satellite A500-1DN. After about 2 weeks, she decided to put 2 games on it (guildwars and jedi knight academy). We quickly realized that after about 1 hour of playing, the computer would crash to a black screen, rather than return to a blue screen of death. That meant there was no indication of what was causing the problem specifically and no dumps mini windows...
Having trouble with these specific games myself on Windows 7, I thought about the games.

A week later, she spent an hour watching videos to youtube to see his computer crashed in the same way as the game. So I put some on the computer diagnostic software. CPU / GPU overheating? But nothing, the temperatures are stable and supported and certainly wouldn t have been the cause of these accidents, unless I unfortunately missed the point where he did more heat cache-shoulders so I not outrule not he...
Because of the problem it seems to be up to now video related, I downloaded the new nvidia drivers (unfortunately the official ones didn't work and I had to search a custom .inf file). It does not solve the problem, but the driver seemed to work adequately well.

In our anger, we have sent it back stating that it would be cooling the laptop, that is to say of copper was not sufficient for the graphics card and Toshiba said they had cleaned up the computer until replaced thermal paste, typical stuff all... which seems very fair. We returned it. We played a game and it crashed within 10 minutes. Perhaps even worse than when he left.

Is there anything that could cause this problem - video related activities causing crash computer without going to the BSOD or return specific errors. What is RAM? I even uninstalled protection HDD thinking it could be the source of compatibility problems.

    I need advice.

    The spec is:
Intel core 2 DUO T6600 CPU 2.20 GHz processor
    NVIDIA Geforce GT 230M
    4 GB OF RAM

    Hello

This only happens if you play games or Surf Internet, office, etc.. ?

The games aren't supposed to, but if they are a bit older, they are not compatible with Windows 7 maybe. Did you check that?
Also look for a patch for the games. You can get it on the site of the factory.

In addition, it would be interesting to know what you get exactly the code bluescreen. For the most part the stop codes you can find more information on Microsoft Knowledge Base.

In most cases these bluescreens correspond to the drivers or hardware. If all Toshiba drivers are installed, check the RAM with Memtest86 diagnostic tool.

    Good luck! :)

  • Satellite A500-17 x blocks everything at stake

    Hello

I am new to this forum and I'm desperate.
    Laptop: Satellite A500-17 x

My problem is that when I run games such as Call of Duty 4 my laptop restarts. In detail, the laptop random beep that lasts for one second, although it goes black screen; then it restarts. It then goes on the menu says 'Start windows normally and start safe mode' and something else. I also noticed that this only happens when the sector/charger is plugged / connected to my laptop.

I also tried all the games, I had, I even tried solitare! and it crashed/restarted! I don't always get a blue screen!
I called Toshiba and they said back "we found nothing wrong", guess what?
They said that 6 times in a row! I sent the laptop through contact toshiba support 6 times!
The laptop has traveled since the Ireland to Germany 6 times back!

    And the problem still persists!

I tried setting the high battery performance/balance/eco and it still crashes / restarts!
However when I unplug/pluged on sector/charger games, I mean every game, I played does not crash/restart on me when the sector/charger is not connected/plugged! I'm a player that I played quite long hours, this problem gives me at least a window 5 minutes or 3 seconds of game time.

Now my warranty just ran out two weeks ago. I had this problem for about 1 year and a few weeks.
I'm a very patient kid, but it took its toll on me.

Laptop gfx card is the nVidia GeForce GT 230 m and its running on Windows 7 home premium 64-bit.
On the control panel it says 32-bit for some reason, is it intended to say that? I can't change it to 64-bit 16-bit only.

Please guys, if you could help, it would mean a lot to me. Thank you.

    Hello

Have you noticed this problem playing games only?
I think that this may be related to a temperature higher while gaming.

    > However when I unplug/pluged on sector/charger games, I mean all games, I played does not crash/reboot on me

This means that this laptop goes down only when the AC adapter is connected.
In this case I recommend to check the parameters of power for the profile adapter AC as described here:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=41
(its management power Vista, but very similar to Win7)

Here, you specify a CPU cooling method. I recommend you to set the ultra-high-performance cooling and put the CPU to lower the value
Take a look also at other environments there.

In addition, you must update the graphics driver and check if the BIOS is up to date!

Thank you much in advance. I would appreciate your contribution.

    FB.

I googled around and found many forums where people discuss about this, and it probably has something to do with the graphics card.
Maybe you should back up all your important data and install the operating system using recovery disc HARD (F8) option. Test a few days without having to install additional software.

If the problem recurs, maybe you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.

    Hello

    BSOD is always a painful question because it may be related to different reasons;
It may be a hardware problem, but it can also be a serious software problem.
So it's not easy to tell what exactly causes this

I got a BSOD in the past, because my RAM was faulty.
I have replaced and since it s ok.

Friend of mine had a BSOD problem too. It was caused by the graphics driver.
Updating the graphics card driver helped.

The high temperature may be one more reason to check if the temperature is not too high.

The new installation of the OS might be an option too, but it's your own decision

    Hello

One of my friends has a satellite A500 model and it s working properly.
Games works correctly because it uses a downloaded newest graphics from various pages driver, he said.
In addition, the laptop might restart automatically due to the heat from the CPU or GPU. So it of needed to check if the cooling fans are free of dust and the race with the best performance.

    > was a previous assignment (using the world and access) when my laptop froze and the blue screen of death appeared (if only as a FEW months old)
BSODS can happen always. In most cases, it could be a software related issue, but of course it could also be a hardware problem. If the BSOD will always appear, then you should get in touch with a local ASP.

    > Fan was sovled after 6 months with a simple update of the BIOS, speaker noise exists and not Toshiba support! When I wrote an email to ASP, they said just send back, but there exists WITH THE A500, so it is not a speciel issue!
I put t think the problem appears on the A500. As mentioned the A500 from my friend works ok.

    PS: I read in another thread that some people might solve a sound crackling question change settings;
    Some guy wrote:

  • Satellite A500 - 19(d) - blue screens and restarts suddenly

I am the most unfortunate customer or this model again? No one has problems with the A500 - 19(d)?
I bought, five days ago a new. First start: blue screen. Second: blue screen. Third: F8 safe mode → → can through the entire current configuration.
Then start: party started. A few times the blue pro displays time and restarts. Tempro have 2 messages based: BIOS and WLAN driver update. Update BIOS message: your BIOS is newer or the same thing. Updated WLAN: no driver for my Realtek RTL819 * 1 * SE for Win7.

Two days in vain have off turned parts and drivers downloaded. Third day: I have restored the laptop in its original original (thanks to the recovery of hard disk based) configuration and wanted to put back to give. But a small miracle happens (it's Christmas... or?)  :-)): no more blue screens. OK... just to start, it starts two or three times until OK and then just two or three times suddenly restarts a day. Yet once the drivers downloaded in vain. No change. Someone has an idea? It must be something wrong with the drivers in safe mode, that's OK. Again, there should be a driver it is loaded at startup (blue screen of the first and the second). I really like this laptop but have bought for work not for pleasure and, in this way, its quite risky, so I have to change them.

Stand by. Maybe I've misunderstood something and have to ask you once again: have you noticed this BSOD problem with State factory and without additional software installation?
