Satellite A500: card reader cause BSOD

Hi I have a satellite A500 and its card reader (jmicron) is dead.
It is for me a bsod.
I solved my problem without installing driver jmicron and use xp.
In win 7 gives me a bsod always because win 7 driver jmicron.

My question is:
Can I remove the motherboard card reader?

Sorry for my English thanks

No, you can't do that I think that the card reader is part of the mobo and it s not removable.
But you can turn off the card reader in Device Manager.
Have you tried that? If this isn't it!

My laptop is a satellite A300 and the properties of the so-called card reader 'SDA Standard compatible SD Host controller'.

I am able lto using SDXC cards with this device and if not I am able to upgrade the software to support SDXC cards?

    Thanks for your help

    Hello

I read in the forum on Satellite A300 card reader and I found the info very useful.
The card reader supports the types of cards:

    -SD Card - 8MB - 2GB
    -SDHC - 4 GB card
    -photo - 16 MB - 2 GB xD card
    -Memory Stick - 8MB - 256MB
    -Memory Stick Pro - 256 MB - 2 GB
    -MultiMediaCard - 8 MB - 1 GB
-miniSD (with SD adapter) - 32 MB - 2 GB

As you can see that the SDXC cards are not taken in charge... in this case I recommend using a common external USB card that would support the SDXC cards

  • Update Windows 7 breaks the card reader, causes random crashes

    Hi all

I have a Satellite A500/026 that came with Windows 7 64 bit. Recently, I found only one) the card reader no longer works, and b) just after startup, I get an error message indicating that a component of software from Toshiba is broken down. Both developed these symptoms after a Windows Update, but I can't be sure that one.

The card reader works OK if I start a live CD of Ubuntu, but do not work on Windows, so I guess the problem is with a Windows driver that has been "updated" during a Windows Update.
Is there a set of drivers Toshiba I have to re - install after a Windows Update, or should I just wait that Microsoft fixes whatever-they-broke in whichever-update-it-was-that-broke-it?
    Any other ideas?

    Leigh.

Try to reverse both previous OS using System Restore tool and see if this will fix the problem.
For Windows update use important updates only. Do not install the updates options.

Do back the OS first and send feedback.

OK I got the laptop about 3 weeks and initially had no problem with the reader... but these days that he has stopped reading my cards (I have 2 different kinds)

He recorded on the computer (sometimes with deletion safetly icon) but when I go to open it it asks me to format the card.
I have an old laptop and it works fine on it, but not on the new. Someone at - it advice? I think I might have to take it back to the shop where I got it but I want try to fix before doing this.

    Thank you

    Hello

First, please check if your card reader supports used cards.
The user manual provides details on supported cards and supported.

    But if you already use the compatible card, then you should try this;
Access to the Device Manager and delete (reset) the system card reader.
Restart the computer, and then reinstall the device.

After this short intervention, you should test the location of card with the compatible card reader.

    Good luck

    Hello!

I tried several drivers, but no one works very well. I've read about this problem, but I can't degrade SP2 or something. I suppose, I need help!

I have not found this topic here, I know not why?

It would be great, if someone knows a healing of my player card/driver.

    If all goes well,

    Hello!

As a first step, you should tell us what phone you have.
Did you install the laptop with the recovery disk or Microsoft?

A downgrade to SP2 is only possible if the CD is only SP2 or less. If the CD comes with SP3 to SP2 a downgrade is not possible.

    Hello Herman,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand you have questions using the SD card reader on Windows 7 computer.

But I would like to know some more information on this issue to help you better.

    (1) what is the brand and model of the computer?

    (2) that you get an error message even if the computer breaks down?

    (3) have you tried to use the card reader in Windows 7 computer?

In the meantime, please follow the following suggestions to solve the problem.

Method 1: Try running the Fixit described in the article, and check if that helps.

Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/en-us

Method 2: For accidents in the computer, follow the link below and see if that helps.

    Crashes Windows or freezes

  • Satellite A210 - touch FN causes BSOD (Vista Premium)

    Greetings,

I just got my Satellite yesterday and unfortunately already fallen on a serious problem. Just to note: I've been googling and used the search on the forum, but I have not found a similar opportunity...

However, the problem is easy to explain actually: just at the moment where I hit the function (FN) on the keyboard button, I get an instant blue screen on vista and the system gets immediately stopped. It's like starting right now here: a 'crash-on-command-key '. FYI: It is the famous "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"-message, which essentially tells the normal user (like me) nothing. ".

Also I can't reproduce really, what else could cause this. Associated with the drivers I have only day drivers sound - and onboardgfx.

I think just to use the recovery disc and reinstall the system from scratch. If this does not help, maybe without downgrading to Win XP or even install Linux on it. I'm quite unsure if this action would be a violation if my warranty.

I also around possible navigation for driverupdates for other devices, they are already up to date. It is the same with the bios (v1.90).

Well, someone did - he had a solution?

    Thank you!

I might add: this is actually my first laptop, so my experience is a little weak on this issue.

    Hello

It's really strange question. recovery image is tested and created separately for each laptop model and I do not understand why this is happening. I recommend you to install OS using recovery media delivered. Complete the configuration of the OS and test functionality FN keys.

Do not install any additional operating system and test it with only recovery image. I'm sure that this shouldn't happen again.
    Please post the result.

  • 32GB SD card update causes BSOD

The Ko in question is 976422. Once the update has been installed, my system flashes a BSOD then it is trying to start Windows too. It's a such quick flash that I am unable to get information from it. After reboot, I got to start restore. This has happened three times now.

This time though, my system restore to a restore point while one I had just done. I don't know if the restoration was the cause, but a part that's Avast stop working properly.

    System details:

    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x 64

    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4

Well, I put this turned off for a long time, mainly because the servers are running. I ended up uninstalling SDK for Windows Phone 7 development and had the same problem with a BSOD at startup. However, I does not change the option of BSOD in time. Anyway, he has finally (and unfortunately) came down to do a repair installation. Which fixed the problem entirely.

  • Satellite A500-19w - BSOD BCCode 9 - BAD_POOL_HEADER

    Hey everybody

About 2 weeks ago, I bought a Toshiba Satellite A500-19w. Have been crackling sounds from the speakers, but also error blue screen & restart.
So I decided that I wanted a refund because it was out of the question for me to keep a laptop that has been hurt since the first day.

The Bank refused to give me my money back, instead they gave me a new laptop (the same Satellite A500-19w).

Now, I have the same exact problems, but since I will not get my money, I'm stuck with it.
I've had the laptop for 3 days now, and only today I had 4 blue screen errors (the last 3 times, after windows restarted, I don't even have a log of the error so that I could post it here).

But from what I remember, it was a BCCode 19, & during the last blue screen that I had, I saw "BAD_POOL_HEADER".
I was going through the forums desperately try to find a solution, but have not found anything so far.
I don't know what the problem is, I really need help.

My OS is a Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium.
    (All A500-19w normal sheet example 1 g Ram, 230 M nVIDIA VGA...).

    I really really need help.
I have a lot of work to do and this laptop is the only tool I have.
I don't have access to other computers.

    Help, please.

And one more thing, service of Toshiba Tempro advised me a new update of the BIOS, but when I tried to get it, he told me that ' you seem to have the same version or newer "or something like that & the update did not work.
Yet once, please, I'm desperate for help.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I think the problem is software partner.
The google provides many successes on the BSOD BCCode 19 and the BAD_POOL_HEADER

Unfortunately, it is not easy to say which application or a driver could cause this because its always a different software...

But you can check the minidump file to obtain more details on the error...

Here is a document of Microsoft Knowledge on how to play files of dump Windows creates the memory.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315263

It should help to find the source of the BSOD

  • C55D-A-12N satellite can not read SD cards

I got my Satellite for only a few months, and he was happily read the 8 GB SD card and then stopped.
I bought a new 16 gb SD card, and it will not read either.

I had cause to take the laptop to the factory settings and had a broken hard drive replaced.
It does not read the card. I looked in the Device Manager, and he told me that the drivers are installed...

    . Can someone help please?

    Hello

There's a reason simply why the SD card isn't recognized properly: the SD card isn't compatible.
The Satellite C55D-A-12N card reader takes in charge the rest of media:

8 MB to 2 GB SD
SDHC 4 GB to 32 GB
    64 GB SDXC
Mini 8 MB to 2 GB SD through adapter
Micro SD 8 MB to 2 GB via adapter
Any other MMC 4 MB more than 2 GB

As you can see, the regular SD cards are supported by only the formats between 8 MB and 2 GB

  • Satellite P300 - 1-9-10 SD card reader code

    Hi all

I have a new Toshiba P300 - 1 9, good for six months, and have just for the first time I tried an SD card into the slot of the multimedia card digital.
The card does not appear in 'my computer '. In Device Manager it shows with the yellow sign fault warning of a problem.
Double click it gives this message "this device cannot start code 10" in the management of the disk of the card is not listed in the upper pane, but shows as a player in the lower pane without a drive letter assigned.

If I try to assign a drive letter, I get a message saying that the operation failed because the disk management console view is not updated.
He wants to refresh the view by using the refresh task. Which does nothing.

I reinstalled the drivers for the SD card listed under disk drives when the card is in, storage controllers and generic volume on storage volumes. I've also updated the driver for SD host adapters.

A card format made no difference. I know that the card reader is correct because a few days ago, I took an image updated with Acronis TI and then reinstalled the OS from the recovery media. The card worked fine then. I have now put the Acronis image and the map does not work. I had loads of driver updates on the road to Toshiba for various things (but not the card reader) through their service Tempro, including an update of the bios.
I wonder if the bios update caused the problem. I'm debating whether the BIOS to the default setting.

I have tried everything I can think and followed by a number of suggestions after googling the problem. The MS Knowledge Base was not very useful and many people seem to have the same problem. I am now at a total loss.

    Thank you

    cheven

    Any ideas would be welcome.

    Thank you.

    Hello

The 10 error code means that the device cannot start.
Card reader is not ready and is not running and therefore the SD card cannot be used and is not recognized in my computer.

In most cases the update driver/relocation should help sort put them this question.
Satellite P300 - 1 9 belongs to the PSPCCE series.

The European driver Toshiba page provides the controller driver of card reader for this model of laptop. This is the driver that controls the SD card.

I recommend that you download this driver. Access the Device Manager, and then uninstall the previous driver. Reboot the laptop.
After restarting again the OS must find a new device and should request the necessary driver.
Then you must point to the driver that you downloaded and should complete the installation.

Usually, this should solve your problem.

  • Satellite Pro A200: Card reader does not work after installing XP

    Hello...

I deleted Windows Vista from my Satellite Pro A200 for XP Home.
I'm much happier with the machine now, but I am unable to get any response from the card reader. There is no mention in the manual supplied with the machine.
I cannot find any reference to it in the Control Panel hardware Manager and nothing changes here in it when I insert a SD memory card.

I had no cause to try the drive before removing Vista, so I don't know if it never worked... Although I guess he did.
A search of a pilot running in the download section had no success, and this forum has no direct answers.

Does anyone have an idea what I have to do to make this work?

    Mintin Popa.

    Hello

I put t see serious reasons why your card reader shouldn't run with installed Windows XP t/function.
What you need is the right driver.

The Toshiba driver page provides all the drivers Win XP and there is also an XP driver for the multi card reader.

You need a Texas Instruments Flash Media Driver. He is a driver for your bridge Media Slot.
This slot allows you to insert an SD card, Memory Stick (Pro) or xD picture cards.

    See you soon
