Can satellite A500 - I install Windows 7 64 bit?

I first bought a Satellite A500 with 4 GB of RAM there are a little over 3 months with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium installed. Initially, I got the original dramas with finding drivers 64-bit etc., then it ran OK for a while. After about 2 & a half months I started having BSOD with error message related to a nvidia .sys file. After a few weeks of this, update the latest drivers etc and a number of unsuccessful attempts to diagnose the problem, it's that occur whenever I used the laptop and up he took the touchpad died as well. The company I bought at gave me a laptop replacement.

The new system is also a Satellite A500, and although it has a different model number and a CPU faster it is also virtually identical to the one I had already with 4 GB of RAM and graphics card from nvidia at the same address. However, for some reason Windows 7 32 bit has been pre-installed. I don't know why the company has not installed the 64-bit. A call to the dept tech with the issue gave rise to the answer "better for you", which means that 32-bit is better for me.

My laptop is capable of 64-bit. I know that when you run the 32-bit version, it uses only up to 3.2 GB of installed RAM (my system says 2.99 GB is usable - assume the rest is allocated to graphics?) but I read a post where the poster says it is running 32 bit Win 7 was actually faster than the 64-bit version though even he was not using all the RAM.

* Can someone tell me if I'm running the 32-bit version of Windows 7 rather than the 64-bit version better? *

* If I'm better with 64-bit, can I switch to 64-bit or what I need to do a complete reinstall? * No installation disk provided. Assume that the installation files are on the hidden partition.

Although I have not had a BSOD with this new laptop, I had a couple of instances where the system froze temporarily with the messge "your display driver has stopped working" followed by a recovery. Is this a thing Toshiba, nvidia or Windows 7? I have read quite a few other posts of people with laptops similar to mine who have had the same mistakes of Toshiba/nvidia but no resolution. * If it's going to be a problem with the graphics card, I'm better off the coast with 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7? *

Any advice would be appreciated muchly.

Hello

I a500 and run Windows Ultimate 64-bit, it's best to run 64-bit to 32-bit windows. You must copy of 64-bit Windows to install, it is not big problem to get it. All the drivers you can find on the Toshiba driver page:

I have read a few forums, and if I could find the drivers, I think I'd be able to fix it with a pen.

    Hello!

I m a bit confused at the moment because you try to install Windows 7, but then you have written on that Windows 7 doesn't t detect the CD/DVD drive.

I mean, normally, you must boot from the Windows 7 installation disc and follow the instructions on the screen.
The CD/DVD driver is part of the operating system and can t be updated or something else.

Maybe the Windows 7 disc isn t working properly so can you install another OS, such as Toshiba Recovery disk?

  • Can satellite L300D - I install Windows XP?

Can someone help me or tell me the best thing to do?

I bought my Toshiba Satellite L300D two years ago and it broke last year because I hit it a little because of the internet. So I sent offshore to a friend of my uncle, who has replaced the drive with a 35 GB hard inside you. But now, whenever I turn on my laptop I get the blue screen and it cannot cross, he says that windows can be corrupted and is not loading and it says to use the original installation CD, but I don't have one, but I have a Windows XP one and I would make Windows XP instead of Vista.

Is there anything I can do to get it working again? Please help me quickly

    Thank you

    Hey,.

    > use the original installation CD, but I have not a
Yes, because you have to create this disk yourself using preinstalled creator of media recovery Toshiba as mentioned in the user manual.
Have you read the user manual?

You can order a recovery disc that will restore the original settings of the case:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

Of course, you can install Windows XP s no problem. Just make sure you can get all the drivers on the official page of download driver Toshiba. If so, boot from the XP disc and follow the on-screen instructions to install it.

  • Satellite U500 - problem installing Windows 7 64 bit

    Hello

I just bought a U500 laptop and am trying to install the 64 bit version of windows 7.
It is obtained in the section "Installation program starts Services" and comes with a Setup error saying that the laptop needs to be restarted.
When it is restarted it comes up once again with the error and keeps looping through.

7 the window was on the HARD drive when I bought and was the first option to install when the laptop started upward. There is a recovery disk, but it degrades to XP, something, I'm not keen. I tried to reboot in safe mode, all three options, nothing helps.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    > the window 7 was on the HARD drive when I bought and was the first option to install when the laptop started upward. There is a recovery disk, but it degrades to XP, something, I'm not keen

I put t understand that said you the Win 7 64 bit was preinstalled, but the recovery disc contains Win XP?

As far as I know, the most recent series of laptop is preinstalled with Win 7 64 bit and the recovery disk contains the Win 7 32 bit there is also a preinstalled Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator that allows you to create the own recovery with Win 7 64 bit OS disk

However, if the laptop was preloaded with Win 7 then a HARD drive recovery option should be available also. Turn on the device, press F8, select Repair computer mu then Toshiba HDD recovery
This should start again Installing Win 7 64 bit

  • Can satellite A100-003 - I install Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit?

    Hello everyone,

I have the Satellite A100-003 and I've been running it with Windows XP since I it (triple). Now I want to install Windows 7 on it, however, I'm confused about what can I install on it.

I have a few places on the Toshiba site, I found that I can install Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit), but I can met some problems with the BIOS, in other places, I tried but could not find the drivers for Windows 7 64 bit.

So what is the case? My first goal is to install windows 7 64 bit, because I have 4 GB of RAM on my laptop, but even the 32 bit would be a better choice than XP right now.
So I can install Windows 7 64 bit on my laptop?

Thanks in advance for any answer!

    Hello

Important before installing another OS, you check the Toshiba driver download page. Satellite A100-003 belongs to the PSAARE series and is therefore not available for Windows 7 drivers. You can only get the drivers for Windows XP and Vista 32 bit.

This means that you can try to install Windows 7 because Vista drivers most also work on Windows 7.
If this isn't the case you find newer drivers yourself, maybe you can find something.

  • Can satellite A100-011 - I install Windows 7 64 bit?

Can you please tell me if I install Windows 7 64 bit where can I find the drivers, because they are not listed on the Toshiba site.

    Thanx.

    Akis

    Hi Akis,

    > where I can find the drivers, because they are not listed on the Toshiba site.
That of the point because the drivers provided for this model, you can find on the official website of Toshiba. There's no other place where you can download the pre-tested and official drivers for Toshiba laptops.

Theoretically, there s no problem to install Windows 7, but you don't have to search the drivers yourself on other sites like:
    Etc.

An alternative you can try 64 bit Vista drivers. Usually they should work on Windows 7 too.

  • Satellite P300 - how to install Windows 7 64 bit?

    Hello

I had a Toshiba Windows 7 upgrade for my P300 which was under Vista 32 bit. During installation, asked me if I wanted to install 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7 and I chose 32-bit. Installation worked fine.

Now (moths later) I decided that I would like to install the 64-bit version instead. I have an own (custom) settled by booting from the DVD, but it don't did me not option for the moment and all re-installed Windows 7 32 bit. I know that the 64-bit version is on the DVD (there is a folder for it) - how to start from the DVD and have it install the 64 bit version?
I didn't format the drive when you perform the clean installation - if I do that it will give me the option?

    Thank you
    Ben.

    Great news, mate! :)

Thank you for this feedback. I'll test it on my Satellite P300 I want to upgrade to Windows 7 too.

In addition, an upgrade is possible to the same version: This means that Vista 32 bit can only be upgraded to 32-bit Windows 7. On 64 bit it s the same ;)

  • Satellite P200 - 17 c - I want to install Windows 7 64 bit

    Hello

I use Toshiba P200 - 17 c (PSPB6E) and were broadcast on the public beta of Windows 7 32 bit because it had been released a few months earlier, but I am surely informed Windows 7 64 bit is the way to go, so I would like to give it a try when the RC was released on 5 May. I have some questions I want to answer it please:

    1. the "spec" for my laptop indicates that it supports the Intel 64-bit architecture, but that the BIOS must also support 64-bit. Can someone tell me if my P200 will support and run Windows 7 RC 64 bit?

    2. my current BIOS version is v2.50 for 32-bit and the download page was also a v2.50 for 64 bit, does that mean if I want to use Windows 7 RC 64 bit, I need to Flash my BIOS using thev2.50 BIOS 64-bit?

    3. If the answer to Q2 is Yes and I flashed my BIOS using the d/l 64-bit, do I need to re - flash BIOS 32 bit if I want to go back to using any 32 bit OS?

    4. If the answer to Q3 is Yes, then I would have thought that Toshiba would have created a BIOS that would support 32-bit and 64-bit at the same time.

    Regrads

    Dave

    > As mentioned above, I am using Windows 7 32 bit and if I had to install Windows 7 RC 64 bit, would I need to update my BIOS with BIOS of 64-bit while I use a 32 bit OS and then install the 64 bit OS, or I install the OS 64-bit with my current 32-bit BIOS and then update once the 64 bit OS is installed?
    > (My personal feelings are that I had to upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit BIOS while I use Windows 7 32 bits and then immediately to install Windows 7 64 bit)?

If you want to update the BIOS, then you must first switch to the OS preinstalled Toshiba!
I doubt that the BIOS update has been tested with Windows 7 at the moment and in my opinion, there is a high risk that something went wrong during the BIOS update process!

    Hi, Henrik:

Specifications of your PC seem to meet all of the hardware requirements to be able to fully run W7.

    P D 915 processor is capable of 64-bit.

    ( (4M-Cache-2_80-GHz-800-MHz-FSB http://ark.intel.com/products/27515/Intel-Pentium-D-Processor-915-)

I recommend you max on your memory to 4 GB as a 64-bit operating system requires more memory to run a 32 bit OS.

A 32 bit OS will perform better on a PC that is running less than 4 GB of memory, unless you need a 64-bit system to run 64-bit programs.

I would also start the W7 Upgrade Advisor to confirm what I posted.

  • Can we install windows vista 32 bit OS on a computer that is pre installed with windows 7 64-bit OS?

Can we install windows vista 32 bit OS on a computer that is pre installed with windows 7 64-bit OS?

@ Ken... I tried installinng windows vista by using the recovery disk that will get a customer with the computer dell laptop... and then he was trying to install vista on my computer... It works fine when installing files, but it is and stucks where he says 'finish installation' and he won't do anything after that... I tried to restart my computer and I could see Microsoft coportation logo and then my computer stucks to this screen and wont connect in... not sure what exactly to do... by the ways for your reply thanks

You cannot use recovery discs to install with, if not for the exact model computer that you install.  You need a full installation detail of the model of Vista operating system you want to install since you don't downgrade your operating system to a system that offers no right of demotion.

    * Original title: Windows 10 disappointment

Recently, I bought a HP with Windows 10 Tower preloaded.  I gave up 10.  I would like to return to the Windows 7 desktop.  If I buy or buy this software, I guess I have to 'wipe' 10 of my machine?  Or I would just download 7 top?   What I have found online are instructions for people who have updated to 10 and want to revert to an earlier version of windows.  In my case, I never had an earlier version on the machine I have now.  Is there place where I can get help with installing Windows 7?  Online, local dealer?  Thank you.

If I were you, I call HP and tell them that you do not want this computer with Win10.  They are very likely still sells machines with Win7 for businesses, because most companies do not affect the Win10 with a 10 foot barge pole.

Dell is selling them for sure.  I've been helping my clients by computers Dell Win7 for a very long time now and just had one on my desk a week ago.  Look at the range of Dell Vostro of computers.

The trick is to approach Dell as a businessman, and not as a normal consumer.

My computer came with Windows 7.  Recently, my hard drive failed.  I have four recovery disks that after I bought my computer, I did.  These disks can be used to install Windows on the new drive?

    YES!

I just did mine 01/01/2016, installed a new WD 500 GB HDD black on my laptop ASUS K52F, took my DVD 4 restore disks and restored to Win 7 Home Premium, more 10 Windows, which is sitting on my old HDD in the trash. I'll stick with my Original OEM OS and never improve to WIN 10 times.

If your computer is pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Premium, you should have a recovery if partition:

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For LG, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

For Samsung, press F4 to the power upward...

For Fujitsu, press the F8 key directly after the power

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".

    ------------------------

If the recovery partition is damaged or does not, you can then use the downloaded Home Premium as an alternative.
