RAW and CR2 files sort by time

I recently shot a wedding with my Nikon then my second shooter shot with his gun. We ensured that the times were the same so that Lightroom can work his magic from the organization. After that I downloaded, the CR2 files presented above the Raw files. All images are in a folder and I put to sort during Capture, but they will not mix according to their time.

When I downloaded my images Nikon I realized that my year was off. It has been set to 2010 instead of 2011, so I changed the metadata as a result and he changed the correct year for all my images from Nikon. I downloaded Canon images after this incident, but they won't always sort by time. Do you think that change of metadata has something to do with the images do not mix or file names?

He has experience about 1400 images all together, it will be quite an exhausting having to organize myself. So, I would certainly appreciate some help!

Thank you!!

Ruth

First of all, the CR2 files are RAW. Have you checked to see that the time and date for files Canon is in the metadata and accurate? In the EXIF metadata Panel, you see date time original info for all files, Canon and Nikon?

  • PSE 7.0 - cannot open RAW. CR2 files

I know this question has been asked several times and I'm not a novice user, but I can't make it work.  Here are the details:

    Windows 7 (x 64)

    Photoshop Elements 7.0

Camera Raw Plugin 5.6.0.148 (removed old .8bi camera raw file, I did not use the 64 bit version of the new Plugin)

Camera: Canon SX50HS (which is included in the list of compatible cameras)

Nothing I've tried has eliminated the "wrong type of file" message when you try to open the .cr2 files.

So, then I read that I should get the (v7.2.0.46) Adobe's DNG Converter and convert the files to DNG.  OK, I got the converter but it does not recognize the .cr2 files in the folder in which they exist.  I read another post indicating that the DNG Converter worked only from the C:\ root directory.  So, I put one of the .cr2 files here and that is the folder "select the images to be converted.  She started to scan my drive and finds all .tif to disk files, but none of the .cr2 files.  He has not converted the .tif files.

I'm new to the use of the images in RAW format, but not to the notion of drivers, plugins, versions and following the installation instructions precisely and have years of professional experience in the software (yet more frustrating!).  It seems as if it could / should be a utility to update of the plugin that prompts for the camera make and model, check that it is compatible and install the appropriate software.  I'm sure that the camera information are integrated also somewhere in the image file.

Sorry to beat that poor horse any more, but the ideas would be welcome!

  • Link adjacent JPG and CR2 files

Most of my JPG and CR2 adjacent treats files in a single file when you view in Lightroom. However, I have a folder that, for some reason, the treats like two photos - they are not connected. How can I fix photos in this folder for adjacent JPG and Raw files can be considered as a simple photo?

    Thanks for any help.

You can promote the crude to the top of the stack. Probably if you expand all stacks, then filter to just the RAWs and then SHIFT - S to move them all at the top of their respective batteries. I never shoot RAW + jpeg, so I have nothing to test on.

  • How to: save the image in multiple formats AND edit file names every time automatically?

    Hello!

First of all, I hope I'm not opening a discussion that has already been asked/Treaty. a lot. I couldn't find a solution to my particular problem until now in the web and I hope someone can help me.

I work with Adobe Photoshop CC 2015.

My problem is: I work a lot with product photos (whole/collage of several elements) and I want to speed up the process-saving in multiple formats (JPEG and PNG, sometimes TIFF as well).

The initial situation is: I have a main PSD file (to keep things clean and centralized) with several layers, each layer containing a different element. I need to check/uncheck layer visibility often, add/remove elements of collage to generate variants of game.

With every change that I agree (very minor steps), I have to go to SAVE AS... (Shift + ctrl + s)-> SET a format (JPEG, PNG, TIFF)-> EDIT file name (according to whole-variation [e.g. "Assembly-set01_lightbulb" / "Assembly-set01_lightbulb_cable" /...]---> save.) Fact.

And then REPEAT the steps together, define another format drop-down list, change the name of the file again (since the file original .psd remains without additions) and so on...

This process could his insignificant, but for me, when it comes to the variations set, consumes a lot of time, in particular, by taking changes in layers is a matter of 2 clicks.

So what I know: There is an option to automate the in some workflows. I can create an action, where hitting a predefined key, the original PSD is saved as JPEG and PNG. But that's all. No change of name of file or the destination can be performed (AFAIK).

Now what I want: I want to hit a predefined key, SAVE as... context-window, JPEG (...) is defined by default as defined format, I can modify the file name and/or ideally choose another folder to save to (...). Press enter-> the file is saved in JPEG format with the file name and alternative way edited. A new RECORD under... context window appears, PNG (...) is defined as the default format defined, I can still ideally to change the file name and press ENTER to find:

    -the original (unchanged) PSD file,

-a copy of this image to JPEG with file name changed (... _xxx.jpg) [in another folder path, if I wanted to.

-a copy of this PNG image with file name changed (... _yyy.png) [so somewhere else if I wanted]

All this with the push of a single button(-combination) and my entry to change the names of files.

Is it possible? I hope that my request is understandable and you could understand, what I want to achieve. The process itself is quite simple, but I have too complex concepts on how I want to maximize my workflow.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards, Phil

    Hi Phil,

This is something impossible in Photoshop as if now that the process you are looking for is very personalized and can be reached only in Photoshop.

The only way that you can save a JPEG and PNG file is by creating an action, and that's what you have already tried and does not give you an option to change the file name or destination location.

  • How can I transfer a photo library (raw and jpeg files) fram without loss of metadata and keywords?

How can I transfer my favorite photos library on my MacBook to another library on an external hard drive without losing metadata and keywords?

If you want to keep the metadata, you must export the images as the current versions, edited. File > export > export... images.  Then you can turn on the indicator "Tile, keys, descriptions words":

Choose a high quality for JPEG, not to lose quality.  To the RAWs export them under like TIFF picture.

You can export the RAWs as "file > export > export original unmodified" and keep it RAW, but which will not include the metadata.  And the Photos will allow you to export an XMP file with metadata, but when I tested, it did not apply the metadata when you import the RAW files again. So the best compromise for the RAW format would be to export as TIFF, another lossless format.

  • Camera Raw and Photoshop at the same time?

Is there a a way to process RAW images in the background (using Camera Raw) while working on other photos in Photoshop?

I guess you use Adobe Bridge and open raw camera photos there still use photoshop.

  • After recovery, the cr2 files have '... cr2.jpg ' extension and does not open in PS sc5 / bridge.

After surviving several hundred GB of jpg and cr2 to a disc formatted, I can open jpg PS as usual. Recovering cr2/CR2 files have an extension that ends with cr2.jpg.

Niether bridge or Ps can open them. I guess that's because cr2 have integrated in them when they are created and the recovery software their pulled up as a jpg file. Is there a way to isolate the raw and jpg files in this situation, or maybe there's a download that can take care of him?

PS can not run window indicates; Incorrect flag or extension jpg too long.

    Version of cs5 pc Win7 670339

    Thank you!

Well, after having successfully survived about 120 000 images of a formatted drive accidentally I'll pass on a little of what I learned. I'll try to keep it brief and perhaps will post a more complete NET when I have the chance.

First thing I did was arrested and disconnect a drive so that I was not tempted to tinker with it. Also, I thought I'd need to rush to a data recovery service quickly.

Secondly, after consulting a friend network business, he suggested that he had actually downloaded a program of recovery on the net and it was reliable for its purposes. I had a cool 2 TB drive ready to receive the recovered files. I went online and downloaded EaseUs recovery. I ran it to feel fairly confident he was not destructive. I was relieved to see that it has found a huge Bank of image files. I got them it is clear that some of the images have been jpg and some had a cr2.jpg extension. When the recovery process was I did then went to see the images. I could see very good jpg images, but images with the cr2.jpg extension were not visible. That's when I found here on the Adobe forums. I tried various methods to rename the files, (ie: delete the part cr2 or jpg, etc.) so that the extension should have (in my mind), makes sense for the Ps or even windows Explorer also. No luck.

I tried another download of recovery. These are all a little suspicious, btw, when you look at their Web site there are usually some spelling or grammatical errors, which, for me, is a little disturbing. Wondershare was the next program that seems to work very well and had to jpg and cr2 in separate folders treated. Horay! I ran the program. It took 16 hours to run, (fortunately I started it just before dinner so this should be done the next day when evryone went to school etc.). He got up to 99% complete and crashed! After reduction of the research to a whole limited file and try again, same thing. I sent an email to their support. It took a few days but they responded to what seems to indicate I have try their "most powerful" version free of charge.

Meanwhile, I had downloaded a program of third 'FireCuva '. It sounded pretty hoaky, but I thought that was just a poor marketing plan and to date, these programs have been getting me close enough.

I ran FireCuva. He finds and separated my cr2, jpg, mp3, mp4, Quicktime, etc beautifully! Unfortunately, my records have disappeared. However this was not unexpected, and a small price to be so sloppy in the first place.

Now, I had about 120 000 images in folders in number. "Date created", were there, but without a job, the recovery program.

The next task was to try to organize the images.

After a bit of debate, I open Lightroom for the first time in years. (I had abandoned awile ago, because I couldn't get a handle on "catalogs" and other 'virtual' Lightroom aspects, (I wanted the knowledge hard and fast, hence all my stuff was).)

I imported each folder of the pile recovered and exported to files by date on the same drive. I now have a great appreciation for the ability to create collections and catalogs in Lightroom with out having to copy and move images.

An inspection further, I found that all my ps adjustment layers in my Tiffs, etc. are still there!

    In short;

FireCuva recovery software does the job. It cost $59 (even though it says $49 on the download button).

Lightroom handles the rest. I only wish I could, "Lightroom", the rest of my life!

Thanks to those who read and published in the effort to help!

  • Photoshop CS6 will not open the file image (.jpg, .dng and .cr2)

    Hello

I recently reinstalled my laptop (64-bit) Windows 7 Pro. It has all the necessary Windows updates.

I installed Photoshop CS6 (64 and 32-bit) and I've installed all the updates it needs.

It will not open any JPG or RAW, .tif, .jpg, .dng and .cr2 files. Before you reinstall Windows Photoshop worked well.

When I try to open an image file that Photoshop does not open, so the file type is associated with Photoshop, but that's all. The software is running, but it won't open the jpg or tif, and it does not open Camera Raw to display the RAW file.

If I double-click on a new image, then a new instance of Photoshop is open, in addition to the already open instance, but still no picture.

If I click file-open and navigate to the file it will then open in Photoshop and Camera Raw 9.1.1 and the picture shows successfully.

    Strange!

The only thing I think currently, is that I have 2 partitions on the laptop, with C: and a D: readers, with the users folder, which is held on D. Photoshop is confused by there? Well it is exactly how the laptop has always been in place, and it was already defined in this way before Photoshop has been installed.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall. I tried to install just Photoshop 64 Bit, not 32 bit (I don't really know why I get the two offered, to be honest.)

I am now lost and would like to receive helpful suggestions!

    I "solved" this problem!

It seems that Photoshop won't open these files from a Windows 7 'Library' that points to a redirected folder.

However, if I create a mapped drive with a drive letter local, the actual path of the files, (for example \\Server\FolderRedirections\Michael\Pictures), then it works OK.

It is a good work-round and it makes no difference to me if I use a mapped drive or library I put just one correct, in the section 'Favorites' from Windows Explorer.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, that helped me a lot. I hope this answer helps someone else, even if my situation may not be a common scenario.

  • Why Lightroom5's copy of the RAW and Jpeg formats files in the destination folder?

    Hi all Lightroom experts.

I want to copy the RAW files of my SD dsra on my hard drive Drobo. And every time I did that Lightroom has copied BOTH raw and jpeg files

How to load Lightroom to copy only the RAW files?

Just a little disgress, actually the same problem happens in Adobe Bridge despite me by selecting only the RAW files to copy, but it always copied both!

    Any tips?

    Thank you

You can tell Lightroom to qualify alongside jpg FIRST separate photos, or treat the JPG as a file by following the instructions here:

Lightroom help | Set import preferences

If the JPG file is a sidecar, the JPG is always imported but is not displayed in your library module.

If you don't want to import the jpg files, you will need to select the RAWs, but not the jpgs in the dialog box import; or import them all and then delete the jpgs of Lightroom and your hard drive (easier, but takes a little longer). or don't shoot RAW + JPG

  • Duplicate files RAW and JPG (sidecar) in organizing

    Hello

I usually store RAW formats and a small JPG file for each photo that I take with a Canon EOS 7 d. When they are imported into Lightroom 4.4, Lightroom displays a single image, noting that the associated JPG is an image of "sidecar". When they are imported into Photoshop elements Organizer 11 two photos are displayed, i.e. every single photo is duplicated.

How to set up Photoshop elements 11 Organizer to show only a photo for each RAW/JPG?

    Thanks in advance,

    David.

Lightroom and the Organizer have something in common: they contain no image files. They only store information about where the files are physically stored. They are a list of these tracks (pitches). RAW and JPEG at the same time are two different image files. Thus, you cannot talk about duplication of this point of view.

What Lightroom and the organizer do not have in common is the way they treat the "Duets" of raw and jpeg files. At the point of importation, the organizer has always considered as separate files and any two of them, as described by 99jon. LR recognizes the fact that the two files are two variants of a sudden and offers a choice of import: ignore the jpeg or consider ist as a type of file "sidecar".

The use of the organiser so that it shows only a thumbnail, once they have been imported? This is possible if you use the Visual similarity search: you can choose to automatically suggest photo stacks just after the stage of importation. Your files will be stacked and you will see only one photo in the navigation area. You can reduce the batteries or develop them in the navigation area. After stacking, any organizing task as side, keywording will apply to these two files, a bit like the real version sets.

I don't think you really need to shoot in raw + jpeg most of the time.

It can be useful when you become familiar with the raw processing.

We could make an immediate way to display images on your card when you have no computer at hand. In this case, erase the JPEGs of the fair catalogue after that importation in the catalog is the simplest and fastest solution.

To view on your computer without elements raw images, it may be useful to have another free software able to show thumbnails of raw (faststone, xnview...) files

In addition, if shooting raw only, it is easy to export a jpeg version ad-hoc (temporary) of your import package from the Organizer to share with friends. It is preferable after slaughter and rating and make a few quick keywording.

  • RAW and JPEG on the disk, only import RAW files?

I shot some photos this morning, and the camera is set up to generate a RAW and JPEG file (if it's a difference, the camera is a Panasonic Lumix GX1). I copied all the files from the SD card to a folder on an external HARD drive and then tried to import into Lightroom.

In the import dialog box, the only files he showed me import were the RA2 (Panasonic RAW) files, not JPEG files. My first thought was that he decided my name do not import duplicates - but the file names are the same, but extensions are different and the file sizes are different. Why LR would consider that these are duplicates?

Any thoughts on how to get my RAW and JPEG imported?

    Hello

    Greetings!

Yes, there is a setting in the preferences.

    Open Lightroom

Click on edit-> preferences-> Genaral or Lightroom (Windows)-> preferences-> General (MAC)

Check the box below and click ok and relaunch lightroom.

    Now import and check.

  • RAW and JPEG as a thumbnail?

    Hello

is it possible to display the RAW + JPEG as a thumbnail in Bridge as in Lightroom? I shoot RAW and JPEG and I see the same image 2 times. A BAD Version and a JPEG.

I want to see the two as a thumbnail. They should be grouped. So, if I erase it the RAW and JPEG version is deleted.

    Help, please!

    Kind regards

    Husband

You still don't understand what I mean, and you seem to have no idea what I'm talking about. But it's OK...

Maybe you should read a little more about LR works before you write things you clearly don't know anything.

I explain it one last time: I have RAW and JPEG files. I seek only to RAW files when I sort my photos and I don't want to manually delete the JPEG images. So I wanted to bridge pile JPG + RAW together so they both deleted when I delete the image. It is not difficult to understand in fact

For those who has figured out what my problem was:

I found a script to LR that does exactly what I was looking for in Bridge :-> RAW + JPG battery

So my problem is solved and everything works fine

    Frustrated in Wisc. Dells, WI

    Todd M. Galbrecht

You need Lightroom 6.0 or Lightroom CC 2015 at least to open the D7200 raw files. If you are using an older version of Lightroom, you can use the DNG format free version converter 9.0 or newer to create copies DNG that you can use with your old version of Lightroom.
