RDP in the remote computer works for only 1 of the 2 local machines almost identical

I have a laptop and desktop at home, and I'm eager to distance in my work machine. The laptop can RDP into my machine to work very well, but I was not able to understand why my office cannot. I was even able to RDP in my work from my office machine in the past (a few months ago), but now he can't. Here is the error message I get on the desktop after the RDP authentication will fail; the laptop can connect correctly by using the same credentials.

Both are running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits.

Both use supplied with windows Remote Desktop connection application.

Both access to the internet via a wireless connection (the desktop equipped with a wireless adapter computer) connected to the same router.

Both are fully updated with updates of Windows and run the same antivirus.

The two successfully connect to a VPN software that connects very well and uses the same network as my work computer credentials.

Both must connect using the same login information, which are the same login information that I use at work.

On the desktop, I tried and failed with the following text:

Disabling the Antivirus and Windows Firewall.

Copy and run the RDP file saved to the laptop on the desk.

Reinstalling the VPN software on the desktop.

The only difference between the two that I can think is that my office does not require a password to connect; but it doesn't stop me of remoting in the working computer in the past, and my computer configuration has changed very little since then.

What else can check to figure out what could be allowing the laptop through, but deny the Office? Any help is appreciated, because I prefer to use my home office instead (two monitors, better equipment, etc.).

I was able to find a workaround for this problem, well that is not ideal. It seems that my work computer and desktop home somehow at some point got the same network IP address (192.168.1.106, at least by trying to connect to my work machine). Even if not connected via VPN software, they both have the same network IP address. That's why I was able to connect to another computer on the network, but not my machine specific work; My Home Office thought he needed to connect to itself. So what I was for my home desktop to have a different network IP address. my laptop has had a (192.168.1.3) which differed from the work machine.

What I did to work around that it was:

On my desktop, I opened the command prompt and run the ipconfig command and writes down the subnet mask and the default gateway of my wireless connection for use in later steps.

I then roughly followed the steps of this (somewhat similar to Windows 7) site to modify the IPv4 settings to change from automatic to manual IP address assignment. Set it to manual and back (i.e. reset) has not worked for me and has given rise to the same network IP address. So, using the values of the ipconfig I ran earlier, I chose a random network IP (192.168.1.42) address, left the settings to manual assignment and find other info. For DNS servers, I use Google's Public DNS.

The end result looks like the following and I am able to connect to my work from my home office machine.

EDIT:

After a little more work and looking around, I could cancel the settings above (thus leaving my office with the default settings) and solve the problem of logging in my router settings and my office assign an IP network (192.168.1.42) using its MAC address. As long as I don't have to RDP into a computer to work with the IP address assigned, it will work very well.

I would mark this as the answer but do not see how.

    So far, we know absolutely nothing about your system, so if you give information, you might be able to get better help.

    Unfortunately, the implementation of MS Answers forums does not prompt for any information system when a new question is asked, so we don't know anything on your system.

    Not knowing the basic informations of a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues, but that's the way they choose to turn things around here.

    What is your Windows Version and the Service Pack?

    Hi rerx,

    You can get see the sharing computer when it connects to the IP, something like \\192.169.1.101. If you can then on computers please proceed as follows.

    Click Start
    Go to term,
    Type CMD
    Press ENTER.
    Type "ipconfig/flushdns" (without the quotes)
    Press ENTER.
    Type "ipconfig/registerdns".

    See if you can now test the computers by name.

    If you are still unable to disable third-party firewalls which can be put in place on one of the computer and the router.

  • Sync Center will fail for some users. Work for others. Is not dependent on machine. No error sync... just no sync.

    Using Windows 7 Pro on desktop computers, Windows Server 2008 on stocks. I have set up actions of the user (the same for everyone) on the server. The share of the 'always available offline' value, flash sync to logoff.

    Synchronization of some user without problem. Some never synchronize. Synchronization log indicates a successful synchronization. I even tried reallocation of a PC, that was fine synchronization for a user to another user. No synchronization to the second user.

    I tried everything I found on the forums, but nothing changes.

    I can manually run SyncToy or FreeFileSync and operation of synchronization. I tried to run these via scheduled tasks and they fail.

  • 1 extraction process may work for the 2 diagrams?

    Hello

    My question is this:

    I ext1 extraction process, but I want this process to work for the 2 diagrams like HR and scott.

    I couldn't find the correct syntax for the 2 diagrams. He works for hr diagram but I could not add the correct settings for scott.

    It works for only hr:

    extract ext1

    UserID ggate, password oracle

    TRANLOGOPTIONS ASMUSER sys@ASM1 ASMPASSWORD 123456

    exttrail/u01/app/oracle/product/gg/dirdat/tr

    DDL are mapped objname hr.*;

    table hr.*;

    How would it be if I want to add schema scott?

    Yes, something like that might work... Simply add additional TABLE lines... with more tables or diagrams.

    extract ext1

    UserID ggate, password oracle

    TRANLOGOPTIONS ASMUSER sys@ASM1 ASMPASSWORD 123456

    exttrail/u01/app/oracle/product/gg/dirdat/tr

    DDL are mapped;

    table hr.*;

    table scott.*.

    I also removed the OBJNAME of the DDL statement option. Since I assume you want to replicate DDL on the tables that you capture, DDL ARE MAPS will take care of it.

    Whether the owner.table names are the same in the source and target in the replicate database, you can use

    CARD *. *, TARGET *. * ;

    In this way, he'll just take any operation in the log file and apply them to the corresponding table in the target database. So that when drawings or additional tables are added in the excerpt, you do not need to change your settings replicate files.

  • I think that I have been scammed by the company supposed to work for windows saying that my computer was about to crash

    A company called vap technology called me last night on my phone at home and said to my computer was about to crash. they were Indian speaking people and said they were working for microsoft support; as I am not a laptop user profficent of long date, I couldn't tell if they were or not. How to get back money from $149, I paid them to fix the problems and how to uninstall the programs they put on my laptop; also what can I use to tell if it's a microsoft technology? Help!

    It is a scam. See:

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx .

    If they have access to your PC, they can install any number of malicious programs. My recommendation is to do a clean reinstall of Windows - it's the only way to be sure that your system is clean.

    If you have them paid by credit card, tell your card provider immediately what has happenend.

    All the data on your computer (passwords, credit card numbers, numbers of account documents, etc.) may have been compromised (they may not know now). According to the companies concerned (for example your bank) what happened.

    Use another PC to change passwords.

    Consider telling your local police.

    It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

    I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

    To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

    See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

    How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    Reset the computer to start as usual

    When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.
