RDP problem :)

Like most RDP problems, this one is very interesting.

I have a Server Windows 2008 R2 have no problem RDPing to.  It is functional for 2 years...

Come to find someone I work with is unable to RDP to it.  Clearly, there seems to be a problem on his workstation, but I am unable to find a rhyme or reason.

Facts:

Problem workstation, win 7, can RDP to any other server in the environment.

Workstation problem using the latest version of the RDP client.

I can RDP to the workstation server problem (another sense) issue.

I created a new profile on the position of the problem and tried to RDP without credentials saved... didn't work.

Any profile on the position of the problem that I use, I can always telnet to the server on 3389

Yes, it's listening on 3389 since I can get it from other machines

I am unable to find a log file referring to any kind of problem (not really how to for debugging)

While I'm trying to connect, do a netstat - ano shows a connection on the workstation to the server problem

I ping the server by name and the ip address of the workstation problem

I'll probably make a capture of packets at both ends, the problem is the server is the production and work station is heavily used throughout the day.

any ideas?

  • RDP problem without client

I have a Cisco ASA 5510 8.4.3 running code with the latest plugin installed RDP. Links on the portal without RDP client worked fine until recently. Now the RDP session will start and display the Windows login, but after the connection, the session hangs and you are immediately redirected to the homepage portal of the ASA. RDP works very well when you are using the Windows client and connected via Anyconnect. This only happens when you use IE with ActiveX. Java still works fine. This problem seems to have started after that Microsoft May patches have been released, but I'm running 8.4.3 so the kill bits issue should not be a problem.

    Hi Allen,.

If I'm wrong, not the only app that has been affected due to the updated Microsoft's RDP. It is because of the update from Microsoft Security KB 2695962. For more information please visit:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/security/advisory/2695962

The resolution can be found to this:

    http://tools.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-20120314-asaclient.

Although this link provide a workaround, but I have not seen this work.

There are two options to make it work:

    1. either uninstall the specified security update

    or

    2. upgrade code 8.4 (3.8) (Note: this is not available on cisco.com) but you can improve the ASA to 8.4 (3.9) interim which is available on cisco.com.

I do not know if you shared the exact version of the code that you run on your ASA however if you are running

asa843 - k8.bin, then you will need to follow the steps mentioned above.

Please try running RDP after trying these two steps and let me know if this can help.

    Thank you

  • HP envy printer range: HP envy with Win7 Remote Desktop RDP printing problem

    Hello

I have a printer HP envy 5530 works well for my laptop.

When I connect to my Win7 Remote Desktop Server (on which HP envy drivers are also installed) and try printing locally on my HP local printer, it does not work.

When I look at my local mobile print queue, I see two copies of 'Remote Desktop redirected Printer Doc' contained in the queue. One of the queue said copies and then print. Impression size document in the print queue shows 4 KB that is abnormally low, then the missing documents from the print queue, but are not printed on the printer.

Note that I have no problem with the same laptop, same Remote Desktop server, but using a different printer (not HP).

I saw that on several forums (including this one), many users have this same problem but I've never seen a valid response that solves this problem with RDP.

    Any idea?

    Thank you

I solved the problem by creating a new printer on the local computer and configure the port to the Standard TCP/IP port with the IP address of the printer and the HP Deskjet 6940 driver use. Deskjet 5500 driver may work as well.

The problem is with the specific Envy 5530 driver.

  • Problems with printer Redirect/MS OneNote opens automatically to RDP/VPN

We have a network environment where we rdp/vpn in several flavors of Server 2003/2008.  Whenever we either rdp/vpn in these
boxes, we get a printer redirect the box that appears several times stating:

This document was sent to the printer

    Document: Remote Desktop redirected printer...

    Name of the printer

    Time

    Total number of Pages

It is yet to come when connecting.  In these cases, nothing has been printed by the user.  We usually press ok
or Cancel to get through this, but the problem is still there in the next journal in which is super annoying.  We can go in
through the resources local tab in the RDP and uncheck the printer, or go to personalization settings in the task bar
SELECT and menu properties hide notifications from the printer, but it does not solve this problem and it also prevents our users
to be able to print over the network.
Apart from this question, MS OneNote starts automatically during each of
the journal of sessions via rdp/vpn.
I found a blog about it, so I know that this issue has been raised by others, but none
    real solution was provided.
    Any ideas?

  • I have problems with the remote (RDP) desktop sessions, I can't get the session to go full screen after being reduced to a minimum.

I can't get the session go full screen after be kept to a minimum.

I did the following things to make this work:

    1. Updated the operating system
    2. Check my RDP options to make sure that it is set to mode full screen
    3. I tried 3 different computers that it happens on both of them have every two Windows 7 Professional and both are 64-bit (XP Machines have that happen)

    Details:

I connect to my company TS servers and application servers (all running 2003 OS). When I reduce the view full screen, via the connection bar, I go back to enlarge the window and I get a window view not a view full-screen. I've only been able to reproduce this on two machines and tested a total of 5 machines Windows 7 Pro. I also tested on a XP Machine and impossible to duplicate. The XP and 2 of 7 machines (who both question) are on a connection, the others are all on separate connections in separate locations. Is this a bug in the program or is their environment I'm missing? Still, full screen has been selected in the display area.

    Thank you

"There is a kind of"bug"with some resolution which could refuse to full screen.
the only way to force full-screen mode is by pressing Ctrl + Alt + break.

  • How can I solve the RDP and SQL problems after cloning of a paralytic?

I got a job Server 2008 R2 system running SQL Server Enterprise 2012 all on an 8 G/4CPU VM and did a ' copy to ' VAPP Cloner.

The new VAPP has been on one VLAN separated. During the copy process, customizing of comments was shortlisted, and I gave the new virtual machine, a new name for the machine. I can access both VLAN via my WIndows 7 x 64 desktop client OpenVPN.

So far so good, I could use the vDC to log on the new machine of vApp using my previous administrator credentials.

I found myself with two problems though...

    (1) none of my previous connections will work with SQL Server, when I try to launch SQL Server Management Studio. I get a message saying "Connection failed for user 'newmachine\user'" so maybe the MSN usr for duplicate users are not the same as the original sid user? I think that he could not tell the difference, if everything has been cloned and the machine name has changed.

    (2) my RDP 7 Windows client does not connect unless I have configure the new server to allow "a MOP" instead of just "Network Level Authentication" that has been configured on the original server that I cloned from. When I activate "all RDP" I can RDP into the cloned fine system.

The cloned machine had the new name of the machine and a new SID assigned by the cloning process. The original and clone are on VLAN isolated and cannot see. Both not use areas and working groups.

If I leave the cloned server THAT RDP "NLA" value only as the original server, my Windows 7 client gets a message complaining that RDP does not support the NLA for the cloned machine. RDP works fine connecting to the original server that still has not specified NLA. The RDP instance that says I need enabled NLA, watch NLA is activated in the about box.

Someone at - he saw either of these issues? Any suggestions?

    Thanks, Dave

Hi, my understanding is that sysprep does much more than simply by changing the SID of the box, it will also use the SID to regenerate the local MSN accounts system which is problably the origin of the problem, you're experiency. This is done for the security reasosns avoid guests who have accounts with the same sid on different machines. There is a tool called newsid that changes the SID of the server and let the system SID accounts because they were, but it has been known to have other issues but allow him to achieve what you want? I thiknk MS have retired it now, but you can always download on the net.

If you need get SQL running sysprep and want to automate the process to set up your DB and users following post useful:

  • Firefox is very slow when you use RDP

Firefox is fast when you use Windows directly. But when you use RDP it is very slow. For example, empty new tab takes about 6 seconds to open. The RDP connection is fast and another response programs immediately (for example the same page navigation in IE is fast).
What is the problem with Firefox?

Could it be the graphics hardware acceleration?

You will need to probably restart Firefox for it to take effect, so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.). On the remote system:

Orange Firefox button or classic menu Tools > Options > advanced

In the mini ' General' tab, uncheck the box for "use hardware acceleration when available.

Then restart Firefox. Does make a difference?
