Re: Audio crackles on Satellite A500 (PSAR3A - 01 K 002)

Bought a new Satellite A500 last year and have had many problems, here's a quick run down:

1 will play not with Win7 64-bit, compatible blue screens pointing to the graphics card driver. Tried every update in the Sun, nothing helps, also tried a full system restore with no luck... finally gave up and moved for Win 7 32 bit and stability seems reasonable.

2. audio crackles with 64 and 32 bit versions of win 7, once again have tried every update under the Sun, including BIOS and full system restore with no luck. Audio is really shocking and it is worth noting that it is not just the speakers, when I use a headset (and joking around, I had plugged a top of the range $300 pair) it still crackles like nothing else.

3. fell hardware WIFI switch...! ??? Also note that this laptop was not the biggest of any ill treatment and hase has spent most of it is time sitting on a desk at home and not be mobile (which incidentally is therefore what laptops are designed for should be able to handle)

4. Webcam not centered, he did on my right shoulder looking into no. mans land making it quite impossible to use and type at the same time.

Where I am now... Well I took it to Portacom (west Perth) under warranty that I do not advise anyone to do as disassembled for replacement of the webcam, they were pretty useless, and they were pretty rude about it too.

They said they tested the audio with intensively music with headphones too and can't find anything wrong with that, but yet it still crackles away murdering all my favorite music.

They said that the WIFI hardware switch was caused by abuse, but there is no sign of violence.

They do not have check the blue screen with windows 64-bit issue because I had long since given up that at this time.

I was always a fan of Toshi and that's why I insisted we do a when I upgraded, but it seems he build quality has suffered a little since I finally bought a. I don't think I'll go to another ever again, this machine is wound very badly and has a huge impression cheap on this subject. Even more if you need any technical support, warranty or not, don't bother with Portacom. As I said they are rude and not much help at all really.

Hey, man

You are right, the A500 series have problems and the most annoying is audio crackles. I bought my round 4 monts ago and hoped that Toshiba should fix bugs of cracking, but it is still exists. I tried all Bios upgrade, reinstalling the driver, registry settings, but still no solution. As I see it, Toshiba is not care we or am I wrong? They have placed the same driver display simply by changing date you output. As for me, I don't often listen to music on my knees, using a portable mp3 player which fortunately not crackling.
But anyway, I love this model. He has a good design, assemblage of powerful and high quality. I hope they fix some bugs in the future

LEADING INNOVATION MUST BE FREE FROM CRACKLING

Welcome them

  • Satellite A500 - update BIOS with dead battery

    Hi all

I have a Satellite A500 (PSAR3E) laptop and I need to update the BIOS to the latest version.
Unfortunately, my battery died completely, and I have no chance to get a working one.

I was trying to update the bios all day, but no matter how I try (even created a boot back drive and took command line phlash16, /forceit and so on) it keeps telling me that he needs at least 10% charged battery present.

How can this problem be solved?

    > If I remove the battery, engine update fails, say there is no battery present, if I fix the battery, then update will fail saying the battery must be at least 10% - but he died, this percentage is 0.
And you write about original Win version that you have downloaded from the Toshiba BIOS download page and started in Windows?

To be honest is unclear to me that there is a trick to avoid this situation.
Maybe something stupid, but now, do you really need to install the update to the BIOS?
Is there a problem with your machine?

  • Satellite A500 - what are the changes in the BIOS 1.90

    Hello

I own a Satellite A500 PSAR3A-026002. He has BIOS version 1.50, the Toshiba site, it shows the latest version as 1.90. I would like to know what was changed from 1.50 to 1.90 but do not find the information anywhere. I was wondering if someone could tell me the changes or direct me to a site that has them.

Not planning on upgrading BIOS at this point that everything works fine, just curious what they updated, corrected or added.

    Hello

This information is not published on the European driver Toshiba page.
But you can visit the Toshiba page we.
I found some of the series Satellite A500 and details about the BIOS versions.
But right now the BIOS 1.9 is not available on the US Just the v1.8 page.

However, if your laptop works properly I wouldn't change anything.

  • Satellite A500-19 x: no lighting and modem driver for Win 7 required

My laptop died so I tried to re - install windows 7 and all the drivers for it.
I could not install the modem driver (?) and therefore can not access internet from him.

In addition, the buttons above the keyboard light is no longer lit.
The taskbar are a nasty gray instead of translucent.

I don't know much about computers and would appreciate any advice :)

    Hello

The light for the buttons is called Illumination.
You can enable or disable in the BIOS settings.
Turn on the computer and press F2. Here, you will find the option of enlightenment.
Enabled, save the changes and restart the device

The A500-19 x belongs to the series of Satellite A500 PSAR3E.
I checked the European driver of Toshiba page and there is a 2.2.97 for Win 7 64 bit modem driver

  • Satellite A500 - failure WLAN

    Hello.

My wife has a Satellite A500 PSAR3A-026002 running 32-bit win7 and the Wi - Fi connection has suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason. In common with a previous thread, this coincided with the death of the battery. Shows Device Manager wireless adapter works fine. The switch on the front is turned 'On '. If I press Fn + F8, sometimes wireless on display. Yet, windoze "convenience store says wireless capability is turned off."

Although, as I said, if I press Fn + F8, sometimes wireless on showing, I don't know that flashcards are working properly (id never heard of them before that). While holding Fn and repeating F8 do not seem to scroll through the options, freeing the Fn does not seem to do anything (IE does not allow the slected option), and the trackpad/Rez does nothing. This seems the same for the other keys too, although the brightness slider works.

In addition, seems to me that the version of FlashCards on download is older than what we have?

Old or new version is not so important. Any version should work fine.
Everything you try to do is correct and I really put t understand where is the problem.

In any case, what you can try is to remove preinstalled Toshiba value added package, reboot the laptop and install the latest version you can find on Toshiba download page http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

  • Satellite A500-17 x Audio crackles

Always audio crackling noises, even after following the instructions in the other thread on this forum. (using laptopvideo2go drivers etc...) Although not as well as before, only sometimes when switching Windows or when the computer is made of several things.

Someone at - there still any issues with this? Also I don't know why they closed/locked the other post cos they seemed to have solved this problem. But obviously, this has not been resolved 100%, please delete this thread if you wish and reopen the other thread for comments.

It would also be useful if * Forbo * could publish a list of what you updated, as NVIDIA HD Audio realtek driver and video driver and you are using 24-bit or 16-bit settings. or did you just update the video driver.

    Thank you!

I put t know why this didn't solve the problem in your case, but it seems that the update of the graphics for graphics cards from nVidia Driver is the solution.
Maybe the old driver files are still persist on your device and so this didn't help you solve this problem

  • Satellite A500 - crackling sounds and blue screen

    Hey everybody.

I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A500-19w about 4 days ago (today it is Sunday, March 7, 2010).

I had the sounds of crackling of my speakers which have been mentioned so many times in the forums, no real solution.
I also experienced the crash of the blue screen, that's already happened 7 times while I was not strongly using my newly buy laptop.
I'm not looking for a repair or a replacement, because I find it quite unacceptable to have to think about the errors, faults & fixes as much as the laptop is brand new.

What I want is a refund, but I'm not sure on how to do it.

I know that Toshiba has some sort of refund policy, but if someone can tell me exactly how it works, because I want to get rid of my laptop as soon as possible (I will not buy any more portable Toshiba, especially since I had some similar problems with my Qosmio f30).
If someone can give me some guidance, because I don't want to be mocked or used and cheated out of refund.
I bought my Toshiba in the Middle East (perhaps refund policies are different here).
    Thank you.

    Hi mihran.

If you want to pay off your laptop, you should talk with your computer store where you bought it. Only the can repay your laptop and not Toshiba directly.
Of course it is also depending on the country where you life, but normally you can pay within 14 days I think. So in your case I speak with the seller or give them a call. They explain how to do this.

But let me give you a little advice: regarding your problems with the crackling sound and blue screen I recommend that you contact an authorized service provider or ask a new A500 (this should be possible if you have only 4 days). Generally, I can say that a friend of mine has Satellite A500 and he is quite satisfied with her. This laptop has a great design equipped with new material for a good price. :)

  • Satellite A500 - 17 X gel questions / speakers crackling

    Hello

I recently bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A500 - 17 X to pc world because I wanted a reasonable multimedia laptop computer price of £700, I'm towards the end of my fault for 28 days and do not know whether to return the laptop or keep it.

From time to time if I let the computer and do not use it for an hour or set mode 'sleep' then when I take it freezes sometimes and I have to turn off the laptop or remove the battery and restart the computer, which arrived about 4 times in 20 days. It freezes completely so that I can t anything.

Sometimes when I play the music from the speakers slightly crackle well that I m not sure if I m just to play out loud as I like my music loud but even when I turn down that I hear it randomly, I already returned your laptop for the same problem, but now you're wondering whether to give up Toshiba and go for something else or stick with them

I was wondering if anyone else had similar problems or everyone finds the laptop works very well with WINDOWS 7 and no problems

Please answer asap would be very grateful

    Thank you

    Hello

For three weeks I have Satellite A500-157. I had with Vista, but after a week, I installed Win7 (clean install). So far, I am convinced, and performance is really good.
I does not have a lot of extra software. I use Office 2007, Skype, MSN messenger and Firefox only.
Last week when I installed Win7 I have found no Win7 drivers for this model of laptop but I did the combination of Vista and Win7 for Satellite A350 pilots. Everything goes well.

With all these stuff pre-installed and portable standard configuration runs stabile and pretty quiet (after updating the BIOS). I use the daily sleep/hibernation mode and up to now I did not notice anything unusual. Laptop wakes up correctly.

Sound is pretty good, but I think that his was better on my older Satellite P200. Maybe the older speakers in P200 were slightly larger and more powerful. In any case, until now, I did not notice whatever it is what can be described as critical behavior and I just hope that mobile will work well in the future without some hardware or software issues.

  • Satellite A500: Multimedia keys do not work after Win 8 upgrade

    Hi everyone, I run Toshiba SATELLITE A500 - 1C0 (PSAR3E-01300WPL) with Windows 8 PRO x 64.

As I noticed - post factum /:-'Models supported' not supported for Windows 8 drivers of my PC.

Although, the computer will work perfectly, but I have a little problem with my drivers: the Panel at the top of the keyboard (http://goo.gl/IQVAG) works not only put on mute, volume up/down work, but the ECO button and media buttons are NOT - is there any method to upgrade the drivers so that I can use all the keys?

I installed TOSHIBA eco utility and it works fine, but the buttons do not respond. I can't find and update the driver/ulitity that is responsible for this issue.

I also want to ask if there is any chance to get the TOSHIBA for Win.8 drivers for my Satellite A PC series in the future. Y at - it a utility to analyze and automatically update TOSHIBA drivers? (but not Toshiba drivers Update Utility, which does not work in my case - it offers me to downgrade my drivers!)

I opened the Device Manager and tried to update the drivers manually, but - that's even BIGGER problem then eco Panel etc. - some devices are marked as "unknown devices" and may not be recognized at all.

    Thank you for your help,
    oddajlatarke

    > is there a method to upgrade the drivers so that I can use all the keys?

Method? Name is no other method as to try some tools to win 8 released for other series of laptop. The multimedia button requires installation of VAP (value package).
Check and test the VAP to win 8 released to win 8 supported notebook series.

    > I also want to ask if there is any chance to get the TOSHIBA for Win.8 drivers for my Satellite A PC series in the future.
As you said above; computer laptop isn t Win 8 supported model, so I doubt that you will get all the drivers Win 8 in the future.

  • Satellite A500 - 14Q - Microphone does not work

I have the Toshiba satellite A500 - 14Q for about 3 years. I changed the hard drive, keyboard, frame of the monitor until now, and I'm sick and tired of this laptop does not properly. Now, I've discovered that my microphone does not work. There is no problem in device, or with the driver manager. I hear that crackling noise when I try to enter any other micro device.

    Can anyone help please?

    P. S. I have windows 7 (64-bit)

How did you test the mic feature? With the help of tool tape recorder?
    > the monitor framework
Perhaps you have made a mistake and mic is not connected correctly. Did you do it alone or it was done by the Toshiba authorized service provider?

  • Satellite A500-19w - BSOD BCCode 9 - BAD_POOL_HEADER

    Hey everybody

About 2 weeks ago, I bought a Toshiba Satellite A500-19w. Have been crackling sounds from the speakers, but also error blue screen & restart.
So I decided that I wanted a refund because it was out of the question for me to keep a laptop that has been hurt since the first day.

The Bank refused to give me my money back, instead they gave me a new laptop (the same Satellite A500-19w).

Now, I have the same exact problems, but since I will not get my money, I'm stuck with it.
I've had the laptop for 3 days now, and only today I had 4 blue screen errors (the last 3 times, after windows restarted, I don't even have a log of the error so that I could post it here).

But from what I remember, it was a BCCode 19, & during the last blue screen that I had, I saw "BAD_POOL_HEADER".
I was going through the forums desperately try to find a solution, but have not found anything so far.
I don't know what the problem is, I really need help.

My OS is a Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium.
    (All A500-19w normal sheet example 1 g Ram, 230 M nVIDIA VGA...).

    I really really need help.
I have a lot of work to do and this laptop is the only tool I have.
I don't have access to other computers.

    Help, please.

And one more thing, service of Toshiba Tempro advised me a new update of the BIOS, but when I tried to get it, he told me that ' you seem to have the same version or newer "or something like that & the update did not work.
Yet once, please, I'm desperate for help.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I think the problem is software partner.
The google provides many successes on the BSOD BCCode 19 and the BAD_POOL_HEADER

Unfortunately, it is not easy to say which application or a driver could cause this because its always a different software...

But you can check the minidump file to obtain more details on the error...

Here is a document of Microsoft Knowledge on how to play files of dump Windows creates the memory.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315263

It should help to find the source of the BSOD

  • Satellite A500 - cannot find the display drivers for Windows 7

    I can't find the video drivers for Satellite A500 - 1 c 0, P/N: PSAR3E for Windows 7 x 86.

I tried on the Nvidia site, they recommended the manufacturer's website...

    Hello

Normally, you can get all the drivers here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

I checked this and it seems that for the moment no are no 32 bit Windows 7 drivers available.

What you can do now is looking for other display drivers. Maybe an another Toshiba laptop has the same graphics card and it has Windows 7 drivers released.
Otherwise, you can try the 32-bit drivers for Vista. Normally, they also work on Windows 7.

  • Satellite A500-17 x - micro does not work after BIOS update

I have a Toshiba Satellite A500-17 x which I have just updated the BIOS to version 2, as recommended by the tempro software. Now with the new update my microphone does not work. Where can I download a copy of the old BIOS?

({I used winphlash64 in advanced mode to restore the original backup, it does to the computer, but it just gives the new bios to}) Thank you rich

    Hello

BIOS cannot be demoted in windows mode.
Even if you use an older version of BIOS update, you will get an error message saying that the latest BIOS version is already installed. So, forget the downgrade.

By the way: I put t think the update of the BIOS assigned the microphone.

Go to control panel of-> sound-> recording tab.
Here you will see all the available recording devices (micro)

Activate the microphone it (in this case the people with reduced mobility) and set its default value.

Where it works: reinstall the audio driver.

    Someone at - it indexes?

    Hello

Maybe your card its isn't recognized properly. Have you checked for yellow exclamation marks Device Manager?
Maybe the audio driver. You can find the latest version on the Toshiba site.

Normally you can toggle the icon of volume if you in Control Panel > sounds and Audio devices.
    Check it!

    Hi ciprian99,

Why you want to install this OS for old and obsolete?
Higher versions of Windows 7 also contain a mode of XP virtualization for older programs they need so there is no more reason for the installation of Windows XP.

But if you really want XP, navigate to the page of Toshiba Satellite A500 drivers.
