Re: Bug in my Satellite A300

Hello

A few days ago I got my new laptop Toshiba A300. Now, a few days later, there is a bug inside the screen. First, it moves, but now he has not moved for more than half a day.

The insect is verry much similar to this film to youtube, except he's not moving.
http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=GMp9nC6AG2I

It's very annoying. It's as if I have like 8 dead pizels, but it's the insect (supposed to be dead).
I can't help myself to remove the insect without voiding the warranty?

If not, can I return the phone and get the deleted insect? Because the laptop is "new", I guess this is part of the warranty?

I hope you can help me with this annoying problem.

Thanks in advance,

Beurlap

Hello

It's amazing this kind of problems people have with laptops. :)
Please contact the nearest authorized maintainer and let them clean LCD screen.

In my opinion it is certainly not your fault, and I think that warranty will cover the costs.
Addresses and phone numbers, you will find under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > find an ASP.

    Hello

I own a Satellite A300-PSAJ4E which has an ATi Radeon 3650HD, executed former 8.4 catalyst Windows Vista since I bought my laptop. ATi's catalyst 9.6 published on its Internet site, with many bug fixes and improvements to OpenGL and DirectX 10.1 support.

My question is: what is Toshiba of the policy regarding the provision of updates to its end-users display drivers? Is it possible we (end users) get an update of the display planned for our hardware driver?

    Kind regards
    Ilyes Gouta.

    Hello

I put t know why didn't release another driver yet, but why you want a newer driver?
I mean the drivers from the Toshiba page are pre-tested on your laptop and it should work properly without any problem. For example I never had problems with the drivers of Toshiba.

But you can try to search for drivers for laptop ATI updated the. As far as I know there are tools available that allows to install the drivers Catalyst on mobile Google could help you in this case ;)

  • Satellite A300 - 1 5 ACPI is not supported under Linux

I have laptop Toshiba A300 - 1 5. When I run Windows absolutely everything works fine.
But when I boot Linux (I tested the two 8.10 of Ubuntu and Fedora 10), Fn keys does not work.
Neither is bluetooth, which is a USB hidden and disabled by default.

    I noticed that pilots * toshiba.ko* and * toshiba_acpi.ko* cannot be loaded.
    I tried to load them, but both * dmesg * and said */var/log.messages*: * {color: #000080} not a cell phone supported. {color} *.
    I also tried to use * toshset, toshutil, fnfx *, but they all need * / dev/toshiba * and * / proc/acpi/toshiba * or * / proc/toshiba * exist.
And it is impossible to load them, because the cell phone is not supported.

    I have two questions:

1 Toshiba plans to cooperate with suppliers of Linux in order to fix this bug.
I have visited many Linux forums and many people's complaint they have keys functional unfunctioning under Linux.
So, I think that if the product is thrown on the market, it must be supported, is it not?

    2. How can I temporarily fix this bug to get the missing functionality before the next version of Ubuntu or Fedora? Can someone advice any solution.
(Well, please don't say: leave Linux and use Windows.) I want to use Linux, not Windows. "And I want a job in the same way).

If you want additional information about a bug, I will provide.
    Thank you very much.

  • Satellite A300 - his stutters when I enable Wi - FI turns

    Hello!

I am owner of a Satellite A300, and almost from the beginning, I noticed some occasional stuttering on the sound.

Really got me bugged with this question, and I tried several times to solve. I even got to the point of resetting the default computer. Sooner or later, the same problem started again.
I even started a thread in the media forum, without a solution for the bug. Even if I had a valuable contribution on an antivirus I've tried and I think is quite good, avira.

Let me describe more accurately 'symptoms:

    * I recently discovered, this annoying behavior isn't random.
    * The stuttering is repeated at the minute, all about the same second every minute.
    * This led me to suspect a certain type of hardware/software cyclical behavior.
    * I guessed the laptop components that could have this kind of cyclical 'check' could be wireless equipment, for example, searching for a kind of networks.
    * Immediately, I turned off the switch.
    * Waiting for this ' second marked "happen and to my surprise, the suttering did not.
    * WAIT a few minutes and the situation remained out of any disruption.
    * then I turned the switch back on and within seconds after 4 or 5, the suttering returned and again the minutes that follow, by the same second.
Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this problem?
I have to say that sometimes, I am able to have the switch on without problems. In this case (I think) when I start the system with the switch, wait until the system is fully elapsed, turn on the switch and start a had-hoc wifi network that I created on my laptop to share my computer with a dsl connection laptop here at home.

But right now, I booted the system with incidentally on switch (even got stuttering on the welcoming sound of windows) and in this session, I was not able to maintain the switch without the "bug", again. Even if I activate the had-hoc wifi network (i.e. activation worked on other times), I can't get the stuttering sound, without having to press the switch.

    See you soon!

    Hello

What are you writing about? Your laptop starts with windows media player playback music or how to understand this?

I have Satellite A300-1LI in front of me, and I tested it with Vista preinstalled original. Work on my Satellite I like listening to music or simply Internet radio. I can switch on / off WIFI, but there is no difference. Absolutely no sound stuttering.

Believe me, that's not easy to say why this happens. I do not understand why you write about the bug. Why my laptop doesn t have the same bug that your?

This happens when you only use the WLAN switch or when you use the FN + F8 key combination too?

  • Satellite A300 - cannot install the BT stack

    Hello evryone,

I had a problem with the bt stack and the file "setupdiu.exe".

When I try to install battery bt it tries automatically to uninstal the battery, the problem is I get the error:
"The file Setupdiu.exe is not marked for installation.

I looked everywhere, but the only solution given is: delete the folder "C:\Program Files Toshiba Stack.

I got this deleted file, I got the hidden files and I tried to remove the map with CMD and all other means to delete something with her, but he tells me that the map does not exist.

I deleted the folder bluetooth stack for windows by toshiba in my registry and restarted, this also does not work.

I have Windows Vista Home premium (32 bit) and my laptop is a toshiba satellite A300-1OS.

I tried the "Difficulty" of Toshiba, this installed bluetooth stack tool and I run, helped not a little.

I really want to have this problem, because he bug on the other bluetooth software and connection.

    (Sorry for my bad English)

I am grateful to anyone who can help,
    Live Justin

I think the problem is, as you said, that the previous version was not properly removed. I would setup a tool such as
"ccleaner" (free Internet) and clean your system registry and files. Maybe it works eventually. If not then your system in Mode safe start (press F8 during startup and check your system files again if some battery Bluetooth related files still exists and remove them if necessary)

  • Why is it so slow on Satellite A300 PSAG8E SSD

    Hi, guys

Please help me with the following question. I would like an admin to help me please, or someone very experienced, if possible.

2 weeks ago, I bought a Satellite A300 PSAG8E. A couple of months before the purchase of this laptop, I had also bought a disc SSD OCZ 64 GB core series v2. I tried several times to install the SSD drive on the laptop, but the answer during the installation of windows and after that when using, the reader response is very, very slowly. It is still slower than with its original 250 GB drive. I compared the SSD with SISOFT SANDRA and confirmed my impression.

The SSD was assessed at 5400 RPM, strangely the same speed as the original HD 250 GB supplied with the machine.
I've used different windows CD (including one with SP3) and earlier with SP2, the two original windows, but nothing has changed. I then installed my SSD on my desktop computer and installation and use in the windows environment, is incredibly fast. I put it on the laptop and it's still very, very slowly.

What is going on? Do you have any suggestions? Y at - it a bug using the SSD on my model?
    Y at - it a firmware update?
I think it has something to do with the transfer rate of the laptop. Can you help me please?
    What can I do?

    Kind regards
    Dionisis Falireas

    Hello

May I ask how you installed the Windows XP operating system on this new SSD?

As suggested above the SATA drivers must be installed or included in the Win XP operating system.
The SATA drivers are located in the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
The package contains the necessary drivers and theses drivers allow you to use the full capacity of SATA controller.
Intel Storage Manager can be downloaded from the page of Toshiba and Intel page.

By the way; It seems that the OCZ 64 GB SSD supports SATA II but I m quote do not know if your A300 supports SATA II or SATA only.
If it supports only SATA, then this might be the reason why your SSD does not work with the best performance.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A300 - Win Vista instalation disk missing

    Hello world.

This is my first time on any forum ever :)

In August 2008, I bought laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 - 149. There was a lot of turbulence in our relationship, but we always went by them so far.

Some time ago I added an additional hard drive just for the system. I did it just to have all important data in the entity. This extra drive decided to die.

The problem is that there is no more the oryginal disc recovery so I have a laptop, hard drive and the product key for windows, but no instalation windows disk or at least file.

Can you please help me and tell what should I do now because I can't undo what I've done already :)

    Hello

Your A300 was delivered with the operating system from Vista preinstalled (recovery image). This recovery image is saved on the HARD disk. Operating manuals s described document that each owner of the laptop must create the installation of recovery disk using pre-installed recovery media creator tool.

If I understand you right you didn't he create if it is your only error.
    What can you do now?
    You have two options:
1 / you can order the original recovery disc - https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
2 / you can install own OS version

I have too many A300 and for three years I use it with Windows 7 32 bit. It works perfectly and much better than original Vista.

In any case, you do need to make the decision. If you have any other questions do not hesitate to ask.

    Good bye

    But he'll do.
I tried the F8 key during startup, but that foesnot give me the recovery menu.
I tried the solution key 0. But this does not work either.

It remains startsup windows in a recovery status. And ends with a message (in Dutch): "Kan geinstalleerde niet het programma starten. Klik op OK als u wilt uitschakelen computer.

I do however can start with a knoppix cd and see the entire disk. And I could save almost all the data.

    Can someone help here?

    eyes of Jan

You have created DVDs of recovery following advice in the document s user manuals?
If Yes use this support to reinstall the original Vista recovery image.
Is preinstalled original Toshiba Vista or your own installation?

By the way: I have the same machine and I use Win7 32 bit. It works perfectly on the A300.

    Hello

Perhaps some may say where I can buy hard disk for the motherboard conector?
I have place for HDD and connections on the motherboard, but don't not have hard drive connector.
    Camputer are 1gn A300.

    Help, please!

    Hi Lotus

Toshiba offers Satellite A300 with one or two hard drives with two different mothers. Plastic cover is the same for both models of laptops and that's why there are two disk HARD covered and placed two HARD drive. Laptops without SATA connectors are not ready for the upgrade.

No one here in this forum has reported that these updates possible if laptop doesn t have original SATA connector to the second HARD drive, so I think that you cannot upgrade your laptop with the second HARD drive.

By the way: it's not easy to find these parts.

  • Satellite A300 restarts randomly when it is plugged in power chords

I know it has been on many topics and forums before but-

Satellite A300 Toshiba registered repairman after only another technician claimed the question was the motherboard.

So a new hard drive had to be replaced (it was old age) by registered repairer.

Graphics card died - map is part of the motherboard = motherboard replaced.

Supposed to win - phone to make sure everything is well = "there still the issue."

QUESTION = RANDOM COMPUTER RESTARTS WHEN THE POWER CORD IS PLUGGED

Don't forget not that the shop has been informed of the initial question
    1. phone call.
    2. by myself (wife) when I dropped the camera repair
    3. in the drop by my husband via phone
    4. by myself at diagnosis
5 once again by my man when diagnostics
    6. by my man when he discussed the hard drive with 2 people at the store options
    7. after replacing hard drive
    8. by myself when new montherboard was "mandatory".
    9. my man at the same point

So you can imagine today is both 10th, 11th and 12th, the store has been said that they do not listen

I got to say REGISTERED REPAIRER WHAT TOSHIBA to TROUBLE THE PROBLEM!

    NOW for my NEXT question.

On all THE forums I have read about it, I always come back to the same answer - replace NEC/CATHERINE Proadlizer

However, in looking at the published images and instructions I now get the image that this is part of the motherboard also. This is why I wonder how actually to our brand new motherboard installed days ago!

If the capacitor is part of the motherboard I think which was replaced why this question is STILL being implemented?

If not where is it located?

At our graphics card on the old Board REALLY dead?
Or was this like the last technician and as demonstrated - surprisingly not listening?

All related information (and directions to give the tech) would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

I'm really sorry to hear that you have such problems after Exchange of motherboard and I really don't understand why service is not properly check and test the features of the laptop.
To discuss these issues is quite complicated because we can only speculate what may be the problem and no one can say with certainty why this happens.

In my opinion all you can do is to do some tests and try to do a rational conclusion, but in the end service should solve the problem.

Just a few questions about described:
Everything is OK is when you use the power supply battery?
How it works with power supply current when the battery is removed?
Start the machine and enter the BIOS settings. Leave it for a while and check if computer laptop turns off again?
What operating system do you use? Are you using the original OS that you got with the A300 or clean install of the OS?

  • Satellite A300-15B - 300 SATA-Compatible?

    Hi all
I only run Kubuntu (64 bit) for the moment on my machine, but I would add an extra internal hard drive, so to reinstall Vista.

    My questions are:
    1. If there is no problem with the extra hard drive, (the beach is empty then why not add a few outside more GB of storage?)?
    2. I found that good part of WD 500 GB but it's sata 300 so I'm not sure if my motherboard can afford it.

If the above is fine, something extra, off-topic will be if I can still use my windows activation key.

    Many thanks in advance,
    Nikos

    Hey,.

It s absolutely no problem adding a second HDD. As you already wrote, why not add a few more ;) GB

General rule, SATA 300 (> SATA2) hard drives are not a problem. As far as I know Satellite A300 already supports SATA2 and if not all SATA2 hard drives is compatible downgrade SATA1 interface. So each SATA HDD work on each controller SATA, no compatibility issues don't.

If you install Toshiba Recovery disk Windows, no activation or product key is required.

  • Satellite A300-237 - what external monitor?

    Hello

    I would buy an external LCD 19 "monitor for my Toshiba Satellite A300-237. Which is better: 4:3 / 16:9 / 16:10 / 5:4?

    Thank you

    Hello

    What image format you prefer?
You should buy a monitor with your favorite image format.

Generally speaking all the works according to the user manual and external monitor, your laptop supports up to 2048 horizontal and 1536 vertical pixels up to 16 m of colors on the external monitor.

  • Satellite A300-17N - t - it have port series and how to get there?

    Hello

To help my studies in microcontrollers, I need serial port, but I did not on the Panel of my laptop. I know that some laptop models have one on their motherboards, but is not on the Panel. If satellite A300-17N is one of them I enjoy any help and instructions how to get manually.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Satellite A300-17N doesn t have serial port and AFAIK no Satellite A300 was equipped with this port.

But I saw a few online shops, they listed an Express card that offers the serial port (RS232). I found one on Amazon:
    http://www.Amazon.co.UK/STARTech-com-16C950-ExpressCard-serial-adapter/DP/B000PE6G04/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&QID=1300736594&SR=8-8

I think it would be easier and less expensive way for serial port. :)
