  In General, your friend IT is right. On mobile laptops graphics card is attached to the motherboard and cannot be replaced or upgraded.

  In such cases service order new mainboard and replace it. Problem is that this new mainboard is quite expensive.

  Your description is a bit confusing.
  So here are my Tips how to connect the laptop for WiFi using the Vista operating system.

  First check if your WiFi is turned on. You must use the key FN + F8 to go tot eh card WLan and then turn on the WLan switch on the side of the laptop.

  According to your WiFi (Atheros or Intel) card I advise to use a WLan configuration as Atheros Client Utility or Intel ProSet Utility tool.

  You can use these tools to configure WLan. I use one of these tools and I can connect and configure the WiFi network very easily.

  If you want to use the Vista WLan own configuration options, can access the network locations and right click on the WiFi connection.
  Choose then rebuilt Waln connection or something like that.
  Then choose your WLan which has been configured on the router WLan and put the right encryption settings and you should be able to connect to you wirelessly.

  I bought a Satellite L300D without cause OS I have a Vista Edition home premium 64-bit.
  I was a little surprised that no driver disk has been delivered.

  Good - I found the download page for the driver for this laptop (www.toshiba-tro.de) and a Realtek wlan driver was offered (I think it's THE pilot - rest can be downloaded directly from the laptop - if it would work...).

  In the APPR. WLAN knowledge base I should consult a how-to - built.xxxx to discover the correct wifi hardware of the laptop. But I could not find this doc...
  OK - so I installed the CD (or better: I tried) after download - start the setup of realtek semiconductor - but nothing happens. The WLAN led is still orange (I think should be green). The Vista Device Manager only tells me no unknown device - really shows nothing else.

  After the initialization of the system told me, this Ethernet controller is missing. Pls insert pilot etc...

  So now my questions:
  Does anyone know which wlan driver I need to download for this laptop?
  Or I did something wrong?
  There is a collection of all the required drivers for this laptop?
  And at least:-exact, what no driver have been delivered (cardboard was sealed by Toshiba)?

  On the European Toshiba driver page you will find the 64 bit Vista for different Satellite L300D series drivers the PSLCGE does not provide all of the 64 bit Vista drivers, but you might try the drivers from other series L300D/L350D.

  In this case, you should try to install VAP (value added package) and the FN keys are controlled by VAP

  Check if it will work!

  After two years I had to reinstall my computer laptop satellite with windows vista. Here's the problem that the productkey is not readable. So I used a little program (productkey86.exe) out of the registry. So far so good. So I installed vista with this productkey but now my computer is telling me that I need to activate. When I try to activate microsoft says: impossible to activate the product.

  Does anyone know what I need to do?

  The problem is that the key on the lower side is an OEM license key and doesn t work with normal Vista installation diskettes. So that s the problem why you can t activate your Vista installation.

  You wrote that you have a Vista installation disc. Why you n t use the key that belongs to this disc? This would work ;)

  Have you turned on the switch on the side of laptops?
  I put t know not which way the switch is present, but check it must be somewhere on the side.
  This switch must be turned on everything first, then you can use the FN + F8 key combination.

  Part of the documentation in the box suggests that I should be able to simply install XP from the recovery disc. I tried this, but I can't activate XP.   Usefully, there is no instructions on the packaging of recovery DVDs, I expected maybe a XP product key or something... But clearly not.

  Of course, it is not enough to run vista with good performance. 1 GB minimum Ram required to run Vista, better than 2 GB ram
