No problem here with Word. You may need to remove all of Office 2011 and reinstall. But whatever problem you're having with Word, it is not related to OS X, or updates.

You can then go ahead and buy Lightroom and perform the tethered shooting.

  • Within the VM, Apple_Boot Recovery HD with all the extra partition space, so cannot complete resize

With the help of VMware Fusion Version 8.1.0 (3272237), I installed OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) via the recovery disc option. The default size of the drive was 40 GB, but I wanted 250 GB.

When the parameters arose during the virtual machine creation process, I changed the size of the disk of 250 GB. A message pops up saying that resizing would take place after the virtual machine has been restarted. Thus, creating the VM is finished, I rebooted the VM.

The virtual machine on my host shows operating system file size. Thus, the next step was to enter the guest OS and complete resize it using disk utility. However, I kept getting messages on the partition being too large.

Entered the Terminal on the operating system prompted and listed drives so I can get the name of the volume to resize to the command line. Found this:

    list of $ diskutil

    / dev/disk0 (external, physical):

    #: NAME SIZE TYPE IDENTIFIER

    0: GUID_partition_scheme * GB 269,5 disk0

    1: disk0s1 EFI EFI 209.7 MB

    2: Apple_HFS ElCapitan_VM 42.6 GB disk0s2

    3: Apple_Boot Recovery HD 225.5 GB disk0s3

Note the size of the Apple_Boot Recovery HD partition! This is supposed to be something like 650 MB, not GB225.5! (I hope my formatting remains, as I saw an option 'pre' or 'code' Editor < pre > and in the editor HTML didn't work.)

I've not retried the vm creation, since it is a lengthy process. No idea what might have happened? Or how this can be corrected without re-creating the virtual machine from scratch?

We have seen this issue, as well, and we reported it to the Apple... It looks like the storage of carrots merges horribly when a disc is "grown" and wrongly grows Recovery HD instead of the main partition.  I guess that a "growth hard disk" is something which cannot appear in a virtual machine, not on a Mac in the real world, it is perhaps not a scenario that Apple engineers had examined.

Looking through our internal notes on this question, we had an engineer suggests that the problem can be avoided first reducing the primary partition (in disk utility) before more and more to fill the available space.  I have not tried this out, and I don't know if it can help to recover once you are already in the situation you are in.  If it doesn't help out you immediately, you might want to give it a try in a fresh VM.

    I hope this helps!

  • How to copy the recovery on the new HARD drive partition, HARD drive failed?

    Hallo,

I have a Compaq Mini netbook with Windows 7 Starter.

The HARD drive has failed and it is not repairable. However, it seems that the recovery partition is OK.

I want to buy a new HARD drive, install the driver on the netbook, and then use the tools/recovery partition to install windows 7 on a new PC.

So, the question is simple: how to copy the recovery for the new HARD drive partition?

    Hello s91066.

If your hard drive of your laptop doesn't have? If this is the case, what do you mean by the "recovery partition is ok? I doubt that this laptop has two hard disks, so if you are able to see this partition of your hard drive may still work.

You will need a set of recovery disks to restore the partitions on the new drive. If you can start Windows, which you can probably not with a dead hard drive, you can follow these steps if you can get into Windows.

If you are unable to boot into Windows, you need a set of disks. You can order it directly from HP. The number of the United States / Canada is 1-800-474-6836. If you are in another domain, you must visit HP's Support around the world to find contact information for your region.

I hope that is useful; have a great weekend!

  • Rescue and recovery software will not remove preinstalled Partition

I recently had a T450s by a great process and tries to get her comfortable environment again.

My two latest Lenovo laptops had a recovery in the stock installation partition, and I was able to remove simply by running the top software and selecting an option amounting to "delete backup partition" or something allowing me to back up c.

On this machine, I ran the software and he gave me an option to create a recovery media more. I installed the software, Thinkvantage Rescue and Recovery, and he has an option to delete backups, but does not recognize the partition.

It's deeply annoying, I do not use it and he eats up to 15 GB. If anyone has a solution for this, please let me know.

    ADDENDUM:

Moreover, now the software on the partition is not ongoing, saying: it does not find "recovburncd.exe" and try again. Help, please.

So reinstall RNR has failed, but I realized that I could go into administrative tools and modify the disk partitions.

I now have this problem solved, thank you for your comments.

    10.11.2 OSX

iMac 27 inch end of 2013

    3.5 GHz Intel Core i7

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2048 MB

    DDR3 4 GB 1600 MHz

My iMac is buggy since upgrade to 10.11. Some programs crash frequently, and just recently, the system began to be insensitive, that needs to be forced to withdraw from the machine. Usually, when the system crashes like this, the mouse moves, but he will be.

Twice on startup until I received the No. or prohibitive symbol showing no disk or operating system is not found.

So, I tried a system restore to reinstall El Capitan. Everything went fine until I select the disc to install to. Then the system stops responding again once, completely frozen and I can without restoring.

So I tried a restore from Time Machine early in the day. I think that would help, but do it anyway. It did not help, the system is still buggy.

I ran the disk first aid.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? What's wrong? Of fact need the operating system reinstalled? Why restoration is stalling?

    Thank you!

I think that you have a failed disk drive.

    > 1) would be reformatting my laptop fix these problems?
    Probably yes

(> 2) 2 discs "TOSHIBA satellite p300 etc. product recovery media and said windows vista ultimate 64-bit.
As far as I know that P300 was equipped with HARD drive recovery and Vista 32 bit was preinstalled. There should be an option that allows to recover the laptop using the recovery of HARD drive option. Press F8 when the laptop starts up. Then choose fix my computer and start HARD drive recovery.
This should set the machine to factory settings. Finally, you can create a recovery disk using the Toshiba recovery disc Creator called preinstalled software.

(> 3) should I make a copy of the PRODUCT ID series vista on my system menu screen
You can do this, but as far as I know the Vista on the Toshiba Recovery disk is already enabled and you don t need the series keys.

(> 4) how would these discs...
Usually you have to boot from that disk

PS; For more details you should read the user manual and must read the discussions in this forum!

    Hello

Your recovery Partition was photographed on your hard drive during the production of your computer by the manufacturer for all of these reasons.

    1. to reinstall Vista from in the case of a failure of the system, based on individuals or the keys at startup.

F10 or Alt + F10 or F11 are a couple of different manufacturers use sequences.

You will need to ask your manufacturer for proper sequence.

    2. to make the recovery disks on if your drive hard breaks down, so that you can then reinstall the operating system on a new hard drive.

Also ask them how to make records.

Your D: Recovery Drive is should not be used for backups, defragmented, etc..

There are backups on an external hard drive.

To resolve the problems that have arisen with the recovery D: Partition, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer to remove all that has been added to it.
