  If your laptop has Windows 8 or higher, Microsoft codes the license on the hard drive rather than put a sticker on the base. Sounds like the repair people could have used a dubious copy to reinstall it on the new hard drive. Microsoft may allow you to report it as pirate software, but I'm not sure they'll give you a free copy. The other alternative is to contact ToshIba to buy a complete set of recovery disks, or take it back to the shop.

  If you do not remove the previous version, you should have two icons on your desktop. Adobe and adobe Muse Muse CC 2014. Make sure you are clicking on Muse CC 2014, not Adobe Muse. Better to remove the old version and check it again, it should be good.

  My laptop has been recently would be RMA and they replaced the motherboard, keyboard and VGA card. Shortly after receiving this return, Windows began to ask for an activation code. Unfortunately, I didn't write mine down, and the sticker is now faded and illegible.   If you get a disc error, then it would seem more likely to be a hard drive failure.

  View the results you get on the test drive.  If your drive is failed then try to restore or recover simply will not work. A replacement hard drive will be necessary.

  You may be able to recover your data on the disk by putting it in an external enclosure and connect to another Windows PC.

  Note Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 editions are specific. If your system came with Windows 8.1/10 unilingual homepage, Windows 8.1/10 will not be activated.

  Unfortunately there is no clear marker for end users to determine the edition so my advise is to try first to try Windows 10 Home, if she does not activate Windows 10 unilingual homepage.
