Re-install Windows 7 HP used the activation key.

Hello

I had a problem with my computer and I had to reinstall my windows 7. However, when I start my computer it asks me to activate it, but I can't because it says I have already used my product key. I have the product key, CD and everything that came with the box.
Can you help me to recover my old key?

Concerning

Marek

You should be able to use the same product key, simply reactivate by phone:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

(2) press the ENTER"" key.

(3) select your "country" in the list.

(4) choose the option "activate phone".

(5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

(6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

You can re - download Windows here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only

Remember that you may need to reinstall your previous version of Windows if you have purchased an upgrade key.
Instead of reinstalling Windows, I advise to use the functions of refresh or Reset in Windows 8, it is much easier and will probably solve your problem.
The update will preserve your data, but you will need to reinstall your office programs. I try this first and if it doesn't solve any problem you are experiencing, then look in the reset option.
A reset will erase all your data and programs and put Windows to an out of State of the box, so you will need to backup all your data on external media before running it. It is essentially a reinstall of Windows.
  • New HDD installed - Windows constantly asking for the product key

HARD drive broke down, so I got a new HARD drive installed in the workshop for repairs a few months ago. Everything was fine until recently when Windows keeps always ask the product key to activate Windows. It is said that the license expires Dec. 27.
Do you know where to find this key?

If your laptop has Windows 8 or higher, Microsoft codes the license on the hard drive rather than put a sticker on the base. Sounds like the repair people could have used a dubious copy to reinstall it on the new hard drive. Microsoft may allow you to report it as pirate software, but I'm not sure they'll give you a free copy. The other alternative is to contact ToshIba to buy a complete set of recovery disks, or take it back to the shop.

    Thank you

    Hello

All this is a bit complicated with WXP and it is important to install everything in the right installation order. After some base such as chipset, display and sound drivers you need to install the common modules at the beginning and continue with Toshiba-specific tools and utilities like controls, screen, energy saving and so on.

You can use a combination of FN keys or none of them does not work?

If it came preloaded on your computer:

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For LG, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

For Samsung, press F4 to the power upward...

For Fujitsu, press the F8 key directly after the power

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".

    Thank you very much

    Thank you

    auntsands50,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.  I need to get the details on your situation.  You say that you want to uninstall XP?  It will be the only way to install another operating system or use a program that will allow you to erase the hard drive.  You mention that you got a virus and you tried to do a restore.

So my question is what are you trying finally to accomplish?  Do you want to just get a virus on your system or you want to wipe the drive and reinstall XP.

If you want to remove a virus, then here is a link to a program free antivirus that you can use to help clean your system: http://www.microsoft.com/Security_essentials/

If you want to restore your system to factory default then you will need to boot from your XP cd or use the OEM solutions provided with your PC.  http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/316941 Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

  • Re: Unable to activate Windows Vista Business using the Microsoft key

I am facing difficulties to activate the microsoft package, whenever I enter the product key printed on the label attached to my pc, it says wrong key.
    Help, please.

The key to Microsoft, that you can find on the lower side of your laptop is not a kind of universal key and this key belongs to Vista preinstalled on your laptop. You got your laptop with Vista preinstalled. With your laptop, you have paid a license and an operating system.

After recall of Toshiba you must create Toshiba Recovery DVD or this facilities you can use if often you want with your laptop. This version of Vista belongs to you and can only be used with your laptop.

If you are using Microsoft facilities DVD you must have the key for this version. If you do not, you must purchase a key online and activate a preinstalled Vista version.

  • SERIOUS problems with the activation of Windows key, Windows on Macbook via the activation key (hard to read now) / windows (Parallels) "IS VALID", but I did "" Installation disc. IMMEDIATE assistance.

I bought Parallels for my Macbook and moved my Windows to him, but after a month or two, I was invited for a product key that I have written, but was rejected and I have since then been locked my window and my data lost as a result, I have an installation disc and product key that I "KNOW" is correct doesn't work ' ". Someone please tell me what the matter, is because I'm seriously at my wits end.

The problem is not a software but a licensing of one.

Your existing OEM license cannot be transferred to a new machine--and it is difficult to do a upgrade to a non-genuine system (by design).

You always have your machine 'physical Windows' available? He's still in the original configuration that you want to transfer?

Apply you the full Ultimate who license and activate it, then repeat the virtualization

The new virtual machine will still complain of activation status initially, but you will be able to reactivate in the virtual environment.

You then have to take back the physical machine to the Home Premium of origin by a reinstall license using recovery madia or sale at retail or restore an image from before the upggrade.

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

If your computer comes with a qualifying previous license such as Windows Vista or Windows XP and the certificate of authenticity is still attached to the machine in good condition, then the COST is reason enough to represent the compliance to the software license agreement. No previous required software installation, which means you can do a clean install with Windows 7 Upgrade disk.

How to do a clean install with upgrade disc:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

    Click Install now

    Accept the license agreement

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

    Click on drive Options

Select the disc/s click on Delete

    Click new

    Click on apply

    Click OK

Click Format, and then click next to proceed with the installation

    Three options.

    (1) start from the XP CD, format the HARD drive, create TWO partitions, install XP on the first then the second 7.

    (2) use virtualisatioin if your machine it handles pretty well. Install Virtual PC or VMWare Server and install XP on a virtual disk.

    (3) (easiest if you have Pro 7, Ultimate or Enterprise) download and install XP Mode

    Concerning

    TonyB76

    Hello Tony

It depends on the type of license that is on the PC. to determine this, the simplest method is to run the MGADiag tool:

Download MGADiag (by Microsoft) from the link below:

    http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=52012

Run the tool by double-clicking the file. Press to continue when prompted

When it is finished, press on copy and then paste (Ctrl + V) in your next post please

Please also indicate which version of windows is mentioned on your COA sticker (if you have one) but do not publish the key.
