Re-start Palm TX

How can I perform a hard reboot of my Palm TX to remove an existing application?

Are you sure you want to reset hard it?  Deleting an application is easy - your Launcher screen, open the drop-down menu (menu icon in the status bar, or tap the upper left corner of the screen).

Choose 'delete '.  Now put you the program you want to remove, and highlight it.  Press the button of deletion below.  Fact!

If you really want to Hard Reset:

To perform a hard reset: (Palm Knowledgebase article #887)

By now the power down button, press on and release the Reset button on the back and continue to press the Power button. When the gray Palm logo is displayed, you can release the Power button.

You should now see the warning in 5 languages page. Press the direction upward on the 5-way keypad to perform the task. The Palm restarts several times as it re - install the original programs and erases all data from your previous.

  • Palm TX will not start without being plugged in the AC adapter / CC & WiFi turned off completely during authentication device

My daughter just got a Palm TX away two days ago.  I have 2 questions - we have plugged and loaded as described in the manual, but no matter what I do, it does not start when it is disconnected from the mains (first edition).  When you are connected to the wall, the unit seems to work correctly except for the WiFi, which causes the device to stop trying to autheticate on my network ((deuxieme question).  The only way I can get the unit to turn on once it has closed is with a soft reset while being plugged into the wall.  Once I have unplug the power cord, the device stops and does not start at all with a soft/hard reset either by the power button.  I did a full hard reset last night and let it charge again for 3 hours plugged into a different plug, but I still have the same issues.  Is there a fix or the update available that solves these problems?  Is my daughter S.O.L. because the device is obsolete and is no longer officially supported by Palm/HP?  Any help or idea would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Hello geekdad, sorry to hear about the TX problem.

The TX debuted in 2005.  Your looks to the battery is dead for a long time and has other problems as well (Wifi kill him).

There are websites that will fix Palm PDA, if you choose to do so.  DirectFix.com is one, palmdr.com one another.

  • Palm Pre crazy symptoms: 'phone in offline mode', won't charge battery, won't start, message error "an error has occurred that cannot be resolved.

This is a long description of a series of problems with my new Palm Pre. You can search text to find your specific problem. There is no solution in my post. Looking for possible answers in future responses.

I bought my Palm Pre 4 days ago and it arrived 2 days ago. Phone was working fine. Last night I plugged the phone and updated the operating system. After, I've selected "Done" and went to bed.

-First set of questions: 'Phone offline', will not charge battery.

In the upper left corner of the phone, there is the message "phone offline. Although the phone was in charge all night, it reads "battery of 26%. I called the general number of on the Sprint tech support and we tried the following things:

    (1) the phone reboots (press on and hold the power button / stop, then select 'Disable'. After setting down, hold down power button / power stop.)

    (2) to reset the phone (several ways - call tech support so that you do this properly)

The individual Sprint and then sent me to another tech support person, likely to level 2.

    -Second series of questions: message error "an error has occurred that cannot be resolved;

#2 Sprint tech support person had me also to restart and reset the phone in a number of ways. In his own words 'we tried all the palm pre stuff I know' and whenever the phone was insensitive. Often, we received the message error "the phone is in offline mode. We did a full erase and after that the phone will not re-start is no longer. At this point, the error message came up saying "an error has occurred that cannot be resolved" that referred me to www.palm.com for assistance. I think it's important to note here that this was not the typical error message (black screen with white letters) but rather the blue sky with a translucent box on background with white text.

#2 Sprint tech support person then me connected with the support of the Palm and the dance continued. Yet once, we tried a whole bunch of reset and restart and the erasure of the options. Palm support asked me to go to: www.palm.com/rom to download WebOS Doctor, which I did. I downloaded the file. Although that was the case he had hold the button "volume +" and connect the phone to the charger. This caused a USB symbol will appear on the phone. When the record was complete, I got an error message which could not run the file. Palm tech support person seemed surprised. I mentioned that I was on a Mac and he said he couldn't help me. He me transferred to another person from Palm support that works with Mac users.

Palm #2 tech support person advised me that I should have selected the download option 'mac' on www.palm.com/rom. I verbally walked him through the series of Web pages, telling him it is said that you need Windows (any version) or Mac (whatever version), but that at no time was there a possibility to download another WebOS doctor for different operating systems. After an exchange of views over she told me that she would have to have someone call back me tomorrow.

-Third series of questions: phone stuck on the USB symbol.

So for the moment, the phone is completely useless. Not fantastic. I started the mac on Windows 7 and downloaded WebOS Doc and received the same error message. I also ran Windows Vista virtually and received the same error message. Later this afternoon, I head into work to try the same thing on Windows XP.

In the meantime, I got on this forum and found a thread that has provided a direct link to the necessary file:

    Palm.CDNetworks.net/Staging/ROM/webosdoctorp100ewwsprint.jar

After downloading this file, I realized could totally be a virus, I was able to get WebOS Doc work on my computer. It took that I recharge the phone before, and now it's on the screen that says 'do not disconnect your phone' and the full file of 3%. Only... it was completed for almost 30 minutes to 3%.

I hope that Palm will follow-up with me tomorrow, but I'm leaving on a business trip at 7:00 and I would love to have the thing work. All suggestions are welcome, even if you can just tell me how to get her think disconnected safely before my flight tomorrow. I want to get through security with my phone plugged into my laptop.

    Thank you.

I picked up the phone at the local Sprint store and the sales ago replaced the phone. They were unable to understand what went wrong and, essentially, has declared a complete failure of the unit. I'm sorry that I'm not able to offer better news, but I hope that this info is useful to you.

    Hey all,.

I've had my (sprint) Palm for about a year now. Last night I put it to charge and when I woke up in the morning, I found that it does not start. I see that the first 2 screens and then it stops and restarts again. It keeps doing this without pressing me anything. Any suggestions on what I can do? I took it to the sprint store to know what is the problem with him, but they said that they would charge me $50 just to know what is the problem with him.

You can try a warm reset to break the loop (just like a Hard Reset, but hold TOP management pressed instead of the power switch).

If the reset hot gets you the Launcher, then you need to remove any recent program which may cause the problem.

If the above does not work, a Hard Reset is your only alternative.  All your information is secure on your computer and can be returned easily by HotSync.  (You did HotSyncs regularly, no?)

I have loaded 6.2.2 on my new desktop computer (Vista 64-bit). I know that I cannot support the HotSync, but I still like to use the software. I was doing my import of data and got my software on the new computer, but whenever I started it, I got an error message, Expreprt.exe module could not be found. I just clicked on and the software worked for the first day. Today, when I went to use the software, I got this same message, then an error message which says that the software asks the machine to stop in an unusual way and then I get a message that the palm software has stopped working and it stops. I tried to reload the software but nothing has changed. I added a lot of new data yesterday since it was working and now I can't to him? Y at - there another version that I can get it to work? Is it possible to get this working. I can live without the HotSync, but I really like the software.

You do not state that you were going back to an earlier version of Palm desktop. This makes a difference and changes the way to proceed at this point.

You did not export the data, you copied the data files in the user folder. Those will not matter and they are not in the same format as the version of Palm desktop 4.x files.

In order to get your data in Palm desktop, you will need to install Palm desktop 6.2, and then paste the data files, you have in the correct files in the case of user_name. Or you can copy the entire folder of user name that you have saved in the PALMOS desktop folder in my documents. Make sure you use the same username as before. If you used a user name, you will need to copy and paste the .mdb and. mdb.bak files in the appropriate in the case of user_name folders.

Once you have data in Palm desktop, use the following method to export the data and then if you want you can clean uninstall and reinstall version 4.x. When you do that, you can import the files.

The best way to protect your data is to export the data in each category of Palm Desktop in a separate folder on your PC.

Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that suits. Name it something like Palm Desktop data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on this page for the export procedure.

    http://www.Palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?id=28734

Make sure you only select everything for the beach in the export window.

With the data stored in the created folder, make a copy of this file and save it on a USB key, cd - rw or external hard drive.

Whenever you change in Palm Desktop, export the data that has been changed in this file and save again to external media.

With this process you can always import the data in Palm Desktop, whenever you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop, or if your computer/hard drive/device crash.

At this point, it seems that your device is in a reset in a loop because of the incompatible application.

Try warming system reset in the following link to see if you can stop looping.

Click on the following link for the Web page of kb.palm.com for the article about the reset procedure.

    http://www.Palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?id=887

If you can get the device to stop a loop, try hotsync and see if you can get your data backed up.

After synchronization, you will need to do the following to remove the incompatible app of the sync process ' ing.

Hard reset your device and rename your backup folder. Go to http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887 and follow the directions to do a hard reset. Then before of you hotsync your data back you will need to rename your backup folder, to do than go here.

    XP
C:\Program files\palm or palm one\ [hotsync username]------and rename your backup
    file Backup.Old

    Vista
    Start--> documents\Palm OS Desktop\ [hotsync username]------and rename your backup
    file Backup.Old

Then hotsync from your current name of hotsync and all your contacts, calendar,
    tasks and memos coming back.

Show the file extensions for XP or Vista

    XP
If you cannot view the extensions of file on your PC I would you open a
folder, go to Tools--> Folder Options--> View (tab) and under Show hidden
files and folders to uncheck Hide extensions of known file types.

    Vista
Open control Panel, go to--> View (tab) and under show hidden folder Options
files and folders to uncheck Hide extensions of known file types.

If the previous steps do not resolve your problem, you will need to hard reset.

You can try a hard reset to fix the problem. The hard reset will erase all data on the device.

    Hello m505userHB,

First of all, try to perform a soft reset. To get instructions on how to do this, take a copy of the User Guide and head to the 229 page. Also, make sure that your device is loaded.

If this does not work, it's time to do a hard reset. That will delete all the information on your device, but all the information that you have synchronized to the computer will be restored on the next HotSync. Steps to perform a hard reset are on page 230 of the same User Guide

Thank you people much more to Aceeca.com (Palm OS Garnet NEW manufacturers), the USB drivers for Vista, Windows 7 and 8 Win 64 bit operating systems are available.  There are many users Palm Desktop 4.x strives also to the declaration.

I have synced my TX my Vista64 laptop computer bits and Windows 8.1 HP spectrum X 2 hybrid successfully through my USB cable.

    The drivers are located here:

    Aceeca Driver Downloads

(NOTE: as of today, 01/08/2016 Aceeca site to be down for 'construction'.)  Drivers can also be found here: http://www.palmdr.com/windows-7-64-bit-usb-drivers)

Installation instructions for Windows 7 (from Aceeca) are included in the download.

    Basic instructions:

1 download the drivers and extract them in the same folder.  Remember the folder that you extracted to.

    2. try to HotSync your device.  It will fail.

    3. open the Device Manager and look for the yellow Triangle next to the other "Acceca" or "'Palm device ' in the"Other devices"section."

    4. right click on the device and choose "Update driver software".

    5. choose "Browse my computer for software" and guide them to the folder that you extracted the drivers Aceeca.

6 choose 'Next' in the driver and then file location window tell him 'Confidence always Aceeca Ltd. software', then click on the button "install".

    7. I received an error message (Vista64) who told me "the drivers have been installed, but the device could not be opened." I realized my TX had expired, and fell asleep.  I tried a HotSync and it worked!

    Good luck!

NOTE: Palm Desktop 6.22 may only multimedia show and install.  Here's how to fix this:

If Palm Desktop 6.2.2 shows only the media and installation, try this: right click on the shortcut for Palm Desktop, and then choose 'run as administrator '.  Other modules should appear.

To Palm Desktop run as administrator every time in Windows 8 / 8.1:

Close to Palm Desktop, if it is open.  (This is a very important thing to do when you use 6.2.2 - it has been known to lose data when a computer is shut down without closing the program!)

Right click on the desktop icon of Palm in the metro screen, then choose "open file location".  You will now see the actual file for the shortcut.

Right-click on the file "Palm Desktop" shortcut, then properties.  Now, choose the tab compatibility at the top.

At the bottom of the Compatibility tab is a checkbox: "run this program as an administrator", click OK.

Try to open the Palm Desktop, all parties must appear.  You can see a box opens when you close the program asking "did the program runs correctly.   I chose 'Yes', and it has been working fine since then!

If you are using a much older PalmOS device and try using Palm Desktop 4.x, you will need this additional patch Pimlico Software:

  • Palm Desktop 4.2: Palm Desktop 4.2 on Windows 32-bit 10

This isn't a question, some information for fanatical Palm users who might be interested.

Because I have some old software I want to continue to use, I installed the 32-bit version of Windows 10 on my HP Pavilion 1d21dx g6.

I used to synchronize my Palm Centro on a machine to Vista 32 bit running Palm Desktop 6.2. Because some very useful features (such as the birthday in the calendar reminders) disappeared in this version, after setting up 10 32-bit Windows, I decided to try to use Palm Desktop 4.2, the version supplied with my Centro. I am happy to report that I have installed the software, did a HotSync, and everything went very well [WELL, i thought THAT this was the CASE - SEE below]. Now I have all my stuff on the phone and on the machine Windows 10, complete with birthday in the calendar reminders.

The only problem that I had was settting place pipes HotSync for some Palm OS with counterparts of office applications, but in any case, I was able to get the pipes installed by the application of counterpart temporarily running in Windows XP compatibility mode. Once the pipes are put in place, it seem to not need to run anything in compatibility, or administrator mode [WRONG - SEE below].

I have not heard a lot about the 32-bit version of Windows 10, but I like it. I found that it is very fast, and I still have to find an old Windows application that she will not be executed.

I found a solution that worked for me. I realized that something on my setup of Palm caused my Palm user directory switch between C:\Program Files\Palm\Username and C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Palm\Username, leading to duplicate reports, missing documents and the General problems of HotSync. I do not know what exactly triggers the switch every time (I don't think it was just the question of admin rights as I at first suspected), but I think it had to do with some of my Palm to be older than other applications. In other words, some were apparently designed or implemented to date with new versions of Windows in mind, while others were not, and HotSync Manager could not deal with that, because I had everything installed.

In any case, everything started to work properly after I installed Palm Desktop 4.2 directly in the folder C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Palm\

(Of course, in all the above examples, substitute your own "Username" username.)

My thought was to avoid the switch between the location of the traditional repertoire of the Palm and the location of the user directory style Vista by installing Palm software directory in the Vista style directory. I have not experienced any important matter. The only minor issue I have is that HotSync Manager does not automatically start despite being listed in the Startup tab in the Manager of tasks. I'm not going to tinker with compatibility modes and privileges trying to HotSync Manager starts when the computer starts. It is easy enough to just run it whenever I have to synchronize.

You will also need to consider the order in which you install your office-side applications. For example, I found that one of my apps should be executed only once with admin rights so that he could establish his lines. Which seems to trigger a change in the location of the user directory for another application that I use - that does not allow the user to specify an installation directory. I got around this by implementing these apps in the order that I mentioned, while the other user directory would not be changed after creating the first led her.

Of course, my solution has its limits, but it works for my single-user installation.

  • Palm Desktop 6.2.2: Palm Desktop 6.2.2 with Windows 10

What is someone having the same problem:

I installed Palm Desktop 6.2.2 on my Windows 10 system, sync'd and everything worked fine for about 30 days approximately.  The other day I started my computer, went to Palm Desktop and found all the files (in the left panel) disappeared EXCEPT media and install it.   I uninstalled and reinstalled several times (from sources stored and newly downloaded) and still have the same problem.

Since the installation of Windows 10 I found Microsoft seeks to establish, it's default applications with a few applications (a real fight with MS / Chrome and MS / Adobe PDF).

At that time, the folder that I can sync's Photo.   All other folders appear sync, but do not appear in the left vertical navigation bar.
