Re: Update disk hard Equium A200-196 - hidden partition

Having bought just my A200-196, I realize the original 80 GB hard drive will not be soon enough. I want to update before I add too much software. Question is what I do on the hidden partition "EISA Configuration". I guess if it is not present I won't be able to do a system restore. I don't know if I need to copy (clone) for the new 160 GB drive and if so what utility used to copy. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Richard

You are right. Vista operating system creates two partitions; one for the operating system and the other (hidden partition) for the restoration of the system.
If you delete this partition, then you will not be able to use Vista's system restore feature

The update of the firmware are still on the European driver Toshiba page.

These problems without beep code and no post are often caused by the motherboard. I think this part is defective and should be replaced.

  • Upgrade of the disk HARD Equium U400-145

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Equium U400-145 and the vehicle currently has Windows 7 on it and a 160 GB hard drive. Is it possible to move on to bigger hard drive (1 TB) and if so I can use another external HARD disk (that is, connected by USB) to take an image of the current using Clonezilla, then make the hardware upgrade and restore the image to the new drive once its equipped? (Or Windows 7 will need to be reinstalled)?

Theoretically, it should be possible. Clonezilla is unknown to me, but in the past, many people have done a similar thing with other applications like Acronis. In your case, I think you need to use Clonezilla Live.

U400 is God machine and works perfectly with Windows 7. I don't know if you were able to install it perfectly including all necessary drivers, tools and utilities.
Return to the modernization of the HARD drive. I did not have this machine and can not say for sure is everything going to be OK, but I think that new HARD drive should be recognized correctly with full capacity of 1 TB.

  • Satellite L15-S104: update disk HARD 120 GB stock 40 GB

I have a Satellite L15-s104 laptop I want to improve the stock 40 Gig drive to a 120 GB 5400 RPM 8 Meg Cache hard disk my question is how can I delete the old harddrive. I need step by step instructions. Also is my portable drive an ATA-6 or ATA - 100

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello

Your laptop HARD drive is IDE (ATA-6). I don't really know what is the maximum capacity of the disc HARD can be used on your laptop, but I assume that 80 or even 100 GB should not be a problem.

Unfortunately there is no public document on this subject. Hardware upgrade is not directly supported by Toshiba and this will be done by authorized service partners. Try to contact them. They should know for sure if you can use 120 GB HARD drive.

In the lower corner, you will find the HARD drive cover fixed with two screws. Remove this cover. You will see him removing the drive is pretty easy. Disconnect the connector HARD drive mounting (out).

After having done that, you should remove 6 screws that attach the HARD drive bracket and remove the HARD drive bracket.

  • Update disk hard iMac 7.1 to SSD

    Hi guys,.

Here, simple and fast. Because I have 1 million of Apple products, I would not hesitate to upgrade to the new iMac and would in a heartbeat. That being said, this thing WON'T DIE OR EVEN slow DOWN! This is the most amazing piece of technology I've ever owned!

I upgraded the iMac from its original 1 GB to 4 GB, now to run El Capitan. Take it from me, for an iMac 2007 7.1, it works very well. We are talking here 9 years.

Recently I got to know that I can also boost performance by changing to an SSD. Considering it's still practically the State up, don't want to DIY it. Where should I go? Help me keep this miracle machine will please [not that there is anything wrong with the current hard drive].

    Thank you

    Shah

Probably not at an Apple Store. They take over the material that is 5 years or less.

Are - you sure you want to an SSD?  I assume that you do not want to spend hundreds of dollars on a large SSD, but can a weight loss in drive to work for you?

Yes, a performance boost, but if it was me I would not that worth, taking into account the cost.  Is a 9 year old computer and a reasonable size disk + labor will cost you a few hundred to save a few seconds start time of application.

Is it possible to install a larger hard drive for my Equium A60-155. 40 gig becomes limitting.
If so, can someone explain how it's done?
    Thank you very much.

    Hello

As you say the Equium A60 came with a 40 GB HARD drive.
Each BIOS provide different features and supports various HDD sizes.
40 GB HARD drive is a common size and therefore the BIOS could treat s HDD like these:

    ? 30 GB (9.5 mm thick) ATA100 (4 200 RPM)
    40 GB (9.5 mm thick) ATA100 (4 200 RPM)
    60 GB (9.5 mm thick) ATA100 (4 200 RPM)
    80 GB (9.5 mm thick) ATA100 (4 200 RPM)
    40 GB (9.5 mm thick) ATA100 (5 400 rpm)
    60 GB (9.5 mm thick) ATA100 (5 400 rpm)

  • Satellite A200-196 - create a CD factory restore settings

    Hello

Just bought a used computer (Equium A200-196) and want to restore it back to factory settings. Am a little nervous to do it without the restore disks.

    * Is it possible to get a restore CD from the restore settings already on the computer *, just in case it does not work!

Or should I just bite the bullet and go?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

Well, if the Toshiba recovery disc creator is preinstalled on your laptop and the HARD drive recovery image files are available on the second partition, then you will be able to create the Toshiba recover disc.
In addition, you can also try to recover the laptop using the recovery of HARD drive option.

    For more information, check this:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=58

If the two would not work, then you can order this disk to recover from here:

    Hello!

That's why you used the recovery from another laptop disk and it won't work.
I think you need the recovery disk for Equium A200 laptop.

I n t have experience with Symantec recovery function but I can allows you to use a recovery disk Toshiba prefer. This contains all of the drivers and tools of Toshiba and so you can make sure that everything works after that.

If your laptop comes with a recovery disk, contact the nearest ASP and request a new one.

  • Sony Vaio Pro 13 - four hidden partitions, they are good for?

    Question 1:

I bought a Vaio Pro 13 yesterday and am a little surprised that on the 125 GB SSd, I had only 65 GB available for my own data. After looking in the management of the computer disk, it shows me four hidden partitions.

    980 MB OEM partition

    840 MB recovery partition

    260 MB EFI system partition

    15,89 GB recovery partition

While I do not have much on three small partitions, I understand it as the 16 GB in size of the recovery Partition. I have not found a software backup or restore on the laptop but who actually uses this space. If I try to create recovery media, it allows me to use that partition.

    Could you please clarify this?

    Question 2:

If I have a few programs such as Word, Outlook, Chrome, Spotify and Evernote/Dropbox running in the background (without huge image or video files) my RAM is 3 GB to 4 GB. According to me, that this doesn't give me much buffer for the future. inflicts Windows 8 fill the RAM with irrelevant information that can be released when required? In the Task Manager, it shows me that 1 GB is in standby mode, used for cached data and code, but which is not what I mean.

I do think that the recording of the current version and the configuration you have and what in fact the new recovery media point is possible. Support for recovery always returns to its most basic State and cancels all the changes that have been applied to the operating system running. It may be possible, but it would take a lot of research and know how not only open the hidden partition, but also to change its contents.

Great info by the way. I found the info also, that the controller supports only SATA-150.

  • Equium A200-1VO - "a disk read error has occurred."

    Hello

I had my Equium A200-1VO since December 2007 and has never really had any problems with it atall.

However, last night after a Windows Vista update and restart, my laptop won't start upward. I get a black screen announcing:

"A disk read error has occurred.

Please press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to restart»

I've had no BSOD, and no other suggestion that something was wrong, everything worked perfectly. I checked the HARD drive to see if it had come off his link and reinserted it. But I get the same message.

I am presented with the only possibility to use the recovery disk, but this means wiping everything out there and start again. I'd rather try to recover my documents before taking radical measures, if it is possible atall.

If anyone has any suggestions I would be very appreciate.

    Hello

In my view, the error message says a lot: theoretically, your HARD drive may be defective and must be replaced but before that I would test using fitness to drive or another program. Just use Google to find such programs.

Maybe something was tangled up in your Windows installation. About reinstalling Windows?

You didn't back up your data to a second drive? I m wondering about this, because the backup should always be made.
However, if you use an external HARD drive box you can save it on another computer.

    Good luck! :)

  • Equium A200-1V0 - recovery on the new HARD drive problem

    Hello

Hoping someone can help, I just mounted a new Toshiba 1 TB hard drive for my Equium A200-1V0, used the Vista came with the computer recovery disk, everything seems to be installed ok, but when you try to start, I get a message saying that Windows Vista is unable to run on this hardware. Any suggestion is appreciated.

    Thank you

There must be a compatibility problem. Usually the hard drives up to 500 GB are not problematic for the old machines.
If possible, try to install the version of the OS. When you can get Win7 32 bit would be great. Win7 32-bit is supported for your machine and in my view, it will work perfectly.
