Re-upgrade to 8.1 Windows or back to my 8 Windows which was preinstalled on my new Lenovo IdeaPad laptop

I've made many a previous update of Windows 8 on my computer (preinstalled) for the free update of Windows 8.1.  Have had a lot of problems.  I would like to re - move again to 8.1 Windows because there have been many more updates/changes, either back to my Windows 8.  If I ever go back to Windows 8 - I am unable to get my settings to change at work - just put the icon at the bottom of my screen of typing - does not appear where I need to do a refresh or restore.  HELP PLEASE.  In advance, thank you!

Hi Jack,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused. You can not re - move Windows 8.1, you can return to Windows 8 by the updating of the system, and you must run Windows 8.1 upgrade from scratch.

As you mentioned, refreshing would be the best option to solve this problem. However, refreshing will remove the apps that you have installed from websites and DVDS. Then applications provided with your PC and applications that you have installed in the Windows store will be resettled. Windows puts a list of apps removed on your desktop after you refresh your PC.

Then, before updating the computer, please answer us with more information on the issue, including the error message/code. Let's try some troubleshooting steps that may fix this problem. If the problem persists, we will help you to make the updating of the system.

Answer us with more information, we will be happy to help you.

Hello guys, I installed Windows which was not original and now it's not true, I do not know the product key and I want to activate how?

If the edition installed does not match the edition, you have a product key because it will not activate.

If you have a product key for the specific edition installed, try the phone activation:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

I thought changing the incarnation will solve the problem. I have only 2 incarnations, which is used after that the resetlogs which is number 2. So I now use 1 incarnation.

How should I go about this?

    Ok...

Now, what you have to do: If you want to point at the time of recovery, you must have a valid backup plus archivelogs in order to recover up to the desired time.

From now on, full backup is available for the time that you asked, however archivelogs not :(

You must make available, controlfile catalogue and begin to restore, recover up to the hour. Then open with resetlogs option.

So I know that it was Windows 8.1 x 64... But exactly which variation my model comes with?

House? Only one language? "N" ? .... Cannot be Pro.

Is there any way to determine from the embedded in my BIOS product key?

Many sites say it's 'Windows 8.1 with Bing. But there are also 'Windows 8.1 with Bing, one language'... etc.

How can go do a new install of Win 8.1 who to him scoped from the OEM key in my BIOS. I have the model numbers, series and lot etc. on the back of my laptop. If those who can help.

It's probably a question for the experts of HP.

PS: I erased my entire hard drive. So there is nothing more. New installation.

    Hello:

The page of product for your model below specifications indicate that it comes with Windows 8.1 with Bing (64-bit).

I don't think you can use the download ISO W8.1 from Microsoft, because it won't work with the product key OEM of W8.1 in the BIOS.

You need to either use the recovery W8.1 media you did when you got the laptop, or an OEM of W8.1 installation disc.

You laptop has no Pro of W8.1 verson.

The key is stored in THE system BIOS, and is read automatically during a re - install if necessary.  You can see the key using one of the utilities such as Belarc Advisor free system scan.

  • ProBook 4440 s cleanly put to upgrade to 8.1 Windows overheating 64bits

I took my Probook s 4440 which comes preinstalled with windows 7 64 bit (2 years ago) use it with an SSD in the last 8 months.

A week ago I did the following:

    1. open Notepad

2 - took the time to thoroughly clean all vents and fans. almost no dust was found.

3 - do you have a clean install of Windows MS 8.1 64bits.

4 installed MS Office bloatware and other applications.

5 - installed 'certain' HP utilities like power plan a selected balanced both plugged and unplugged

Since I upgraded to 8.1, I noticed that the computer overheats to the point if freezes or slow down.

As for the fan, I noticed that the fan starts at random (or not) when the computer is overheating.

I noticed that the overheating starting on hard drive (to the left of the mouse pad)

If I put my hand on the left vents, I can feel the hot air coming out.

No, its not heavy CPU usage. Sometimes, the laptop is slow but hot.

    Questions

Can what spare parts I use to replace the fan with a greater RPM?

How can I control the fan to be always on (I really don't mind a bit of noise in order to save my investment)

Am I missing some HP software that will control the overheating?

I see that HP has no fan control application and internet tools such as SpeedFan seem not to be able to manage the fan.

It's a workbook perfectly. Suggestions are welcome.

    Thank you

does anyone have a little app to control fan for some probooks (HPFanControl).

Personally, I would go back to windows 7, windows 8 - 8.1 has a lot of problems & bad drivers.

  • The upgrade from Vista to Windows 7: How can I make sure that I keep Microsoft Office

A few months back I took advantage of this offer to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 for a discounted price. After that I downloaded the upgrade file, Upgrade Advisor told me that because I'm using Vista business and I was upgrade 7, that my computer would probably be home must pass through with a 'clean install', thus wiping my hard drive.

That's fine with me, I could just move my documents and Favorites on an external hard drive. But I'm afraid that the upgrade will be wipe my Microsoft Office programs.

I bought this computer a few years ago. I don't even know if I bought the program with office bundled with it, or if I bought it separately (and probably the discs are somewhere in storage).

How can I make this update without losing Microsoft Office? Is it possible to confirm if my word has come with my computer or if I installed it separately. If it came with it, and I lose it, certainly there must be a free way for me to recover. Right?

Any other advice for someone planning on the upgrade?

    Thank you!

You're the one who knows if you installed Office.

Office (Word, etc.) comes for free with Windows. you have to buy.

If Office is preinstalled, it was a test.

A clean installation will wipe everything.

    You cannot transfer programs.

It needs to be reinstalled from the original media.

Nevermind, I just tried the other installation option, which was to "connect another HP device.  Quick install another HP device using software already loaded on this computer. "What does install the new printer driver and my printer can scan now.  Now I go back and delete the old driver.
