  I'm at the office and my laptop cannot see computers on the workgroup in windows Explorer. Network and sharing Center Center + map network shows that my laptop computer, router and internet and one other computer laptop using windows vista (weird). I use Norton 360 version 6.1.2.10 and Norton network mapping feature can see all computers in the workgroup.

  -J' tried to uninstall all windows antivirus firewall and disabling to no effect

  -I can ping all computers on the network and the router successfully.

  -All computers on the network have the same workgroup name

  -Network discovery is on

  -File and print sharing is ON

  -public folder sharing is turned on

  -password sharing is enabled

  -When you use anti virus I have configured the firewall to open all ports to and from the router and the server by IP

  -Although I can ping each computer on the network, I can't access shared folders or map network drives

  -My wireless Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 cards drivers are up-to-date

  -J' tried enabling netbios over TCP/IP without result
  -J' tried to connect to the network via ethernet cable and wireless to see if there was a difference, but there is no change
  -J' checked administrator-services and ensure that all the applicable services have been started and work properly
  If anyone has any other ideas please let me know I hate to admit it, but I encountered a problem, I can not solve it here.

  I am able to remove the old window of Dates in Windows 7 that overlap, when you go on the cleaning disc and touch clean system files, then the update windows clean up rises.  Then, you are able to remove the old of the dates that are no longer needed. This saves space.  Can I do this with Windows Vista?  If so, how?

  This is only for Windows 7 and above.

  Loy Vista doesn't have this option of cleaning disc for Windows Updates and in all probability that Microsoft will not implement what Vista is now in Extended Support.

  Recently I had to reinstall windows vista home premium 32 bit on my old acer aspire laptop. I did a "clean install", all was well with this operation. When I try to perform this action, I get a popup window that informs me of what to know before installing sp1, then I reach a window where I have to accept the terms of the software installation. Once I click on the little square and accept the conditions, it goes to another window with two choices... install & cancel, when I click the button install... instead of windows update download and install the update, I am presented with the view of windows update, the update has been installed successfully When in fact it was not. I prefer to install sp1 via windows update, because she was supposed to be a size smaller than the stand-alone version available on microsofts website. Has anyone else had the same question, and if so how do you fix? Of course this laptop is not my main computer, but as it still works very well I continue to use it.

  Use the standalone version for both SPS.

  Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

  I currently have problems to connect to Windows Update. I can't connect to the site at all and is the "this page cannot be displayed" whenever I try to open it. When you try to update Microsoft Security Essentials, I get error 0x80072EFE. I have already reset Windows Update by the fix in default and in aggressive mode with nothing doesn't.

  EDIT: I also ran several different viruses, malware, and trojan scanners so I'm probably clean them.

  PART A: Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are known to not uninstall (or upgraded) themselves.

  From your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot".

  3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.
