  I'm new to LabVIEW and I take assistance from various videos and stuffs available online to get started with LabVIEW.

  But I have a duty, therefore needing help.

  initially I see some of the tutorial videos and learned about the LabVIEW interface, and does a little project to communicate with the Port series (receiving and sending data).

  Happens to my task.

  My LabVIEW application will send a few State request packets on my device or control and based on the response packet that I have to display values.

  The Structure of package is as

  Header, length, Op_Code, data Checksum

  There is no terminator as newline or carriage return or anything else.

  In C language, I read the data from the Serial Port, and based on the length, I conclude that I got the full package or not, and then by recalculating the checksum value, the integrity of the package is verified and then based on that Op-Code has been sent will be decided.

  (I'm dealing with hexadecimal data)

  But how can I do this in LabVIEW.
  A tutorial or any referece will be useful for me.

  1. I suggest that you learn to use Shift Registers instead of local and global variables.  They are much more efficient (memory and execution speed) and make it much easier to read the schema.

  2. you don't need this inside the loop property node.  Is there a way to configure a Serial Port to turn off the stop character.

  3. you don't need to wait for playback VISA will limit the rate of loop if no data is coming.

  4. Once you have the length, you simply read the rest of the entire message and process it at a time.  This will make things a LOT faster.

  5. you should really do this enum a def type so that you can ensure that all your enum constants have the same values.  If you need to add a State later, simply update your enum in the same place then.

I can read the data and see it as a string to the screen, but when I try to convert it to a double, it is just the integer and decimal numbers have disappeared. Here's the question: what can be the problem? How can I get the decimals as well?

  I need to read data from an instrument using RS-232 serial connection. The instrument transmits data as soon as it is turned on. the power button is on the instrument, and I need to send a signal to transmit data. I use NEITHER usb to RS232 hub as my laptop is not a RS-232 port. I tried the basic writing and read.vi but can't get the buffer.

  Try to run with Hyperterminal to see if you have found anything of your device.  When Hyperterminal works, then try your VI.

  You don't need really the business structure in your vi.  You wiring is difficult to keep up with all these curves and segments being hidden.  Here's how your vi should look like:

  You stop the second for loop using cluster of error which means that your upper and lower loop stops when you press exit but not the one in the middle. In theory, you should send a queue for loops below when you press the exit button and also make sure that you shoot hunting all queues before closing everything.

  I use 3.5 TestStand and LabVIEW 8.je know these are quite old versions now, but we must continue with this on a test bench.

  My question is how can I read data from the file xls using TestStand 3.5? I have already mentioned a few posts on this, and one response suggested that I should use "tGetExcel" using ActiveX adapter. I tried to run the test example related to "http://forums.ni.com/t5/NI-TestStand/Write-or-read-to-Excel-from-TestStand/td-p/250439/highlight/tru...", but a run-time error. He says that "the tGetExcel type library information not found. Make sure that the server is registered in the system.

  TestStand 4.2, I could easily run excel at the base of operations by using the Office Excel Toolkit.

  I was wondering, is there another way, I can read just .xls file data by using Teststand 3.5?

  This shows the limits of excel file loading.

  But you can load the values of the variables-consult the help file / Reference manual for this type of step.

  How to read data from an Excel 2010 worksheet with the .xlsx extension?  The data I want, it's on one of the 10 tabs in the file, I have to choose which programmatically.  I have the Report Generation Toolkit for LV2012, but all the screws that come with it seem to focus around writing data to a spreadsheet Excel and make charts and whatnot.  I want to * read * an Excel worksheet.  Seeking answers led to many 'Open it and save it as tab delimited text', which I can't do because I need data from different tabs, and because this file is quite dynamic with many users opening and adding several times.  In order to save the tab I want as a tab delimited text file per programming, I'm back a square, how to open it?

  My solution would ideally fill in the blanks of: spreadsheet.xlsx---> _---> 2 or 3D data table.

  If I understand, you want to change the columns in the tables of $ E and then load into the target.

  Now, if you notice how ODI recycles the error, there is an incremental update to the target using the E table $ after he filled the I$ table.

  I need to have the drop down dialog box show only the value 1, and after that the user selects, the script returns only the value 2. (The alert is just there to test - I'm doing something else with the variable).

  Is there a way to view the first part of a tab-delimited line in the menu drop down and return the second half as a variable?

  In any case if you have a report like this

  You can do it for the

   SELECT id||APEX_ITEM.HIDDEN(2,id) id,
                  something
  FROM table
  

  And then reference it as APEX_APPLICATION. G_F02 (the first parameter provided to apex_item determine the number) in your process.

  I am currently working on the acquisition of data from a unit of 2 balls of hair, installed with a Zilla controller on an electric vehicle. Hairballs allows other devices to the device through a serial port. The option of data acquisition for displays information like speed, tension etc.

  I use Teraterm, a terminal Communicator to start communication with the device of hairballs. After having sailed in the various menus, I can access the DAQ feature that provides data continuously to the status of the various components of the vehicle. I saved the logfile of teraterm (Teraterm - Results.txt). 5B 01 0b C8 03 53 02 39 27 OMFS is, for example, a sample of data from the module of data acquisition.

  When the port is configured to send these data, I close the program Teraterm and run the LabVIEW VI (read and Write.vi series). It accepts 2-3 rows of data (error LabVIEW - 2.jpg In Motion) and then stops. I know there is a message of error involved, but I think that its storage in what concerns the information in the file (this is another problem, I need to resolve, the file is always empty).

  Could someone help me with this problem please. Why the software ends the execution after only 2-3 loops. Sometimes he starts to accept data from the middle (@ 1 0b C8 03 53 02 39 27 OMFS for example) and stops after displaying the it.

  A time-out error occurred during the transfer. A character not read in the material before the arrival of the next character.

  Your buffer is probably full of data.

• Reading and saving data of two serial ports

  Hi, I googled similar questions in the forum, but I don't have an answer for my problem so I'm posting it here.

  I would read and record data of two balances throgh serial ports. I have a drop down menu in VI, I can choose the availabe ports on my pc. But it is still only one that works. So I only get one data scales them.

  I usually get to choose 6 ports, but only one of them works. So I'm wondering if this is something that has to do with my pc or the VI?
