Readability of SQL Developer Editor

I just spent in SQL Developer of Toad and I found some problems with the editor that make it unreadable.

The first problem is that fonts appear blockier and heavier. Toad and SQL Developer I use Consolas with size 12. I tried to turn on/off the "enable text anti-aliasing" and they are both bad. The question would be that developer SQL does not use clear fonts of the window? If so can it be fixed?

The second issue is that the color of the characters (spaces and line breaks) SQL Developer spaces much too dark. I can't find a setting to alleviate them. Did I miss the setting, or this function can be added?

Not that I know of, sorry.

Kind regards
K.

  • Oracle SQL Developer to the database unifying connection

    Hello community!

    I am developing a SQL string that will pull data from various processes of cost (i plan to wrap the dataview object in a cube and publish a dashboard after that). I was wondering if there is any way to connect oracle SQL Developer for oracle hosted instance unify to create code more efficiently? If so, explain the steps for me please?

    I can get the following information of Oracle BI Publisher, see Exhibit A.

    I have to fill in the fields in Appendix B and this is where I don't know how to do this, see Exhibit B.

    Your help is highly appreciated

    Hi Amir - there is currently no way to directly connect to the DB for unifying hosted environments. We are currently working on this issue.

    In the meantime, you can use the SQL Editor in your BI Publisher server interface. You build instructions SQL can then be pasted in via data in unifying views.

  • OUTPUT OF DBMS FOR SQL DEVELOPER

    Hello people,

    Could someone help me please by allowing the release of DBMS with sql developer. Even when I run any anonymous block, function, or procedure I do not receive the output displayed as "Block PL/SQL executed successfully" or value of return etc. I use "ORACLE SQL DEVELOPER 1.5.5" Editor. Y at - he said something that we would need to do at the time of the installation itself. Please let me know your opinion on this. Thanks in advance

    The 1.5.5 version is very old. Highly recommend the upgrade to the current production version 4.0.3 to Oracle SQL Developer downloads

    If you must stay with 1.5.5, then something like

    Set serveroutput on

    Start

    dbms_output.put_line (999);

    end;

    running in the spreadsheet product out in the tab out of the Script very well. Get out tab out DBMS, however, does not always work.  Note the first icon in the toolbar of DBMS output is supposed to toggle serveroutput on / off.  And with the action to perform for a procedure or function sends the dbms_output operation - log tab in the same pane on the Message tab.

  • Running a package in SQL Developer

    Hello

    When I introduce a new package in a database and the package is given bz *.pkg file, what is the difference between the opening of the packing of files in SQL Developer (via 'Open '->' file') and then run the package and just copy paste the code Pl/SQL package in an editor.

    I plead the cause I did the following experiment, which I've posted it here:

    Faraz' Oracle DBA Blog: error opening a PL/SQL package as a file in Oracle SQL Developer

    Run the file that has your ddl inside package and execution of the package itself - two different things.

    When you open a file in SQL Developer, according to the file extension, you will get either a SQL worksheet or a PL/SQL Editor.

    I'm assuming that your package file has made two database objects, the package specification and package body. If this is the scenario, you need to open it in a SQL worksheet, set your connection details, and then run with F5.

    If your file contains only a spec or body in pkg, you can and should open in the procedure Editor. There, you will see your highlight syntax errors in the code itself.

    I speak a little of that here, with some screenshots so I hope it's easier to understand.

  • Why SQL Developer randomly at the end sometimes introduced the special strings?

    I noticed that the SQL Developer has some problems with string manipulation in its code.

    SQL Developer 3.2 when generate us scripts of our efforts using SQL Developer data modeling we often have problems with 'archiving' scripts generated in our SVN repository because he complains about the inconsistency with line endings, and some generated lines have apparently invisible special characters (non-ascii) to the end. The solution is to open the scripts using MS WordPad and save the files immediately, as this text editor would be to filter all characters (not ascii) invisible. So, it wasn't a big deal...

    But now as we explore the SQL Developer 4, we have noticed that we have added to the names of columns during dismantling of 'Table or restore line' operations, special characters effectively corrupted tables (table definitions in the dictionary) that we use in the corresponding unit tests.

    The team SQL developers aware of the problem and if so is there any workaround?

    Please advise...

    Thank you

    Val

    Just a quick update:

    Has obtained another definition of 'corruption' in Toad table after running a unit test in SQL Developer (with the process of disassembly of the table or restore the line) and there seems to be a bug in Toad, not in SQL Developer. The special characters shown in Toad have nothing to do with the actual table definition in the dictionary. After you restart the Toad, the table definition looks good again. Probably a matter of caching in Toad...

    Thank you

    I do it to me when I'm trying to compile a stored procedure. I can't fix here the stored procedure for reasons of confidentiality.

    We cannot debug code that we cannot see. Create the simplest possible example code that illustrates the problem.

    If you have code that uses a variable to link and compile in a window of the editor, you will get a popup asking for the bind value as in this code example:

    create or replace procedure test_var as

    number of v_num;

    Start

    Select empno in v_num from emp where deptno =: v_num;

    end;

    And if you change this line of code to use an and commercial you will get a popup asking for a variable substitution:

  • El of magnitude is Sql developer

    I have the Version 4.0.1.14 version

    This tool is excelente pero al trabajar con esta, is magnitude too, disabled equally - editor codigo en los 5 last checks, aun asi to para congelando.

    Special circumstances, the most common advice (even for crashes) is...

    1. install latest production release / patch, currently empty 4.0.2 in a directory.

    2. If it is using Windows 64 - bit zip download JDK 7, download and install the updated jdk1.7.0_xx

    3. If you suspect corruption in the parameters user, timing of the launch of the first time after installation, do NOT migrate user settings.

    If you prefer to stay with 4.01 and your current JDK, try to rename or delete these files, then restart without migration of user settings...

    1 %APPDATA%\SQL Developer\system4.0.1.14.48

    2 %APPDATA%\sqldeveloper

    In fact, adjusted for the specific system folder, this step is the "gold standard" to check the corruption of parameters user isn't the problem.  It also contributes to the maintenance of that developer SQL does not point to some old JDK still installed on the computer.

    If there are special circumstances and the generic tips mentioned above do not help, please always include information about your computing environment and

    Details of the circumstances in which the deadlock occurs. For example, after the very important version of SQL Developer, useful information might include...

    1 operating system and JDK version (32-bit or 64-bit).

    2 physical RAM, the JVM memory settings

    3. oracle database version and if the database is on the same PC, or accessible via a LAN or WAN (high latency)

    4. details of the JDBC driver.  You use the default value or override in preferences with a version of Oracle client?  Type of OIC/thick or thin driver?

    5. double system?

    6 Citrix environment?

    7. third-party extensions installed?

    8. what exactly you were doing when the freeze occurred? Was there a large file or files involved?

    9. number of open connections, the spreadsheets, editors when the freeze occurred?

  • Auto generate Group By in SQL Developer

    In SQL Developer 4.0.1.14, the option to disable "Autogenerate Group By" has DISAPPEARED from the option page 'insight to completion. "  (Preferences, Code Editor, completion Insight).  I am a teacher of a class in which we do different things with group who go beyond what makes automatic generation.  How can I disable this feature?  When I installed on my laptop, I imported the settings of 3.2, and is not automatically generate.  It is not available to students who have just downloaded SQL Dev 4.  And I can't turn it back on to find a way around it.  Is there a solution?

    The autogenerate value bit is actually no more. It is now group, on request.

    It relates to the analysis of information advice semantic - if you put that supply advice to add group over will not appear.

    I'm talking about this new feature a little here.

  • Column with the default (to_date()) - failure on SQL Developer

    Hello

    I will you run the following statement:

    ALTER TABLE PERIOD
    ADD
    (
    PP_START_DATE DATE default to_date ('19000101', 'YYYYMMDD') NOT NULL,
    PP_END_DATE DATE default to_date ('19000101', 'YYYYMMDD') NOT NULL
    );

    This works very well and as planned. Existing entries in the table will win by default - that day.

    Now, when I open SQL Developer and go on the columns tab and then click on the small button edit below that an editor window opens showing me all the columns and their specifications.
    Here, I am able to modify change data. I notice that, in the columns of default_value for my two new columns, the value is ' to_date ('19000101', 'YYYYMMDD').

    Well I wonder about this but can SQL Developer, due to the use of a function, knows not what is calculated it and it can depends on somtething like Sysdate so that the SQL Developer must keep this dynamic statement.
    -> Ok so far.
    But when I (no matter if I change something or not) not to click OK, I get an error as follows:

    =========================================================
    Column validation failure
    ---------------------------------------------------------
    Invalid expression ' to_date ('19000101', 'YYYYMMDD').
    DATE or TIMESTAMP expression expected.
    =========================================================

    The question I have is: why is a failure and can do I do something wrong?
    I can still edit the table using SQL, so this isn't the problem. But I wonder if it's an allusion to a bigger mistake.
    If possible: is there a way to get SQL Developer working with it without losing the default dynamic value?

    Thanks for the replies.

    This seems to be the same "not a bug" that has been reported here a few days ago:

  • Need help on Sql Developer 4.0.0.13.30

    Hello

    I need a few suggestions if the underside of features/settings exist in the version of the sql developer said.

    When I open a new connection, a new code editor opens sometimes, sometimes it does not. It should open each time. Is there any setting for this?

    Can I get a list of all currently open windows in a corner of my window of developer sql (like its pl/sql developer tool, in the lower left corner)?

    I can cascade open windows? I can see vertical / horizontal / Float option window, but none cascading is here.

    Thank you

    If you click on the small blue arrow in the top right corner down - it will be on the same line as the list of tabs of the document - it will show you your list of open editors. Windows > Documents will also show you this.

    Hi all!

    Currently I use the version of SQL Developer Version 3.1.05.

    A question concerning the "auto-format" of syntax each time that writing in the code editor.

    If you take this code snippet and drop into a spreadsheet, then highlight it, right-click of the mouse and select "Format" it's like he fails to add the appropriate spacing when he runs in the DATE data type. I looked all through the: Preferences > database > sql formatter > formatting oracle > change and could not find anything about the formatting with date types.

    I'm looking in the wrong area? Is this a known bug? Am not too looking for this specific question. I LOVE the format function, but I hate having to go through each type of date and manually spacing everything make "clean". I'm picky I guess: P I can live with that but figured that I would ask.
