Reasons of OC: very slow SweepSwitch?

I have a configured system as shown below. GC works well most of the time, i.e. YCs every 20-30 seconds max pause about 13-15 ms, OCs every 45-60 minutes with break about 10 to 30 ms max. KeepArea YC is 25% and GC trigger auto set to 23.4%.

However from time to time I get a long pause in the OC. Diagnosis of break shows that the problem is with the OC: SweepSwitch as indicated in the log below.

According to the docs (Introduction to managing memory - release R28), OC: SweepSwitch is "a short break from the halves. However, I have caught breaks of 5 seconds in the newspapers and other data that suggests that I had made a break as long as 10 seconds. In these cases, I didn't have enough diagnostics to show to some that it was OC: SweepSwitch I increased progressively diagnoses, but everything I have shows that the variation in time of break is always in OC: SweepSwitch and other aspects are still within a reasonable range.

I suspect that there may be also a very slow model OC: SweepSwitch only occurs on the first OC after the passage of genconpar to genconcon highlighted below.

Any thoughts on why OC: SweepSwitch sometimes slower would be highly appreciated.

If the solutions to avoid the resumption of the genconcon after a genconpar of emergency (and therefore the OC: slow SweepSwitch in this next genconcon) are:

1. -The value XXgcTrigger: value to a higher value to avoid ever getting genconpar. The value of this is of course conjecture based on the behavior observed worse cases.
2. Always use a genconpar, i.e. Xgc -: genconpar instead of-Xgc: gencon.

But the question remains, why the OC: slow SweepSwitch? Maybe something to do with the information we need for simultaneous scanning of reconstruction lost during the parallel scan?

Hi, I got home Wednesday night from work and my computer was VERY slow. It also blocks no foreseeable reason since and I also noticed IO errors when you try to back up some audio files on my external.
* Example: * "error 0x8007045D: the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error." (when you try to move a specific .wav file)

In addition, a new symptom that recently and currently makes himself aware for me is: when typing this thread the guest moves randomly at unpredictable times, usually with the result of finishing or from a word in an unwanted random location in the message. Hard to explain, really, but I thought I would include, because it is extremely annoying and seems so virus-ey. Sounds to me like a program, it's stealing priority; my friend think it is Windows Update.

About 8 hours before this activity slow/hanging (before I leave for work), it was working fine, but I noticed
localized only in Google maps as suspended similar activity.

* What I've done so far: *.
-back up important files on my external
-run process Explorer and verified using CPU, RAM and i/o to find nothing extraordinary (low cpu, use of the normal RAM, low use of e/s)
-made a virus using Microsoft Security Essentials scan

I'm at a loss as to what I can do at this point; It is unbearably slow... I can't use internet at least that I'm in the safe
mode, that is, I can't use my video or audio devices... =)
Funny is the 3 year warranty I got away it just expired, so if it's a failing hard drive, Future Shop has done a good job of prediction of the obsolescence... jerks.

Hi mate

It of difficult to say what might cause this exactly.
I searched on similar questions on Microsoft Knowledge base page and found this interesting doc:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/952272
It has exactly the same symptom described: the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error (0x8007045D)

It s required to run the command Chkdsk X: /R
In this command, x is a placeholder that represents the drive letter of the volume you want to check. So if you want to check the partition or HARD drive then replace X by the letter of the partition or HARD drive.

I also recommend to check the HARD drive using 3rd party tool called: Drive Fitness Test.
You can download for free.

Run and check the might of HARD drive, it must be replaced.

Assuming that you are talking about disk space from in the guest OS. You are probably using an MBR partition table, which limits the maximum usable disk space to ~ 2 TB. In order to use the entire disk space, you need a GPT partition table.

• very slow Satellite Pro 6100

Hello

First: sorry for my English, but it's very bad * G *.

Now my problem:
After reinstalling (windows XP), the SP6100 is very slow. The system always have 100% CPU usage regardless of what program I'm starting. It is not the bios (latest version and all the stalls on the CPU power) and not the HARD drive, I have tested yesterday night and completely zero formatted. But the problem is there too, also with linux or Windows 2000.

I don't understand, because before I reinstall the system, NB has been very rapid.

Does anyone now a response, so I put the laptop?

Welcome,
Bastian

Hello Bastian

You reinstall the operating system using the original recovery CD or Microsoft WXP (full version)? As far as I know this camera comes with Windows XP Home edition Professional. Am I right about that?

There are many reasons that can make the much slower system, installation of SP2 or maybe extra software. Check please the process running in the Task Manager. Maybe there are some of them that you don't need, but can be reason for memory and CPU use.

Hello

you said, you´ve reinstalled your windows. For slow typing may be a reason may be a faulty driver or missing for a hardware component, such as for example chipset graphics card.
Can you tell me what drivers and tools that you have installed, and order in which you did.

With regard to the characters: maybe you have a bad keyboard layout. Go to your control panel for "Regional and Language Options", click the "Languages" tab, click on 'Détails' and find out what keyboard configuration you have. Maybe it s a bad.

Can you give us more details?
Sorry mate but this decryption general isn't very useful in determining the cause of the problem.

The laptop can be slow for different reasons.
The system would be overloaded and several background process might slow down the system.
However, a HARD disk failure could affect the execution of processes and data read/write system.
Last but not least virus and malware infections are common cause of problems in the system.

As you can see, there are many reasons why a system is slow.

• Very slow the new Satellite L40

I would be grateful for any help you guys can give me.

I have a Satellite-ish L40 (bought last fall). It's a basic - Intel Celeron death machine / 1.60 GHz / 1015 - RAM under Vista Home Premium. He bought just to make the work of processor + some use very light internet. The problem is that it runs very slowly (including holding still to go when I start by putting).

I tested virus to death. I regularly run detection of spyware / remove programs. I have reduced the number of startup programs immediately. All results say I have a machine of clam. But it is still as slow as hell. And when I say slow, I can do about a cup of coffee in the time it takes to access the net.

I contacted Toshiba support, and the best they could suggest was that I reformat the hard disk, which is dramatic enough. If anyone out there has a better suggestion, I'd love to hear it. Right now, I'm rather regretting my purchase.

Many thanks - Max

To be honest this radical solution is not a bad proposal.

But what do you mean exactly with the slow machine?
How long does take you to a boot?

The fact is that many applications are preinstalled on this laptop and this could be main reasons for a long start. But the fact is that many of these applications are necessary for the performance of all the features of the laptop.
In addition, an antivirus program that is running in the background and could affect the startup time. Long ago, I used the Norton Antivirus and this software was a reason my laptop was very slow... I changed it and now I'm using the freeware like Antivir software. It's much better...

• TCP between PC and very slow LM3S8962

Hello

IM using a TCP connection between my PC and the LM3S8962. Ive been doing some tests and the connection is VERY slow - only transmitting every 200ms or so--even with the simplest examples two examples TCP incorporated and not incorporated. This could be due to the algorithm of Nagel? Ive tried using the TCP-NODELAY package while getting connection errors every time I try to put in place.

Any help would be appreciated,

Brad

I discovered that including a 'warning error' vi and ignorant error 56 solved the problems of speed using normal TCP. STM this inherently includes in their functions and so is the reason why the STM was so much faster.

• LabVIEW Measurement & Automation Explorer very slow

Hi all

Here is my setup of the system and the version of LAbView:

• [LabView professional Development System - Version 11.0 - 32-bit]
• OPERATING SYSTEM - windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit SP1 [MS]
• CPU - [Intel Core i7-2600 processor 3.40 GHz]
• MEMORY - [16.0 GB RAM]
• GPU - [NVIDIA GeForce GT 530]
• OR PXI-7951R & NOR 5761

Everything works absolutely fine until yesterday. All of a sudden, everything about LabView is very slow. Send commands to run the stepper motor and even check on Measurement & Automation Explorer. There have been major changes in the updates or removing software from National Instruments. Everything is intact. My antivirus is AVG (which is a recent change after I removed mcaffee, but I don't think that's maybe the reason).

any kind of advice is appreciated.

Thank you.

Add or change your antivirus/firewall can have a major effect on LabVIEW and related products, because they can potentially block your network connections. MAX scans your network for remote devices.

I also had a problem a while back where my Firewall blocked access to shared variables. The following instructions helped me: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361G-01/lvhowto/createditlogosxt/ (I don't think this affects the MAX, but I mention this in case you encounter a similar problem)

• Very slow start and run for Dell Inspiron 6400 XP times

"I have a problem with an Inspiron 6400 brought to ' horribly slow start and run time. XP Pro 32 bit SP3 patched up to date. Cleaned up a lot of "undesirable", as the partially uninstalled programs, cleaned the files temporary etc. with CCleaner, cleaned and optimized the registry afer all the cleaning has been done, defragmented, tried to start without any of the boot files, disabled all unnecessary services and uninstalled virus checking software, (but ran several anti-virus controls) etc. - no help. Safe Start Mode is faster, but... not at all normal - 1 1/2 minutes of screen to logon instead of close to 3 minutes. A lot of memory (2 GB), which rises to 600 to 700 MB runnng all the stuff I've tried. Hard drive is 1/3 used out of 120 GB with a 2 GB swap file.

One thing I'm still scratching my head over - beyond the horribly slow boot - is very slow access to files even though everything seems to work normally, but as molasses in January. Looking at the performance of the Task Manager tab when I run a copy of a file (whether via a cmd window or with Windows Explorer), I see a near max processor would be and the other with a small business. Even if the customer says he had been getting worse for some time, after checking and cleaning of all things 'normal', my next thought was perhaps a bad disk or disk controller driver, but chkdsk ran very well (although it took hours) even if I ' d I have already updated all drivers (and even the DVD firmware and BIOS) on the Dell web site. Oh, and I ran Dell Diagnostics (from bootable CD) updates all with no errors found. And access to the slow file even with symptoms had max-processor occur with a copy of the file on a USB key that seems to eliminiate the hard disk, the disk controller and the pilot.

The other interesting part of the display for a file copy task manager is that the processes tab simply shows System Idle 97 to 99%, with a percentage of casual for other processes as Explorer while I see 1 max out procesor on the performance tab. That the same copy on your desktop shows 3-4% of the CPU usage and who is with active antivirus software. I'm almost ready to fall toward a Windows reinstall, but would like to find the real reason behind this problem of puzzle...

It of almost as if he's using PIO instead of DMA disk access, but... don't know how/where to test this.

Look at:
and

Solved! Thanks for the links, especially to each other. An old but still a goodie!

For those who have enquring spirits (and anyone else who stumbles across this thread), the primary IDE controller has been set to PIO and locked it. Who would have thought that Windows slowly reduced the transfer speed, whenever he saw 6 errors on an IDE device until it has been reduced to PIO and then he locked it? But the procedures described in the link of winhlp.com showed how to solve the problem.

There are actually several problems that led to the final symptoms. According to KB817472, the Atapi.sys has been improved in XP SP2 only degrade the speed of transfer on 6 consecutive errors instead of 6 cumulative errors. And even though everything I have (Microsoft update) was seen and showed that this area was to SP3, I found that the driver for the controller layer IDE was the SP2 version. Someone ran sfc previously perhaps?

Oh, and I know now that the Task Manager process tab does not time processor kernal, but the performance tab. Good to know...

Thanks again to all who have responded. Starting at the time of connection-question now is 40 seconds. You'll love Untra DMA mode 5. There is still a lingering question in my mind, since I've had the same symptoms of slow copy of a file on a flash drive. Perhaps a link in some way to the way that Windows treats a flashdrive as a "drive"...

• How can I improve the performance of my compaq presario V2000, its very slow

How can I improve the performance of my compaq presario V2000, its very slow!

According to many things (specifications, you have now installed vs the programs he came originally with programs, etc.)-it may or may not work better that ever he does now. However, in terms of nothing other than the software and others on the subject - there are some things you can do to optimize performance.

Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in. Look for whatever it is you do not know using Google (or ask here.) You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory. This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

Do some cleaning and dusting off this hard drive:

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.

If you are comfortable with the stability of your system, you can delete the uninstall of patches which has installed Windows XP...

You can run disk - integrated into Windows XP - cleanup to erase everything except your last restore point and yet more 'free '... files cleaning

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
2. click on the System Restore tab.
3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
-Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
-Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

You can use an application that scans your system for the log files and temporary files and use it to get rid of those who:

CCleaner (free!)
http://www.CCleaner.com/
(just disk cleanup - do not play with the part of the registry for the moment)

Other ways to free up space...

After that - you want to check any physical errors and fix everything for efficient access"

CHKDSK

Defragment
How to defragment your hard drives* will take time

Cleaning the components of update on your WIndows XP computer

While probably not 100% necessary-, it is probably a good idea at this time to ensure that you continue to get the updates you need. This will help you ensure that your system update is ready to do it for you.

Download and run the MSRT tool manually:
http://www.Microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx
(Ignore the details and download the tool to download and save to your desktop, run it.)

Reset.

Download/install the latest program Windows installation (for your operating system):
(Windows XP 32-bit: WindowsXP-KB942288-v3 - x 86 .exe )
(Download and save it to your desktop, run it.)

Reset.

and...

Download the latest version of Windows Update (x 86) agent here:
http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=91237
... and save it to the root of your C:\ drive. After you register on the root of the C:\ drive, follow these steps:

Close all Internet Explorer Windows and other applications.

AutoScan--> RUN and type:
%SystemDrive%\windowsupdateagent30-x86.exe /WUFORCE
--> Click OK.

(If asked, select 'Run'). --> Click on NEXT--> select 'I agree' and click NEXT--> where he completed the installation, click "Finish"...

Reset.

Now reset your Windows with this FixIt components update (you * NOT * use the aggressive version):
How to reset the Windows Update components?

Reset.

Now that your system is generally free of malicious software (assuming you have an AntiVirus application), you've cleaned the "additional applications" that could be running and picking up your precious memory and the processor, you have authorized out of valuable and makes disk space as there are no problems with the drive itself and your Windows Update components are updates and should work fine - it is only only one other thing you pouvez wish to make:

Get and install the hardware device last drivers for your system hardware/system manufacturers support and/or download web site.

If you want, come back and let us know a bit more information on your system - particularly the brand / model of the system, you have - and maybe someone here can guide you to the place s x of law to this end. This isn't 100% necessary - but I'd be willing to bet that you would gain some performance and features in making this part.
