Rebuild the basis of Standby hot backup existing

Hi all

I'm rebuilding the database of existing sleep using the current hot backup because of the huge gap between the primary and Standby, which cannot be restored by backup team

Can someone please explian the steps to perform this activity.

Oracle-9i version

The size of the database - 50 GB

Hot - Latest backup

Kind regards
RAM.

Follow the same process as that used to create the eve of the first.

http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B10501_01/server.920/a96653/create_ps.htm#67525

Skip the steps that should not be remade - for example to create the parameter file for the standby, the configuration of the listener and tnsnames, entries that you already have, etc.

  • Closed APB hot backup

    Hello

Could someone please help me to clarify the following:

    Screen Shot 2014-11-19 at 5.46.41 AM.jpg

The above is the new guide features 12 c University student.

Is not "alter database begin backup" called "backup of user management?

"Hot backup" AFAIK means online of RMAN backup and requires that the database is in log mode archive.

Also the instructer said "If the PDB is closed, you take a hot backup, that APB is not save, because the files are not in line.» "If the file is not open to the database, RMAN cannot hot backup.

I just test rman backup in 12.1.0.1 when the PIC is opened and it included also all the PDB, including those that have been closed and in mounted condition. So what is the correct history?

    Thank you!

Unfortunately, I can ask is no longer the instructor, but I noticed yesterday that I have actually ask your instructor about the same question a year ago. The answer was however really does not correspond to the question. In any case I guess it was just some confusion about the context.

From what I understand, there are two ways to make a hot backup. One is called "user managed backup" by putting the database in backup mode by using the "alter database begin backup" statement and the other is to use RMAN. Two hot backupl methods require that the database is in log mode archive, but RMAN, by default, unlike "user managed backup" includes storage in offline mode.

This means while a database is hot backup mode using "user managed backup", cannot close a PDB file and doing so will trigger an error ORA-01149. RMAN however has no such restrictions and will automatically include the backup of the PDB closed.

I hope that my conclusion is correct and I am considering this thread supposed replied.

  • Hot backup

We take the backup hot at 18:00 (daily, filled in 1-2 hours).
At 23:30 all archive log files will be separately BackupExec backup and the log files are deleted from the file archive of the Oracle.

Day before yesterday, for some reason, the copy of the data file hung up (after alter database begin backup has been published in the Hot backup script)
That the copy has been hung up, 'alter database end backup' has been issued, the PB was in backup mode.
The average while the deleted BackupExec database journal archive file Archive of the Oracle.

Yesterday hot backup was completed successfully, only alter database begin backup failed (ORA-01146: cannot start online backup - folder 1 is already in the backup)
After the hot backup 'alter database end backup' was published successfully.

Given that logs archiving failed whien database is always in backup mode, will all the data generated duing the applied to the data file backup mode?

    Please notify.

    Thanks in advance,

You hear all changes (including the dml, ddl) applied to the database during the backup mode...

    YES.

  • Hot backup maintained by users script? 11g (Unix) good measures?

I'm looking for a script to hot backup maintained by users for GR 11, 2 under Unix. My client does not want to use RMAN.

I think that the main steps are:

    -alter system switch logfile
-change the system log archive current
    -alter database begin backup
-alter database backup controlfile (and also the backup on the track)
-copy the data files, archives, remake, controlfiles to another location
-take the database out of hotbackup mode
-J' have also capture spfile and other config files

Recovery is just restore to the original location, at STARTUP and backup of the end.

Basically, there may be cases where we have archives that have been made after the hotbackup we want to apply. In this case, it is RECOVER database with the HELP of BACKUP CONTROLFILE until CANCEL in order to apply the archives.

    His right?

After you take the database out of Hot Backup, you must switch logfile (preferably several times) and backup generated archivelogs.
You can back up archivelogs while the database is in backup mode but you must also back up the first archivelog (s) after the backup of the end.

  • switch after the hot backup log file

    Hello world
Why should we change log file after the end of the backup command that is to say, after the end of the backup hot?
Why we should take a backup control files to database level, but not through operating system level that is to say, order cp?

Why we should take a backup control files to database level, but not through operating system level that is to say, order cp?

If you're doing a cold backup, this is where you use cp.

But when the database is in place, controlfile is used and it is continuing to change the oracle process. Now the question is how to get the consistent image of the controlfile, here's where you their support at the database level (for example backup controlfile). When you do that level database, a snapshot file is created time and she is saved.

  • Where is the official Oracle documentation that describes the hot backup?

I used the cruelly utility failure to search for Metalink and Google, but the closest thing, I found is a description on "ask Tom".

I'm looking for official Oracle documentation that describes what is happening internally during a hot backup. There are many websites and blogs out there that describe, but I'm looking for a description of Oracle themselves. The only things I found in the Oracle documentation until now is to know how to start and stop the hot backup, but not what is happening internally. GR 11, 2 preference if it made a difference.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello;

Its probably gone RMAN covers this.

    The closest would be:

    Backup and recovery reference 11g Release 2 (11.2) E10643-06

    Or

  • excluding tablespace in the hot backup

    Hi master,

I use oracle 10g on linux. We use the hot backup to date strategy to back up the database.

but I think that I support too much data. I now have tablespeces in my database

    System
    users
    Temp
    Cancel
    index
    perfstat
    blob1
    tool
etc. and default tablespace installed by oracle at installation time.

I can I exclude some of the hot backup table spaces so that it consumes less time to back up the database?

can I exclude spaces of temp, perstat and tool table?

It will cause no impact on the database and?

    Thanks and greetings

DON'T think to drop your UNDO tablespace. You use it to save "in front of your block images.

  • Problems with the new w standby servers / db different characterset?

Currently, the existing system is incorrectly configured with bad characters, we will migrate to the new servers. can put us in place a Data Guard configuration, where the news of the day before is built with the correct character set?

    Published by: PeteORA16xxx on March 29, 2011 08:31

If you want to change the character set, it would be something like this:

    Guess Oracle 11

    Select * from nls_database_parameters;

    Run the utility CSSCAN.

If TI errors because it is not installed, install it using this script: (your path may vary)

    U01/app/Oracle/product/11.2.0/RDBMS/Admin/csminst. SQL

    Run the utility CSSCAN

    and take 1) comprehensive database

It should invite you to new and existing database character set.

    After he finishs

    SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE

    START TO RESTRICT

    Run the csalter.plb script

U01/app/Oracle/product/11.2.0/RDBMS/Admin/csalter. PLB (once again your path may vary)

This will update the contents of the Oracle data dictionary.

    After he finishs

    SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE

    STARTUP

Finally, check the current character set.

    Select * from nls_database_parameters where parameter = "NLS_CHARACTERSET";

If the choice I would rebuild the primary on the new server with the new character set. If you don't have this option and test often. You new servers give you the possibility to duplicate your primary current and test this situation without risk. If you make your backups on your primary now and that trashes the day before you can consider having a RMAN duplicate for standby in hand plan. If you happen to use the same directory on both servers here structure is a simple plan of RMAN duplicate:

    http://www.Visi.com/~mseberg/duprman.html

I would test heavy. I never trust character sets, but to be honest, they got better. In theory, this should work and just move forward, but I've never had to do.

I hope you post your experience.

  • restart of the computer from standby when I press start on the system unit, but not when a scheduled task is started

Windows XP Professional SP3, updates, motherboard Asus P4P800 series (2006). The original system dates back to 2002, but there have been many additions and replacement upgrade. More recently, 2011, two old hard drives have been replaced (XP had destroyed itself requiring a reinstallation), with a much larger and HD, and the cpu has been replaced by a 3 GHz one.

I've configured the BIOS to enable the use of standby mode (standby). I wanted to be able to run scheduled backup jobs early in the morning, a little before I wake up normally. The goal was to conserve energy. Whenever I leave the computer for more than an hour or two, I put it in sleep mode. In recent years, that it worked well.

Scheduled tasks are still, in fact, more surely than ever. But now, when I press the Start button on the system unit, the operating system is restarted rather than restore the State of the system at the time of Eve. This happened almost constantly for maybe a week. I was always a guard never enter sleep mode when I'm aware of any application running who has not completed a requested operation (save a file, defragment a disk, etc.).

I searched on the basis of knowledge, but not found any problems like that. There has been no hardware changes, no new devices; only change of important software (but it is difficult to see how it might be relevant) was the resettlement of Java Runtime Environment 6.x to support the help of OpenOffice. Although I have not checked, I am reasonably sure that all drivers are up-to-date.

No idea why this should suddenly become a problem or how to fix?

    Hello

I suggest you follow these methods and check.

Method 1: View the steps suggested in the following link.

How to solve the problems of hibernation and standby in Windows XP

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/907477

Method 2: Use the Powercfg.exe utility to restore the default power mode

You can use the Powercfg.exe utility to copy the power mode of the user by default to the currently logged user profile. You can do this because eating patterns are only related to individual user accounts. To copy the default user schema using the Powercfg.exe utility, follow these steps:

    1. click on Start, click run, type cmdand then click OK.

    2. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
    powercfg /RestoreDefaultPolicies

Method 3: How to perform the check and clean boot if the problem persists.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

NOTE: Once you check the functionality, follow the suggestions under steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state.

    I hope this helps!

  • Failed to create the system cd disk image backup

Original title: difference between auomatic backups & do your own backups?

    Hi you all,.

I'm a bit confused about backups, I just got my new mohterboard HPp6320y/win7/improved / 2.7Gz cpu, 64-bit, 8 G - ram. HP offers to immediately burn a recovery-re-boot disk, which I did. Then they strongly suggest to copy a restore disc fictitious system using an external hardrive or external storage such as cd - rw disks, I don't understand if I can burn a shadow of system using my existing internal drive or some other form of storage like USB drives provided that they have sufficient capacity.
So far, so good, but when I first tried to burn a shadow/system using my existing built in internal disk drive, the only choice in the context menu after clicking "burn the backup of the system" was my internal hardrvie. He did not get a disk, so I dropped back until I could understand if I was doing something wrong and fix it
I know that my automatic HP backup restore points are made on a regular basis with or without me having to ask, once partition it the space reserved for different backups with full capacity, my system removes the oldest to give room for the new, correct?
I also know that the purpose of having a shadow system is if your hard drive goes wrong, you can restore your entire OS & the personal data to a new disk, so store in a partition of your works currently hardrive would make no sense if it goes wrong, correct?
Then why, my system will not burn a shadow on a freshly unpacked well-known R/W disk? (I have 10 of them I bought still packed)
Do I need to use a drive external remote disc?
Also, I have a factory built-in removable Pocket media player provided out of my older HPa610n and it holds 160Gs, I have the appropriate connection and it appears therefore as a storage device when I turn on my new current HP. However, when I click Backup a shadow system, it shows that my cd player internal existing as an option where I'm supposed to store my shadow of system. Yet they claim that I can use a USB device, provided that it can contain enough storage, I am really confused and feel a migraine coming!

    Help!      Please... sincerely, boulonman

  • Rebuild the eve in 9i

    Oracle 9i

    Sun Solaris

    Hello

I need to rebuild a primary physical standby database. Actually the primary itself was rebuilt using the database pending. But instead of opening to NORESETLOGS, it was opened in RESETLOGS.

Main and relief were so again out of sync.

I am currently copy datafiles from main location to location intelligence.

    The following procedure is correct?

    (1) put all tablespaces in primary school in the BEACKUP START.

    (2) copy all data files to the fallback location. Standby and primary data files are in the locations with the same named. So no need to change the settings of db_file_name_convert etc.

    (3) after the copy is completed, create a controlfile eve of primary and navigate to location intelligence and edit the file init to indicate the new location and a new name of controlfile

    (4) start standby database using this new file init.

    (5) start the recovery. ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY BASE DISCONNECT FROM THE SESSION.

What is the correct procedure? Or I make mistakes about the pending log files and logs online.

This a bug and there is no problem. (restart the standby database and review). I suggest you upgrade your database to 10g (10.2.0.4) or 11g. Please see below the doc.

  • How can I change the base station Airport of NAT mode?

I'm trying to set up an Airport base station and stuck because I have the following message is displayed, but no idea how do what he asks...

Status is showing as Double NAT and then asking me to move on to the base station in bridge DHCP/NAT mode.

But where do I do this?

    Thank you

It can be difficult to get the router to bridge sometimes... but if all goes well... Click on the airport icon in airport utility and then click on edit.

Go to the network tab and change DHCP and NAT to bridge.

Click Update at the bottom of the page... Then, everything should be good.

If you are having problems follow these steps.

Reset factory airport and then do a manual installation. I recommend that you connect with ethernet which is much more reliable, but your MBPr is not the most important network port that exists... Although there is a bolt of lightning at low cost for the ethernet card.
