Rebuild the eve in 9i

Oracle 9i

Sun Solaris

Hello

I need to rebuild a primary physical standby database. Actually the primary itself was rebuilt using the database pending. But instead of opening to NORESETLOGS, it was opened in RESETLOGS.

Main and relief were so again out of sync.

I am currently copy datafiles from main location to location intelligence.

The following procedure is correct?

(1) put all tablespaces in primary school in the BEACKUP START.

(2) copy all data files to the fallback location. Standby and primary data files are in the locations with the same named. So no need to change the settings of db_file_name_convert etc.

(3) after the copy is completed, create a controlfile eve of primary and navigate to location intelligence and edit the file init to indicate the new location and a new name of controlfile

(4) start standby database using this new file init.

(5) start the recovery. ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY BASE DISCONNECT FROM THE SESSION.

What is the correct procedure? Or I make mistakes about the pending log files and logs online.

This a bug and there is no problem. (restart the standby database and review). I suggest you upgrade your database to 10g (10.2.0.4) or 11g. Please see below the doc.

  • Failover and rebuild the eve

    Hello

To verify if the standby PB works perfectly in case of failure, we go to our database before failover. Swicthover_status replied with swicthover not allowed in elementary school, I decided the procedure below:

    1. judgment of the primary DB.

    2. turn the main eve

3 perform dml on new primary, when the work is done, the new principal will not be necessary.

Now my task is, if I'm doing a cold backup of db pending before making primary, can I replace the backup to cold after the task so that it behaves like db Eve as it was before? In this case, I don't need to recreate the standby db.

    Kind regards

    Hello;

Probably not. You have several questions. This method is likely to worse instead of better. If you want to test failover to bring flashback working on the primaries and the sides of the day before.

After a failover, you want to retrieve primary school, the old primary as new secondary. Once it is functional, you get two SYNCHRONIZED servers and perform a failover and primary school and the day before are back the way they should be.

    I test short notes here:

    http://www.Visi.com/~mseberg/data_guard/Data_Guard_Failover_Test_using_SQL.PDF

    Update

What you might consider is the method of cold backup is a false test. This isn't how he'll get into the real world. In my view, that the test should align as closely to what could happen in production as possible.

Failover is also something you should give a lot of thought to. I have databases where if the power failure is about 5 minutes or less the failover is more trouble and more risk than its worth. I have other where they need to be in place 24/7. Ask yourself if you can make a move to the square. What are your other options? Its great to have a failover plan and be prepared, but less use you it the better I say.

    Best regards

  • parameters of the system does not move on the eve of the database

    Platform: IBM AIX 7.1
    Oracle: 11.2.0.3
    Product: DG w/FSFO (dgbroker)
    ========================

Question is why some initialization parameters go to the backup database and others not?
How can I determine which is transferred and which do not?

Example: change the system '_optim_peek_user_binds' setting is false scope = both;. < == dynamic parameter

and: change processes control system = 1000 scope = spfile; < == require restart

On the same topic, when I rebuild my standby database using the current database.

The RMAN command reference: duplicate target database for the eve of the active database

Also, it does not transfer parameters initialization as "sessions", "processes" and in our case, a hidden parameter ("_optim_peek_user_binds" = false).

How can I determine what will transfer and what will not transfer?
This little us twice in the last week when we switched to standby and then "turned" on our rebuilt on primary eve.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have.

Yes, instance settings are instance/session (dynamic) specific.
Suppose that little of the example, of course, there isn't a good example also. Still to convince ;-)

If you have 2 tie, with shared SPFILE unique, if you tell the parameter SGA_TARGET if you have to load in a server support more or less in another node in database, if you decode to increase only on node 1, you can then change in node 1 without changing the setting globally as

    SQL > alter system set SGA_TARGET = 12000 m scope = the two sid = "prod1".
    SQL > alter system set SGA_TARGET = 8000 m scope = "prod2".

So you can have multiple values for two instances... Here is therefore the parameters are specific instance. Do you agree?

Refer also to extract all the parameters http://hemantoracledba.blogspot.in/2011/05/getting-all-instance-parameters.html?m=1

  • Cannot rebuild the desktop

Hello. I have a MacBook MB062LL/A (2,1-1181) running OS x 10.6.8 .tI was a little wide, slow running and other things. I just bought it used off eBay. The HD has been wiped clean with a new installation of the operating system (when I started I was greeted with the screen "familiar" multilingual) so he must be a Virgin installation (although Safari has quite a few cookies), but he continues to slow down really bad. I have reset the PRAM (Command-Option-P-R during startup) and I tried to rebuild the desktop (command-Optiom at the start), but it asks me if I want to rebuild the desktop. Can someone advise me? • Satellite l.660-12 q - would the recovery disk rebuild the new HARD disk with a new recovery partition

Talk about confusion. Does anyone know how to get a Toshiba C660 work after the HARD drive failed and the owner has stupidly NOT followed the instructions to make a recovery disk. Will be the recovery disk (if buy you one from Toshiba) rebuild the new HARD disk with a new recovery partition and install windows 7 (original OS) and accept the product key printed on the Windows license, attached to the base of the laptop. I have read a number of suggestions, but these have been considered incorrect by others.

Surely, Toshiba must have a way to sort this problem.

    They read these messages?

    Hey Buddy

I don't think it's really complicated, that I could find all the information about the recovery procedure in the user's manual

The recovery disk must be created on the first day of purchase its recommended to create one in case something would be wrong with the HARD drive.

The recovery disk contains an image. The image is a package containing Win system, drivers, tools and all the stuff pre-installed on the notebook.
You bought the laptop and the system has already been activated so that you have need of t the key placed at the bottom of the unit.
In addition, the use of the recovery disc formats the drive HARD integer (partitions too) and set the laptop in the same condition as at the first day of the purchase.

There is also another option to recover the notebook called HARD drive recovery. This HARD drive recovery requires no recovery disk. The recovery disc HARD would be to use format ONLY partition C (System).

  • (Repair) virus killed file system; What is the best way to rebuild the system?

System of Vista Business 32 bit SP2 from my child was hit in the wrong by a virus; When you run the repair virsu he deleted system files infected and he now gets repeat BSOD.

No, the Startup Repair is not going to fix the system, and the virus seems to have killed all the restore points. also can not get SFC / SCANNOW to run correctly.

So: I went to (a huge field of) struggling to set up a Slipstream installation DVD of Vista SP2 (since the original installation disc supplied with the system was only vanilla Vista).  I thought that I could load that and select the 'Upgrade' option and simply rebuild the Windows system, keeping all my programs and data.

But no, after loading, the system informed me that "upgrade has been disabled", as well as the comment for clarification: "-to update, launch the windows installation"-that sure I can "t do since I can't display the corrupt system virus even in safe mode.

    SO - I have a few questions:

    (1) FIRST: was first my hypothesis?  In other words, if I COULD bring up Windows on the machine damaged (even if only in safe mode), would be the upgrade, go ahead and work - whereas the old system corrupted virus was also VISTA SP2?  Or - the installation would inform me that he could NOT make an upgrade because it would detect that the previous version was indeed also VISTA SP2 and therefore "knowledge" that he could not (really) do an upgrade?

    (2) assuming that the answer to #1 is 'yes', then: is there a version of Vista Installable (same one I might need to buy) that could make the upgrade, even if the Windows system being upgraded can not come?  IF this is NOT the case: what is an installable version upgrade of Windows 7?  or it is the sad reality that no matter what version of Windows I buy, I can't choose the 'Upgrade' option unless the installation is load/run Windows on the upgraded system?

From previous posts, I have all kinds of good advice on how to retrieve data on corrupted system files, so if there is no other alternative, I'll do it - but this is my last resort because:

b its a lot of your time working are going to extract all the files and

    (b) his work even more of your time then having to charge all third party software (including some I have no disks to install for more) if I find myself

having to do a clean install of Windows.

So, if there is no alternative to an upgrade - if I have to shell out some $$ for a new version of Windows, I prefer to do that.

    Appreciate all advice-

    Hello RDougShelton,

Take a look at the following article:

    Cleaning a compromised system
    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc700813.aspx

If there is a virus on that system, in other words, there is no way to be always sure that she has been completely removed outside of the shaping machine and put it back.

There is no guarantee that an inplace upgrade will fix this problem.

I recommend to backup your data you mentioned in your original post.

    Best regards
