Receive user winmail.dat Outlook 2013 files

I get a user Outlook 2013 running Windows 7 Professional winmail.dat files, so I can't display attachments he sends me, especially on the iPhone, but on Mac too. And I don't want to have to download special software to open them.

What should I tell him? Because its COMPUTER support is just blame us, saying that it is a problem at the end of the recipient. And all the support articles that I find are pre-2013.

You can take a look at of TNEF enough-> http://www.joshjacob.com/mac-development/tnef.php

  • Gmail has adequate fixation, Mac Mail has winmail.dat

Hello. One of my colleagues of the company tried to send an attachment to my email of company but in Mac Mail (Yosemite), comes as winmail.dat attachment. I send to my Gmail address instead, and it is also for Mac Mail as winmail.dat. Then, I loaded my Gmail in Chrome (to try to eliminate Mac Mail of the equation) and see the three PDFs at the bottom of the message as it should. I downloaded them (Macbook Air) of chromium as a zip (download file type by default, I guess, when there are multiple files). I opened the zip file and files three PDF are here.

I'm sure that the sender attached not a zip - archive she joined three PDF files by e-mail. Mac Mail is somehow convert these three PDF files in a winmail.dat which I do not know how to unzip or treat. I have yet to see it from other shippers, but that the problem occurred in Mac Mail if she sent to my address, or my Gmail address AND since Gmail itself in Chrome was fine, the problem seems to be local to my BONES.

    Any advice? Thank you.

Two options to open winmail.dat files:

"Klammer" allows you to open the MSG & Winmail.dat on Mac files. $5.99 at the App Store.

TNEF's enough, a decoder of winmail.dat. of Josh Jacob also available on the App Store.

have you contacted the seller to inform them that their email is unreadable due to configuration errors to their end. If you have questions and they send offers like that, they'd probably appreciate reactions.

  • Why not send txt to help Outlook attached pdf files that arrive as winmail.dat

I send PDFs as email attachments Outlook to a list that includes my wife and myself. We use gmail and both use you bird as our customer on our home computer. His end like winmail.dat, while mine are fine. And hers is very good, although it is still in gmail. I tried to send these files by using the plain txt format in Outlook, but it does not help. What to do next?

I assume you mean Outlook, the program which is part of the office, rather than Outlook on the web, the new iteration of Hotmail and Live Mail.

There is an ancient framework in the address book since the first days of Outlook that allows you to specify a format for sending on a per recipient basis. It's hard to find now, but if you place the cursor to the recipient in the message header area and then open the Outlook properties, you can check that the recipient is not individually designated for Outlook Rich Text Format. I have attached a screenshot for reference to screen.

If this is not it, you could try Microsoft support forums, as it might be too obscure for this one.

  • I received a file winmail DAT - how to open it?

I received a file winmail DAT - how to open it.

I do not know.  I do not have a file association for. DAT files (Start / Control Panel / Default programs / associate a file or Protocol with a program / analysis then list for.) (DAT).  I guess you have not either.  Your best bet is to communicate with the person who sent you the file and find out which program was used to create it-then maybe you can get the program or to find a drive for this program.  Good places to watch once you know the program are www.tucows.com and www.download.com.  Here for example is an option for some .dat to open the files that may or may not work with your (given the MANY programs produce and, even once, you need to know what program the file): http://www.winmaildat.com/ (since you say it's a winmail.dat file I hope that this link could actually work).  If it's not, and if you find the name of the program that generated the file, we can help you find something to use to play with - but we need this name (and version number).

    Good luck and I hope this has helped. Lorien - a - MCSE/MCSA/network + / A +.

  • Attached to incoming mail in as files winmail.dat since update iOS 10

This cannot be opened since update to iOS 10.0.1 and joined a mail of PC's entry in iPhone & Ipad as winmail.dat files. Able to access via gmail online but not by e-mail, phone etc yet another botched updated to apple I think. What happened to if it isn't broken, don't fix it!

    Hi Peterboynz,

I see that your iPhone / iPad receive are formatted as files "winmail.dat" which you are unable to open attachments. I'll be happy to help you.

If your Mac email contains a winmail.dat attachment - while this article is for the emails from Mac, the question is the same. Once the sender updates their e-mail applications, messaging on a device iOS and Mac applications should be able to open the attachments.

In the meantime, he also winmail.dat readers available for both devices.

Apple says sender PC what to change.  Why Apple cannot make changes?

Because the problem of side PC Mail configuration and is a matter of administration Windows mail server, not a problem in Mail OS X I have received emails with Apple Mail to those who use Outlook without any trace of winmail.dat attachment problems.

You can get the TNEF free enough ask OS X App store that allows you to view these attachments until the administrator of Windows Mail comes out of his coma.

  • OUTLOOK 2013 WILL NOT RECEIVE MAIL WHEN OPEN

I'm under WIN8.1, IE11 and OUTLOOK 2013. Outlook began to behave strangely. It will only receive when it is opened no new messages. Suggestions? No problem with the mail server because it sends to my tablet as it should. Microsoft support is disappointing. It me sent to third-party programs which may fix it.

What type of e-mail (Exchange, POP3, IMAP) Server? If the Exchange, in what year (2007, 2010, 2013)? If Exchange, your local or remote on the server? Is your statement saying Outlook retrieves only by e-mail at startup but not later (POP3/IMAP via Exchange via synchronization of the PRC, send/receive)? This will help identify your problem. Is your Outlook completely up-to-date (SP1, all window updates)?

  • All of a sudden received part of the customer as winmail.dat

Suddenly, over the last week, I can't open attachments to my client. It is a big problem for me.

Send invitations now arrive as winmail.dat attachments so I have to write and ask the customer to send me the information manually (not good).

Today she sent a blast e-mail formatted with graphics for the replay. I can't open it.

I downloaded of TNEF enough on the App Store. It's that open its cover note, I can already read email. He does not even recognize that there is an attachment in email.

I downloaded Winmail Reader Pro from the App Store. Again, he opens his cover note, that I can already read email. It also recognizes a second document, but when I open it, it is simply a code page (which is the breath of email I'm supposed to do to reread).

I have several projects per month with this customer and be invited to many meetings. As a freelancer, I'm proud of myself by taking things OUT of my client, not adding task list does not. I talked to technical support to his company and they say it's due to the incompatibility with the e-mail and calendar PC and Mac programs. On the Internet, I see that it is caused by a lack of willingness to Apple to integrate a simple fix in the Mail for Mac program. I really don't like making it, I just need to find a solution.

Has anyone found a reliable application that opens the Winmail.dat file?

Who is your email provider? Have you tried to check the email directly on the web portal? (for example going to mail.yahoo.com if Yahoo! e-mail)

  • Outlook pst files lost after the creation of new users on PC

After re-setup of Small Business Server 2003 with a different domain name, I had to then modify the user account from PC on their individual computers. After selecting the new domain and restart the PC, windows XP has treated change as if I created a new user. Windows created new parameters for the user and all Outlook files have disappeared. Windows archive/back them somewhere? Why Windows did create new parameters for the same user?

    Thanks for your help!

Your question of Windows is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the public on the TechNet site. Please post your question in the Sub forum.
