Receiving duplicate E-Mails

I continue to receive the same batch of emails - from different senders - and spent a good part of the morning removing them. My client is Outlook Express and I am running windows XP Home Edition. How to stop receiving these duplicates?

First, make sure that the account is not listed twice in tools | Accounts. If it's OK, follow these steps.

Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced. Uncheck: Leave a copy of messages on the server. Then, remove the Pop3uidl.dbx file. You will get the messages once more, but it should be.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the Pop3uidl.dbx file and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

    Outlook express duplicate messages

We recently had Comcast to att uverse & changed our settings in outlook express but now receive duplicate e-mail messages.  I have leave copy on the server checked so that we can access our messages from multiple computers, do not know if there is anything else that needs to be changed to avoid this problem.

Pretty much confirms that it is outside interference. You have McAfee on both machines? Close all programs and temporarily disable McAfee on both machines. Send a short test message now.

Norton and McAfee are two of the worst programs to use with Windows e-mail clients. They cause conflicts and must be removed in favour of a less intrusive program like NOD32, (not free), Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials, (both free). I use MSE on all my machines and it works fine.

Try to activate the market account: settings > Mail, Contacts, calendars, and then tap the account on the right-hand side of the screen, on the Mail to 'off' popup slide, exit settings and return to the Mail application, then return to the settings and drag the mail back to 'on '.

If this is not set then try to close the Mail application via the bar of multitasking to the iPad: double-click the home button to open the taskbar and then slide or drag the application Mail 'screen' upward and on the top of the screen to close and click the home button to close the taskbar.

Also to do a soft reset: press and hold buttons sleep and home for 10-15 seconds (ignore the red cursor), after which should appear the Apple logo - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent iPad for a reboot.

They said it was of I.P. address '69.49.30.200', I.P. address is "192.168.5.64" I think. I got one of these emails on 2 or 3 weeks and just ignored, but man o man did they never screw up my computer. I didn't that I would never come back it works correctly. What can I do to get rid of these people?

  • I received an e-mail from 'e' of what appears to be a microsoft Web site, ask for password of account etc, false or true

I received an e-mail from 'e' of what appears to be a microsoft Web site, they tell me my site will be closed down if I don't provide them with certain information, including the password etc, grammar seems somewhat imperfect, something on the network running slow and they (you) will have to clean (check) accounts This note was sent, I ignored the original e-mail from 'e' weeks but just received a notice/final warning that if I don't answer to my account will be closed to the down and out, it's from Microsoft.
