recent problems with windows 7

I started having some pretty frustrating problems with my windows 7 ultimate x 64 recently after a series of updates. It happens sporadically and it completely locks my use of the CPU at 99% at times. I have an AMD Phenom II x 4 945 processor, HD 1 TB, 6 GB of ram and an ATI Radeon HD 57XX graphics card. I made no changes to my computer, windows, Microsoft, adobe, or java updates which will be automatically can't recent other download. I have not changed my system, removed or added any hardware. I assure you all my bios / drivers are up to date and working correctly. as I said at the beginning, it started to happen after a series of updates from towards the end of the month of October and November. I can have 0 running programs, not even Internet explore, sitting inactive when a secondary explorer.exe will appear not assigned to any user on the computer and will go only in to higher and higher in both cpu and use of K I saw it climb to more than 4 000 000 K and the CPU usage goes to 99%. I use Microsoft Security Essentials as my anti virus program. I use internet explore. I do not use accelerators, screensavers of password, economizers site or something similar on my internet explore. I get on my comp. check my facebook, e-mail, pay bills, and then maybe play an MMO a bit (which is this computer a few years with no problems).

I'll include some screenshots that show the second explorer.exe on my taskmaster and how he climbs. This has happened in all of about 45 seconds. I don't know what is happening. but I would like to perhaps someone could advise me on what to do? as said no changes have been made to my system, and it worked fine for 2-3 years I got, until very recently. My action Center shows also nothing to treat, so no problems with what it is hanging up. I don't get blue screens or outages of full screen (black screen) it just started and now I don't know what to do.

For your screenshots be used, you must "show processes from all users", click on the header of the CPU to group all the processes using the most resources and expand the first column to show everyone the name of the process...

In the meantime, run Malwarebytes and ADWCleaner...

Run Disk Cleanup to rid the system of temporary Internet files. These can seriously slow down a Malwarebytes scan.

Then run Malwarebytes. http://www.Malwarebytes.org/

When

installation, make sure that you do not check the box to install the trial PRO version...

Follow-up to the ADW cleaner...

  • Problem with Windows Update!

    Hello!

I have been using a computer HP (h8-1320eo) for about 11 months now, and I have a problem now.

When Windows Update wants to install some updates, I let do and she successfully the download, but when he wants to set up updates, it freezes at 12%. First time I have let it run about 45-60 min, then forced to close. This happens every time, I shut down my computer.

Initially, I contacted the Support of Mircosoft, nothing helps, I did some research and I found this discussion on a website (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/517267/sfc-will-not-complete-and-windows-update-gives-a-800...) And that sounds just like what's happening to me! And as I read down, I wasn't the only one, there are others, but they all HP computers.

And that is why I contacted HP now, and sometimes the computer had some problems to open some files / or orders, for example "stop Installation" when I tried to stop Windows Update...

    Christian,

I think that using a Restore Point to try and 'go back' is not enough to clear this error.

It seems that there may be a recent problem with an update of Windows: KB2887069

Reference Microsoft Forum: kb2887069 crashes at 12%

    You can try the following:

    • The system startup and logon
    • The Windows Updates Notify value (instead of automatic update)
    • Restart and sign (just because cela 'glue change', defines the kernel and make the computer happy)
    • Open windows updates
    • Look for the updates - which creates a list of the updates
    • Highest point and click right update KB2887069
    • Select this option to HIDE the update
    • Try to install the updates

The same patch / update watch upwards in the list of Windows 8 update - it does not seem to cause problems.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reloading the image: use your most recent picture disc and recharge the system at this point.  Depending on when you created the Image, it's more or less painful. It will certainly take your system at this point in time, when everything worked.

If you have never created a System Image, you can learn about it here:

HP PC - creating and using a System Image to restore your computer (Windows 7) - c02053303

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If none of these suggestions work, then the underlying cause of your problem may be another that which has been previously documented.

    One thing you can try:

Use the approach suggested above and hide the updates from one or more at a time, try to run the updates between selections.

It is a painful process; It can help discover the question if KB2887069 does not cause any problems.

  • Big problem with Windows XP, IE8

I have a big problem with windows xp. Many things do not work as they had passed him. For example the personal setting are not recalled from session to session. IE 8 does not funtion properly (icons on the desktop are re-arraged, toolbars cannot be deleted or I'm unable to load pages from the internet). Programs do not work, the files will not open. When I look at my hard C disk folders and files are hidden.

Recently, IE has been upgraded to IE8 and I installed Norton 360 but I don't mean that they caused the problem. However, whenever the Norton scan executes a "error 8 506 421" stands up and says me that I have to uninstall and re install Norton.» But I lost the ADMIN privileges so I am not able to uninstall or go back to a restore point.

I can't go in safe mode. Pressing F8 takes me to the quick screen C not the windows safe mode screen. I can't go in safe BOOT mode. INI or the other.

If I switch to another user, everything seems fine but I don't have ADMIN privileges with this user to be able to make changes.

Is this a problem with norton? IE8? A virus?

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Lost without a computer

It sounds like you have a corrupted for your user to administrator user profile.

You may be able to recover using System Restore to restore to a point in time before your problem.  Based on the F8 key, you bring in a command prompt window, try to start restoring the system to the command prompt by using the following procedure:

"How to start the System Restore tool by using the option of safe mode with prompt theCommand in Windows XP"

If this does not work, you can still be able to recover by performing a check disk to your command prompt window operation (after that you press the F8 key).  Enter the following command:

    CHKDSK c: /R

If you are in the Recovery Console, it can simply begin, or you may need to restart before it will start.  Corrupt profiles are most often caused by the Corruption of system files, so a chkdsk operation should be performed little matter how you end up recovery.  Note that this can take a few hours to run.

  • Connection problem with Windows Live

Recently, a change has been introduced whereby it asked me to confirm my mobile number so that MS can send me a verification code that fits into a security process probably intended to check my Windows Live Sign On, however, it happens that it is not possible to select a mobile phone in my country (Malta, European Union).

I would also like to point out that even though I select Remember me, remember my password within logon, Windows Live Messenger still brings me my username and password for my Windows Live ID account (* address email is removed from the privacy *); This is why does not remember my login credentials.  This happens on my laptop running Win XP SP3.

I also noticed that I am getting a problem of logon failure, when I try to login to my HP iPAQ which runs on Windows Mobile 2003.

  • A problem with Windows?

I've upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate for free with the purchase of my laptop a few years ago. Recently, in about the last 4 months, my computer was turn off by itself without reason. He did this twice a week at least and is very irritating. It doesn't matter if it has been idle or if I use it. It just stops. It does not restart. When I reboot, I have to click on "start windows normally". So I thought maybe it was first a virus problem or spyware. However, I ran Norton and even contacted the support of Norton, who concluded that there is a problem with Windows.

I don't know what to do or how to solve it. There is nothing else wrong with the computer and I can't afford to go out and get another laptop. But I work from home doing the transcript and cannot afford to keep loss of work when I'm in the middle of a file only to have my computer just close.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Help? Please, I beg you! Thank you!

This could be due to overheating.  To check, download SpeedFan http://www.download.com .  If the temperatures are below 50 degrees C, you're OK, if older than 65, that's your problem, between watching the bears.

  • Problem with Windows Installer (I think)

Hey I just got a new 'game' PC with all the good things like i7 processor nvidia GTS 250 graphics card. So I guessed I would setup games. Games were installed very well the problems started when I tried to run SteamInstall.msi he looks ready to install for 1 second and then close and nothing happen. Even try to do once again nothing. So I gave up with it.

Then I installed cod4, codwaw and download for both patches. When I try to install the patches it starts normal and after extractinng saying "" ".msi or msu or something it get stuck on the preparation for installation on both cod4, codwaw games and I think about others too... '".

So I guess that's my Windows Installer problem... ? Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 (problems on SP1 also)

    Yoris,
I think that if you had a problem with Windows Installer, then you would have also had a problem installing the games themselves.  If after installing just the game, you are able to start the game, then you will need to determine if you really need the patches you install.  If they fix game issues and do not add any content, then you may not even need of patches.  If it turns out that you do not have the patches and they are self extracting\installing files and then save them to your desktop and then right click and select run as administrator and see if that helps.  You can also check with Activision support , because this can be a problem they know. A problem with Windows Vista
Windows Vista has stopped working properly.

This problem has been corrected in Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1).

    What is a service pack?

An update to software that combines new security and performance with existing updates improvements. Service packs can contain new features or changes to the design of a product.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
Determine if your type of operating system 32-bit or 64-bit.

How will I know if my system type is 32-bit or 64-bit?

Click the Start button, right-click computer, and then click Properties.

Under system, you can view the system type.

The average of 32-bit and 64-bit?

Both 32-bit and 64-bit refer manner that your computer (CPU) CPU processes information. The 32-bit versions and 64-bit Windows are designed for use in computers with 32-bit processors or 64-bit, respectively.

In addition, unrelated question. Does anyone know why my computer would always have an icon in the lower right shows a storage device mass that I did not and when nothing is plugged into ONE of my USB remove locations?

    Ralleny,
Regarding mass storage disks that appear, you have housing of memory card reader on your PC?  Usually they will appear like this.  I have a HP at home that has a Bay of 5 card reader to the front and I see the same type of items that you see. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

  • Problems with Windows Update after uninstalling SP2 (Vista Home Premium)

    Hello, everyone!

Two days ago, I tried to install SP2 through my Windows Update. During the installation and then restart, it stopped on step 3 (0%), ignored and open Windows normally. But, I realized that I had totally lost Aero (I didn't even have the option in the window color and appearance), and also Windows Update constantly gave me the message that I always important updates - SP2 has not installed correctly (I rebooted the computer several times to try to resolve this problem, but everything remained the same: stop on step 3) ", running Windows, and once again the message that I've updated important). I searched in various forums, but could not solve the problem, so I decided to uninstall SP2 via Control Panel. But it doesn't let me do that - whenever I clicked on the button uninstall, it says that the installation is not finished yet. So, I tried the system restore, but whenever I clicked it, an error message (that I didn't understand at all) appeared. So, I went into safe mode and tried the system restore and it worked (Control Panel uninstall option does not in Mode safe either), and everything is back to SP1. But now I have problems with Windows Update - I get the error message 0 x 8007002 (and even 0 x 8007005 several times). I tried everything I could find in the forums (the thing with automated updates service does not because I don't have this option in Services), but nothing works. If anyone has any advice whatsoever, I would be really grateful for that, because I don't know what to do.

For safety, I use NOD32 anti virus, Tall Emu Online Armor and ThreatFire.

    Thank you very much!

    Hi EvanaZgb,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers forum.

I would say to first disable the anti virus and other security software. Then proceed as follows:

    STEP 1
    ------------
Download and install the latest version of Windows Installer
To install the latest Windows Installer, visit the Microsoft Web site at the following address:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5A58B56F-60B6-4412-95B9-54D056D6F9F4&displaylang=en

Step 2 now try to update again and post back with the results
    ------------
Cleanup, utility to download and install the Microsoft Windows CleanUp utility. To do this, see the Microsoft Web site: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe

Now try to update again and post back with results

    Thank you

  • The problem with Windows update - automatic updates service won't start not (error 126)

original title: the problem with Windows update

Please help me to get Windows Update operational return.

XP Media Center Edition, Version 2002, SP3

Had a problem with "Generic host process for Win32 has encountered a problem and needs to close."  Follow-up of the instructions on this link:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/931852

Seems to have cleared the error message.  So far so good.

However, now a Windows Update does not work.  Security Center Windows were told to go to control panel > system and use the Automatic Updates tab.  But, if I go to control panel > system, the Automatic Updates tab does not appear.

I also went to the control panel > Services.  Tried to start the automatic updates service.  Received this error message: could not start the service automatic updates on Local computer.  Error 126: The specified module could not be found

I already followed several instructions on this subject:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_xp-windows_update/cannot-access-Windows-automatic-update-after/aeaec175-01f4-47ed-8F97-55b854af4220

In the thread above, I was following the post on 30 August.  According to Option A, I completed step 5 for the uninstallation of McAfee Security.  At this time, my network card has stopped working.  On the recommendation of the officer, I posted to the Malwarebytes forum.  The officer determined Malwarebytes that I don't have a malicious software.  I ended up posting on forum McAfee to get my network card works again.  Then I reinstalled McAfee and start to run Windows Update.

I started with Option A, step 8 to reset Internet Explorer using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737.  The difficulty it has worked very well.

Then Option A, step 9 says reset Windows Update using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058.  When I ran the difficulty in default or aggressive mode, I got an error message saying: he cannot start wuauserv.  The message asks me to verify that the user has privileges to take this step.  Well, I checked through user accounts who am the only one user set up on this PC and I have administrator privileges.  Help me please run this difficulty or recommend another way to get Windows Update works again.

[1]... looks like you are saying that my system is so wet that a clean install is the (only?) way to go.

[2] if I do a clean install, not only what I need to reinstall Windows and all my applications, I also have to reinstall the drivers... Etc. ?

[3] I think I have the disks supplied with the PC system. Is it better to use than to use the recovery partitiion?

[4A]... is there a possibility that some of [my data are] infected?

[4] preventing me from simply infect the whole PC again?

A1. Yes, and it was my recommendation in August, too.

    A2. Yes.

A3. Only not really well using the restore Partition hidden to make the "destructive recovery" will include all drivers, etc., that have been installed at the factory.

    A4a. Yes, a real possibility.

A4b. You run at least three 3 tests on the backup data before restoring one (1) with your installed & updated up-to-date anti-virus application (for example, Microsoft Security Essentials) and two 2 with good reputation, free online scans (e.g., ESET;) Bit Defender; Kaspersky; HouseCall; (F - Secure).

If you have saved your data on CD/DVD, the disc scanner. If you have backed up your data to a flash drive, SD card, or another external drive AND KB971029 is installed, analyze the drive.

If you have any questions or need additional help, please start a new thread in this forum: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-system
