recimg on Windows RT

I'm trying to follow this support page to check if my Surface RT has a recovery partition:

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-my/Windows-8/create-USB-recovery-drive

But I get this message in the command prompt window after typing recimg /showcurrent :

'recimg' is not recognized as internal or external, command an executable program or batch file

How can I solve this problem? I can't create a disc of recovery for backup at this rate. Thank you.

I have the same problem and followed the instructions but keep getting the error 'recimg' is not recognized as an internal or external command.  Help, please.  This prevents me from upgrading.

Hi Julie,.

I managed to create a directory and improved to 8.1 via this website, which was VERY simple:

http://www.andyrathbone.com/2012/11/12/making-a-recovery-drive-for-the-Microsoft-surface-RT/

Worked beautifully, created an image for a friend in a USB key before the upgrade. Its been error while upgrading to halfway and had to restore the image via the USB, that worked!

Kind regards

yksun

  • Cmd.exe does not recognize the recimg as a command in Windows 8.

Hello. I have a laptop HP I want to refresh. It is pre-installed with Windows 8 and did not come with a bootable recovery media, rather a recovery partition. Somehow, I was naïve enough to delete this partition without apparent reason (Yes, stupid, I know). Now I want to refresh the PC and since it asks me to insert the media start to continue, I can't provide. Given that recimg is my only refuge to create a new recovery partition, I can't because I get an error in the command line whenever I use the recimg command. I really need help with this issue because I have to do an update soon, and please note I tried to search on this problem, and those who have the same problem as mine is Surface and RT users (no idea what those who are well,) and I always turn to nothing, that I am a user of Windows 8. Thank you very much.

Hello. The problem has been resolved after a reboot, I don't know what was the matter, however. And I run as administrator, but it did not work. Anyway, everything fine now, thank you.

  • Reclim Manager and Windows 8

Reclim Manager of Slimware is designed to save an image of the software which can then be reinstalled directly when you are restoring Windows 8, so overcome this defect in the Windows program. It works on Windows 7 and others have reported that it works with Windows 8/8.1 (although that an official statement for these versions is not yet available), but it does not work with my version of Windows 8, I want to upgrade to 8.1 Windows without having to restore all my software individually. Mountvol shows three files without drive letters that include the ASSEMBLY POINTS without comments. Slimware forum suggests that maybe it's what prevents the programme of work because the problem is written to the file on the disk. If this is the case how is it corrected that Windows 8 has more a file editor and can suggest you other solutions.

    Hi Peter,.

We have no information about the compatibility of this software on Windows 8.1.

I understand that you have already contacted their support. RecImgManager

  • 8.1 Windows installation deletes all my desktop programs?

I have Windows 8 running fine on the desktop. I assumed that if I "upgraded" to Windows 8.1 it will remove all my programs 80 or this office, I have to reinstall all of them?

If this is the case, I now see NO reason to change to 8.1. Start directly on the desktop is a minor advantage, but we can do anyway with a tap if we move the desktop icon to the left upper corner of the screen of Metro or if we run Explorer on startup in Task Scheduler. I really wish MS would work out that 98% of people who use their computer for work hate the Metro screen and its almost unnecessary applications. If they don't work it out at the time wherever they release 9, they will have lost a lot of us permanently.

Updated 17 Dec: based on the advice of Andrew, I have installed 8.1 to 8.0 on one of our three machines of Windows 8. All office programs have been preserved. So the message to MS must be that if they can do this with 8.1, how come it is not possible with Refresh or restore of Windows 8? If Recimg is supposed to cool off without destroying programs. THANK YOU ANDRE
22 Feb: in January, I improved the other two machines. All programs of office remains functional.

But beware: transition of the preview to GTR seems to remove all programs and apps as stakeholders in this and other threads have noted.

No, once you upgrade through the Bank on the startup screen, your applications, personal settings will be retained.

As with all updates, make sure that you backup before the update:

Create a backup of your installation of Windows 8 on an external hard drive:

  • How to create a disk Image in Windows 8

I want to do something real Basic.  I think I know how, but the confirmation of the need.  I want a disk Image full of my hard drives so that if my hard next week C drive crashes I can quickly return to normal (normal, the way which was when I made the image).  I do not view the files in the Image or anything else.  I just want to avoid the week it would completely re - install everything.  With regard to data (not the files system etc, but my personal data), I have another solution for this.  I think that the option of recovering files in Windows 7 in Windows 8 will do what I want in what concerns the creation of an image, but I want to be sure.  I think everything I do is as follows:
In Windows 7 File Recovery select "create a System Image" and the backup on external media.  I think I also need to create a System Image repair disc.  Once this is done, if my C disk fails tomorrow I think that all I have to do, is as follows:
Put the recovery disk in my hard drive.  Start the computer to the reader and follow the instructions to copy the stuff on my external hard drive through my C drive.
Is the above, real or not?

You guessed it... The system image is an image of the reserved system & windows partitions.

With any Microsoft windows 8 install or update of the same bits of DVD or the same bits win8 system repair disc, put on cd, dvd or USB stick bootable... you can use it to boot from and there are simply in your sysem image and any hard drive of equal or greater size.    Will probably work.  Can never say for sure 100%.    its good to have a 2nd source of images and program to run it.  EaseUS ToDo Macrium or something.    Reads the command RecImg & what he does.

  • About this Mac window

A week ago I updated my Mac Mini end of 2014 to Sierra and, among other drawbacks, I found that the "to comments of this Mac window" doesn´t show when it is called. In addition, the button of the substitution of Apple ban on which they consider unreliable applications (i. e.  those not manufactured by Apple or not using the iTunes channel) is now gone and I won't unintentionally control I have in my computer. In this case, this means that I can't update latest version of Penny Fletcher of his useful Multimarkdown application.

  • I resized the Partition Mac to make more space for BootCamp and now Windows will not boot

On a collague MacBook Air running 10.11.4, we used disk utility to reduce the Mac Partition so that we could then use a Windows tool to extend the BootCamp partition. However, upon restart, we got a BACK screen with the error that Windows cannot start because it cannot find the boot device.

    Help, please?

This is not a mechanism supported by Apple to change the size of the Windows partition. Apple supports the remove/reinstall only.

We try to remedy. Please after the release of the following OSX Terminal commands.

    diskutil list

    Cs diskutil list

    sudo TPG - vv - r see the/dev/disk0

    sudo fdisk/dev/disk0

What is the model/year of the MBA? Please, do not post the serial number of your Mac. Orders 'sudo' will ask for your password.

  • Bootcamp Windows - partition cannot be mounted

    Hey all,.

I've been using Windows on my iMac (late 2012, Yosemite 10.10.5) without problem but today after I started MacOS Yosemite (to control simple file), cannot start again to return to Windows. Had no problem Bootcamp before... have not used to any advantage either 3rd disk utility. The only thing I have recently increased the Windows size 200 GB partition by decreasing the MacOS partition through disk utility (a month ago, no problem since then until today)

    1. Windows has disappeared from the startup disk

    2. disk utility shows disk0s4 gray and cannot be mounted. In addition, the correct partition size was 700 but here its listed as 500 GB GB (which was the old size before you increase it)

3 when I try to restart with pressed ALT, Windows, but cannot restart, with a black screen showing "a disk error occurred.

I'm not very familiar with techniques more. Only, I tried to install "Find" but cannot achieve anything with it.

I tried your advice above and seems THAT NTFS is there...

one last thing... when I try to check disk0s4, said "it should be repaired. When I hit repair; It says this:

Need my Windows as soon as POSSIBLE, what more should I do?

I don't have not upgraded to Sierra again. That I should? Or it will be even worse?

I have tons of files on Windows that I need and unfortunately not supported for a while anywhere (sorry about that now).

    Help, please...

    stuff more to indicate...

and I know if it's significant but cmd + s & ' fsck - fy "has not done anything other than check the Mac partition.

  • 8gig of ram will be enough to use windows?

I'm about to buy a macbook pro. This is the model of 512 gigabytes, 3.1 GHz, 8 GB ram. I want to only install windows to play spintires and that would be it. If I install windows and steam then spin tires it will the macbook running slower?

rotating the tires to the requirements

    CPU: 2.5 GHz Dual Core
    RAM: 4 GB

If you install Windows using Boot Camp Windows wizard will use all your computer RAM, 8 GB, when you start in Windows. It's more than enough RAM for Windows and a spin the requirements that you have posted.

If you boot into OS x, OSX will use all 8 GB of RAM.

  • How to install windows 8 or 7 Sierra?

Tried to install 7 or 8, since the installation of sierra what it messed my partitions where bootcamp windows 10, but now had to work I have to use an old Olympus Studio tool for project work/uni which works only on windows 7.

It seems that apple has control over what you do on a machine and the system I have invested important sums of money in. Very close to sale until the installation of all mac and return to windows. El Capitan was buggy on my machine before and cling endlessly.

installs Windows 7 is not fully supported in Sierra bootcamp

  • We can establish a common partition for Mac OS and Windows Boot Camp

I'm new to Mac, so please excuse my ignorance.

I have a MacBookPro 11 mid-2015 with 512 GB SSD and 16 GB of RAM.

I have Mac OS X El Capitan and that you have installed 10 Windows using the Boot Camp utility on a 150 GB partition. I wanted a common partition on exFAT which could serve as a repository for my data either of the OS. My intention - 150 GB for Mac OS - 200 GB of data - 150 GB for Windows 10. How can this be achieved?

Earlier, after the Boot Camp, I reduced the Mac OS to 350 GB partition to 150 GB and released 200 GB. Formatting this turned me expensive because it stopped my Windows to start. Repair it was a waste of time and effort. I draw the hard Windows on a Mac is sensitive to changes in the partition.

In addition, is using Virtual Box better than Boot Camp? I don't have as much virtualized environments.

    Please advice.

You can connect an external drive of ExFat formatted. The OSX and Windows can read/write on a disk formatted ExFat.

A virtual machine has its advantages, as does a Boot Camp facility. A virtual machine allows the simultaneous OS, any necessary initialization to change operating systems. Data can be shared between operating systems more easily. Computer such as memory resources are shared in a VM for applications environment to run slower.

Installation of Boot Camp allows Windows to run in native mode by using all of the system resources, so apps will go faster. But to change operating systems, a reboot is required. It is more difficult to share data.
