Given that recimg is my only refuge to create a new recovery partition, I can't because I get an error in the command line whenever I use the recimg command. Start directly on the desktop is a minor advantage, but we can do anyway with a tap if we move the desktop icon to the left upper corner of the screen of Metro or if we run Explorer on startup in Task Scheduler. I really wish MS would work out that 98% of people who use their computer for work hate the Metro screen and its almost unnecessary applications. If they don't work it out at the time wherever they release 9, they will have lost a lot of us permanently.

  Updated 17 Dec: based on the advice of Andrew, I have installed 8.1 to 8.0 on one of our three machines of Windows 8. All office programs have been preserved. So the message to MS must be that if they can do this with 8.1, how come it is not possible with Refresh or restore of Windows 8? If Recimg is supposed to cool off without destroying programs.   No, once you upgrade through the Bank on the startup screen, your applications, personal settings will be retained.

• How to create a disk Image in Windows 8

  I want to do something real Basic.  I think I know how, but the confirmation of the need.  I want a disk Image full of my hard drives so that if my hard next week C drive crashes I can quickly return to normal (normal, the way which was when I made the image).  I do not view the files in the Image or anything else.  I just want to avoid the week it would completely re - install everything.  With regard to data (not the files system etc, but my personal data), I have another solution for this.  I think that the option of recovering files in Windows 7 in Windows 8 will do what I want in what concerns the creation of an image, but I want to be sure.  I think everything I do is as follows:
  In Windows 7 File Recovery select "create a System Image" and the backup on external media.  I think I also need to create a System Image repair disc.  Once this is done, if my C disk fails tomorrow I think that all I have to do, is as follows:
  Put the recovery disk in my hard drive.  Start the computer to the reader and follow the instructions to copy the stuff on my external hard drive through my C drive.

  You guessed it... The system image is an image of the reserved system & windows partitions.

  With any Microsoft windows 8 install or update of the same bits of DVD or the same bits win8 system repair disc, put on cd, dvd or USB stick bootable... you can use it to boot from and there are simply in your sysem image and any hard drive of equal or greater size.    Will probably work.  Can never say for sure 100%.    its good to have a 2nd source of images and program to run it.  EaseUS ToDo Macrium or something.    Reads the command RecImg & what he does.

  I've been using Windows on my iMac (late 2012, Yosemite 10.10.5) without problem but today after I started MacOS Yosemite (to control simple file), cannot start again to return to Windows. Had no problem Bootcamp before... have not used to any advantage either 3rd disk utility. The only thing I have recently increased the Windows size 200 GB partition by decreasing the MacOS partition through disk utility (a month ago, no problem since then until today)

  2. disk utility shows disk0s4 gray and cannot be mounted. In addition, the correct partition size was 700 but here its listed as 500 GB GB (which was the old size before you increase it)

  If you install Windows using Boot Camp Windows wizard will use all your computer RAM, 8 GB, when you start in Windows. It's more than enough RAM for Windows and a spin the requirements that you have posted.

  If you boot into OS x, OSX will use all 8 GB of RAM.

  Tried to install 7 or 8, since the installation of sierra what it messed my partitions where bootcamp windows 10, but now had to work I have to use an old Olympus Studio tool for project work/uni which works only on windows 7.

  You can connect an external drive of ExFat formatted. The OSX and Windows can read/write on a disk formatted ExFat.

Data can be shared between operating systems more easily. Computer such as memory resources are shared in a VM for applications environment to run slower.
