• Need recommendation for laptop - for video editing

  I'm trying to looking for a new laptop and need recommendations based on how I use the laptop.  I produce videos and mainly use the following programs: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Encore DVD.  I also use other software such as AutoFX PGE7.0 of photo editing.

  I currently have a HP Pavilion which is about 5 years old.  This office has the following specifications:

  HP Pavilion PU131AV / a1050y, Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.20 GHz, 2 GB RAM, Windows XP MCE, SP3 32-bit, Nvidia GeForce 6600

  I believe that with a new laptop, I was able to create my videos more efficiently.  If you have any input as to what I need in a laptop for my specific purpose, please let me know.

  For what you are doing you need all the horsepower you can gather. You have not specified a budget and with what you're trying to do, I don't think that it would be useful to think of anything less than a thousand dollars. You need at least 4 GB of memory and preferably 8. You need a 64 bit version of Windows 7. You need a quad core or i7 processor. Regarding the size of the screen, it's a matter of personal choice, but I don't see how you can get in with less than a 15-inch screen. In respect to the HP products you can consider the urge again, but the problem is the lack of an internal optical drive (CD/DVD type).

  HP is running a special offer on the dv6t Quad model with an i7 processor, $ 999 with a free upgrade to 4 GB of RAM and a concert full of video memory. While your P4 3.2 was the killer at a time where it was released, the dv6t Quad run rings around her, particularly in Photoshop. Make sure that you use a recent version of Photoshop with 64-bit and support multi-core. Also be sure to get the 7200 RPM hard drive, because it makes a big difference in video editing.

  This is my first post here so please bear with me. I just bought a new laptop Lenovo Essentials B570 that comes with Windows 7 pre-installed. Previously, I used to buy Dell laptops which tend to come with the OS reinstallation DVD that check to see if they are installed on the hardware, it was bought for, but would allow us to install the OS on a new drive hard if the original one crashed. Now, Lenovo seems very complicated to allow the buyer to re - use install operating system - they should keep the same drive hard - but what happens is the disk hard breaks down and you want to install the operating system and all the drivers? The Dell DVD allows me to do exactly the same thing. Can I create a similar drive to install the OS on a new HDD as and when I want / need it please? I created two sets of DVD using the OKR - one software together using the 'system currently on the disc' and another series for 'reset to factory settings' - but what I have read on these forums these OKR discs would not work if I put a completely new hard drive. So, at least, if I can get hold of the correct version of the Windows DVD - as I paid for the license, I would be very grateful. Thank you.

  as you notice, we have already discussed this issue and the answer is if you want to keep functional okr, don't new volumes.

  beside that, you can use 3rd software to create a new volume windows cause can only create 4 volumes (which you already have 4 volumes - mbr, c, d, hidden-)

  It is your responsibility if you prefer re - partition the drive.
  (Yes, okr will be useless)

  If your drive dies hard, and if you have warranty still valid, no worries. replacement will be free.

  I have not personally tested for use okr with new empty hard disk drives, but I know it won't work. one is to clone hard drives.

  However, if you still want windows dvd, you can download and burn legally. (you may need to call microsoft to activate the windows)

• Can't recovery my HP laptop please help

  Hi, I have an Hp laptop (model: G62-340US) that I bought in 2009. Finally, it crushed in 2012 and has conducted the test and repeated my system without a reboot disk features. He told me to press F11 to recover my system, but it does not work. I did not initially to create a backup recovery disk when I bought the system but in my defense, the new feature says that a disc would not need to restore the system. Nevertheless, I should created one when even my problem is when I start my computer, the HP logo starts but need me a screen where it tells me that his writing copy protected and that there no disc reboot please install reboot disk. I have tried F11 but nothing happends and I tried esc knock to get recovery screen where I can choose F1 through F11. I chose F11 but it'll still take me to the screen where it ask me to insert the disc to reboot. I hope that my hard drive is not fried and if all goes well at least pay for a disk to reboot. Y at - there a step I'm missing? I mean I can't even get into my operating system (Windows 7) to try to recover from this end. Please help... Thank you.

  You should be able to install a 2.5 "drive hard 9.5 SATA2 mm, up to 1 TB, with no problems. The disc can be either 7200 rpm or 5400 RPM. A disc of 750 GB or 1 TB 7200 RPM may cause a slight decrease in the life of the battery. Other than that, they do not cause any problem and you won't need to replace / upgrade your battery or other components.

  I hate sourcing of a hard drive on eBay and stick to an online retailer or a local store.

  Thanks for posting your question on the Forum of the Microsoft community.

  You are unable to do anything because you are not signed in with an administrative account, so I you suggest to activate the default Administrator account and then try to create a new administrator account.

  Try the following steps to activate default Administrator and check if it helps.

  • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box, type lusrmgr.msc and click/click on OK.
  • In the left pane, click on/tap on the users folder, and then in the pane, double-click on/tap on administrator. (see sceenshot below)

  

  • Do step 4 or 5 below what you would want to do. (see sceenshot below)

  

  • To activate the account administrator built-in in Windows 8
    • Uncheck account is disabled , click/click on OKand proceed to step 6 below. (see screenshot below step 3)
  • To disable the built-in in Windows 8 Administrator account
    • Check the account is disabled , click/click on OKand proceed to step 6 below. (see screenshot below step 3)
  • Close local users and groups window.
  • The built-in administrator will now be available to select to connect to.

  I have a HP Pavilion dv6885se laptop which came with 3 GB of RAM. I took the 1 GB stick and put a 2 GB in. It is compatible and all, but the report of system is still saying I have 3GB of "Physical memory", although she ways 4 GB for "Installed". I have been informed that the 32-bit operating system can handle only 3.5 GB. But since I installed 4, shouldn't the "physical memory" read 3500MB?         I have Vista 32 bit, the computer can handle 4 GB of RAM DDR2 - 667 PC25300.   How can I get the computer to recognize that it's full of potential 3.5 GB?

  Its extensible so that if you choose the 64 bit version of Windows you can do

  64 bit OS, then it would likely came with the 4 GB already and cost a bit more.

  Manufacturers should be a little clearer for people who do not understand

  the differences. Your MCM came with 3 GB because they, HP, knew that the 32

  bit version of Windows installed only use and see this amount.

  You can leave the 4 GB. It won't hurt a thing. If you decide to upgrade to the 64

  bit version that you will have to start from scratch on the installation. Not recommended

  You have a few options as I see it.

  Go into Device Manager and uninstall the sound driver and restart and unit automatically installs the driver.

  Try to run the system restore to the date where the unit was working fine.

  Try to update the driver from hp.com for Bios and Audio site.
