Recover a file VMDK Snapshoted / consolidate a snapshot

Hello

I have a very big problem and I don't know how to deal with in the right way, I had a few old server that was set up with the weekly snapshots.

and we have some hardware problem with the server that cause some files to capture instant adeleted the data store ccidentally.

We can recover some of the vmdk files.

image attached with files you can find on the server.

We tried a few steps in order to recover the machine (change on vm vmdk configure / create a new snapshot, and delete everything in the Snapshot Manager)-I was able to turn it on with the flat vmdk, but the data is less 6 months ago.

I found a few articles on consolidate an instant snapshot and difficulty of string but I did not really understand how to go about it.

What should I do? Is it possible to merge these files or extract files from them?

Capture.PNGunnamed.png

Okay, so what I found in the files and file sizes I rebuilt an instant string possible.

The string is: 5-> 4-> 1->->->-> db1.vmdk 6 2 14

I had to modify two files hard (see attachment). The first fix was on no. 14 that indicated a snapshot does not exist n13. The (next) one parent that makes sense here is no. 2, so I went no. 14, no. 2. The second challenge was to change the parrentCID No. 6 to match the basic disk CID. The reason for this shift is more likely, because you have turned on on the virtual machine with db1. vmdk used as virtual virtual machine disk.

What I recommend you do now, is to replace the two .. the VMDK (12 and 6) files with those that I have attached to this post and then clone the virtual disk from the command line by running vmkfstools-i db1 - 000005.vmdk db1 - clone.vmdk

The next step is to attach the newly created clone as an additional virtual disk with a help of VM, or - if you want to see if the VM is able to start - fix it db1 - clone.vmdk directly on the virtual machine from db1. In the second case, please create a new snapshot before you turn the virtual machine with the cloned virtual disk. In this way that the db1 - clone.vmdk will not be changed.

In no case be prepared there could be corruption in the file system of the client!

  • Consolidate files vmdk (lack of snapshots)

I made the mistake of trying to free up space by deleting all snapshots, and then decide the ESX Server was insensitive and rebooted. I got the chance to still have virtual machines of work later. I now 17 files vmdk disk of the virtual machine, but given that the snapshots have been deleted, I can't delete just them. Is there an easy way to consolidate in the vmdk to parent?

    Hello

To consolidate all snapshots, you need to make sure that all the file descriptor and the discs are in the same directory, I would advice if you can make a copy of the entire folder first if you have enough space. Now for consolidation, you need to make sure that the first you cross all the descriptor files and make sure you have the correct mapping of PID and CID. PID: Disk Parent, CID: the child disk.

Lets say you start from the base.vmdk, it will not all PID as the parent root it will be 00001.vmdk CID, of same will PID as the basis and CID 00002.vmdk 00001.vmdk you must ensure that this channel is maintained by the last disk.

Once this is done then you can run vmkfstools-i on the latest snapshot of disk and create a new destination disk that will be the new combined disk that will have all of the snapshots are committed on the basic disk.

  • Recover deleted files iCloud

I accidentally deleted several iCloud files. Well, that was intentional. I just didn't read the pop-up warning that all files would be dumped from the cloud AND my camera.

All you connect to icloud.com search to recover these files. When I go on this Web site, I get a screen set with 3 options available:

    1. implement the iCloud on this device

    2. open find my iPhone

    3. open find my friends

There is another link of small print that says "Check the Lock activation status"

Anyway. There is no option to sign in. iCloud drive is enabled, active, operational, whatever... on my iPad2 (iOS 9.3.4). When I tap on option 1, I get to a statement 4 step to set up my device... that is now complete.

Since information about restoring deleted iCloud files are 2 to 3 years, maybe Apple has changed this option by removing it. Or icloud.com refuses to deal with an older machine. Or maybe I should learn to read everything that appears on my iPad...

Suggestions? Need more information? I really want to get these files, or I will be forced to withdraw from this gadget and return to my portable tank. Thank you, all!

You can do it from a computer. To get there from an iOS device: after you get to the screen with the 3 above, press on and hold the semicircular arrow at the far right of the toolbar URL (address) until it displays the words "Request the Site Desktop" on the screen and then press that.

What is the best way to recover these files, if there is one. Oh!

No if you have reused the player and "crushed" of your files. Otherwise, see below:

    General file recovery

If you stop using the drive it is possible to recover files that have not been overwritten by using the recovery software such as MAC Data Recovery, Data Rescue II, recovering files or TechTool Prodeleted.  Each of the previous ones come on a bootable CD for use without risk to write more data to the disc.  Two free alternatives are disk drill and Cisdem DataRecovery. Recovery software generally provides trial versions which allows you to determine if the software would help before actually paying for it. Beyond that, or if the drive has completely failed, you must send the drive to a recovery service which is very expensive.

The hard drive remains the most widely used and the data are recorded, the greater the chance that your deleted files will be overwritten.

You can't look "inside" a backup. Just use iTunes to sync with your iPhone, then you'll see a separate category for voice memos in the sidebar.

  • Satellite U - How to recover deleted files from mysafe?

    Hello

Does anyone know how to recover deleted files from mysafe?

I'm not 100% sure but I think that the data in this folder will not be deleted to bin recycled initially, but they will be removed immediately.
    How recovery them? Good question?

Try to find some third party applications that can scan the HARD disk for deleted files. The point is that it will work if the FAT (File allocation table) is deleted only. This means that the file is on the HARD disk, but the disk HARD doesn t know where exactly.
Hmmm... It is not so easy.

  • How can I recover music files lost due to synchronization with another device?

My music files have been on my Ipod Touch, then during what I thought, it was a normal synchronization, all my music disappeared from my IPod. I tried to sync again and it is still missing. Also, all my music went from ITunes.

    My computer is a PC.

Is it possible for me to recover the files?

    Hi clowdnyne,

With a few exceptions, all the music that you purchased through the iTunes Store, or when you use iTunes on your Windows computer or on your iPod touch, can be downloaded from the store once again, if it is still available on the store. See this article - download your past purchases.

  • Recover deleted files / folders in my laptop

I accidentally deleted a folder (containing the doc and ppt, JPEG files) on my desktop from HP running on Win7.

How can I recover the files and folder?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

    John

    Hi John,.

One possible option is to try the following.

Click the Start Menu, click your username at the top right.  Right-click on the Documents folder (or anywhere where the deleted file was originally stored) and select Properties.  Click on the "Previous Versions" tab and give it time to load (this can take a few minutes).  If you get a list of the previous versions, left-click one of the mentions just to highlight and open - if you see your files listed, close the list and then click on the option 'Restore' in the Properties window.  If no file is listed, try to open another entrance.

    Kind regards
