Recover lost digital ID to open the file.

Dear friend,

I have PDF files that have been signed digitally and now this system hard drive has been damaged where digital IDs or signatures have been saved. So now when I try to open the files after copyning on the new HDD it returns error as in the snapshot below added. Please go through it.

Is not sort of open this file (s) by retrieving the digital ID that's lost continuous?

I agree strongly that the solution lies with only with th Acrobat or expert team as the lender of last resort.

I'm fighting for this for two years, but in vain. I can even join and send you the file please contact me at [email protected]Digital ID.JPG

The message you see is because the PDF file has been "encrypted" using a digital, although certificate that the document may contain a digital signature, it is not related to this message.  Digitally signed PDF is opened in Reader\Acrobat regardless of whether or not the digital certificate used to sign the document is stored on the computer.

When a PDF file is encrypted with a digital certificate, they are encrypted for a specific user or multiple users with their respective 'public key' parts of their digital certifiate.  For the intended user open PDF encrypted, the system used to open the PDF file must have access to the corresponding "private key" of the digital certificate.  The 'private key' is stored in a file with a. P12 or. PFX extension (other ways to store the credentials of theses include on a smart card or hardware security Module).

The only way to open this document is having access to the 'private key', if you don't have a back-up of this, or access to another computer where the credentials are installed, then you won't be able to open this document.

If you know the author (or the person who has encrypted PDF file), you may contact them for a copy unencrypted of the PDF, or ask them to remove the encryption if possible.

Concerning

Steve

  • When I download something on the Web, the "Downloads" window opens, but that the window remains empty. Before it used to show at least the name of the file and I was able to open the file in the "Downloads" window Is it possible to recover this feature?

I am running Windows XP that is updated to the latest version (which I think could be Service Pack 3, but not positive.) Mozilla Firefox is version 5.0. I tend to use Google as my search engine, so most of the stuff I download comes through sites found through Google, which is also updated.

At some point in the past (there are maybe a few versions) when I want to download a file from the Internet, the "downloads" window opens and in the window would display the name of the file I got was download or came from download. I think I used to be able to then click on the file name and opens the file (or the Setup file if necessary to launch the new program). I am currently using Firefox 5.0 (screen "On Firefox" said that it is up to date) and when I download a file or document, the "Downloads" window appears on the screen as it has always in the past, but it remains empty, that is, nothing is displayed in the download area. I don't remember to make configuration changes, etc., that may have caused the window to remain a Virgin, but I could be wrong. I know how to find the items I downloaded (My Documents / downloads) and can generally guess what might be the name of the downloaded file, but it was much easier when something (anything) appeared in the downloads window.

I'd like someone to tell me about a simple solution for this. I'm ready to be pretty embarrassed that I did something I should not have.

In the Firefox Options / confidentiality be sure 'Remember download history"is checked. To see all the options on this Panel, "Firefox will be" must be set to "use the custom settings for history".

To find your OS information, on your Windows desktop, right-click on the icon my computer, choose Properties, this little window is info on your operating system.

Try to start your system from a "Live Linux" CD free.  This CD runs a version of Linux without installing anything on your hard drive.  To create the CD, you download a file ".iso" and feature "Burn Image" of your CD burner to create a bootable CD.  The advantage, that you win, is that Linux is a lot less strict with permissions, so you should be able to access your files and copy them to a USB device.  Some Linux Live CD are:
    Knoppix: <> http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html >
    Ubuntu: <> http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/try-ubuntu-before-you-install >
Ubuntu is actually an installation disc, so be very careful to follow the 'Try Me' instructions so that don't accidentally install you it on your hard drive.

An another boot CD, you might try is "Hiren".  It is in fact a version of "First environment" of Windows XP, so you could get access to some files that you would otherwise not not when starting on this disc.

  • Cannot open the document because the file is locked. Use the 'Properties' command in Windows Explorer to open the file.

I am a member of the Administrators group on my computer.  I have a folder full of files and other folders that I denied access for administrator users.  Not sure when it appeared that I had gone for the holidays, but now I am unable to open the files located in this folder.  I can delete, move, and rename at will, but can not open.  I tried all the resets of permissions I can think as well as read all knowledge base articles I can find but still not get these files to open.

I've recently updated MS Security Essentials, do not know if this has a any correlation.

At one point, I saw the certificate and it ranked as not approved.  How would this change?  Would this impact my ability to open files yet again let me move, delete and rename?  If so, how can I solve?

I restore to a restore point previous and not yet open - also received an error message telling me MS Security Essentials would not work properly.  So I undid the restore.

Thank you in advance for any input.  PatrixUSA

In fact, it starts to make a lot of sense today.  The files that you have problems with have been encrypted with EFS.  EFS is closely related to the NTFS file system.  As long as you move files encrypted in the same Volume, it is not a problem, because a move is an operation of directory and the directories themselves are not encrypted (only the files that are there).  Whenever you move an encrypted volume to another file, the file must be decrypted, transferred to the other volume, then re-encrypted to destination.  Thus, the destination volume must be a NTFS file system to keep encrypted files.  If the destination is not a NTFS volume, then the copy would result in a file that is not encrypted at the destination and you will be prompted as to whether or not to allow the operation.  In all cases, a copy of volume-volume requires decryption of the file and any operation that requires a decryption error of access for you - more your inability to open a file normally indicates that you no longer control the certificate to decrypt the file.

Backups are another matter.  If you are using Microsoft Backup utility (NTbackup), so he recognizes the encrypted file attribute and it backs up as - is without decoding.  Other 3rd third-party backup programs may not recognize the encrypted files and simply read and write to the backup media.  When this happens, the files are automatically decrypted to read (assuming the user certificates requires archiving) and writings of backup to a file unencrypted.  This would explain why you can retrieve an archive and it is not encrypted.  DVD and optical bands do not use NTFS, so a decryption of the original file is required to save in these environments.

The private part of your (needed for decryption of files) EFS encryption certificate itself is stored encrypted on your computer.  To decrypt, Windows uses your SecureID, password, and other things of which I'm unaware.  If your password is not reset in the normal way (i.e. by entering your current password and your new password) such as an administrator, then your certificate is not re-encrypted to your new password and your access lose him and with him, access to your EFS files.  Other forms of corruption can cause you to lose your certificate, but it seems that at some point you have lost access to your certificate and therefore cannot access files that have been encrypted under this certificate.

New files that you write in a directory that has been activated with EFS will notice that you have a valid certificate and then automatically generate a new certificate that will be used to encrypt files from right now.  That's why the new files that you add to this directory appear to work well.  The only real mystery what I can't explain is the reason why a system restore to a time where it wasn't a problem does not allow you to restore access.

If you want some heavy reading, try this:

"Encrypting file system in Windows XP and Windows Server 2003"

Personally, I'm not fan of the EFS because of problems like this.  I prefer the freewareTruecrypt which is just as safe, but I myself manage keys (in the form of password) instead of Windows.  Also, it hides the names of files and can be used safely on a connection in network and backup from windows volume is encrypted little matter how they are done.  I have not lost all data encrypted in more than a decade.

computer crashed, have windows vista, indented leave, all the documents lost, can I get all the files, how to do it, in simple terms,

    Thank you.

If by "computer of new beginning" you mean that you have started your recovery or disk restore factory set and reinstalled Windows, then the ability to recover your files is practically zero.  You can try a utility like Recuva (http://www.piriform.com/recuva) but since you have rewritten the entire hard drive, it is highly unlikely that anything will be recoverable.

"The file was created by a version of Windows Movie Maker that is not supported." Why is - what happens after 6 days of work on this project?

I worked on a Windows Movie Maker file last week, upload music, photos and video clips. I'm almost done with the project and start the final transitions. However, today, I was not able to open the file. The answer I get is: The MSWMM was created by a version of Windows Movie Maker that is not supported. "Why is - what happens after 6 days of working on this project without any problems. Please please help.

    =======================================
The project .mswmm file seems to be corrupted. I feel
    you have to start over.

Large, complex projects tend to cause problems... the best bet
would be to create several small projects, Publishing (economy)
each of them in the format .wmv movie to a folder on your hard drive
drive and then re - import clips video .wmv collected and
combine them into a final video file.

Or... import clips .wmv in creation of DVD and each Let's
become a scene (chapter), you can have up to 18 scenes.

FWIW... many file formats are would have been compatible with
Movie Maker, but the most reliable choices are:

    Photos - bmp
Video - wmv or dv - avi
    Music - wma, wav, wmv

  • Adobe Flash CC issue "an error has occurred opening the file.

I worked on an animation last night, but when I tried to open the file I get this error that says: "an error has occurred opening the file. I am able to open my other projects flash very well, and I've been looking for a solution to my problem, but not luck.

If this file is corrupt, you can

1 rename the fla in rar > open it in winrar > click on repair > rename the rar repaired a fla > try to open it in flash pro.

    2. If this does not work, and you have a working swf file, you can try using a decompiler (for example, soththink) to recreate a working Fla.

    3. in case of failure, you may be able to recover a portion of your assets of fla by unrar'ing the FLA renamed in step 1.

and save again in the future, with the increase in the version numbers so that this would never entail a significant problem for you in the future.

  • Cannot open the file Ai CC15 recorded yesterday, Illustrator crashes on attempt

    Hello

I can't open the file which worked great yesterday in Illustrator CC 2015. All other files will open very well, except for this one. It is a map with several text file and vector shape layers, other than to have a lot of text has nothing unusual in it - no 3rd party plugins, exotic fonts or styles of any kind.

I could open in Adobe Acrobat and register again with the extension .pdf, but Illustrator opens either this version.

When I try to open one of the files, Illustrator crashes:

Not really sure what caused the file corrupted, I closed and reopened several times yesterday and he didn't give me any grief.

Deleted file recovery can recover incomplete files, i.e. the part of these files may be missing.  Recover deleted files is much more reliable if recovery of a backup, instead of using recovery software.

These things depend on the operating system and the file system.

  • Cannot open the files from the shared network drive

Hi, I am trying to open a file located on a server of storage attached to the network in a shared drive. When I try to open the file in Photoshop CC 2014 directly or by double-clicking in the file Explorer, I get a pop-up box in Photoshop that says that the image of CR2 is not the right kind of document. If I copy the file to another USB drive attached, the file opens correctly in Camera Raw.

This will give you tangentially more insight in the work through a network to NOT be supported by Adobe:

This is the standard text often used for saving to a network (NOTE the part where he explains that normally, it works, but it is impossible to solve someone else on the network remotely, and that's why he didn't is not supported by Adobe):

If you open files on a network, or saved on a network server, please cease and desist immediately in the case where you currently have problems with one or more files. On a network is not supported.

    See:

    http://kb2.Adobe.com/CPS/406/kb406793.html

Copy the local file CLOSED your server hard disk, work on it, again to save it on your local hard drive, close it and copy the closed file on the server.

Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support work on a network does not necessarily mean that it doesn't work.  It should be.

Adobe position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to ensure that everything will work properly in all systems, particularly in view of the fact that that something will not work properly, it is probably the fault of the network, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting of your network.

If you are unable to work locally, you are yourself, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you work from a server, make sure that your network administrator is a competent professional.

When problems arise, much valuable work can be lost.
