  • You want to recover product key of Windows 8.

Hi, I have a laptop Acer AspireOne with preload Windows 8. I want to retrieve the product key, but I can't access the windows, because the hard disk has severe bad sector. Now my client wants to change the hard drive, but I can't install windows 8, who need product key. So, I need to help solve the problem. Thank you.

With Windows 8, Microsoft changed stickers that have the product key that the user must type in during the installation of the operating system of new embedded BIOS product key. The idea is that by eliminating the tile, you eliminate one of the easiest ways for nefarious users get a legitimate product key. The sticker also eliminating product key removes any concern that the vignette could get damaged while at the same time eliminating the long and irritating the process of typing in various letters and numbers in the installation of the operating system.

If the user has to reinstall the operating system on a computer with Windows 8, the installation process automatically captures key software product of the motherboard BIOS without input from the user. This means that these stickers familiar windows product key will no longer appear on Windows 8 computers.

If you need to reinstall Windows 8, you will need to ask Acer recovery media:

  • Incorrect product key (activate Windows)

I removed what appears to be a built home computer using XP Pro without recovering product key.  Now, when I try to enter a product key on another machine that is not in use (XP Pro), the above is displayed.  Should I erase drive of the machine so that I can reuse its product on the house built a key?

The product key must match the version of Windows that you are installing.  In addition to matching XP Home vs XP Pro, it must match the category of license (retail vs OEM).  Looks like you have a retail CD and try to use an old machine OEM license to save it.  An OEM license dies with the first computer, on which he is responsible.  A retail license may be transferred to another computer.  So, if you are installing from a CD at retail, then you will need a license to retail to go with it.

  • I changed my internal hard drive, but I can't read my product key

The Microsoft sticker is on the bottom of my laptop, but most of the product key has been rubbed off.

I tried to activate by automated phone, but every time I do it then asks me to change my product key, that I can not read.
Is there a phone number that I can call to speak to a real person?
I'm originally from England, but living in France, which could be a reason why it won't work? I do not speak enough french to use the automated service.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Satellite C660-1R1 - recover Windows 7 product key

    Dear Toshiba support,

My Toshiba Satellite C660-1R1 bought in 2011. By the end of 2013, the original HARD drive died and I replaced it with an SSD. That said, I can't start the recovery with the original Windows 7 installation partition, or I can retrieve the product key from the registry. In addition, the sticker of the product key on the back of the laptop is almost unreadable. I read only a few letters.

Is it possible for the support of Toshiba recover my Windows 7 Home product key based on the serial number and other details? I can send the whole of the back of my laptop with two stickers to the evidence.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi marcinziel
You are lucky to have a product key sticker (COA).
Some people have had success with the digitization of the AOC and using software to improve the image.
This year I bought a R50 Pro of the Satellite with Windows 7 pro and I can't find a sticker (COA) about it.

I want to recover my product key to activate my windows

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

You must not be activate Windows on your laptop.

If you have deleted the installation of the OS and replaced by one you what whether you downloaded (for example, a file ISO from Microsoft), that won't work because, most likely, this will be a commercial version and your product key is an OEM from HP version.

That said, you should be able to retrieve the key using this utility: download Windows OEM product key 1.0.0.1 tool

    Good luck

    original title: product key

    Hello

As you have lost the product key of the Tower, it is a preinstalled operating system and you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer.

They give you a different product key.

What you can do now is ask them to send you a set of recovery disc for the computer model reinstall the operating system to how it was when new.

Also while you are in contact with them, if you never receviced a reinstall to purchase drive, ask them how to make the recovery discs to do the same thing, if you still have access to the recovery partition.

None of these methods of resettlement requires normally allows you to provide a product key during Installation, the recovery process uses the Installation product key factory to activate automatically during the resettlement process.

    Original title: ask

Hi, I formatted my hard drive of the PC... and I lost my product key. you will need to recover my product key. What can I do? Help me please!

    Hello

If pre-installed, look for the PK on the COA sticker.

The COA sticker is either or in the battery compartment on the underside of the laptop.

With a desktop computer, it's on the side, the back or the top of the computer case.

If you can't find that, order the recovery media from the manufacturer of the computer that must install without your input of a PK.

    Check with the manufacturer...

    See you soon.
