Recovery disc / Partition HP Drive "D": your system may be at risk

HP Media Center m7248n desktop PC. Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition.

A friend borrowed my HP-M7248N desktop at the top for a while and when she returned, I noticed that the BONE was different there no Media Center more. There seemed to be a problem and charged a non legitimate version of Windows XP Prof.(of course he did not ask or know of the recovery partition), which gives me this error: "you may be a victim of software counterfeiting". I had burned on the recovery disk two DVDs for this HP M7248N. But shortly after the original DVD burner which came with this office stops working, under warranty. Future Shop replaced a LG writer. And when I put in the recovery discs in my version of Windows Media Center Professional recovery and I boot from the disk and you get this error: "these PC disks do not support this recovery mode PC. I noticed also when I try to watch what is discs, the new DVD recorder and the DVD Player do not open very quickly and the Task Manager indicates that several times while trying to open the disc is: "does not!  I bet that the discs are not good.

Is it possible to access and run the program of recovery out of the partitioned drive D? It seems to be still intact. I can't start the recovery mode, because F - 10 is not recognized on this illegal version of Windows XP Professional. Any help to get my Windows XP Media Center professional race would be appreciated. I thought I'd try compose the two DVD to solve the compatibility problem with reading DVD so badly.

Thank you readers... QuickMilt

You're welcome, sorry there was no simple solution for your problem, I hope Future Shop No tattoo BIOS utility and can do the flash to match your old Board and recovery disks.

Good luck and post back with the results.

Restore the PC to its original state with the HP Recovery Manager if Windows Vista is not accessible

    Maybe this article:
    http://www.ZDNet.com/blog/Bott/lost-your-Windows-discs-how-to-get-replacement-media-legally/4320

HP has a simple recovery process, and its policy to provide filtering alternatives is well integrated in its support pages.

I went through the process of replacing for a two-year-old HP Pavilion Elite m9600t. This system was built in the summer 2009, before Windows 7 shipped. As a result, my only option was to support Windows Vista 64-bit. For first class mail, HP shipping or taxes added up to $15.80. (I might have updated 2-day or night FedEx delivery for another $6 or $12, respectively.)

From this page: HP and Compaq Desktop PC: looking for recovery discs?

There step by step instructions to create a recovery disc for Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP. Also, it offers the possibility to order replacement disks, but warns that these discs may only be available for a limited time:

If you are unable to create a set of recovery discs, you may be able to order a set of replacement of HP HP discs. maintains an inventory of recovery disks of replacement several years after the product was released. However, due to licensing restrictions, HP is able to provide these recovery disc for a limited time. If the computer is several years after its warranty period, HP isn't maybe able to provide replacement for your computer disks.

I tried with a model of 2008 HP (long out of warranty) and was able to locate filtering alternatives.

The process of media control was a little confused. The key is to start with the appropriate model number, then click on software and driver downloads, as shown here:

On the next page, you are prompted to select an operating system. The support link to recovery in the results list is available only if you select the version of Windows that your computer initially comes with. If you do not see a section "Recovery media", HP suggest "to ensure that you are on the right model number page and select another operating system." It worked for me.

Interestingly, the last section on the page is titled "finding of the recovery disks from other Web sites. It contains a warning at the top in bold: try all other options in the paper support before attempting to order recovery disks at outside HP.

If HP is further providing the recovery disc for your computer model and is no longer possible to create a recovery disk, you may be able to find a solution outside of HP.

Popular online auction sites and providers of computer parts may have a part in stock original recovery disk. However, be cautious and aware of the risks when buying from a source outside of HP recovery disks. Beware of sites that offer recovery solutions when they are not affiliated with HP.

Even if HP could not have a recovery disc available for purchase of value, search the part HP command Web site to find recovery kit part number that corresponds to your computer. Once you find the part number of the recovery disc, use the number in your search for best results.

It's actually good advice. If you can find a part number, you may be able to find records of replacement from a legitimate outside vendor that specializes in parts for the models of the manufacturer of your PC.

  • HP PAVILION ELITE E9280T D: CTO need new recovery disc

I have a pair of old HP Pavillion E9280T desktop systems. I have recently installed a new hard disks on the two (both are identical machines, ordered that a pair of HP).  I also have a two sets of recovery disks that I made when the systems are new, saved on DVD.

On a single system, I was able to successfully perform a full restore (return to factory settings).  On the other system, recovery stops on the 3rd disc in 68% and gives me the following error message: "Recovery Manager is unable to restore your computer by using the original image. Please contact HP support. 0xe0ef000e error code.

I've searched the forums and found that many others have experienced this same problem.  I tried some of the proposed fixes, such as clean rags and Re-partitioning the hard drive.  None of them worked.

For fun, I also tried to recover the system using the recovery of the other machine disks.  I discovered that I was able to do a full system recovery using these disks.  It tells me that I have probably a corrupt set of recovery disks and not a hardware problem.

Unfortately, while it was fun to find out where the source of the problem, I can of course use the same set of recovery disc for both machines (I'm sure that Windows will blow up as soon as I connect to the internet and connect to MS servers).

So my question is... what should I do?  I don't think that HP sells the recovery discs any longer.  But I have a copy of Win7 Pro that I paid for, trapped on the recovery discs that don't work.

In advance, thank you for any suggestions or advice.

OK... im going to answer my own question... I should have realized this earlier, before posting my initial question.

I had a set of recovery disc for an HP same machine... at the beginning I don't think that I could use them... I did not know that the unique product key MS is not copied or assigned to the recovery discs... and since both systems where the same in all respects... it worked!

  • How to use the rescue and recovery and product recovery discs?

    Hello world

I just recently became a new owner of a T61 and really enjoy. I did have a chance yet to test the hotline of lenovo, as I've not yet screwed anything up if badly needing their help. I tried a factory clean reinstall from the service partition and it worked fine. I would like to know, how one uses it the rescue and the recovery boot disk and the recovery disks of the product I created myself? From my previous experience with Dell and HP, I didn't insert the one and restart the computer, and the rest followed. But the ThinkPads, if I ever wanted to bring a State own factory using these disks, can I use with rescue and recovery first, followed by the recovery of product? I'm curious, what is the difference between the two?

    1. Place the rescue and recovery disc in the drive, and then restart.  This disc contains the same program that you used when you restored your system from the service partition.  Once the program is loaded, you will see the same screen with the same options as before.
    2. Choose to restore your system as you did with the service partition.  You will not see an option to do a custom restore.  When the program is run from the disk, it automatically performs a full restore.
    3. The program will rebuild the service partition and copy the program files on him.  When you are prompted, insert the product recovery disks.  The compressed system and application files contained on these discs will be copied to the new service partition.  Once the copy process is completed, your system will be restored from the service partition.
    4. After restoration, you will be able to make a new set of recovery discs if you wish.  You will also be able to do a restore custom through the service partition.

  • best2serve pile of crap recovery disc

    Hello

Two weeks ago, I ordered a set of recovery disc for an HP Pavilion ms215uk all in a desktop pc.

I paid £31.06 for drives that turn up. (7 days from order to receipt) - fair enough.

However - they did not work. Disc 1 is OK, but on the insertion of disk 2, I got an error in Dutch (not English) that the system recovery discs would not work on this system.

Great Stuff - Hp cannot even provide the correct disks.

Good so I then sent their emails of support of shit and got a response indicating that they would send others.

7 days later the disks turned up and guess what?

Yes - they do not have work - same message - Dutch once again - and after inserting the disc 2 disc 5.

It's 2 weeks - no recovery drive of work for my system - and 10 coasters.

What the hell is happening with this crap company. No phone support (now I know why) and only contact by email - which they have not responded to and its now more than 24 hours.

All brands on the site - even HP Hp can't help saying that I need to contact best2serve.

Well I can't contact them because there is no way to contact them outside of the email.

As far as I am concerned the disks are under warranty and that I should beable to call and ask why they do not work or have at least my money I can buy a copy of windows 7 and do a reinstall completely Virgin.

2 weeks is not good enough - I'm just glad that the discs are not intended for a customers machine. Best2serve are crap - useless - and not very reliable from what I've read on this forum and the net in general.

Oh - and discs are not manufactured or factory - basically, they are 1 x cd blank with green dye and 4 x dvd with purple dye. In other words discs burned and unprepared discs.

And they are not scratched btw.

So my question is what you do about best2serve or Hp?

I have to go to the negotiation of standards?

    Or

I have to create a website denouncing the best2web service and support - I could do a good job of it too.

    Your call.

    concerning

    peedoffbigtime

    Hi Paul,.

As promised I have news on the situation.

    And here are my results.

After many phone calls and e-mails to Hp and best2serve, I figured out that the Pc should be sent repair.

That's why the recovery disks wouldn't work - pc necessary fixation. EVIL.

The recovery discs would not work because I had installed a new hardrive.

The recovery discs check the dmi information in bios or dmi on the "original hard drive" string that is automatically written in sector 8 hard drive at the factory.

Replace the hard drive or the motherboard and your recovery disks do not work.

BIOS updates can mess up too, the dmi information which was not the case with this pc.

It's the original Bios HP 2009 - there isn't another available on Hp website.

However for some reason any (nothing that I did at all)-

    Model number: MS215UK

    Serial number: 123456789

    Version identifier: 94WEv6PrA2

The string Featurebyte: 333rd 2S2V and so on

    Part number: VG256AA

    The country Code: #ABU

has all the missing since the information screen of the bios by pressing F10 to access the bios.

It was like that for / to the plant.

To solve this problem, I used an Hp dmi tool that is not accessible to the public, but a google search for cpc_dmi hp tool should get what you need. He made me.

The 2010 version is the one you need.

So, I used the Hp Dmi's tool and the cpc_dmi.exe of a bootbale disk file and published this information.

Once I had done that and saved the settings of the chip rom all the correct information was shown on the system bios screen.

Now armed, knowing this info has been tattooed in the rom chip system I proceeded with the recovery disk install again.

I used the cd 'First use this disc' and then started the drive 1 0f 4

This now gave me a good screen of Hp recovery option rather than the screen in Dutch say the recovery discs would not work on this system message.

Disc 1 0f 4 installed perfectly and so the other 3.

My system is now recovered and working as it did in 2009 when purchased new.

    Then

I corrected the error of recovery disks don't work do not.

I stuck two fingers up to the Hp support.

I saved myself over £100 + by sending only not in Hp update bios dmi information. (FIX my donkey)

That said it took me two days to get this working correctly through complete trial and error, but I'm a happy guy now.

Oh - and don't will never buy Hp again. They suck.

    Thanks for the help

  • Cleaner installation (Windows 7 recovery discs)

I use a pavilion laptop (dv7-3085dx) and I would like to do a clean install of windows 7.  After ordering HP recovery discs I booted from the dvd system recovery, reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows 7.  Then he asked me to put on the cd of driver and application recovery and method to install a ton of bloatware on my fresh system.  There is no option of autorun on the cd that allows you NOT to fill your computer full of useless * beep *.

After Googling the problem I came up with two possible solutions:

    (1) install the cd drivers and complete applications, and then using a program such as pc-decrapifier

    (2) selectively install drivers useful and apps after install the clean by using a cd image program.

I feel that programs such as "pc decrapifier" still leave bloatware remains in the registry and that installing selectively useful drivers and applications can be tricky.  Does anyone have tips for how should I proceed and what applications and drivers are essential or useful?

TL; DR how can I reinstall windows 7 in order to avoid bloatware and have a fully functional computer?

    Thank you guys!

Just so I'm clear: do you recommend that I have download a windows7 cd image file, burn it to a cd and then do a clean install with a new disc?  There will be legal consequences for using this method?  Will I always have updates of Windows 7?  Is there something else I need to be aware of when installing from the windows 7 installation disc standard?  In addition, the link you sent me seems to be broken.  I am quite able to find ISO files, but you have another link that you would recommend?

    Thanks for your help

    1 Yes

    2. links on this page are to the Microsoft site, but I am not a lawyer

    3. Yes

4, yes you have to load a driver Sata (Intel only) during installation, there is an option "Load driver" during the beginning of the installation of W7, if installation of W7 do not find a hard drive, start the installation again and load the Sata driver.

There may be other drivers, you need to install once installation is complete, check for missing drivers Device Manager, if you can connect to the internet to do a windows update and see if it suggests and driver optional downloads.

    5. try this link, I would not trust other sources, the iso can be infected.

The recovery discs you created contain the operating system - if you ever need to use them, they will reinstall your original Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit but also to reinstall all of the original software that came with your laptop.

  • using recovery discs

I have a compaq S3100AN computer that I got from a friend. I formatted the hard drive and I want to use the recovery discs, he did to restore the system.  When I get to the second disc, it stops at APP\i386\APP31322.exe and runs over and over again trying to get the file. After a few minutes it will say abandoned or stop or something similar.

I did once and managad to continue with other drives up to the arrival, but when I tried to restart the computer, it says it could not find the operating system and would not start.  I tried again with the same result but this time I can't go beyond disk 2 and it works for a while before getting an abortion without continuing on request. When he finally to have an abortion, it has two options, yes or no.  Which one should I click to bypass this file and continue on?

Then towards the end of disk 5 or 6 it says error2: \preload\windows w32 missing and later, it says error 2:\C:\windows\cache\mbr.dll missing.  Maybe that's why it wouldn't start when it ended.  These are on CD - R discs, so I can't change all the files or change them, do you have any idea what I can do about it.

I just install windows home edition from a cd of windows but it does not install the compaq drivers and, even if it starts successfully, if I restart it will lose all the necessary drivers for the video card and network etc, so that it operated on 16 colors and does not connect to the internet.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you, Allan

    Allen,

Just follow what Paul said of the to do and everything should be OK.

If you still want to try the recovery disks, make sure that they are free of scratches, grease and finger prints. Who can help solve the difficulties of the disc to these problem spots. (Not recommended, but I found that using a very soft automotive polishing compound that is approved for use on plastic/plexiglas works well to clean a CD or DVD)

    Hello

    ·         Will there be any changes made before this problem?

Step 1: Disconnect all external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) drives, etc...) Except the keyboard and mouse and then start.

If this solves the problem, then add back devices at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue. Then get any drivers\software update for the device.

Step 2: Check the hard disk for errors.

    Follow the steps in http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Check-your-hard-disk-for-errors
