Recovery from a backup made in the database of Sun Solaris 10 g on a windows 2008

Hi, I took a backup of a database on a solaris 10 machine. (solaris 10.2.0.4 database sparq x 64) with this script:

Configure controlfile autobackup

Run {}
backup incremental level 0
format ' ${RMAN_BKP_DIR}/Bkp_%T_Full_%d_%u_%s_%p'}
tag Full_bkp
database;
current backup controlfile as ' ${RMAN_BKP_DIR}/Bkp_%T_ctl_%d_%u_%s_%p';}
}

After I transferred the files by FTP on my machine Windows Server 2008 64 bit on the witch I already created a database (10.2.0.4 x 64) with DBCA. Now I want to recover the controlfile and here is what I get:

RMAN > RESTORE CONTROLFILE to 'E:\oracle\10.2.0\oradata\WAGNER\controlCORP01.ctl '.
from "E:\fichiers\Bkp_20090527_ctl_CORP_c0kg2e66_384_1"

From restoration to 27 May 09
using the control file of the target instead of recovery catalog database
allocated channel: ORA_DISK_1
channel ORA_DISK_1: sid = 156 devtype = DISK

Can you help me on this?

Thank you

Hi again!

I don't know it. Try the following query and you will see information about the endian format.

    I was not able to complete the full implementation of the solution Dell Direct USB key due to various problems.  .    Dell ended up sending me a new Windows 7 HARD disk image.   I have now the laptop up and running again with Windows 7 and have various applications installed.   That's all pretty well.  But now how do I get my data files restored?   Basically, I want to connect the external drive to backup and complete step 19 of the solution, as described below.

    Here are the steps OS using the Dell USB key:

    1. Boot from the Direct USB Key by tapping F12 at the Dell logo, then select the
    USB Memory Key option from the boot device menu.

    2. Accept the Dell End User License Agreement (EULA) by clicking the box next to
    Accept, scroll down till the end of the license agreement and then click on
    continue.

    3. On this screen, the usb key gives an overview of the process it is about to
    perform, click continue when ready to proceed.

    4. The Smart Repair solution runs a surface scan on the system to identify any
    errors with the boot record or the startup files. If any errors are found, they
    are automatically corrected.

    5. Once the process completes, there will be an analysis summary, in this case,
    there is no issue found by the smart repair, click continue.

    6. In this window the user can select what data they would like to back up, they
    can either go with the default backup solution or they can click select more to
    select more files for backup, click continue after selecting files for backup.

    7. If user clicks on select more, they will get the screen below, they can go
    ahead and select the necessary data for backup by checking the box next to the
    respective folder, sub-directories are selected by default once the root folder
    is selected.

    8. The user will be prompted to attach a USB hard drive to the system, user
    needs to connect the USB Hard drive at this point and click continue.

    9. Once the solution detects the USB hard drive , it goes ahead with file
    backup.

    10. Once the files are backed up, the solution will back up the user personal
    settings.

    11. The Direct USB Key displays a summary of the data and personal settings
    backup. Click continue.

    12. The Direct USB key then proceeds to install the operating system image on
    the system.

    13. Once the operating system image is transferred, the drivers are also
    transferred.

    14. After the operating system image and driver transfer, a summary page comes
    up giving the user information as to what process was performed successfully and
    what failed. The user needs to remove the USB key at this point and click
    restart.

    15. The system restarts and comes to a flash screen on recovery and restore.

    16. After the flash screen, the applications start installing.

    17. Once the applications are installed, the user would see a summary screen
    informing them that the Operating system has been restored, connect the Direct
    USB Key and click restart.

    18. After the restart the user will be prompted to connect the data backup hard
    drive and then click continue.

    19. The files and personal settings are then restored from the USB backup drive.

    20. After the files are transferred the system comes to the desktop with a pop
    up window informing the user to check the device manager for any exclamation
    marks, the tool also guides the user to download the drivers from the support
    site and the applications from My Dell Downloads and Dell Digital Delivery. User
    needs to select the check box to prevent the message from being displayed again
    and click close.

    All, I finally managed to replace the version of R R & on the Master Boot Record.

    First, I started with a R boot drive at & R.  You can either use one you did with R & R when (if) you put always a full backup on CD (which I do every year), or the startup disk (a, a) that Lenovo is sent to you with the 7 product Recovery CD, you can restore your PC to specifically state that you received from the factory or store (if you have purchased again).

    R & R starts automatically on startup with the version of R CD R & makes the startup disk (be it when you or Lenovo is the startup disk.)

    My experience is that after you start with this CD, I shut down R & R normally, then restarted the computer by using the MBR (pushing the Thinkvantage or F11 key at the beginning in the trunk) and voila - it starts with the same version that you started with the CD in the last step.

    I also discovered that if you use R & R to restore to a time when the Version of R & R was different from what is working on the MBR, which also change the MBR.  Again, both are good information that will certainly be useful trivia some time.

    Thanks again to all who jumped and provided information that ultimatelly led to the solution

    Hi Davey5852,

    ·         What program did you use on Windows XP to back up files?

    If you use NT backup: backup the files in Windows XP, then you will need to download and install the Windows NT backup - restore utility to restore the backup created with Windows XP.

  • Catalog vs controlfile recovery... ID of the database

    Oracle 11 g 2 Linux RHEL6

    I was wondering why recovery catalog will allow you to store backups of databases have the same DBID, but will the controlfile?

    I mean it makes sense why recovery catalog gives you the ' RMAN-20004: name of the target database does not match the name in the recovery catalog ' error in the case, but why the controlfile has no problem with that?

    I was wondering.

    Thank you.

    OK;

    Think of the global catalog database and the local clone database control file. As the control file is local to the clone database it can store information it wishes to without conflict.

    Control of the clone database file is private to this base, the DBID can be the same without conflict.

    The catalog database is not private, so a DBID duplicate is a conflict. (Public to other databases in your system)

    Who help me?

    Thank you.

    Yes, you can restore and recover the backup, but not at the moment. You will only be able to restore and recover at the time of your backup.

    For example.

    If you take backup (mount point with no mode of journal archive) at 06:00 and your grave database crashes at 21:00, you will be able to restore and recover until 06:00. You will find all the changes made to the database between 06:00 and 21:00.

    If you want your database to recover until 9 PM or until a point in time, then you must put your database in log mode archive, and then save the archives.
