How to install WHO 10 g 5 on RH5?Subject: Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Certification Checker
DOC - ID: 412431.1
said that the WHO 10 g 5 is supported on Linux x 86 RHEL 3.0, 4.0, 5.0.
Downloads to install only have a fix for 10g 5 installer:
http://www.Oracle.com/technology/software/products/OEM/index.html
It looks at 10.2.0.1 Basic installation:
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10 g Grid Control Release 2 (10.2.0.1) for Linux x 86
This installer 'Oracle Universal Installer, Version 10.2.0.1.0 Production' chokes on RH5 software config. How do you get from point a to point b?

How to create the dual boot with Red Hat Linux and Vista on Satellite A200
Hi all!
I have a Satellite A200 pre-installed with vista home premium and I would install another OS that is Red Hat Linux Fedora Core 7.
Can someone advice me how do? I'll be very grateful to receive your answers. Thanks again!Well, I put t use this Linux distro on my laptop but I used the Knoppix Live CD and it was very easy.
It was not necessary to install anything. I simply booted from the Live CD and I could use the full Linux operating system. So, it might be better to use this Linux live CD instead of the complete installation.
I think that the main problem would be available to the driver.
The fact is that Toshiba does not support Linux on laptops and so Linux drivers are not available. -
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 operating instructions
I only managed to get installed DAQmx and running RHEL 5 and I wanted to put the instructions here in the hopes that I could save someone else a large part of the time.
First of all, I want to thank all who have contributed to the forums OR regarding the DAQmx Linux software installation. Most of the information contained in this how-to came directly from these two positions: Fedora Core 6 How-to and Fedora Core 5 - kernel 2.6.20 - 1.5 NATION howto
A special thanks goes to ninevoltz, who took the time to understand apparently most of this stuff on and even pushed back the developers of the core on the limitation of length of symbol of modpost.
Here are the steps I took when installing a PCIe-6259 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 2.6.18 - 53.1.19.el5 kernel:
- Add UTS_RELEASE to the version.h file
- CD /lib/modules/2.6.18-53.1.19.el5/source/include/linux
- CP version.h.dist version.h
- Cat utsrelease.h version.h.dist > version.h
- Create a link to asm_offsets.h with an underscore in its name
- CD /lib/modules/2.6.18-53.1.19.el5/source/include/asm
- ln s asm - offsets.h asm_offsets.h
- Modify the application of modpost to accept names of symbol more of 500 characters
- CD /lib/modules/2.6.18-53.1.19.el5/source/scripts/mod
- CP modpost.c modpost.c.dist
- Change the line 1116 '#define SZ 500' to '#define SZ 1024 "
- CD /lib/modules/2.6.18-53.1.19.el5/source
- do (Note: this will fail, but will get far enough to rebuild the modpost program.)
- Download ni.com NIDAQ800_RedHat.iso and install it
- Mount-o loop/mnt NIDAQ800_RedHat.iso
- CD/MNT
- . / INSTALL
- CD
- umount/MNT
- Remove the packages OR rusted, installed by NIDAQ800_RedHat.iso
- rpm - e - nodeps nipali Edward nipxirmi niorbi nidimi
- Download NI-VISA - 4.3.0.iso to ni.com and install it
- Mount-o loop/mnt NI-VISA - 4.3.0.iso
- CD/MNT
- . / INSTALL
- CD
- umount/MNT
- Recompile the kernel modules OR
- / usr/local/bin/updateNIDrivers
- reset
This procedure worked great on my system, I was still able to run the application/usr/local/bin/DAQmxTestPanels successfully. I had read that others had to wrestle with some MesaLib to make it work.
Yes, whoo hoo! And, good luck.

Oracle Linux (Red Hat) on 14 t Envy Touchsmart
I am looking for a compact machine to install Oracle Linux (based on RHEL)
for purposes of development.
The 14 t Envy Touchsmart ticked all my boxes (with the exception of the touchscreen) and I'm
a point where I am seriously considering this machine. I checked the recommended
material on Red Hat ( https://hardware.redhat.com ) that lists several HP machines,
who did not understand the desire, but I was wondering if there is a significant difference
prohibiting the RHEL running on the machine of envy from the officially
support of the HP machines.
I understand that RHEL is through a thorough process and some materials may
do not be taken in charge yet, but I'm ready to compile and install all the required drivers and
swap the minor components of the material if necessary.
Essentially, what are the problems that I'm likely to expect in terms of compatibility of equipment?
A.
Well, never mind.
I'll just take the EliteBook 840.

Error: "FATAL: oracleasm Module not found" in Red Hat 6
Hi all:
... OS: Red Hat 6.5 (64-bit)
I am preparing to install a 12 c CARS in a Red Hat 6.5. When you configure the ASMLib, I got the following error when executing "/ usr/sbin/oracleasm init:
2 May 18:23:20 oraprd01 modprobe: FATAL: Module not found oracleasm.
I configure YUM Oracle filing and the package installed the "kmod-oracleasm. And in the link (Oracle ASMLib downloads for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6) I got the packages 'oracleasmlib' and 'oracleasm-support', as you can see below:
[root@oraprd01 binarios] # rpm - qa | grep oracleasm-i
kmod-oracleasm - 2.0.8 - 4.el6_6.x86_64
oracleasm-support - 2.1.8 - 1.el6.x86_64
oracleasmlib - 2.0.4 - 1.el6.x86_64
My kernel is:
2.6.32 - 431.el6.x86_64 oraprd01 Linux #1 SMP Sun Nov 10 22:19:54 IS 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
My version of Red Hat is:
[root@oraprd01 binarios] # cat/etc/redhat-release
Release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6.5 (Santiago)
Why am I the above error while trying the oracleasm module init? WHat am I hurt?
Thanks in advance.
Problem solved.
I installed an earlier version of the kmod-oracleasm (kmod-oracleasm - 2.0.6.rh1 - 3.el6_5.x86_64) downloaded from the customer portal of Red Hat. Now the ASM is responsible.

Oracle ASM 11.2.0.1.0 on Linux 6.5 (Red Hat)
Can someone point me to a doc that says that Oracle ASM 11.2.0.1.0 is NOT supported on Linux (Red Hat) 6.5? I looked and looked, but can't this particular doc.
Is Oracle ASM 11.2.0.4 supported Linux (Red Hat) 6.5?
Thanks for your help.
Hello
Thanks for your reply. I'm not an Oracle client. I'm just a student, try to install it and learn Oracle.
In this case I suggest you use 11.2.0.1 database on OEL 5.7/5.8

Installation tools in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 64 - Bit vmware
Hello
I just want to install vmware tools in a VM for 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 a RPM.
I don't want to install the kernel and CCG files, sort of compilation was released, unless I absolutely have to do.
It is a small database server footprint. X - Window is not installed. Perl is installed.
Here is the list of packages to choose from.
http://packages.VMware.com/tools/ESX/5.1/rhel6/x86_64/index.html
I read the Setup Guide for VMWare tools for OSSP documentation (specifically the table 2-7) and the package base looks like that's what I need, but I don't know which one to choose.
Should which package I install?
Thank you!
Linux is not windows. Libraries are necessary because these tools and programs were designed to use libraries that were not installed with the operating system. The instructions are VERY specific, they give you a step by step to install, if the base packages are needed you can simply guess or assume are not necessary.
FOLLOW the instructions, that is what they are there for, is not serious if YOU think they aren't necessary, they are required, if the instructions to install VMtools say that they are required.

Welcome to the community,
I can't tell you if it's possible at all to run PHEVS as a virtual machine. However, I am sure that you can do this with the current Core 2 CPU, because it is unfortunately not charge EPT (see, for example, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_Page_Table)

ORA-01017: OS authentication on Linux Red Hat 6.2 and Oracle 11 g 2
Hello
I try to rockers of authentication OS on Oracle installed 11.2.0.3 on a Red Hat Linux Server 6.2 and it just doesn't work. When I try to connect I always get the error ORA-01017: name of user and password invalid. connection refused
I put the following Oracle parameters:
REMOTE_OS_AUTHENT = TRUE
os_authent_prefix = OPS$
and I created a linux 'oracle' user and the Oracle user "OPS$ oracle."
I know that the setting of remote_os_authent in 11g is depricated but I thought that it should still work, just an error messages takes place so I start the database, but it works as usual, only the authentication of the BONE doesn't seem to work.
Does anyone know where would be the problem?
Oracle said that remote_os_authent is depricated because it's risky, I know, but my database is in a secure environment without any internet connection. What other way is there without using remote_os_authent?
Thank you very much for your help.

Removal of Red Hat repository fixes
I don't have any Linux VM and so would remove the VUM repository Red Hat patches. Is there a way to do this?
You don't have in your inventory. VUM can only analyze linux VM and tell you which patches you need for linux... it will not download or install. The only thing that there is an xml file that contains the data to fix.
