  You can create a DBCA model for the existing database, copy the template on the target server files and create the database by using the same model. Another option is to use Datapump Metadata_only.

  My current employer has a pre-production environment that is being updated nightly from the production. I started to look at how it is done (powerCLI script) and I'm trying to make things better.

  Here's how it works.

  A snapshot is taken of production servers, which 'freeze' the base vmdk disk. A new virtual machine is created for pre-production and it uses the 'frozen' drive to the production server database, because it is not persistent mode, clean disc. Of course, the virtual machine is connected to a group of isolated ports. Basically, this allows the team dev/infra to have an identical copy of the production servers anytime (just run the refresh script).

  While this works very well, I have a problem on using disks of production for this purpose. Usually, I prefer to leave only one production and complete clones have either fully provisioned pre-production environment.

  Suppose I'm onboard with happens like that and I want to automate the creation of these reservoirs of pre-production. Right now they are built manually to the new servers, and then the refresh script.

  Refresh the script:

  (A) pre-production shutdown server

  (B) remove the snapshot on the production server (committing the latest changes to the base vmdk)

  (C) create new snapshot to the production server (freeze the base vmdk)

  (D) Power Server pre-production (with validated changes)

  
  This script is scheduled every night to start the next day with a cool environment. Another advantage of this approach that is not persistent, it is that a simple reboot brings the pre-production back to a clean version (if tests are not doing well).

  Issues related to the:

  Is there a way to clone a virtual machine without the disc? This would make the easy creation of new servers in pre-production. Clone, log drives, change the port group. Fact.

  Is there a better way to achieve that kind of result without this kind of 'false linked clones?

  The following seems to work for me. A few notes:

  • The virtual machine is cloned without any of its VMDK
  • The new virtual machine is created on the same node of ESXi and store data as a source of VM (since you don't seem to have special requirements in this aspect)
  • This script does not work for a virtual computer with RDM disks

  I have a HP - UX 11i production database. The database is the CARS with 3 instances. The storage is on ASM. Recently, we have created a database of pre-production for tests on RedHat Linux 4 worm. Here are the details of the environment 2:
  
  Production: HP - UX 11i, 24 GB of RAM, 8 CPU, Oracle 10g R2
  
  Pre-production: RED HAT ver 4, 16 GB RAM, 4 CPUS, Oracle 10 g R2
  
  Basically everything in creation the two environment are not identical configuration. Now, I need to bring to the pre-production environment in harmony with the environment of Production from the point of view oracle init parameter. I have listed down below below the parameters that is different. Please tell me how many of these parameters can be bring in sync. Setting shmmax doesn't set on the two core area is 4 GB.

  NOTE: You must be a query V$ PARAMETER ISDEFAULT = "FALSE" only to identify the paraemters which are or have to be defined.
  You must identify these paraemters which are explicitly defined by the DBA, rather automatically determined by Oracle.

  1. you do not explicitly set or change cpu_count. Let Oracle automatically set it based on the number of processors / cores he sees as being available. (if you have multiple instances of database on the same server, each instance will 'see' the same number of processors / cores)

  2 cursor_sharing must always be the same development, pre-production and Production. However, I would first of all ask allows you to determine why it has been set by the dint of Production. That must be done only after careful consideration and test!

  3 db_recovery_dest_file size is relevant for backups RMAN identified by db_recovery_dest disk space. If it is not relevant to this discussion.

  4 dml_locks, sessions, transactions, etc. are all automatically determined by Oracle based on the PROCESS.

  5 fast_start_parallel_rollback is irrelevant. I wonder why it has been explicitly defined?

  6 filesystemio_options really depends on your platform. HP - UX 11i and Redhat Linux are very different.

  7 are defined explicitly large_pool_size and log_buffer? Or they remain to be determined automatically by Oracle based on other parameters (SGA_TARGET for example)?

  8 open_cursors, generally not be set unless you have an application that really opens up very many cursors by session. Why is defined differently? It is a per session setting.

  9. I suppose that parallel_max_servers is not explicitly defined, but remains to be determined by Oracle based on other parameters (for example cpu_count).

  10. I wonder if parallel_execution_message_size has been explicitly defined or is automatically defined by Oracle and OS dependent.

  11 pga_aggregate_target would have explicitly set the appropriate value based on your hardware and its use must be determined.

  12 session_cached_cursors generally didn't need to be explicitly defined. If it is set, why he is set on these different values?

  13. Why is SQL92_SECURITY explicitly different?

  14 standby_file_management is not relevant here.

  15 undo_retention could be about the same.

  Your REAL concern should be the values defined for CURSOR_SHARING and SQL92_SECURITY. These are the only ones who are really identical in both environments. The others are "setting buttons" while these "fix"behavior ".

  I live in England and I need to buy an Alienware 17 High Spec model with Windows 7 Pre - installed.

  There might be a straight forward application but is not only everything I keep being told its only available with 8.1 is o/s.

  I checked on the web site of the United Kingdom and there under the heading:-features & Design

  Available with Windows 7 Home Premium - for a smooth and flexible PC experience.

  Can someone please confirm that this computer is available with 7 o/s or it is not can you please remove the ad as its very confusing.

  In reading the other topics on this forum its very clear that this is not a simple re install with 7 o/s and not the kind of thing you do when you buy a new computer.

  This computer is not for domestic use and is to be used on board the ship have been around computers run 7 o/s.

After you have started without stops/heat and strong Buzz you decide after remote service you must replace this ASAP.  I was told that it would be provided in 3-4 days.  I have explained each time I spoke with your customer service and explained at the time was a cause and every time they told me you were building it yet.  really? How long does take to build a laptop.

  I am going through a nightmare, dealing with Support technique Alienware.  It's happened more than a month and a half.  I buy a x 51 desktop and the wireless always falls or can't find my network, after 5 minutes.  I call the Technology Department and they have deleted my drivers and could not solve the problem. I had to send my x 51 with Dell and I had to appeal to them, because I've never heard of them.  Every time I called someone would tell me something and never would.  I even spoke to supervisors.  They finally replaced the x 51, but as soon as I got it.  The same thing happened with the wireless connection.  I called back to tried to talk to a Manager and the REP said that he would call me the next day.  3 days later, no call.

  It seems, that they don't care.  I tried to speak to a customer care person and he would not try to help me, either.  He has just transferred back me to the assistance service (very roughly).  I'm trying to be really patient, but I don't know what else to do.

  Is anyone know an address or a phone number that I can call?  I would like to report to Better Business? *

  BTW, I still have warranty.

  Hello

  I tried to update my bios version. Started with A01 and A02 and A03, then update all very well.

  When I then tried to update A03, A06 something has gone wrong. After the system is restarted, it does nothing more. No lights turn on, my screen remains black, my keyboard does not. Only sign of life is the fans making a soft noise.

  Can someone help me with what to do upon returning to life?

  Hi, I was watching and thinking about buying an alienware alpha, but I had a few 1 questions that I can't find any info on. So could someone please help.

  1st question and that is my main I need to know, can I run Ventrilo on it and play all the games at the same time or would I still need a laptop to use ventrilo to chat with friends?

  2nd video of question 1, I saw said that I could run non-steam game, is it true? I will mainly play steam games, but I want to just make sure I could still run games as League of legends and perhaps The Elder Scrolls online because he is going to play soon from what I've heard.

  3rd question and sorry about that one, but I don't know much about computers so I need to ask. I see that $700 and $850 versions have higher processors makes this mean for games? Also they have more big disks hard, it's just the space right storage? Sorry for this question, that I just want to ask before you buy

  I ordered an alienware 17 only the SSD updated 09/12/2015 and it sees EDD 10/14/2015.

  Real status is always pre production. I know that Intel has launched a new i7 chip but I want it to be as soon as possible, at least within 15-20 days the site says (if purchased).

  Can someone take a look and give me more information about the condition of the parts and so forth?

• Upgrade from Siebel 8.1 Production & Data Guard

  We will have new material available for Siebel upgrade 8.x pre-production several months in advance. This material will be the same of prodcution with regard to size. We plan to use 'DataGuard' for Siebel 77 DB (2.5 to) replication on the new Siebel 8 DB pre-production server. My requirement is to have minimal downtime!
  
  I'm thinking next steps upgrade before the deployment weekend.
  1. take cold Siebel 77 PROD DB Backup
  2 database copy 77 PROD to the new pre-production Siebel 8 DB
  3. install and gateway of Siebel server, server Siebel, Siebel utility of database server and the Siebel web server extensions
  4. install the database schema and seeds
  5 import the new repository of Siebel 8
  6 test the application
  7 stop Siebel application and get ready for deployment to production
  
  Deployment weekend production steps:
  1. stop Siebel 77 application and DB
  2. start Siebel 77 DB data replication in the new Siebel 8 DB
  3. after the replication is complete, start Siebel 8 application.
  
  Can one that the steps above from the end of week of the production deployment might work, which means "DataGuard" replication to keep my DB Upgrade from Siebel 8 intact and wipe it away? I try to avoid the installation/configuration/upgrade to level the application during the deployment weekend.
  
  I'm lost and confused on how the upgrade of production will work. I have read several messages online, upgrade guides and haven't met good information/help for upgrade of production, all the support, the items are for the modernization of development environments!
  
  Please note that the 'Golden Gate' is not an option, do not have a budget for that!

  Now that you have added the stages of the upgrade, it is logical but there is no doubt some additional steps are required as you progress...

  regarding the statement:

  It might indeed and this could also be done on a copy of your development DB Upgrade environment. Siebel installation is not dependent on your DB, but there are some entries in your DB, which can be Siebel specific server, look at the guide for the copy of production if you don't understand what I mean. Restoration of Production environments in the Test [477772.1 ID] environments. If you move servers during the upgrade this guide will give you some tips too to areas that you need to consider.

  Can anyone recommend any software production management? What do you use? I did a google search and I come up with some results of calendar, but nothing that evolving upward to our needs.

  What we seek is the possibility of:

  1. Manage the start of filming Dates
  2. Manage the end of filming Dates
  3. Manage the how long it will take for the (current) edition
     
  4. The steps for editing. eg Pre-production (rental) > Shooting > Rough cut screening > investor screening > compile > dubs > master the delivery.

  I have attached a file for you guys to show what we are getting. The idea of the software is to make our society more efficient, with little or no down time, this also will make us all responsible for our work.

  I have about 500 huge data main tables in my database of pre production. I have an environment to test with the same structure of old masters. This test environment have already old copy of main tables production. I take the dump file from pre production environment with data from last week. old data from the main table are not necessary that these data are already available in my test environment. And also I don't need to take all the tables of pre production. only the main tables have to do with last week data.

  How can I take partial data masters pre prodcution database tables?  and how do I import only the new record in the test database.

  I use orders EXP and IMP. But I don't see the option to take partial data. Please advice.

  For the first part of it - the paintings of masters just want to - use datapump with a request to just extract the tables - see example below (you're on v10, so it is possible)

  However - you should be able to get a list of master tables in a single select statement - is it possible?

  For the second part - are you able to qrite a query live each main table for you show the changed rows? If you can not write a query to do this, then you won't be able to use datapump to extract only changed lines.

  Normally I would just extract all the paintings of masters completely and refresh all...
