(Redirected) Samsung 850 250 GB SSD in Area 51 compatible mSATA?

Hello

I recently bought Area 51. I have not installed SSD drive. so, I bought Samsung 850 mSATA SSD 250GB. I know that I bought a fake. But anyway, I bought a converter and then installed the hardware.

That is the problem. I can see it in the BIOS but cannot see anywhere in windows. not Device Manager. It does not show as unallocated.

Can anyone tell please how to make this visible?

  • 30 seconds since the addition of Samsung 250 GB SSD

I added a Samsung EVO 250 GB SSD. Cloned previous boot drive which has a SSD 128 GB using Acronis True Image.

Now, when I start, it sits there for 30 seconds flashing hard drive then boot normally. All BIOS settings are default.

    Lenovo IdeaCenter K450

Intel i7 Gen 4, 16 GB of ram

Bootign of the 128 GB SSD was fine, not obvious delays.

Any idea of what this could be the cause?

I found the problem. I was about to reinstall the software from Samsung that came with the SSD, but when the optical drive does not open. I rebooted and you press the Open button while starting, and it came quickly, even if the player still does not open.

Stop and checked the cable and power connector. They "seemed" very well, but now it starts normally and I can open the player. Problem must have been a timeout in the BIOS when he was looking for bootable devices. I have the optical drive in the boot selection list.

    Thank you for your assistance.

The system seems to hang mysteriously every two weeks. It restarts every time login screen. I tried to run DiskWarrior 5.0 on the system, but it doesn't seem to help.

I've been thinking out the disc and its replacement with an OWC (mercury Accelsior E2) or a conventional hard drive. Another option could be upgraded to the latest OS X Server 5.0.3.

The panic occurred because the queue of the AHCI is truncated. Thus all things SATA are immediately suspect.

These extensions on the "scene of the crime" are used ordinary ACHI drivers for SATA drive.

In your added kernel extensions, you have an additional driver for RocketRAID. If possible, you should remove only while debugging this problem. It was not explicitly on the "crime scene", but it may have made changes that caused the instability.

In addition, readers could be involved in this problem, as a failed drive can spray data in the wrong section of memory, rewrite of things.

  • EliteBook 850 G1: Elitebook 850 G1 and Samsung 850 PRO 512 GB SSD

    Hello

I recently bought a new Elitebook 850 G1 a retailer authorized HP here in Germany. It turns out be a very fine machine so far.

Just a little thing I noticed is the following:

I exchanged the original 250 GB SSD (A Samsung 840) supplied with the notebook for a Samsung 850 PRO 512 GB SSD.

It made me lose the UEFI chart UI system diagnosis. Only the base system diagnostics are available (similar to BACK black and white screen).

Apparently BIOS EliteBook doesn't "recognize" the PRO 850 as supported even if the player works absolutely fine in laptop computer, running a new installation of Windows Pro 64 bit smoothly 8.1.

Is there some sort of whitelist of device in the BIOS? Is it possible to get other permutation Diagnostics advanced system back to the original SSD? Maybe some update BIOS?

Already, I run the latest BIOS of G1 EliteBook 850 as available by HP driver and download Web site.

Not that this is a crucial issue given that the laptop works well, but it's kind of worries me nonetheless.

    Thanks for responding.

Diagnostics UEFI advanced is actually contained in a service partition on the hard drive so unless you cloned all partitions on the old disk you may have failed. Fortunately, it can be downloaded and installed on the hard drive or you can even make a thumb drive bootable UEFI.

  • connection with a 1 TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD HD problems

I recently bought 4 Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB SSDS that are recommended by Convergent design to be used with an Odyssey 7 q + VCR. In order to get the images on the timeline of Final Cut, I put on a SATA Adapter USB 3 SSD drives (mine is powered) and use software, once the disc appears on the Finder. Problem is that none of these Samsung 850 EVO appear on the finder. I checked my SATA USB adapter by plugging another brand of SSD drive. It works perfectly.

Could someone help me with this issue? With a price of around $450, I don't really want these SSD drives to put useless due to a problem of Apple...

I even tried to force allow the filling with this command: 'sudo trimforce enable', not work.

  • Slow writes PERC H700 and Samsung 850 PRO SSD

I saw several posts about this, but don't see a solution.

I have a few servers R710 with H700 controllers. I have installed Samsung 1 TB SSD Pro 850 and see writing very slow compared to other performance SSD tested in one box, simply slow in general. SAMSUNG SSD are ~ 500 MB/s in both sense when connected to the stand-alone desktop computer, but ~ 500 MB/s read and ~ 45 MB/s, writes when it is connected to a server.

    1. 1 x SSD in RAID 0 - no redundancy, just to test the performance. I tried all combinations of memory cache writeback and read before possible setting (enabled, disabled) and has never had more than ~ 45 MB/s, writing.

    2. 6 x SSD in RAID 5 with all possible combinations of never getting write cache over ~ 110 MB/s, writing.

    3. 6 x SSD in RAID 10 yet one time all possible settings of the writeback cache - ~ 140 MB/s.

Finally, I installed 120 GB Intel SSD and got more than 400 Mbps in both directions without worrying about the RAID or cached.

What is the problem with the H700 and Samsung SSD controllers? No one knows how to fix?

Any other R710 compatible controller, which do not have this problem? Might be able, JBOD? I also tried a stop the controller PCIe Board without a bit of luck (bottom of basket or any compatibility issues)

    Thanks in advance.

    P. S.

The controller is a latest firmware and the BIOS and other components. Used Dell Repository Manager iDRAC discovery and the ISO bootable to update everything.

SAMSUNG SSD are on a latest firmware as well.

    Hello.

The Samsung 850 Pro SSD are not validated or certified to work with controllers from Dell, and as such, there is an incompatibility of communication between readers and the controller at the firmware level. Thus, you are required to achieve the unexpected poor read and write performance regardless of the controller cache settings. Consider using Dell certified readers.

    Thank you.

Yes the DV6000 by DV6499 series with AMD processor is not able to support an SSD. The storage controller uses a SATA interface, but it is 'false' SATA running on a legacy IDE bus. No ahci, which is necessary for the operation of the SSD. That's why we put Windows XP on them without any special driver tips during installation.

  • Dell Latitude e5440 - Samsung 850 EVO mSATA SSD not recognized

I bought a new 500 GB Samsung 850 EVO mSATA SSD for my Dell Latitude e5440 (running Windows 7 Pro).  The new player was not visible in 'Computer', so I downloaded, installed and ran the software Samsung magician.

Samsung software shows that the drive is present.  And there is a button "Validate" - I clicked on - and now: ' Drive Health Status: Good ' and ' serial number: true "appears.

However, the SSD is not visible when I double-click on computer and the Samsung software States:

    a. "AHCI Mode. Disabled (IDE or RAID).  AHCI mode is necessary for the best performance of the SSD. »

    b. SATA Interface s. o. cannot detect SATA interface details.

    c. s. o. OS OS optimization is supported only for disks using an operating system drive.

Question 1: Activation of this AHCI mode will allow Windows to recognize the SSD?

    Question 2: How do I?

Question 3: Activate the AHCI mode "switch off" (logout) my HDD 2.5 "?  (I want to keep Windows 7 to 2.5 "HARD disk and install Windows 10 on the SSD to have a dual boot system, until I got used to Windows 10).

Download and prepare a USB key with a copy of Windows 10 TH2 Pro.

Remove the disk 2.5 "and connect the new drive mSATA.

Boot the system to the USB key.  10 Windows Installer should be of the presence of the DSS and will allow you to do the installation of Windows 10 - which in turn is almost certainly going to install the network driver suitable for your system without the need to add anything else.

USE your 7 product key when prompted and you should be all set.

Once this is done, you can reconnect the disk 2.5 "If you want to do - but remember that 10 installation is done separately from the 2.5 disk".

    Hi csarquiteto,

You will need to format the disk partitions in order to install the operating system. Just follow the detailed instructions in this video , and when you get to the screen that says where you want to install Windows?, select the old partitions and delete them (This erases all data from the partition also), then create a new to complete the installation.

  • Samsung 850 EVO Solid State Drive works only with the MacBook Pro - Solution?

I recently bought a Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB Solid State Drive for mid 2012 MacBook Pro father. The computer was working properly, but it was just very slow. I took the old drive and installed the SSD. I took it to an Apple store so that they could install the OS. A guy at the Genius Bar met with me and first tried to install the OS via the Ethernet cable. It is impossible to install some general error. He then tried to install it on a disc. Which also failed. He said he was not familiar with the type of error that he saw. But he said it was a mistake 'bad '. He said he saw the SSD for my SATA cable worked. He concluded that the reader must be defective. I explained how it is virtually impossible because they have a rate of close to zero. He said: "well they are produced en masse" and explained how they could install a hard drive themselves for some too expensive price. A bit annoying.

In any case, I took the SSD back to my house and threw it in my desktop PC. It works very well. Then what should I do? Why am I not able to get the SSD to install it? From what I read, the Samsung 850 EVO should be compatible with a MacBook Pro 2012. Can I do to install it at home? Is that all I can say people at the Mac store to help them along?

Most likely, the drive is formatted for use with Windows computers. First step would be to format correctly for Macs.

This is Mac OS extended (journaled) with a GUID partition map.

OS X will only be installed on a properly formatted disk.

  • Solid State drive Samsung 850 Pro

I want to add an SSD Samsung 850 Pro for a HP Pavilion Elite e9280t intel i7 - 920 (2.66 ghz, 1 MB L2 + 8 MB of cache shared N3), 2 TB 7200 RPM / min SATA 3 gb/s - two 1 TB hard drives. An SSD will work with my setup?  Thank you Gary

    Hello

The e9280t of HP has only SATA II ports, so all SATA III SSD will not reach its full performance potential.  A more cost-effective alternative is to look at the EVO of 840 Samsung which is very popular in many magazines of the PC industry. I know that the Samsung 840 EVO works on your PC.  Watch a 250 GB or more large model.
