Reference Dell Inspiron 1090 recovery Duo

I've had my Dell for two years now. Recently, I decided that it was time to bring the computer back to the original image. I started using the system restore to create the recovery disk using an external drive from Lite-on. Which went well, twice. Each resource that I saw online says I should press F8 at startup from the BIOS. Well, there's not a F8 on this particular model, just a F2 for boot parameters and F12 for advanced settings. So I tried to boot from my restore disk created. I received an error message indicating that a restore point is not found. Really, a restore point for a recovery disk? That was my thought. Then, I tried to find a reset in the BIOS settings. No chance here no more. Somehow, my computer does not display the recovery partition, but a disk manager. In addition, it has contained many online and technical support to Dell Datasafe Local, but my camera uses Dell Datasafe Online. So, it's a waste. I think that Dell needs to get there directly made online for all models and resources.

I am at a loss, because the next step is either a person with specialized knowledge available here help me, or pay extra for technical support, if I can get my OS (Windows 7 32 bit).

Anyone know wtf I don't properly?

Try the following steps if you are not able to access press the F8 Advanced Boot Options.

  • Start the computer
  • Click the Start button or the button of Windows on the corner of the left side of the screen.
  • In the find programs and files above the Start button, type CMD.
  • Then right-click on CMD in the programs, and then click Run as administrator.
  • Success popup, UAC (User Account Control) would continue.
  • The CMD (command prompt) window will go up.
  • In CMD, type the command REAGENTC /BOOTTORE, (there is a space before the slash) and then press ENTER.

  • Close the CMD (command prompt), then restart the system normally.
  • You would be able to see the screen windows are loading the files.
  • Wait it is System Recovery Options and then click Next.
  • Select your name (user account) in the menu drop-down, enter the password for the connection, and then click ok.
  • You should be able to see the recovery tools.
  • Hit the Dell Factory Image Restore and then follow the steps for PC Restore.

    The backup and restore software would seek similar configuration during the restoration. If the hardware is changed the original image may not work.
