Reformatting of your laptop

Model: dv6t Quad Ed - LM720AV

OS: Windows 7-64 bit

Hi guys, about 6-7 months ago I bought the laptop above.  I was pretty happy with it, except for one thing, because it's a computer of manufactored it came with a lot of additional programs that I have does not need or want.  I would like to reformat and do a clean install only programs I need/want to, but I'm a little worried.  I had no problem in the past with my office, but with this laptop, I'm not sure if there are separate programs that I need in order to make it work (drivers and whatnot for the wireless to work).

My friends, who are the majors of computer science and electrical engineering, said that Windows 7 has arrived to the point that if I just install it and run the update, it will automatically get all the programs I need to power my computer.  Can someone who had more experience with HP please confirm this or recommend a way for me to find the exact programs, I need for my laptop/hardware run?

Thank you!

F11 does not work on startup in the recovery drive now. If you burned the set of recovery disks, start from reinstalling.

If no recovery DVDs was burned, you can try this procedure which has worked for many.

1.right - click on the "Computer" icon and select manage.
2. This will launch the Microsoft Management Console.
3. on the left side of the MMC console, click "Disk management" and it will show you all the partitions.
4. right - click on the "HP Recovery" partition and select "Mark as Partition Active."
5. when the warning message appears, select 'Yes' – Reboot and it will automatically start in the Recovery Manager to reinstall.

Go to the HP support website and search for the latest drivers Windows XP for your specific model number, then what are on the CD when you first bought the laptop. http://welcome.HP.com/country/us/en/support.html

How can you tell if the CD contains the latest drivers. A simple method is to compare the date of your purchase with the date listed on the site of HP drivers. All dated driver after you bought the laptop is more than likely newer than what's on the CD.

If there is recent Windows XP update/more drivers, then download the latest drivers to a folder on your hard drive (create a folder and name itdrivers HP). Then install each beginning driver by the card mother/chipset, SATA, LAN, Audio, drivers, and so on.

If it appears that HP has their website isn't is more recent than what you have on the CD, and then use the CD.

So I erased the hard drive on a Toshiba Satellite a200 laptop class and im trying to reinstall Vista HB (and here, an operating system has been paid for, but also, no disk has been given... Is there a site where I can download a trial version of Vista HB and put the key, or a site that has drivers available for the user to download for free without having to install a bogus program, because they also paid for the drivers in the first place?

    Hey isayuh

There is no sites for free and legal download for vista

Once installed, you can not change the version of vista by changing a product key

you need to reinstall vista correctly

    you get your Toshiba drivers

Click on the download tab in the link and enter your model number

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/home.jsp

I suggest you contact toshiba on the recovery options:

and ask them to send you vista recovery discs

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F10 or F11 or Alt + F10, 0 at startup to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

  • Is this ok to turn off V-sync on your laptop / LCD screen

Is this ok to turn off V-sync on your laptop / LCD screen? I know they have a refresh rate of 60 Hz but it will happen if I turn off the V-Sync? good or bad? I know that nVIDIA recommends turning off V-sync to solve problems of stuttering with their current drivers until the next version of driver that is supposed to be in June, so that's why I want to have an answer of expertise regarding the V-sync on your laptop / LCD screen, how it)

    Hello berryracer,

The V-sync is the vertical sync.

I can't recommend V-Sync by in the game if possible, there not much difference from native or forced, other than forced takes slightly more resources.

In addition, on the Triple Buffering. The triple-buff forced Control Panel works on application based on OpenGL.

If a game has an anti aliasing, anisotropic filtering or any other option in the game its always best to use the set option instead of forcing by the graphics card Control Panel.

Usually turning off V-sync increases the FPS, you can check it out.

    Best regards

  • What is the best for your laptop: shutdown, standby, or hibernation?

    Original title: 'stop'?

What is better for a laptop computer, stop every time, for sleep or Hibernate. It hurt to stop all the time.    Thank you Windows Vista

    Hello

Better to refer to the manufacturer of your system Support, their books online and their
Forums about your model (with a grain of salt), because it will be the difference between the marks
    and even some models.

Usually there is no exact answer but its best not to put the laptop off the coast and back
in a field so it can be avoided. Shut down the computer using also therefore be able to short
periods (several hours) using sleep or Hibernate would better save energy. Also allowing
Cool and heat Electronices frequently is not the best for their long term use and
    life expectancy.

Using power properly Plans with the right parameters of standby and Hibernate, which
depends on how you use the computer, get the best performance and service life
There is however no exact answer. Those who seem to be best for the way you use the
system will probably also be better in the long term. If you "could" set with the magical settings
that could optimize the functions of machinery and life, but then to use the machine in another
model, as we all wish, then in fact you will get actually less usage and life
    If your usage patterns.

One thing that many people forget, is that turn off the screen can also save power when you
you are away a few moments and wouldn't turn the computer off. This will save
some food through the use of a screen saver, but can be difficult to remember and does not record
    A lot.

Check with your manufacturer for system and their forums as your laptop might already have this
    capacity.

  • This Bios is not for your laptop!

First I started having this massage of error at startup 'System Fan (90 b)'

I searched HP's site and found several tips to resolve this.

one of the tips was to check your Bios version and to the most recent update.

    I followed the steps carefully.

1 check my bios version / date.

    2. check my cpu model.

3 open the HP website and let it detect my laptop model (and it does correctly).

    Laptop HP ENVY 14-2136nr
    Model: LM764EA #A2N

    4 select my operating system (Windows 7 X 64)

5 - Check the Bios Driver and download it.

6 - everything seemed perfect and once I try to install the driver I get this massage of error (this bios is not for your laptop!)

    HOW IS IT?

    HI @ibraham-hashem.

I see that you have a laptop of HP ENVY 14-2136nr and that you receive 90b fan error. One of the suggestions is update the BIOS, but when you tried you have received the message that it was not for your laptop.

First of all, I ran the HP Support Assistant to help with updates and solve problems.

Have you checked against viruses and malware?

I try to restore the bios, and then retry the update. Restore the BIOS

If it is not successful, I would go to the bios screen, and when you look down, you should see an option to restore the default values.  Please restore the default values.

Now, try to install the update to the bios.  Updated the BIOS

    I hope this helps.

  • Reduce the heat inside your laptop

How do I reduce the heat inside your laptop

You have games freeze on you while playing?

Windows stops responding to you while working?

Your can hear your fan to activate from your computer?

These are all signs of a bad CPU fan. Being that the laptops was do lighter and more compact, we tend to use in interesting places (on the couch, Starbucks, on our knees, in bed, etc.). These places all may introduce excessive dust or debris in your mouths of notebooks. It is a main culprit on the overheating issues. Leaving your laptop sitting on the floor of carpet is a great way to have it suck the dust on the floor and fill the inside of your computer with it. Have pets? Their hair will always find a way in the vents.

How to clean the ventilation openings:

Compressed air is your friend here. If you frequently work on cars you most likely have an air compressor in the garage. If this isn't the case, you got nothing to worry about. You can find cans of compressed air in your nearby office supply store (Staples, Wal-Mart, Office Depot, etc.). Follow this video on how to make sure your mouths are in the best conditions:
