When you request support, please provide the model name and product number complete (p/n) of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq made thousands of computer models. Without this information, it can be difficult, even impossible to help you solve your problem.

The information requested above are on the side, the bottom or the back of your computer or on the BIOS boot screen. DO NOT include your serial number. Please enter the product/model information consumer HP Online Support page and post it here for our review.

Sorry, but it is unlikely that you will be reimbursed for a valid license of Windows 8 that you purchased with the computers of consumers. If you are buying on behalf of a company, you should be buying computers in classroom business instead. Additionally, as a company, you should consider get a VLK Microsoft for your Windows enterprise needs.

  • Can I reinstall my OS from Windows 7 OEM and reinstall my Windows 8 Pro update the store?

    Hi people,
    Happy holidays!

Ask yourself if you can help me with something... I just got my computer to my new Acer's OEM recovery media and wonder; I wanted to reinstall my original Windows 7 OS came with my computer in order to recover the programs that I've accidentally screwed up and lost during my special upgrade Windows 8 Pro I had when the store was to have the $14.99. I want to know if it is possible for me to re - install all the original media to the new drive and then run the Upgrade Advisor, follow it through, reinstall my Windows 8 Pro by using the product key that I bought at the time? Which will work? I don't have a recovery disk for the Pro Windows 8, just my product key which is saved for me. And no, there is not any Windows.old folder to reinstall the programs of the recovery partition. And no, I don't mean to update my Windows 8 Pro. I'm looking for an easy way to do what I'm not a type of technology! I appreciate all help. Thank you!

    Hello

Yes, you can reinstall Windows 7 using the disc sent by the computer manufacturer. Once Windows 7 is installed, then you can move to Windows 8. Product key Windows 8 will work, and probably you may need to contact the activation of phone to the activation service.

    Thank you.

I'm fed up with the problems resulting from Windows 8.1, for example the program incompatibility, Slow / no response in browsers, particularly IE 11, forced to use touchscreen interface style on conventional monitor and so on and so forth. I have a license of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit for my Dell Vostro laptop. Can I use it on my HP Envy Office 700-329 to replace Windows 8.1?

    Hello:

It is forbidden to transfer the license OEM of Windows or using product key OEM the Dell laptop on HP desktop computer.

Please read the FAQ below... specifically...

    Q. my client bought a new PC and wants to move the OEM software from the old PC to the new. Users cannot do what they want with their software?

    A. no, the OEM software is licensed with the computer on which it was originally installed and system is linked to the original machine. OEM licenses are licenses for single use which cannot be installed on more than one computer system, even if the original machine is no longer in use. The 3668Microsoft Software License Terms, that the end user must accept before using the software, say that the license may not be shared, transferred or used concurrently on different computers. System integrators must provide support to the end user for the Windows license on build computers, they cannot support licenses on computers that they did not build. It is a fundamental reason why an OEM System Builder license cannot be transferred.

  • Can I downgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Windows XP Professional

QUESTIONS: 1) can I demote a machine Win7 Starter purchased through package of retail full license, never installed, XP Pro OS?  Assume that both are 32-bit.  I was thinking of buying one of these netbooks cheap in Walmart stores that are Windows 7 upgrade option to Windows 8 (which I do not wish to use), and experiment.  If Win7 is proving to be as disastrous as I wait, I want to install a new copy of the new detail of full XP Pro including Service Pack 3 (which has never been installed on any computer), to downgrade from Windows 7. I've never used in triplicate.
The machine is Acer Aspire One with Windows 7 Starter edition, on sale at Walmart for only $228.  They have other editions of Windows, I could buy instead, if the Starter Edition is not eligible for a downgrade.
    2) do you anticipate problems of license?  Do not talk about compatibility, as that varies depending on the machine.  It's just that the installation with MS products is always also annoying complicated and always associated with a licensing problem.  I can't guess at what these problems are, they are never what I expect.  Where the question.
Backstory: I am wary of XP Professional updating to Windows 7, due to the many people experience incompatibilities.  I ran the Win7 Upgrade Advisor, and he has not yet detected what third-party software was running on my machine in his analysis, other than common programs of MS and stuff from the internet.  So I have ZERO faith it will be compatible with my XP software current and material, so 32-bit (which I use now), or 64-bit (which one of my machines can take in charge, but instead, 32-bit XP Prof OS is installed and running).
It cost me about $100K of my time to switch to XP, in 2005; I just went through two own XP installed on two of my other machines.  Recovery was not possible.  Cost me three months of my life, these facilities.  Wouldn't do it again.  It is unnecessarily complex.
So I have to check the effectiveness of Win7.  And if she is not enough justify using, as I hope - I have a lot of detail that new (well, once again) never used XP Professional OS bought in a store, that I can use to downgrade.  ("not OEM, not upgrade or academic, etc. so the full XP license is valid for each packet.)  I understand very well that support ends in April 2014 and don't care if it stops.  What I care about is running my business that threatens to Win7, because it changes the interface and eliminates a bunch of features that have been very productive in XP Pro.
Of course, my impressions have not been tested on a live installation.  ERGO this post.  For me, it's a $100,000 decision, because it is the cost of my time if I deploy Win7.  Sorry for ranting, but I need to explain the reasons for downgrading in context.  Thank you for your time!

I guess I do not understand you. If you have a version of Xp retail packaging, you can install it on any computer you want. Nothing MS or anyone else can say about it.

As others have noted you might encounter a driver for some of your hardware problem is not not compatible wth Xp. The only way to know for sure, or I should say the best way, is to install Xp and discover.

If it was me I would make sure that the computer has a restore disk or a partition to reinstall Win 7 if Xp didn't work. If none of those who were present I would clone the drive hard while Win 7 was still about this. Better safe than sorry.

Finally, I would make sure that I got a usb Ethernet card so that you could make sure you have the ability to connect when the net card driver was not installed with Xp...

  • When you try to perform a factory restore I get this error: "could not find"JScript.Encode"script engine: C:\Windows\Help\OEM\scripts\launche.jse.

I'm trying to restore my PC to the preassembled initial state

I followed this as mentioned in the help, but I got this message
    Cannot find "JScript.Encode" script engine

    C:\Windows\Help\OEM\scripts \launche. JSE

    I use windows Vista

So what can I do to restore my system?
waiting for your support with kindness

    Hello

There are two ways to do this.

Most computers these days don't come with recovery discs.

Instead, computer image makers a recovery Partition on the hard drive in order to reinstall the operating system to.

That the recovery process says return to factory (new State) settings

To access the recovery partition, you should be able to find it in the start menu > programs > list of software from the manufacturer of your > search for recovery options.

A simpler method to start the press a key or sequence of keys at startup (when you start your computer)

So maybe F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc. depending on your manufacturer.

You must ask them or online on their website or the Support Forums to know the exact key / s press.

Another method is to ask them to send you a set of recovery discs, which will do the same.

They will charge a small cost for this service.

Back up the data that it will be lost during the recovery process, and all programs that you have installed will need to be reinstalled from the original media (CD, DVD, download Net).

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

    See you soon.

    Hello

    This is not Microsoft

you don't say what the name of the software

and there's an old saying: "buyer beware."

    and read this;

always check the compatibility of vista programs on the link below

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-Vista/default.aspx

If a program is compatible with vista you can try right click on the setup.exe, and then selecting run as administrator

It is not compatible with vista, you can try running it in a previous operating system mode

This does not work for all programs

  • Try to use the System Image to migrate from Windows 7 for SSD for boot upward

    Hello

I have a new computer Windows 7 operting.   I'm trying to migrate my OS to SSD for faster boots, etc..

I first tried various 3rd party applications such as EaseUS Partition Master and Reflect, all futile for unknown reasons.

Now I'm having problems using the built-in tool "Create a System Image" Windows 7.

The Image of the system seems to be created properly and is listed in the appropriate folder.   The next step is to use the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool to save the ISO file, then use this ISO on the DSS file.

Unfortunately, despite all that I've read to the contrary, the file created by windows wasn't an ISO... it saved as a VHD file.   The download tool cannot copy VHD - only ISOs.

Microsoft technical support suggested that I have post the question.   All the patches?

    Thanks in advance!

What happens when you boot the system repair disc?  If necessary, you will need to enter your BIOS Setup utility and make your optical drive the first boot device.

You have created the system image includes everything: the files of your operating system, your application to the program folder and your data.  Assuming that you have already used your system for awhile and so Windows, your installed programs and files total user more than 128 GB, the image does not fit on the SSD.

If everything except your totals of less than 128 GB user files, then a possible scenario would be to backup all your files from user to some external medium data, confirm that the backup is valid, and then delete the files from the current hard drive.  Then make an image of system of what's left (which is now less than 128 GB) and restore that image on the SSD.  You create a new user profile and then copy your files from backup data on disk 1 to and link to your user profile in the user data (see tip below).

Another alternative, especially if you have more than 128 GB used even without your data, is to do a clean Windows 7 on SSD install, reinstall all your application files, specifying as much as possible of the facilities is located on the 1 TB drive and your profile link to the data of the user on the 1 TB drive.

This trick of sevenforums.com can help with the problem of having windows on the SSD and your data on the disk rotation:

If you are simply wanting to save files HARD disk space in your user folders, you might consider this below in order to access the files in your library with the actually located files where you want to place. This way you won't have to worry about the potential problems that come with mobile user folder locations.

To do a clean install of Windows 7 on your SSD, follow the instructions here to get a file ISO of Windows 7 to the same version of Windows 7 that is preinstalled on your computer: https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/67-microsoft-windows-and-office-iso-download-tool burn the image on a DVD (Note: you can not just copy the files, use the built-in tool to burn dvd of Windows 7 or free third-party tool like ImgBurn).  Use the product key from the label on your computer (not the key retrieved by using a key finder program) to activate Windows.  See https://techingiteasy.wordpress.com/2012/04/13/how-to-activate-windows-7-oem-license-using-a-retail-disc/

If this all sounds complicated - it is, and I haven't provided all the details - you can consider getting the help of a local independent computer repair shop (not a chain of stores).  Just make sure you get a real installation of Windows 7.

  • Activate Windows 7 OEM

Hi, we use Dell Optiplex PC brand with Windows 7 Professional (OEM) & Windows XP Professional (OEM) version. We already have PCs 1 817 and per month, to buy about 20 new PC. Now, we are facing a great problem in the activation of Windows 7. I describe the scenario briefly for your understanding:

    1. Since the beginning of the arrival of Windows 7 Professional (OEM) in our Organization, we used a clean install of Windows 7 Professional (OEM) on a PC. As it is an OEM version, the windows are automatically activated. Then, we used 'Acronis True Image Home' to create an image of that installation and used to deploy the other PC.

    2. after a few weeks, we began to face the problem "Windows is not genuine" of some screens PC Windows 7 message "Windows is not genuine".

    3. my question is what is the reason for the problem?

    4. as our windows is OEM (each pc also has a certificate of authenticity), probably no need to install an Activation of Windows Server locally or activate Windows Online uses Microsoft server activation key. Am I wrong?

    5. What are your opinions and suggestions about Windows 7 installation & activation for our Organization?

Please answer me as soon as possible.

The most common cause/remedy for this type of problem is Intel rapid storage drivers.

Certainly, we need to see a MGADiag report among the affected machines.

To analyze and solve problems for Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to the desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
