regarding the connection of the virtual machine to the external network

Hi all

I'm new to vmware and I have two virtual machines with windows operating system 7. How to connect to the external network?
can I assign a NATed IP to them?

If the need to talk about virtual computer internally, you can add all the VM in the same VSS(vswitch 1) at the same port group Network2 VLAN40. for virtual machines on that VLAN can communicate among themselves without problem and configure all virtual machines with IPs in VLAN40. no need for an another vs.

For internet access, first check with your network administrator, if the VLAN has a routing or this VLAN has access to the DNS server that provide internet or the proxy server for internet access. He will confirm. or you can also check if this virtual machine are able to ping your DNS server or proxy servers. If its power of ping so it has access to this network. Configure the virtual machines that you configure a physical computer for internet access.

If the VLAN has access to the internet, even that you configure the physical server with connection DNS and proxy for internet access only the configuraiton even here too in the virtual machine.

    Hello

When you configure the virtual computing, r put his network card to use the host adapter.

In this way, the virtual machine will get the IP address of the router and will basically act as if the Chickadee is an independent computer in the network.

As long as the host computer and the virtual computer on and don't go to sleep, you can connect to each on its own through the network.

    or on the Internet.

  • Unable to connect to MKS: virtual machine configuration file does not exist

    Guys,

Need a little help I'm running the following

    vCenter Server 4.0.0 (build 208111)

    ESX Server 4.0.0 (build 208167)

I have a computer virtual running WIndows 2000 Advanced and when I try and open the console I get a black screen and the error message following

"" Unable to connect to MKS: virtual machine configuration file does not exist '. "

I scoured the data store and all the files of the virtual machine appear to be in place, I thought deletin the virtual machine from the inventory and add the vmdk file, it would be a good idea?

    Thank you.

Remove and add new inventory won't hurt (you could lose data historial for virtual machine), it probably won't solve the problem.

I doubt, it is a problem with the .vmx file, but you can try:

-Remove the VM of the inventory

-To create the new virtual machine (with the same characteristics as the virtual machine that you removed), name it differently and do not add hard drives that it

-Change the new VM settings and add the existing VMDK virtual machine that you deleted

    -Power on VM and try

    • You should always have your complete file to the virtual machine original intact, in case you need, you will always have your original vmx file to add it to the inventory.

By doing these steps you re-create the vmx file.

So, I want to put at the disposal of the thinapps of non-domaine joined Machines on the external network through the workspace. Is this possible?

What I have to be on the local network to download the Thinapp packages, or am I misconfigured? • Failed to create the external network

    Hi all.

Well, I have deployed VIO with NSX. I created 2 virtual machines (instances) with 2 internal networks. I created router, plugged on both networks. Tried to ping of vm1 (int_net1) to the virtual machine 2 (int_net2) through router - everything works fine.

So, the next step was to provide access to Internet of the virtual machines. I try to create the shape of external network Admin-> Control Panel-> network-> network create system:

    Name: extnet1

    Project: MyProject

Type of network provider: dish (deployment master I chose NSX environment and VLANs separated to outside networks)

    Admin State: checked

    External network: checked

When I press the button "Create network" an error has occurred: ""Error: failed to create the extnet1 network '. " How can I create external network?

Thank you all for help. I solved my problem. For the future: you can only use "PortGroup" in Type of network provider. So when I chose PortGroup and set it to the external network 'dvportgroup-XX' have been created.

  • Change the default gateway on the external network

    Hello all,.

    vCloud 5.1.0

I have a vCD external network that is currently in use and I would like to change the default gateway but it is gray with the network mask.

Because this network is used by a direct network defined in OVDC and already in use by VMs, remove, time that the same network with new gw is not an option.

Does anyone know a way to change the front door without removing the external network? ... I wouldn't mind tapping into the basis of vCD (that runs on MSSQL) if someone could provide me with the table where gw is defined.

    Thank you

    PD

Officially, you must delete and re-add.  This has been true for all versions of vCloud Director.

Please understand her below is not officially supported.

If you are looking in the database, it is probably IP_scope you are looking for.  Locate your scope and to update correctly.  If you have multiple scopes that use the same DG, you will not be able to tell which is which unless the DNS entries are unique.  You can temporarily disable the range of IP addresses on the network that will define the column is_enable by 0 (false)... which will make it easier to locate.

  • Connectivity problem of virtual machines the host is rebooted.

We restarted our esxi host and after reboot, we receive questions, with the connectivity of virtual machines hosted on that particular esxi only.

The problem is that some virtual machines communicate on the network and some are not.

There are two hosts in the cluster, if move us the virtual machines on another host, virtual machines are running well.

The host has the same configuration with respect to the physical networking and configuration of virtual networking is concerned.

    ESXi version: 4.1

You mentioned that host network configuration and good host network configuration problem is the same.

Issues appeared after reboot the host, and until the battery has been replaced.

I guess that something is wrong at the physical end itself.

Is that possible, that you can stop the host again and obtain reinstalled network and power it turn it on again and test it.

Because when the battery change is done server is put out of the rack, so I'm assuming that n/w card were not seated correctly. I have faced this kind of problem once and I did the same thing and things worked well for me.

  • Helps the computer virtual using RDP to external network connection

Having a problem that I can't work. ill try to describe the best possible.

    In another place where I am, I have a Pc Win7 Workstation 10, a Server2012 virtual machine.

Virtual network is configured as NAT (that's how I need it to be).

Can't RDP from Win7 computer from desktop to the Server2012 no problem...

I'm not able to Setup is RDPing to my position here, through the router there using IP: port

Ive tried by implementing redirects the port on the router to the virtual computer, but can't make it work.

Anyone know how to get this working?

You have allowed incoming traffic on port tcp 44000 on PC WIN7? Entering rules, any program, 44000, Protocol TCP port destination and source port type everything.

Important can be the source port can be everything. Check it too much on the ROUTER.

Is that you don't have a second PC in your local network connected to the ROUTER? Here, you can test it and exclude from the ROUTER config.

The 'port 44000 shoot' is part of the NAT function on the virtual network of VMware. The important thing is that tcp port 44000 must be authorized in the PC WIN7 firewall.

I don't know for certain that the transposition of the NAT is good, but it would still be possible to run the following on the PC WIN7 cmd session:

    mstsc /v:192.168.1.10:44000

When you try to connect from a MAC client there is need of some more changes on the 2012R2 of Windows Server: could not connect to Windows 2012 R2 overview of the remote desktop for MAC 2.1.1

  • How to access the virtual machines to different physical network?

    Hello

I'm new to ESXi, can someone tell me how can I access virtual machines on the physical network existing in case I use different IP classes? Physics of the network by using the class C IPs and I assigned IPs to virtual machines of class A? If it is possible, then, what are the steps?

In fact, I installed exchange 2010 VMs and also want to access the email accounts of physical network.

    Thank you.

    vmjunki wrote:

You mean there's no way in ESXi to configure the way so we can access the virtual machines to physical network? without third-party applications.

Because it is impossible for the various networks IP connect without a router, you must have such a device. There is really no difference in that in a pure virtual or physical environment.

You might think the ESXi host as a box with one or more servers (virtual) inside and one or more layer (virtual) two switches, just like a small server room. This means you will need to provide the same type of connectivity that you would have to a new server room with machines configured with addresses in a different IP network range.

  • New virtual machine insists on starting network before installation of the OS

I used VMWare ESX, but am relatively new to VMWare workstation and completely new for v6.5.

My host is a new Dell Studio 540 Core 2 Quad, loads of disk space and 6 GB of RAM, host operating system is Vista Home Premium SP1

VMWare Workstation v6.5.2 using build 156735, bought vmware.com online.

The problem I have is that when I create a virtual machine and try to install XP Pro, he insists on trying to boot from the network.

    Start-up of AMD Am79C970A NET
    & lt; copyright info & gt;
    CLIENT MAC ADDR: 00 0c 29 5th C0 E4 GUID: & lt; GUID follows & gt;
PXE - E53: no boot file received
SME - M0F: Exit Intex PXE ROM
    Operating system not found

I confirmed that the NETWORK adapter in the virtual machine has two 'connected' and ' connect at power on "checked.

I tried to get into the BIOS, the CD is the first in the list, the & lt; SHIFT + 1 & gt; instructions to disable the network boot option does nothing.

I'm tempted by using two physical media in the CD player a .iso, no luck.

Can someone tell me where I'm wrong here?  Hope I've provided enough information.

    Thank you

Happy that you guessed it sorted.

  • Unable to connect to a virtual machine

We will respond on the basis of your right to support. «and what comes immediately after is "power error: cannot find a valid peers to connect to.»

If you want to know how it (possibly) happened, I put my Virtual Machine in a suspended state, but he took a while to make my computer shifted so I just shut down my computer and it's been like that since. All other virtual machines that I played.

This could is related to a corrupted file .vmss in the folder of the virtual machine. The .vmss file stores the information of the previous day and due to the closure may not have been written correctly. Try to remove/rename the file .vmss to see if this allows you to turn on the virtual computer.

If this does not work, please report (attached) latest vmware.log in your next post the VM.

  • Losing network connectivity in Windows virtual machines

We have a problem with Windows VM where they lose network connectivity after being inactive for some time.  After you go in vcenter server and log in to the virtual machines, they begin to respond to pings again.  For any reason but after they are inactive for a period of time, they stop responding to pings, which means that you will have to return in vcenter server and log, and then their network connectivity is restored.  I was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem or have any suggestions.

Looks like the virtual Windows machine has an option like

"allow the nic to the power power off in case of inactivity"

    permit.

  • Cannot ping or you connect to a virtual machine in ESXi 4.1

    Hello

Subject: I'm using VMware Workstation 7.1.2 on my laptop to install ESXi 4.1 2 hosts, VCenter and virtual machines to create a training environment. Not the ideal situation, but budget restrictions prevail.

Problem: cannot access any virtual machine created under ESXi hosts that have been created in Workstation 7.1.  Also, each internal virtual computer cannot access the internet or communicate with other external VMs created in Workstation 7.1.  However, all virtual computers outside created in VMware WS 7.1 can communicate with each other.

    Configuration:

Asus laptop: Intel i3-350, 8 GB of RAM internal 500 GB, 500 GB WD USB drive

computer laptop operating system: Ubuntu 10.04

    VMware Workstation 7.1.2 (Linux)

Windows Server 2008 DC-64 VM (VCenter installed)

    ESXi 4.1

I created two ESXi hosts and a virtual Windows Server 2008 computer, in my computer.  I installed the client in Windows Server 2008 VM and VCenter.  Each virtual machine can communicate with laptop computer and other virtual machines.  The real problem is that inside THAT VM created in ESXi running Workstation 7.1.2 cannot communicate with the internet, no other external virtual machines.

Each external VM (those created in WS) network card is filled, and I tried to use VMXNET3, E1000, VMXNET2 (Enhanced) and Flexible for the VM inside (those created in ESXi host located in WS) type of adapter.  No luck.  The Virtual Machine port group and VMKernel port showing a connection to the physical adapter (vmnic0). I tried to reconfigure the settings of the virtual network editor too.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

first stop each virtual machine on your vmware workstation, enter the above command and then run those virtual machines.

  • How can I connect to a virtual machine that uses a NAT map from outside via RDP

Hi, I'm under workstation 7.11. I have a windows xp virtual machines all use adapter NAT of VMware Workstation for connectivity. I am only able to connect to the VMs with RDP client via the host. If I try to anywhere else, I am unable to connect.

You can use linked by a bridge instead of NAT?  If this isn't the case, you need to enable Port Forwarding on the VMnet in the virtual network Editor.  FWIW, if you do not enable Port Forwarding I recommend setting up on a VMnet custom as VMnet2 example and assign the NIC of the virtual machine.  This keep the default VMnet8 for an unaltered NAT network.

Default port for RDP is TCP 3389
