  When you use an application for which virtualization is enabled, you create data files in virtualisables file system locations. When you use another application or Windows Explorer to access these newly created files, you cannot find them. For example, if you save a file in an application in the %ProgramFiles%, %any, % lecteur_systeme % or % programdata % photo editing files, you do not find this file.

  To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods:

  • Click the compatibility files button that appears in the Explorer bar to view files virtualized folder. The compatibility files button appears only if the virtualized files in the folder.
  • Look in the folder of \AppData\Local\VirtualStore C:\Users\User_nameto locate files and folders.
  • Save your application data in a folder under your user profile.

• Cannot find or open a folder for my captured videos, but they are there (WS-VR203P)

  I have a nice video capture unit that I managed to capture video.  (I bought from Monoprice.com (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10810&cs_id=1081003&p_id=5616&seq=1&format=2) and it seems that other sites sell as the WS-VR203P)

  The problem: the folder that it records videos in (C:\Program Files x86\EZ Grabber\MyVideos) is not visible in the Solution Explorer, even with "show files and folders" enabled.  The only way to see it is through the interface of the software video capture card, and even in this case the parent folder, it shows the folder my videos with a top lock.

  I need to access these records to import videos captured in Windows Live Movie maker or Adobe Premiere Pro, etc, but no program can see that folder.

  Any help would be much appreciated.

  Windows 7 does not allow for programs to save data in the x 86 Program Files or Program Files folders.  Your program is apparently not properly designed for Windows 7.  For backward compatibility purposes, it redirects these data in a 'virtual' folder in your user profile.  This can be very confusing when look you.

• File is there, but do not see it.

  For speed, I saved a file as c:\ac.jpg and then wanted to post it on facebook. I saved the file in the paint pro shop, doing "file" > "Save as" and then typed c:\ac.jpg.

  I can open the file in paint shop pro using exactly "c:\ac.jpg", or if I try and save it as c:\ac.jpg it tells me that the file already exists.

  However, I can't insert it into a word document, or add it to facebook using c:\ac.jpg. I am able to see it in my windows Explorer.

  For example, the file is there, but not visible to windows.

  I am an administrator on this private computer, using Win7 prof. I put my options to include all files and hide nothing, no path, no suffixes of file or anything - I want to see everything.

  Why are there two different implementations of the display and safety or anything that causes this problem?

  This seems to be just another piece poorly tested, mismanaged, MS software development once again.

  My origins: Windows (up to 2 k server) Admin, programmer, VB/VBa/admin, DBA Oracle, Unix, writer. 20 years as a professional with a degree in computer SCIENCE.

  UAC prevents recording of files to the root directory (and some other areas such as program files).  For reasons of backward compatibility, when a program attempts to write to a restricted area, the file is actually saved in a special folder in your user profile.  The file in question may seem to be located in C:\, but is in fact
  C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore

  These links provide more information how to view the file in Windows Explorer.  You can then move it to a location better.

• Menu of context 'Read' no word 'open '.

  I have an application that uses the ShellExecute (hWnd, "open", pFile, NULL, NULL, SW_SHOWMAXIMIZED); to view the attachments. The pFile file can be any type of document to PDF. On a Vista with Adobe Reader (8, 9, or 10) machine in the temporary directory of the user, it does not for PDF documents. When I right click the PDF the default verb is 'read' not 'open '. (If I replace the 'open' in my call to 'read', it works, but I can't do is can be an arbitrary fixation).

  The search in the registry for the Shell verbs not 'open' is entered. If I use 'Open with' to set the default program to "Notepad" it opens files in Notepad. If I change back to Adobe it goes back to 'read '.

  I have not configured this machine and it might be some 'interesting' permissions, security settings, but these cause Adobe Reader to change the word 'read', of 'open '? (And if so, how can I remove settings?). I am also as administrator with full read/write access to the directory?

  I searched the Internet and could not find another person with this problem, but no solution...

  We could solve what seems to be the same problem by correcting the registry.

  We had a domain user on a computer (Win 7/64-bit) with only one entrance to 'Read' in the context menu for the pdf files.

  Using ShellExecute ('open'...)  in a similar use cases, we had the same result as ceeebeem.

  Adober reading X is installed on all our machines.

  Other users - in particular a 'fresh' - on the same computer user did not have this problem.

  We started regedit for specific user and found

  HKCR\. PDF\ (standard) = pdf_auto_file

  Had other users:

  HKCR\. PDF\ (standard) = AcroExch.Document

  Entries and subtrees under:

  HKCR\AcroExch.document and

  HKCR\AcroExch.document.7

  were the same for all users.

  Reinstall or repair the Acrobat Reader X has not solved the problem.

  Also to reallocate the extension by "open with...". "did not work.

  But deleting the "HKCR\.pdf" entry for specific user does the job.

  After a registry to refresh the reappeard .pdf-entry for this user as:

  HKCR\. PDF\ (standard) is AcroExch.Document.

  So this seems like a problem with the registry virtualization.

  (May be another program with not enough access right has produced this virtual HKCR\.pdf entry.)

  In our case the Foxit Reader has been installed Compact (and later removed) on this machine. "But that's just a guess).

  EDIT:

  HM maybe edition HKCR was not a goog idea because according to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/256986/en HKCR is constructed in HKCU\Software\Classes and HKLM\Software\Classes. If the values should be edited it there...

  But the problem is still resolved, may ba as a side effect.

  Salvation for me :) I couldn't install the plugin, but it is possible to restart the SGD. In the shell, I used the command pluginca: $OMS_HOME/bin/pluginca - action deploy - id = virtualization plugin plugins could not be installed, but this removes the error, and after that, I could start the SGD.

  The problem is because the mass storage controller is using the IDE instead of SCSI and you use a virtual hard disk of monolithicSparse it's perhaps easier to recreate the image on the source and make sure that you select 'LSI Logic SAS' as you walk through the wizard in VMware vCenter Converter.

• What is the file or registry in mozilla application that gets launch to create the APPData\Roaming\Mozilla

  Hello, this looks like a problem maybe caused by adware on your pc. Please go to firefox > addons > extensions and remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, the things that you have not installed intentionally, I don't know what purpose they serve, etc.). also, go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and run a full scan of your system with the security software you have in place and various other tools such as the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.
