WINDOWS EXPLORER COMPATIBILITY FILES

WINDOWS VISTA: I downloaded files in a new folder in windows Explorer.   Later when I went to look at the files, they weren't there, I had to click on a button that says "compatibility files" then I could see them.

Is it possible that the default view can be set to automatically considers the compatibility files?

Hi TURNERMJJM,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

When you use an application for which virtualization is enabled, you create data files in virtualisables file system locations. When you use another application or Windows Explorer to access these newly created files, you cannot find them. For example, if you save a file in an application in the %ProgramFiles%, %any, % lecteur_systeme % or % programdata % photo editing files, you do not find this file.

To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods:

  • Click the compatibility files button that appears in the Explorer bar to view files virtualized folder. The compatibility files button appears only if the virtualized files in the folder.
  • Look in the folder of \AppData\Local\VirtualStore C:\Users\User_nameto locate files and folders.
  • Save your application data in a folder under your user profile.

  • French names for applications 'Windows Explorer' and 'File Explorer '?

I'm updating documentation and noticed that "Windows Explorer" (win7) and 'File Explorer' (win8) are mentioned in the French translations.

When you use the french language pack, these applications use the English names, or is there the French names for them?
    Thank you.

    Hey,.

-Are what documents you referring? Personal work or associated Windows?

-What version of Windows is installed on your computer? Is - this Windows 7 or Windows 8?

If you have installed the French language pack, then some of the applications (Windows 8) will be displayed with the french names and rest will appear in English because the version of Windows installed on the computer will be in English. If you have installed the version French of Windows, then the interface of Windows will be in french, and if you add an English language pack, then some of the apps will appear in English.

So, if you don't want the french names on applications, then please check the language packs installed (and the current language pack used) and change it to English.

  • Problems with Windows Explorer and files?

FYI, I'm running 7 64 x SP1, I have Avast! antivirus and malwarebytes and CCleaner and aswMBR rootkit scanner.

Yesterday, I left my computer while doing research for a bite to eat and I came back and this error box titled "CScript.exe" Application error "and in the box, he said that the program could not start and press OK to close the program. It was the first time I saw this error, so I clicked on OK and didn't think much, until I went to research and decided to run a full on Avast scan and no viruses were found, so I decided to use malwarebytes to check and when I went to open it (it is in my Start menu... don't use it very often) he wouldn't run and all of a sudden I had this error as Explorer windows stopped working, he was checking for a solution, and it restarted itself. I thought it was weird, so I tried to run windows Defender got the exact same result - Defender would not and open windows Explorer stopped and restarted itself. I'm so gone to CCleaner (which surprisingly open upwards) to see if my registry was somehow screwed up, analyses to find errors and there was none. I checked the programs installed through CCleaner to see if maybe there is a program that appears as if by magic, and it was not all. So I ran my rootkit scanner and it wasn't rootkits but I saved the log file on my desktop and it does not open. Does not open the Task Manager, command prompt does not open, the center of the action does not open... nothing beneficial opens. While doing all this, the error "CScript.exe" jumped to the top about 3 or 4 times just randomly. I don't know what happened to the drive that is used to repair/reinstall windows, so it's a little out of the question. I considered to start Windows in safe mode and backup on a restore point, but have not yet tried. Any suggestions?

Good, well * seems * after booting in normal mode, the problem is resolved. exp works normally now, but let's see whether it is temporary or not.

I see all my files in Windows Explorer, but they disappear when I search for them so that in the websites where I want to attach a document or a picture, such as Facebook or Craigslist.  I can see 'Libraries' and 'Users', but in these cases, not all my subfolders and files are available.  This has changed a few days ago.

    Hi Bill,

To provide the proper resolution, I would need more information on your side.

    1. what web browser do you use?

    3. did you of recent changes on the computer before this problem?

This problem can occur because of incorrect browser or following problem with some Web sites.

    Method 1:

Copy some images or files on the desktop and try adding files and images now. Check the status of the issue.

    Method 2:

Check the status of the issue by doing the same task with different Web site.

    Hi Don,

    Thanks for the reply.

To resolve the problem with the preview pane, you can try these methods.

    Method 1:

I suggest you scan the computer to verify that there is no infection by the virus, using the Microsoft Safety Scanner.

Microsoft safety scanner will help us to get rid of software viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

    Note:

    1) the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

    2) if you run the virus scan of the program which is infected with the virus will be deleted. Therefore, reinstall the program. Also, if files and folders are affected by the virus, while they might even get deleted.

    Method 2:
If the problem persists, I would say allowing you to run the auditor of file system (CFS) analyze and check if it helps.

  • Open a windows Explorer jpg file

My copy of 12 items, lights up when I click on a jpg file in windows Explorer, but the image does not load in the program and view the photo editing window. What has caused this?

You probably have the jpeg files associated with the homescreen instead of the request of the Publisher. Look at this document for an example (it's for Mac, but the same principle applies on Windows): use with iPhoto | Mac OS. Basically, there are several EXE in Photoshop Elements files, if you associate your files with evil, you will get the wrongful conduct. The desired should be here: C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Photoshop elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe

  • Whenever I try to search in Windows Explorer, the files listed do not have the requested content.

    Hello.

One of my end-users using Windows search in Explorer to search for a particular value (> 8).  Once the search is complete, several files are listed, but when it opens in Word 2010 and looks exactly the same value, it is said that the value is found.  Why the world is happening?  What research watch hidden in files, or only the visible content attributes?
    Thank you.

The content property is not available on the upper level, less than, or other symbols comparative.  You can only search for characters.    And if you try to find the real character > itself, which does not work well.  The only non-alphanumeric characters that are available are ____, /, and -(I have tested the symbols on the keyboard).

Update: I have found since the other characters are available, using a special syntax.  For example:

    content: ~ = "> 8"

Who would find files that contain characters specific > 8 anywhere, as long as they are together in this order.

[Update: apparently special search symbols such as ~ = do not work with the content when property indexed research places, but work during the search in unindexed locations.]

And another thing, simply chokes Windows 7 Search on the search for Word files when these same Word files are open, especially if they are in a folder with a large number of files, if I remember that well.

  • File quit preview pane works in Windows Explorer 7

When I go into Windows Explorer, the file preview pane does not work.   In the unlikely event a file shows, it seems to freeze for 3-4 minutes (or forever gets stuck) instead of change when I go into another file.  Often a green bar is moving slowly on the top of the window.  I tried the following during the three days of blog suggestions: 1) the registry editor checked to check the appID value is correct. (2) high started to run command prompt: sfc/scannow to rule out any corrupt files on my OS System. (3) on the hard disk Ran error checking. (4) Ran Microsoft fixit. (5) check that all Microsoft updates have been applied. (6) (in the Explorer / organize folder & search options/display)-check the «always show icons, never thumbnails, then come back and unchecked as instructed in blog.»  (I know, it sounds stilly, but when you're desperate, you'll try anything).  Also selected "Restore Defaults". (7) Ran Norton and Microsoft anti-virus programs.   Quick notes: problems seem to coincide with updates to Google Chrome (I do not use Google Chrome so don't know how they came, but have since been removed/uninstalled all.)  Keep getting Norton alerts such as blocked attack from: Trojan.Powlik, Trojan.AdClicker, Fake browser Update2w feat Toolkit Web site. Malvertisement site redirect 3, web FakeScan page 2, exploit Toolkit site 32 etc etc.  Also rec'd infected system: TrojanAdClicker.  Get continuously high CPU usage, high drive or use high memory usage: COM Surrogate.  Often takes forever to load the Web page. Leads me to believe I have the virus, but don't know how to detect it.  Can someone help me please?

Finally! I found the solution.  Even though I have Norton anti-virus, my computer became infected with viruses Trojan Powliks and Adclicker.  I ran two other virus programs during my search for a solution to my problem, but none of them has detected the virus either.  Finally (!) "How to remove Trojan Poweliks", I searched and found a Norton community blog (isn't it funny?) who gave the solution.  I'm just a user of the computer, so I'm trying to detail the steps of 'how-to-fix ".  I ran RogueKiller in conjunction with Microsoft explore process.  I ran twice the program... 1st found Powlik virus removed and restarted.  The second time found a "Puppy" to remove.  Get rid of this virus solved the problem with my preview pane mentioned in my initial problem mentioned above.  Phew!

  • Windows cannot access Windows Explorer

My computer recently had trouble with one of the user accounts, which gives a ' the user profile Service has no logon. Could not load user profile ' error. Not wanting to play with the registry, I followed method 2 in the following Help article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215. He worked mainly, with the only problem so far is that the computer does not find the Windows Explorer (the file manager section). The shell works fine (oddly). Basically says error that it cannot find the program.

How would I go about fixing this particular error?

  • Cannot delete or rename a file Word via Windows Explorer

Windows 7 - Word 2007. Modification of a file .doc (compatibility mode) where the word went into a loop where it ignored all the entries. I waited for half an hour and finally had to stop the word with the Task Manager. The file that was opened at the time cannot be deleted or renamed. Same results when the system is booted in safe mode. Message is "the action cannot be completed because the file is opened in Microsoft Office Word. Word is NOT open at this stage. Result even after a reboot and no further action other than the attempt to delete the same message.

If the file is opened in Word and immediately closed with no action of any kind, always the same result, cannot delete the file and the same message is given.

Surprisingly, the file can be copied but try to remove the copy gets the same message.

How can I delete the file?

Hello, Azam, thank you for your interest for my problem

Re: Virus Scan - I use AVG and ran the scan with no problems found

Re: Safe Mode, see my original post. I tried without success

However... I found a way to remove the file. The BACK DEL cmd line feature deletes the file. We have to be careful and make sure that absolutely nothing reference file. The first time I tried to delete the file that I had Windows Explorer open and the file was clicked and the first page was displayed in the preview window and the DEL command failed, noting that the file is open in another application.

When I closed the window of the Explorer and retried the DEL command, it worked!

Unfortunately it took me almost two days to think about trying the DOS command line utility. I won't forget her now.

    Thanks for responding.

You ask if I have problems and I still have another major unresolved problem. It is, however, deliver a MS Word. If this isn't your cup of tea, perhaps you can point one word on it gurus.

I posted this a few days ago on the Office Online site in the area of the floor. There has been no response...

Here is a copy of the message:

    -------------------------------------------

    Word 2007 and Windows 7.

I have a file called v1.doc who was already involved in a situation where while I just changed that word went into a loop, and after waiting half an hour, I had to terminate Word by using the Task Manager.

When I reopened it v1.doc Word seems to have recovered the file correctly, but at the top of the window where the name of the file is indicated, there is now the "(Read-Only) text '."

When I try to save the file Word tells me that as the current file is read-only, I must give the file a new nane what I do: v2.doc and speech issues.

When I opened v2.doc I expected the read-only attribute is missing since the new name has been provided. However, v2.doc file has the same note "read-only" at the top.

Record (using Save as) as v3.doc v2.doc continues the same process.

I can't get rid of the read-only attribute and therefore every change requires a new version of the file.

If we check the file properties in Windows Explorer the read attribute alone is NOT defined.

    ---------------------------------
I could not remove these files are older versions v1.doc, etc that I note above

Any solution to this problem would be highly appreciated.
