Reinstall vista premium on acer 5720

The machine became very slow. Advisable to reinstall vista. Make a backup set of disks (11 off CD). During the reinstall the 160 GB drive HARD failed. Bought a new Seagate 250 GB HDD REF.st500lt012 9ws142.  Charge of 11 CDs but at the end of the 11th invited to reload the first disc. Seems to progress, but finally get the message that windows cannot be loaded. Borrowed a 250 GB HDD from a friend - not loaded no problem. (temporarily using this now). A friend used machine desk top to try the new HARD drive. Loaded Vista of a genuine Microsoft disk without problem. I'm a novice, but I guess it's a "simple" problem (I hope)' can someone help me please. I don't know what to do next. (new HARD drive has been verified by an audit of seagate program - all OK)

Hello

Why don't borrow you Microsoft Vista DVD your companion to reinstall on your machine, IF it's a Microsoft DVD, not a DELL, HP, DVD etc.

It's a legal way to do it.

You can borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

Pretty simple.  problem is when I got my new PC out of the box, vista is already installed and the product key is on the side of my Tower. There is no disk that I can remember, and now I'm naïve what to do.    I really want to spend another $ 150, I don't have, something that I wouldn't really need. Is it possible to reinstall vista online if I can prove it is mine and noone elses?         Help, please!

Most new computers come with a version of Vista recovery on a partition of your hard drive.

You need to read the documentation that came with your computer to find out how to start the recovery.

Normally you have to press a button or two while the computer starts up, then ask if you want to restore the computer to factory settings.

Note If you do this will delete EVERYTHING on your hard drive (just what you put on the computer SINCE you bought it).

If this is not available contact the company you purchased the computer turned off and ask them for a set of recorvery CD / DVD.

    One last thing.

DO NOT PLAY WITH THE REGISTRY WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING.

    In fact

DO NOT PLAY WITH THE REGISTRY. FULL STOP.

  • Should I reinstall Vista Home Premium?

My problem started when I downloaded a few new files for a game, I run on my Vista Home Premium.  The game is Left 4 Dead 2, I've been looking for a good map editor for game cards included with the game, and in my research on the web, I found a few new cards that are in zip (compressed) format, and after reading the instructions I have to use my 'open with... " command through Vista and the value of Left 4 Dead 2 as well as the program to open these files with..., now on my system, I have a lot of space (500 GB HDD with about 75% of free space), I have a quad-processor, 2.40 GHz Pentium 4, 4 GB of RAM.  Now for the problem; When I select Left 4 Dead 2 as the program to use in the "Open with...» " window and click OK, nothing happens, Left 4 Dead 2 does not appear in the"Open with... " list of programs and it happens with all types of file/program type on my system.  So I ask, can I reinstall Vista once more?  It has been replaced once before, and honestly, I didn't like the process of resettlement.

Resettlement took my old Windows subfolder and placed in another directory on the operating system reinstalled.  I can see why he does it, but honestly, it's a royal pain in the neck to find out what to do with the new directory, I ended up just removing all together.  So I ask you, should I reinstall or not to solve this problem with 'open with... '. »?

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

  • Reinstall Vista

Hi, I need to reinstall Vista on a Compaq laptop that came with Vista pre-installed. I have an office work of HP with Vista, with recovery disks. These discs work on the laptop? If this is not the case, can I transfer Vista laptop desk? I have registration for the two data.   Thanks Geoff

    Hello

Not preinstalled Vista licenses can be transferred from a HP desktop to a laptop HP Compaq computer, for so you can not use the recovery disks from the desktop to reinstall Vista on the laptop, because these recovery disks are specifically for the office.

And preinstalled (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.) Vista OEM licenses licenses are and are not transferable from one computer to the other.

OEM licenses are tied to the first machine on which they are installed and the OEM license dies when the machine dies.

If you never received a disc or make your own recovery disc for the laptop, press F11 at startup on your laptop to start the process of recovery for her.

    Hello

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed
