reinstallation of vista

my computer crashed after an automatic update has been installed. After trying to recover without success was trying to reinstall Vista Edition home premium 64-bit with disc supplied. I made the point by reinstalling the program asks you where to load the drivers for mass storage driver to install. I insert the diskette of drivers/utilities computers scans the drive but just by saying no drivers found. HELP PLEASE

If you have problems with the Vista recovery process/media manufacturer's computer, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer.

It's their recovery process that they put in place, not from Microsoft.

See you soon.

I wish all the disk 0, which is 250 GB, leaving the 1 free 500 GB disc to have been the repository of backup and archiving of others.  But I don't want to have to reinstall everything.  I couldn't move bootmgr, BOOTSECT. • Sequence of patches after reinstallation of Vista Home Premium.

I have an OEM copy of Vista Home Premium that doesn't have SP1 or SP2 on it (bought Vista before they came out).

I just did a reinstall of Vista Home Premium (formatted hard drive).

I started doing the update of Windows and got offered LOADS of updates, then after this I gave myself SP1. Then after that still more updates to update, then finally SP2. It took FOREVER.

How can I shorten this process?

Is this OK to put on SP1 (from CD) RIGHT AFTER the VISTA installed (before downloading updates), and then put on SP2 (from CD) after this (once again without any other updates)?

Or Vista does expect some fixes to install before the SP1 or SP2 installed?

    Hello, Guilbert

You can download the standalone versions and just install them immediately.

There are a few prerequisite updates that must be installed first, which must be installed very well.

    Service Pack 1: Download the stand-alone update: 32 bit | 64-bit
    Service Pack 2: Download the stand-alone update: 32 bit | 64-bit

  • reinstallation of vista on the new hard drive without disc

my hard drive failed completely and I replaced it but I do not have a disk of vista product. How to get a vista disk to reinstall on a new hard drive. I have the product key

    Hello

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

    Hello

When you reinstall the operating system you wipe the hard drive.

Depending on how you have reinstalled Vista:

    Look for a folder windows.old

"How to restore your personal files after performing an installation of Windows Vista or Windows 7"

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/932912

And you can try this free program to try to recover data lost, etc.:

Other meanings, you will need to contact companies for recovery of data, which are very expensive.

  • Reinstallation of Vista Home Premium on Home Basic on a new hard drive

    Hi all

I don't know how to start my relocation.  Here is a little background and the problem:
I was a stranger, and my hard drive crashed.  I had the hard drive replaced and the Windows Vista Home Basic edition is installed for temporary use.  Now back in the States, I would like to reinstall Home Premium edition (based) and all of its programs on my laptop and I'm not sure how to start.  I just put the disc in and go?  Or is it more that I'm missing?
It is also necessary that I keep all my files currently saved on the laptop; so so simply by putting the reinstall drive in will require from a new team and wiping out my files, this is obviously not an option.
    Please advise!  Thank you kindly,

    Dane

You must do a clean install from scratch, but don't want to because of your data.

All you can do is a form of Basic Upgrade to premium want to keep everythibg instact...

Startup Vista basic running > insert Home Premium DVD in player > do a upgrade.

  • Why after reformatting and reinstallation of vista, it seems he used 20 GB of space, and I do not see what is used in this space... NOTHING else has added other then the drivers

Had problems with the speed of the computer. He was never reformatted since bought 4 years ago.

I reformatted my hard drive (disk recovery do not hit Yètè - 10 gig inside). I reinstalled Vista premium home from my dell disk edition. I added the drivers and began the labourous task to make the updates of windows (SP1 and SP2) and various others pushed at me. I have minimum one... IT set my free AVG antivirus protection. I have NOTadded from other programs or files/images etc. I have a drive hard 62 gigabytes and now only have 33 gig left to use!

When I try and search which uses all the memory files add up only to a few 3 GB of space. What is using the rest of this space, where is it and how do I get to see it! ???

as I said 62 gig disk hard - 3 gig of programs - 10 gig of recovery = I have 49 gig of space.

but I did only 33 gig of space!

    Al

    Hi AlRomMaron,

I suggest you to read the article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919183

The additional 15 GB is taken up for the actual operating system (OS) as noted in the article (15 GB required for the OS)

  • Extremely slow performance since the reinstallation of Vista Acer restore disk

I have serious problems with my laptop since the reinstall Vista for my Acer recovery media.  The CPU usage goes to 100% whenever a program is open or a transparent effect comes into play.  An example would be allowing the Windows Sidebar and hovering the mouse over the bar to make the window fades.  He sees the jump to 100% CPU has not completed the fade in and out.  SD video play is more correctly, hence loss of images and speaker crackling and content HD is completely out of the question.  Web-based video streaming is possible and even simple tasks like opening the windows and web browsing is stupidly long wait time while the system catches up.  Even the pointer of the mouse leaves trails!

I'll list the steps I tried to try to get to the bottom of this below.

    -Uninstall most software Acer
-Reinstalled the graphics and the sound card drivers
-Installed all the Windows updates available
    -Disabled Windows Update service
    -AV/Firewall software uninstalled
-Checked starter and Services to search for suspicious programs
    -Scanned for viruses/Spyware
-CPU Ran diagnostic tool (forget the name) - ran for an hour, no warnings or errors

TaskManager is used, the processes using the CPU is what either the application is currently in use at this time (for example, when sidebar is faded, jumping to use upward in the process manager, then comes back down to 0 until another task is carried out), there is no single process using the majority of the processing power and no CPU usage is reported when the system is inactive.

Any suggestions on what to try next?

    Hello

You have installed something other than AVG?
It was like that immediately after execution of the recovery?
Why do you run recovery in the first place?

You had a bad load of recovery, rerun it wouldn't hurt.

You can also have a problem of material, in which case you will need to identify and replace the defective part.

It is also possible that you have a rootkit, and moving requires more than a simple reformatting/reinstall. The answers to the above questions would indicate more precisely what direction you should take.
