Reinstalling Windows 8 for Ubuntu

I got a HP Pavilion with windows 8 preinstalled g4 and decided to try ubuntu top. I want to know how to reinstall windows 8. I don't have the product key.

You will not be able, Ubuntu and other Linux distributions don't recognize the executable files.

The first thing you can try to do is reinstall using the partition recovery supplied with your computer, if it is functional and working:

If Windows 8 does not correctly open, perform the following steps to recover the computer:
NOTE: If only the hard disk recovery partition does not work properly, this method does not work and an error message is displayed. If an error message indicates that the system recovery cannot be performed in the splash screen, a set of recovery discs or a USB recovery flash drive is necessary to perform a system recovery. Follow the steps in one of the following sections, depending on the available recovery media: recovery of recovery (Windows 8) discs or recovery from a USB flash drive (Windows 8) .
  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. Cables and devices to disconnect all the connected such as personal media players, USB drives, printers and faxes. Remove support for internal hard drives and remove any recently added hardware internally. Disconnect not the monitor, keyboard, mouse or power cord .
  3. Turn on the computer and repeatedly press the F11 key about once per second, until what appears the screen Select your keyboard type and then follow the following instructions:
    1. Click to select the keyboard layout.
    2. The computer restarts. If the hard disk recovery partition does not work, choose an Option appears. Click on Troubleshooting .

    3. On the troubleshooting screen, click on Recovery Manager .

  1. Select back up your files first (recommended) , and then click Next .
  2. Select the method to use to select the files to backup:
    • If you want to identify the categories of files to back up, select Automatic Selection . This option allows you to select the type of file to save instead of select the files to back up. For example, you can choose to back up all the files of images, all the document files and all the video files.
    • If you want to select the files to back up, select the user Selection , and then click Next .

  5. Depending on the media selected to store the backup files, the computer invites you to insert a blank disc or USB key. Insert the media into the computer, and then click Next .

  12. Recovery Manager reformats the Windows partition and reinstall the original software.
  13. After system recovery is complete, click Finish to restart the computer. Complete the configuration screens and wait until the computer finishes the installation program.

  14. Once the installation is complete, turn off the computer, reconnect all cables and devices and then turn on the computer.
  15. Before using the computer, update and protect your computer by reinstalling all software antivirus and security that was installed before the system recovery.
  16. Reinstall software that have been added after the purchase of the computer, and all files that were backed up.
  17. If none of the works above, you must request a HP recovery media:

    • Reinstalling Windows XP for Windows 7 upgrade installation

Note: Windows XP to Windows 7 help / help of recovery

I changed Windows XP to Windows 7. When I was on Windows XP I used conflicted software virus: Avast! and Norton. Finally this made me not be able to open anything, especially .exe.  I tried to do a system restore, but I couldn't go to the bar of programs in the start menu. After that, I thought it would be a good time to upgrade to Windows 7 and eliminate these problems. I tried to upgrade to Windows 7 just by putting in the disc, but it wouldn't load because of the previous problem. So, I put in the Windows XP disk and run Setup. When he arrived to the part when he says, "Windows Setup" it came with several errors saying that it could not find the files that should be on the disk. So, I pressed cancel and then turns off my computer. He tells me now when I go to the installation choose a place to put my new windows, and the only one there is C:. The problem is that there are already windows there. Remove the current patrician and then install it or install it even if it is already there. Remember, I want to just install Windows 7 once I get XP working.

Thanks for all the help in advance!

      Hey Nub-Sauce,

You can select the C: drive and try the install again. It will try to replace windows with the new installation of windows XP. Failure, then try to delete the current partition and try the install again.

Note: You may lose the data stored in the system after reinstall, repair, or upgrade Windows XP.

    • Windows partition for Ubuntu 8

      Hello

I intend to install Ubuntu 14 alongside Windows 8 and therefore need to partition the C drive.

My C drive currently has 212 GB of space, of which 154 GB is shown for free.

When I try to reduce the volume, 'the size of available shrink space in MB ' is estimated at 1 295 Mo only.

I tried to optimize/defrag/drive cleaning options just in case he would have made a difference, but it did not.

I couldn't understand why this is so, because I was expecting a bigger partition for the operating system that you are secondary.

It would be great if someone with the best insight could share their thoughts on this.

      Thank you

Well, I'm frustrated. My Acer Aspire P3 has corrupted Windows files. It cost me $55.00 for a tech get my computer to boot from a black screen. I'm unable to update or reinstall Windows make for "missing" files I also tried to install Windows 10 but I get an error code 80070005 It happens every time I tried. So, what are my options at this point? Is there anyway to "force" my computer back to factory settings?

In conclusion, I wouldn't need to take my Acer computer in the fix - it shop, in the first place. I searched and tried drivers for other models, but so far has not come with any one that works with this one.

The hard drive no longer works so I put in a new drive and the owner wanted to use new Windows 7 because she was not too fond of the updated operating system.

    • Reinstall Windows XP Proffesional for HP laptop, but I have a bad original disc

I'm trying to reinstall windows XP Professional on a Compaq HP 6735 s Notebook PC. I have the original XP installation CD but it has a bad scratch on the back. Because of the scratch it will not load the files. The first two file it will not load are cpqsap01.sys and cyycoins.chm. I managed to reinstall XP from a DELL installation CD, but of course he says that it is a test of only 30 days. This person does not want to upgrade to VISTA (I have this OS drive).

I tried to save a copy of XP on the Microsoft Web site, and he said: it is no longer supported. Anyway I get this machine to the top and run again? Thank you

I susspect keyboard is u/s Strawberry is not another computer to try out it.

Its aps2 not a usb connection.

      ?

      Hello
It sounds like you need to reinstall the drivers for this keyboard. It is likely that when you reinstalled Windows, all the old drivers have disappeared as well. So, I recommend two things.

First, visit the website of your computer manufacturer and update all the drivers. For example, if you have an HP computer, go to the HP site and find your specific computer it. Then download all the drivers that have been updated for the PC.

Secondly, you may need to download the drivers for this specific keyboard. In this case, you will do the same as above. Go to the website of the factory (on the keyboard) and find this specific model. Then download the drivers

I hope this helps. Just reply to the results.
