I put the hard drive of the compaq in the sony (large fits) I can not get windows to load... is there a way I can erase that hard drive via an Ethernet LAN to my laptop which runs windows 10 remotely? If so is there a way then reinstall vista on this hard drive without the software disc?

Hello

What you do to a hard drive with an operating system preinstalled / license for a Compaq laptop a Sony, are not allowed under the rules of licensing.

If the laptop came with the preinstalled Windows operating system (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.), this product key supplied with the laptop is preinstalled OEM license and is not transferable.

OEM license/product key (systems of operating pre-installed on Dell, HP, etc.) is related to the first machine it is installed on and dies when dies of this machine.

The above applies also to OEM system builders licenses.

License of operating system in detail, that you buy and install yourself, are allowed to be transferred to another machine.

And retail licenses also can be installed on a machine at one time.

Reinstall Windows 7 on a new hard drive in the Sony.

As you have a pre-installed on the Sony OEM license, contact the manufacturer of your computer to order recovery media that they need to provide for a fee, if they're still available...

Or you can also borrow the same exact retail edition DVD of Windows 7 and use your product key to reinstall.

The COA sticker with the product key is either or in the battery compartment on the underside of the laptop.

With a desktop computer, it's on the side, the back or the top of the computer case.

See you soon.

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

  • Can I format HARD drive and reinstall Windows 7 on the Qosmio F60 without CD

I think my hard drive is faulty on my F60 Quosmio so I want to reformat the hard drive to see if that will fix it. But I don't have the original packaging and the information with me at the moment so I don't know if it came with a windows 7 CD or not. Whatever it is, I don't have the CD.

I found on the net that most manufacturer who deliver without CD include a "recovery partition" or "factory image partition" which you can access during startup. Anyone know if the F60 Quosmio comes with a CD or if she has this recovery partition or partition image factory? Or do you know if there is a way I can check if my computer is it?

If you have more information about the formatting of the hard drive and reinstall windows 7 without the CD please let me know.

    Thank you.

The laptop came with a Windows disc, because there is a Toshiba recovery disc Creator called tool which create the recovery disk.

The recovery partition was available and it allows you to recover the laptop without the use of the recovery disk, but it does not work if the HARD drive has failed.

Note the devices installed in the machine.  Use this information to download the latest version of the drivers and software for the manufacturer's Web site features (on another machine and store on an external support, I suppose, would be the only way for you to do.)

Uninstall the software/drivers for network devices.  Turn it back on.  Even if pilots are found/installed automatically, manually update the drivers & software using the files you downloaded earlier.

  • Format the hard drive and reinstall XP

Hi - my old Insprion I8200 had more slower over the years.  So I want to do a full format of the hard drive and reinstall Windows XP.  I understand that this will destroy all my data, that is not a problem.

I have the Dell operating system reinstallation CD and the instructions tell me that when I boot from the CD, there will be two options: Windows repair or reinstall Windows.  I intend to use the option of resettlement, but I want to make sure that this option is likely to reformat the hard disk, before it reinstalls Windows.

    Can there, someone confirm please?

  • Wipe the hard drive and reload Windows Vista

I want to wipe my hard drive and then reload Windows vista business 32-bit my original cd/dvd, what is the best way to do it and what does it save before I commit to such an action. I had a series of problems with my computer and the last correction process was the Iolo System Mechanic (that should come with warnings) which managed to destroy my windows installer. should record different programs of files, etc.

    Hello

To reinstall Vista using the recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

To reinstall from a Vista DVD from Microsoft, you change the Boot order and follow this information:

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/84488-activate-Vista-phone.html

As it was explained to you, you need to reinstall 3rd party programs from the original media (from CD, DVD, etc.)

And this method back up to an external hard drive your files, photos, music, documents, etc.:

  • MacBook Pro A1260 replacement HARD drive and reinstall OS

    Hello

After more than 8 years my Macbook Pro has "finally" stopped working. I discovered the problem is the HARD drive and I wanted to replace it with an SSD, but I don't know if I can? Also to reinstall everything with a new hard drive do I need I know that I need the original DVD with the operating system but my superdrive drive obviously does more centuries ago (bad quality on the right?) and I left the DVD at home (Italy), now I live in the United Kingdom. As I do not think that my Mac has a Mode to retrieve Internet, can I just make a usb bootable with El Capitan (the one I was currently using) or I need a previous operating system? I think the native Mac with Leopard.

    Hope someone can help me.

    Thank you very much

    John

You can install an SSD in your MBP as long as the form factor SSD 2.5 ".  OWC and Crucial get my nod as the best for Mac compatibility.

You can get the installation disks in double for your MBP of Service model Apple customer.  Or you can order this Snow Leopard disc:

    http://www.Apple.com/shop/product/MC573Z/A/Mac-OS-x-106-Snow-Leopard

You can use an external DVD drive or the DVD drive, another Mac connected to yours.

    Ciao.

  • How can I replace a compaq presario C762NR hard drive and reinstall windows?

My friend brought me his computer and said that he would not start. I tried to boot into safe mode and normal mode and it would not work. It would simply flash a blue screen and restart. After you run a test it is determined that the hard drive has failed. A new laptop is not an option at this point.

I bought a new hard drive and I ordered the HP recovery disk. What are the appropriate steps to complete this replacement?

The computer is out of warranty and so is the hard drive. The computer has Windows Vista on it. The failed hard drive was 160 gb, 2.5 ", SATA 1.5 gb/s, 8 MB cache. The news is the same except that it is SATA 3 gb/s.

This is my first time, replacing a hard drive. I'm confident about it, but I want to just make sure I do it correctly.

    Hello

All you have to do after replacing the HARD drive is the following.

Start Notepad and open the CD/DVD drive.  Insert the first disc of recovery.  Hold the power button until the laptop stops.  Press the power button to start the laptop that should now boot from the recovery disk and start the recovery process.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite A660 - 1 H 7 - How to replace the hard drive and reinstall Windows 7

    Hi all

I'm frequently getting warnings about the health of my hard drive and while it is not catastrophic, I've been umming and ahhing (?) on the replacement of an SSD in the future anyway so thought it was a good excuse.

My real question is, what the procedure is perfect (or greater) for Windows 7 migration to the new drive? I think I want a default installation because this laptop has had so many programs installed/uninstalled it's probably a bit of a mess.

I have created 4 recovery DVD disks but have seen on the net they don't work and that download an ISO with the vignette product key can work either. I can't really afford interruption much (or all) so I try to do it safely and securely as possible!

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks for your time,.
    Scott

    > what the procedure is perfect (or greater) for Windows 7 migration to the new drive?

I think the fastest solution is the use of the recovery disk that you created using the recovery media creator Toshiba. I don't see a reason why it should not work as part of a new SSD.

    I also have another recommendation.
You can create an image of your current HDD (partitions) using internal Windows 7 Backup and restore
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/products/features/backup-and-restore

After using the recovery disk, you can use the created image to get the current status.
