Remove 8.1 components from a secondary drive system

Hello

I had another question on a new installation of 64-bit Windows 8.1 on two SSD.  My computer has an ASUS PZ778-V pro motherboard running an i5 - 3570 k and 32gbs of memory chip.  (Once again thanks for the solution to the question of the double partition).

I installed C: / drive on a 250 GB SSD, put most of the non-essential programs like second SSD and then inchange a partitioned hard drive standard 1 TB of data (D: /) and the media (M: /).

When I then tried to use the backup of the system AEMOI one click he identified two C: / and D: / as requiring a backup.  View in disk management, it shows C: / drive as "Boot, Page File, crash dump" and my data drive in the 'system, active, primary Partition ".

My question is quite simple, even if the answer can't be.  Is there a way to discover what is making my D: / appear as having a 'System' component and, if so, is there a process that I can go through that would remove the link.

Thank you very much in anticipation.

Hi Thylacine,

I understand that you need to score another partition than the partition Active.

To answer your question Yes you can mark a partition as active. Please follow the article that explains how to mark a partition as active partition using disk management.

WARNING: Mark another partition as active partition can make your system unbootable.

Refer to the following article for more information:

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/mark-partition-active#1TC=Windows-7

Note: This is an article for windows 7, but the procedure is the same for Windows 8/8.1.

Step to control panel in Windows 8 / 8.1:

Right-click Windows key indicator and select Control Panel

Once you're on the rest of the control panel of the procedure is the same.

Important information:

When you use the tool of component software snap-in Disk Manager of Windows to mark your main as partition active, the computer will not start upward if the partition marked as active does not contain the boot Windows files (or the boot to another operating system files).

NOTE: Windows always considers the partition active C drive, then drive on the letters of the hard disk partitions may have changed from their original orientation.

Using the Recovery Console, you must copy the following files in the root directory of the original system partition to the root directory of the current active partition (which is now drive C):

  • NTLDR
  • NTDETECT.COM
  • BOOT. INI

If the partition was not formatted by using Windows, you may also use the FIXBOOT command in the Recovery Console to make the active partition bootable.

After you are able to boot into Windows, it is recommended that you use the tool of component software snap-in disk management Windows to reset the system to the original partition partition active and restart the computer. This will restore the correct system partition as the C: drive.

Hope this information helps. For any further assistance, do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to help you.

    Hi HaBiB JHoN,

    1. what operating system is installed on the computer?
    2. don't you make changes to the computer before the show?

    Method 1
The best way to remove BitLocker on windows 7 32-bit is to follow the following steps.
    a. click on start
    b. click Control Panel
    c. whereas the Control Panel, find the Bitlocker Drive Encryption icon, click on it
    d. here you will see all the partitions on your hard disk and their encryption status, whether encrypted or not.
    e. that is encrypted, you will find an option to turn off bitlocker. Click on it and wait for the machine to decrypt.

    Method 2
To prevent losing access to drives protected by BitLocker in case of failure of the TPM secure, forgotten passwords or loss of smart cards or USB keys, it is important that you have a way for administrators to access to BitLocker drives. BitLocker supports the following methods to retrieve access to protected drives:

    a. recovery key or recovery password. You can use a BitLocker recovery password or a recovery key. If a BitLocker key is not available, as in the case of a missing SmartCard or forgotten user password, a 48-digit recovery password can be used to unlock the protected drive. In place of a password, a recovery key which has been stored in a file on a removable media such as a USB flash drive, can also be used to unlock the protected drive.

    b. backup key in Active Directory Domain Services. Password recovering BitLocker can be stored in Active Directory Domain Services. This allows administrators, such as the personal assistant of office help users retrieve drives protected by BitLocker when they have forgotten or misplaced their recovery password.

    c. data recovery agent. A data recovery agent is the person designated as a system administrator, who can use his administrative credentials to unlock BitLocker-protected drives. BitLocker is not configured with the default data recovery agents, neither data recovery agents are enabled by default. They must be enabled and configured by using Group Policy.

Perhaps some may remain in the cache or shadow copy

Files must not be stored on a memory stick, the stick must be considered as a temporary storage area.

If you change files on a stick, they should be edited on a hard drive, then copied on the key location, or

  • boot from secondary drive after the failure of the primary

I have a desktop Dell XPS 8500 1,5 years.  Already, the motherboard had to be replaced.  and now the main internal hard drive hasn't apparently - according to the dell diagnostics.  When I got to the computer, I installed a secondary hard drive and set up a periodic back place... If all goes well, which worked all along.  My question is, what is the best way to recover?  I can't boot from the secondary drive... I guess there is no SYS file there and no Windows 7 installed there.  The only disc I can find from dell for this computer is Dell Drivers and Utilities disk.  I don't remember ever having a Windows 7 installation disc.  It is available for download at dell?

    Hi Ajbuch,

The best way to recover the system is to install a new hard drive on which you can install Windows 7. You can not install Windows 7 on the second disk since you already have the files it contains. I have a link below a nice OS installation guide which includes instructions for the preparation of a disc to install Windows 7 from a downloadable file (or FlashDrive if you prefer).

Since your 8500 is quite recent, you can consider a SSD drive, which gives you great performance boost.

  • Windows XP on secondary drive

    Hello

I installed my old hard drives from my old computer to a new computer running OS Windows7. I had a mother fail.

Although I can see all the files on my old readers, I need to excess information under Windows XP operating system. Because Windows 7 will not work some applications, including Outlook Express.

I was trying to use the my old primary drive where Windows XP is loaded, as a startup disk, folder Windows are still good... so I think.

I tried to spent on the old drive as the main stand in the BIOS but Windows requires an activation code, I did not. I have a key to valid code, but Windows will not be exception.

How to validate Windows XP on my old readers? and I can start up on Windows XP from my secondary drive?

    Is this possible?

    Hello

    1. have you set any password for the old hard drive?

    2. what happens when you start in Windows 7 and then try to access the old hard drive?

    3. you receive an error message that is related to the activation of the old hard drive?

    4. what exactly happens when you try to access the information under Windows XP?

You can try booting the system with Windows 7, and then try to access the files on the old hard drive. The problem could be related to authorization, which could lead to access denied error message when you try to access the files on the old hard drive.

In which case you get the access denied error when accessing the files/folders on the old disk hard when you started the computer with Windows 7, you can try the steps of troubleshooting provided in the link below.

As I was deleting some files from my hard drive, I came across some files that I couldn't remove with a message saying remove wite protection. Help!

This error indicates that an application is using this file at this point here. If you are unable to remove it, restart your computer and then try to delete it.

IF YOU ARE NOT SUCCESSFUL WITH THE above METHOD, THEN TRY to USE UNLOCKER, a free application that disables the application using the file that you want to delete.
    Download unlocker from here-http://www.filehippo.com/download_unlocker/
Click on the above link and click on download the newer version on the right side of the screen.
Download UNLOCKER from the link given above and install it. (you may need to restart the computer)
Right-click on the file you want to delete, and then click unlocker.
A new window opens showing all applications using this file.
Select all files, and then click on unblock.
Now right-click on the file you want to delete, and then click on remove.
YOUR FILE WILL BE DELETED SUCCESSFULLY.
If you are still unable to delete that file and unlocker shows no application, then follow these steps-
Right-click on the file you want to delete and click unlocker.
    A small window will appear.
In the drop-down list, choose delete, and then click ok.
Your file will be deleted on the next reboot of the system.
  • Add/Remove components error and DVD driver error: Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Original title: Add/Remove components error and DVD driver error

Yesterday, I removed several components of windows to attempt to clean my cpu. After the reboot, I noticed that my DVD drive disappeared. I tried to update the driver but told me I have the most updated version, I uninstalled and reinstalled the drive, but I still get the same error. Under Driver Details, it shows that I have a lot of drivers for my Phillips DVD player. However, the status of the device is the following: Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device. I've done the troubleshooting, and the two options has not fixed the problem.

Then I tried to add windows components that I removed, thinking maybe that was the problem. However, when I try to add them, I get an error message that says: 'Setup cannot copy the file zClientm.ex_' it shows the location of this file as being in windows/i386, and of course, the file is located in this folder. So when I go to browse to locate the file, I find and click on it to open it, but I keep getting the same error message that the file is not found and Setup cannot continue.

I realize that this problem seems very rare and weird, but any help at all would be appreciated. Thank you.
