Remove AOL OE6

I'm changing from AOL to an another ISP problems, I may not be able to delete messages in OE6.

I think part of the IE8 package OE6?

How do I change OE6 to the standard-setting version of AOL?
Thank you
Stem
OE6 has no relationship with IE8. If you delete the AOL account, shouldn't that be? In OE: Tools | Accounts. Delete the AOL account.

  • How to remove AOL Toolbar?

How do I remove this from my Mac OSX 10.9.5
It's a real pain in the rear and I deleted Firefox three times to try to get rid of the AOL toolbar that comes with it. I try it and if I can't fix the problem I have is looking for another browser to use after 15 years with Firefox.

Try to remove the page modules. Either:

    • Command + shift + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons
    • type or paste on: addons in the address bar and press return

In the left column, click Extensions. Then search for AOL on the right side. There should always be an off button, but there might be a delete button depending on how it was installed.

  • AOL have diverted the search bar, deleted all the other engines and disabled the reset.

I noticed that at some point today the search bar was reset to aol. I removed aol in the bar, but now there is NO option to search engine. All done malware also deleted all other options in search bar, disabled by default reset settings and seems to have deleted the folder of drive C search plugins. I tried an add-on to restore the default choice, but it didn't work. I tried to reset Firefox and a system restore. None worked. I copied the folder searchplugins from a backup, but that has not changed anything. I don't see a new Mozilla Firefox folder (34) as indicated in some other threads. I looked into: config and there are new things for aol it but I do not know how to remove them or what, if anything should replace them.

Try to add a google search plugin to firefox.

  • My computer "NOT RESPONDING"

    I have

not sure about any of my info to the computer.  I'm rather new on the thing all computer, while, sort of.  My computer was given to my boyfriend on one of his friends four years ago.  It worked great, then we arrived at AOL, he was about six months, tried to cancel it, for some reason, we couldn't because my boyfriend did not have the security issue.  I thought that if I deleted AOL my computer then maybe they would stop to load our credit card, I was wrong.  Anyway while I was trying to remove Aol all lost control and my computer just went blank I tried to restart and got the famous famous blue screen.  We called a friend of my boyfriend (the sussposially expert, computer), he could not understand he was tired, so he took out our hard drive and I've never seen my hard drive or it since (didn't like him anyway).  In the meantime I still really wanted a computer, but cannot afford to spend money so I started asking people and my friend gave me an old hard drive, knows that he has taken that who knows, I was able to install it and I borrowed my friends WINDOWS program and installed now, I have a working computer.  At first, I was so proud of myself, now, my computer is so slow and getting slower, as if I'm online or simply try to play the lonely spider my computer is always says "NOT RESPONDING" in the blue at the top of all pages.  Can someone try to help, please?

    Thank you!!!

You don't say what operating system you have installed on it.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery Vista disc/s, or recovery disc for any operating system you had originally installed.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

Get the correct recovery disks for it and reinstall any operating system is according to the instructions of the manufacturer of the computer.

    See you soon.

    Hello FJM8:

YOU'RE THE BEST! The 1st solution (see below) was simple and worked like a charm.
I was afraid I was for a fight against you-know-who, this big ISP one who gave me the add-on (or toolbar).
Once again, your instructions were simple and worked super fast.

    Thank you!!!
    Phil

How should I do if it's an add-on?

Use the add-on Manager to remove the toolbar 1. Click on the menu button (upper right corner) and choose Add-ons. Open the tab of the Add-ons Manager. 2. in the tab of the Add-ons Manager, select the Extensions Panel. 3. Select the toolbar you want to delete. 4. click on the button Delete. 5. click on restart now if it appears. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.

  • Removed from the e-mail addresses within OE6 problem with import

I noticed the last person who has asked about it was 3 years ago, and no one responded to him: this forum is dead.  I'm sorry that I've bothered to even register here

Ok. Well well, in this explanation you only mention messages and addresses not which is what was your first post.

1: I need to know how you exported your OE messages, since export only send to Outlook or Exchange and is not a backup program. Please include a link to the 'instructions' , that you followed.

2: BAK files are backup files automatically created when you agree to compact and saved in the Recycle Bin of Windows and sometimes in the OE message store folder.

3: you can not remove and reinstall OE unless you remove and reinstall XP as OE is a part of XP.

4: do not save more than a few MB of messages in any folder in OE, as they become easily corrupted.

    ********************************************

With regard to your current number. You don't miss that items sent to you? Tell me if you have a file sent Items.bak or sent Items.dbx file or both, and note the date of creation for each.

    ********************************************

It's hindsight now, but here are three bits of information that may be useful in the future.

1: your original question could have been resolved in this way:

You have apparent dbx file corruption.

Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and then create new folders to send and sent items box after having moved the messages you want to save to a local folder that you create.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the DBX files for the items in the Outbox and sent and delete them.  New ones will be created automatically when you open OE.

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

    Outlook Express Quick Backup (OEQB):

3: General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

  • Can I remove McAfee by AOL? Removing McAfee effect would use my AOL mail?

    McAfee and AOL

I've been using Webroot anti-virus and Anti-Spyware.  I had McAfee on my computer in the past (I think it was because I use AOL mail).  I noticed that McAfee is still listed in my program folder.  My computer was slow, and I'm looking for things to delete.  Removing McAfee effect would use my AOL mail?

    Hello

I don't think it would affect the use of your AOL email. But make sure that you have another antivirus in place and updated once McAfee is deleted. (That you already have the Webroot program.)

You can use the McAfee removal tool to uninstall the program.

  • Searchbar AOL impossible to remove.

Before we continue, I did the following:

    (1) I disabled and uninstalled the add-on of the AOL toolbar.

    (2) I went to the Control Panel on my computer and uninstall the toolbar.

    (3) I walked in "subject: config ' in the bar of address and re-adjusted all relevant channels for the search bar/address bar (keyword. URL, keyword.enabled, etc..) by DEFAULT/true.

    (4) I restarted my browser with Add-ons disabled.

But for some reason silly, whenever I close my browser and open it again, I use the address bar to search for something and this happens:
    http://i5.Photobucket.com/albums/y155/mango_lemons/whatthe_zps6f2fff35.PNG

And then I come back to about: config and I check out what channels have been reset to:
    http://ImageShack.us/a/img41/5752/aolxxx.PNG

Does anyone know how I can avoid the default search will be replaced by AOL, whenever I restart my browser?

You can check for problems with preferences and rename or delete the file prefs.js and possible numbered prefs-# .js and a user.js file possible to reset all default prefs.
