My computer "NOT RESPONDING"

I have

not sure about any of my info to the computer.  I'm rather new on the thing all computer, while, sort of.  My computer was given to my boyfriend on one of his friends four years ago.  It worked great, then we arrived at AOL, he was about six months, tried to cancel it, for some reason, we couldn't because my boyfriend did not have the security issue.  I thought that if I deleted AOL my computer then maybe they would stop to load our credit card, I was wrong.  Anyway while I was trying to remove Aol all lost control and my computer just went blank I tried to restart and got the famous famous blue screen.  We called a friend of my boyfriend (the sussposially expert, computer), he could not understand he was tired, so he took out our hard drive and I've never seen my hard drive or it since (didn't like him anyway).  In the meantime I still really wanted a computer, but cannot afford to spend money so I started asking people and my friend gave me an old hard drive, knows that he has taken that who knows, I was able to install it and I borrowed my friends WINDOWS program and installed now, I have a working computer.  At first, I was so proud of myself, now, my computer is so slow and getting slower, as if I'm online or simply try to play the lonely spider my computer is always says "NOT RESPONDING" in the blue at the top of all pages.  Can someone try to help, please?

Thank you!!!

You don't say what operating system you have installed on it.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery Vista disc/s, or recovery disc for any operating system you had originally installed.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

Get the correct recovery disks for it and reinstall any operating system is according to the instructions of the manufacturer of the computer.

See you soon.

  • Computer "not responding" when I connect the external hard drive.

    Hi all

When I connect my external hard drive to my laptop, it is detected and the icon for the material appears in the taskbar background. But when I go to my computer, it happens that does not. I can always open other programs etc that are not related to the hard drive, but nothing to do with the hard drive "fails". As soon as I plug it on, the laptop starts responding again. I tried it on another laptop and the same thing happens.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Wendall81,

-How long have you had this problem?

    Follow the steps below:

    Method 1:

Step 1: Boot in safe mode and check if the problem persists.

See Advanced startup options (including safe mode) for more information about starting in safe mode.

Step 2: If the problem does not occur in safe mode, you can put your system to boot (in normal mode) to solve the problem.

See How to solve a problem by performing a boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

    Method 2:

Run a check disk on the external hard drive.

For instructions, see check your drive for errors .

Note: If any bad sectors are found by running the check disk utility and recovery of the attempt of bad sectors option is checked when checking the disk for errors, data in the bad sector can be lost as they tried to recover bad sectors. Gokul - Microsoft Support

  • Satellite A200 - 1 GB: my modem does not work - remote computer is not responding

My A200 - 1 GB modem does not work correctly. It tries to connect, but at last he said computer remote does not respond. As I noticed it has a modem 56kpbs of "I agree."
It is shown as Toshiba Software Modem.

I tried so many times it does not work properly.
I tried changing the COM ports assigned to several other ports like COM1, COM10 COM, COM 4 ext... same thing happens.

When I diagnose the modem via the properties of the modem without issues considered.
Even when I'm component via the modem to a telephone line (I mean as a call) it works fine.
I mean that he can call on a mobile phone or phone of the Earth.

A few times he suddnely connects but connected sppedis 24kpbs.

But the same phone line works correctly with my modem office both as the same as another modem from the laptop.

It seems that there is a fault on my modem 56 k.
I tried even uninstall and reinstall, but the issue still exists.

Can someone help me in this case?

    Hello

I don t think that the modem would be malfunctions.
Fact is that if you use the wrong modem configuration, the line may be busy and the modem would not answer.

I recommend you configure the modem again.
In programs-> Toshiba-> Networking, you would find the Modem region Select utility that must be configured for the same country.
Delete the existing profile and create a new!

    Best regards and good luck

    Hello

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    Method 1:

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  • When the Admin sign on the office comes to the top, but after that the computer does not respond when the user tries to do anything. There are actually turns off the computer with the power button.

    Original title: user profile

My administrator user profile does not work properly, but I have a user profile that has activated the parental control that worked well for about a year and yesterday when this user logs on the desktop comes up, but after that the computer does not respond when that user tries to do anything. There are actually turns off the computer with the power button.  I ran a virus scan and spyware scan in my user admin profile and he has not found anything.  I don't know what to check.

    Hello rhunter15,

There may be a program to interfere with Parental controls so that we can try a few things to see if we can determine the application or program that is causing problems.

First of all, we run System File Checker to see if you have a corrupt file system.

    • Click Start
    • Click on all programs
    • Click Accessories, and then right-click on the command prompt.
    • Select the Security tab and choose "Run as Administrator"
    • Click on command prompt
    • Type SFC/scannow.

It will scan and repair any damaged operating system files.

To determine if there is a program because of a conflict, we recommend that you perform a "clean boot" of the computer. A clean boot is designed to disable programs and services in the background as much as possible. This helps determine which service or program can be the cause of the problem.  For more information about how to perform a clean boot for troubleshooting, click the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

KB 929135 - how to solve a problem of performaing a clean boot in Windows Vista.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Once you have finished the clean boot, check again and see if you get the error of parental control.

If please post again and let us know if that helped pinpoint the problem or if you still need help.

    Thank you
