I tried to restart firefox, I deleted and uninstalled everything related to distance of AVG and I have no extensions of AVG, I deleted the AVG toolbar but safe search is still there! Help, please! Do a clean reinstall and delete the program folder before Firefox to (re) install a new copy of the current version of Firefox.

Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.

If possible to uninstall your current version of Firefox to clean the Windows registry and settings in the security software.

    • Do NOT remove the data personal when you uninstall your current version of Firefox, because all profile files will be deleted and you lose personal data such as bookmarks and passwords from other versions of Firefox profiles.

Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

    • (32-bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    • (Windows 64 bit) "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a uninstall and (re) install, but make sure that 'delete personal data' is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

If you keep problems also create a new profile.

  • How to get rid of avg safe search for files (x 886) programs

I completed the recommendations that a few people had to get rid of him. The only place I see it still is in the folder the file (x 886) programs. What watch is AVG safe search, then under this, 15.50 toolbar updater.

Both will not be deleted. What can I do else?

Note that your list of details of the system shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize some preferences at each start of Firefox.

The user.js file appears only if you or another software created, therefore, normally, he wouldn't be here.
You can check its contents with a text editor if you do not create this file yourself.

The user.js file is read whenever you launch Firefox and initializes the preferences to the value specified in this file, so set of preferences via user.js can be changed temporarily for the current session.

Start the computer in safe mode Windows with networking (press F8 at the startup screen) to see if allows to delete these files.

  • How to get rid positively AVG safe search

I have tried many of the method suggested by the user, but AVG safe Search is not affected or goes away but keeps returning.

I do not understand how it seems to affect the people running Firefox and why Firefox seems to rely completely on the forums and the users suggestions on how to fix it. Why is there not an official response from Firefox this problem which seems to be a problem for a very large number of Firefox users?

  • AVG safe Search appears when I only use Google Search on my home page.

My home page is the default page of Firefox with the Google search bar. I like occasional Firefox messages when I log so I don't want to change my homepage. However, when I use the search bar on my homepage only, I get the unsatisfactory results of AVG safe Search.

UPDATE: I realize has now all the troubleshooting information that I included in my original question is displayed under the link "Details of the system more" beside the question, not in the body of the question. I copied here to make it easier to see what I've done to try to solve the problem, but also to describe one clue that I have that may be relevant:

I tried all the fixes on different threads, but my point: config is now Virgin (no avg or isearch mentions; keyword.url is default). Closest solution for you is to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/866327 , which requires a change of my homepage.

Curiously, AVG safe Search is not a problem when I use Google or search the site of Google toolbar when I use the search bar that appears on my home page (start). This is true even when I return to my home page - if I search from the Google search bar in the middle of the page, I am sent to AVG Safe Search. (isearch.avg.com).

I read in a thread of a suggestion to delete my file chromeappsstore.sqlite in the folder of my profile. As promised, Firefox has created a new when I restarted however, the search bar in the middle of my home home page did not work at all. Tried this three times before restoring my original.

I don't have an application that opens a sqlite file, but I tried to do in Excel and found a cell containing the following text:

    emoh.:moz - security aboutsearch engine {'Name': "AVG safe Search", "searchUrl" ': "http://isearch.avg.com/search?cid={7A3C25A0-E345-4507-AA31-D98F596A81A9}" & mid = c48135235ba247d18ac1d14b344db451-addd29eab2809954d5abdf0b991a5b911a297819 & ds = is015 & lang = en & v = 10.0.0.7 & pr = his = d & sap dsp = & q = _searchTerms_ "}

I have no idea what this means, but it's the only thing I can find related to Firefox which mentions again AVG and isearch.avg.com.

At this point, my best guess (but that's a guess) is that the chromeappsstore.sqlite file is a key for a complete solution, but I don't have enough knowledge to go beyond and address it. I appreciate any help anyone can offer.

I think I solved the problem. As someone who has used occasionally used Access and other database applications, I had to first find a free app that would allow me to change chromeappsstore.sqlite. Then, I needed instructions on how change. I found the answers to these two questions to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/779082 . Thank you Dr. Watson; awaits my needs 10 months ago!

I don't think I'd be able to formulate my questions clearly enough to find the solution without posting here first.

For the people who try this solution do not know databases: make sure that you save a copy of the chromeappsstore.sqlite before trying this fix. You cannot save a copy under a different name of the sqlitebrowser application (or at least, I couldn't find a function "save under").

  • "AVG safe search" is obviously a kind of malware that attaches to FF. Mozilla is working on kill him?

See, for example, http://techdows.com/2011/09/removing-avg-secure-search-as-search-engine-in-firefox.html. Since it is diverting a Mozilla product, the apparent indifference of Mozilla is disconcerting.

So I had this same problem, but I uninstalled the toolbar, but the search engine problem that I couldn't fix. I went directly to the AVG site for a fix and found this Web page:AVG Forums
The solution worked well for me, just follow the instructions.

When your notice first popped up asking me if I wanted to update, he said with him that he had not yet the ability to run AVG safe search bar. So I waited to download the new version until you have this feature.

Sorry, but you will be waiting a long time for FF access this feature! It is a problem with AVG not Firefox. You don't say what version of AVG you are using, but if you upgrade to AVG 2012 your problem is solved.

Safe Search extension is not compatible with Firefox 6.0

Mozilla has released their new browser Firefox 6.0 for the public. Unfortunately, the AVG Safe Search extension is not compatible with this version of browser yet (example screenshot). We found a few glitches in our internal tests and the developers are working on their rectification. A new update of the AVG program will be released soon support fully implemented. You may also notice that some other Firefox extensions are not compatible, as the cycle of development of Firefox is very rapid.

Please rest assured you are still protected by AVG even if you have already upgraded to Firefox 6.0. The AVG Active Surf Shield component is still checking all data and will prevent you from accessing malicious content even though search results verdict icons are not available temporarily.

  • Remove the grouped "AVG Safe Search.

Yesterday I've updated for Adobe Flash 11 because I got a black screen problem in Firefox (but not IE) during playback of videos flash and pdf. After updating the browser restarted and suddenly, I had "AVG Safe Toolbar" - no where in the installation it asked me if we could install anything else, nor does he even warned me it would be. I tried to remove, but so far all I can only disable it. It does not appear in the Add/Remove Programs list, and even AVG removal tool would not work. Uninstalling Flash does not work, and I can't find its registry entries. These are all symptoms of malicious software, and it is not legal to Adobe to do that.

How to remove (not just disable) this malware that Adobe put on my computer? I don't like what it is, if I consent to it being installed I have the right to say no to it.

"I got the Vista taskbar notification that an update is ready.  I clicked to install.  I didn't opt-out for what it is. »

    Juliana,

    Read this slowly and carefully...

You don't have the update from here. Adobe does bundle AVG anti-virus or AVG any product with its updates.

You downloaded from a third party site, probably you are prompted and linked through adware.

I am constantly uninstalling, reinstalling and updating test four machines all week day after long day-out and only ONE Bundle of software I have EVER seen (with XP, Vista SP2, SP1 WIn7 and WIn8) are:

Google Chrome (with the Google toolbar)

    Norton Security scan

    McAffee security analysis

Adobe Lightroom (30 days trial - Mac only)

You can call me 'dead wrong' all you want but the REALITY is my source for the info I posted and it will prevail over ANY argument that you can do as you do not download the update with AVG inside of here! Updates to Flash Player don't popup in the taskbar. Notice of adware and malware on updates of the taskbar popup. You have been infected before you ever had this "update" and it's NOT for lack of Adobe.

If EVER you doubt the authenticity of an update notice ALWAYS go for the software developer DIRECTLY update. You can check the updates through Flash Player global settings (a simple right click on ANY Flash content will get it there) under the Advanced tab IF you can't or won't, then you DESERVE everything you download without checking it first!

  • With Firefox 4.0, I see that the AVG safe search add-on antivirus is now disabled. Will there be a new add-on for AVG in the future?

With previous versions of Firefox, this add-on is always enabled. The 4.0 version now says it's incompatible.

I use this one that works as well: Dr. Web AV Link Checker

  • How can I remove avg isearch

Since I installed Avg free 2012 I was forced to put up with Avg isearch appearing on every page that I didn't have before, that I hate it when something is imposed on me and I think that it is completely unfair that I have not the last word if I want it or not. I would appreciate your team could be a solution to this problem that I can not find one myself. I tried to delete this several ways in which none worked. I disabled the addon, uninstalled Avg free 2012, crossed the linkscanner Avg settings and disabled people and all its parameters and I'm still stuck with it. I'd asked Avg to help, but you can get help from avg if you have a paid version of Avg and besides Avg has probably in some way. Here's the very simple solution to remove from Firefox AVG safe search.
    1. go in Firefox "Help".
    2. click on "restart with disabled modules.
    3. click on "restart".
    4. the browser closes and a popup box will open.
    5. Select 'Reset all the preferences of the user by default Firefox'.
    6. click on "make changes and restart".

    That should do it.
