  Just to add to the response of cor - el, in my case (identical) was specifically the complement DivX HiQ, worm 2.1.0.900. As soon as I turned it off, the tabs started to behave normally again.

  Step 1: I suggest to start the computer in safe mode with network and check if the problem persists.

  Suggest you make a copy of the site first in case you need to go back to the beginning

  Find: all of the current Local Site

  Search: Specific tag = "img".
