Remove the Microsoft Games folder

Hello.  I use the version OEM of Windows 7 on my desktop HP Pavilion image.  I want to remove the Microsoft Games of the system folder because I do not play games on the computer, and the folder takes place.  But whenever I try to delete it, it tells me that I need the permission of the system.  How can I remove it?  Delete this particular issue negatively affect the computer?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello

Remove the built-in Microsoft games can not free a lot of space. But, you can disable these games of Control Panel.

I want to delete Microsoft Games to free up space on my internal hard drive, but getting a warning that deletion could cause problems with other programs. I don't have any idea what to do.

You are DELETING or uninstalling?  They usually have different meanings.  If you uninstall, you should be safe.  If you try to delete files or folders, which can lead to problems.

    Good luck.

  • How can I remove the old Windows folder to a different drive?

Original title: Old files Windows, Program Files, etc.

I tried to use before Disk Cleanup and it worked, and I haven't run a complete installation.

I'm having a problem now, this time, and I did a full install.  Disk Cleanup doesn't show any options to remove an old Windows as it did before.

How can I remove the old Windows folder to a different drive?  I also try to remove the Program Files folder, as well as with an implementation since.

It is showing an error message "I need to be in the Administrators group ~", and that TrustedInstaller is owner of the present.

I have a question that "TrustedInstaller" has full authority on the file system, and 'Administrators' has limited access.

I noticed that there are other three to make a total of four names of users who have all or nearly full access to the file system.

Can it be fixed... it's pretty annoying to see this continue..., strictly through Windows Update.

I look forward to your reply.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community Forums.

No need to worry, we're here to help you and guide you in the right direction.

The windows.old folder is the old system files. Be sure to copy all the files that you can out of the Windows.old folder before you delete it. Once deleted, they are gone. You must be logged in as an administrator to be able to do the steps.

The Windows.old folder contains the following folders:

    • Windows
    • "Documents and Settings".
    • "Program Files."

The Windows folder stores mainly programs and files that are required to run the previous version of Windows.

The "Documents and Settings" folder stores mainly the 'My Documents' folder and the Favorites folder. In addition, the "Documents and Settings" folder stores the office files that have been used by the previous version of Windows.

The "Program Files" folder stores mainly programs have been installed on the earlier version of Windows.

There are two ways to delete the windows.old folder. Here is the simple step.

Method 1: Delete the C drive.

    (a) open Windows Explorer, click computer.

    (b) select C drive and you will find the Windows.old folder.

    (c) make a right click on the folder and click Remove.

Method 2: Remove the "Windows.old" folder using disk cleanup

    (a) open Disk Cleanup by clicking on the button Windows + C to open the bar of charms. Click on the charm of the Search .

    (b) type cleanmgr in Search Applications box in the right pane, and then click cleanmgr.exe (disk cleanup) in the left pane to open it.

    (c) If you are prompted to choose a drive, click the drive that you have just installed Windows on and then click OK.

    (d) in the Disk Cleanup dialog box, on the Disk Cleanup tab, click clean up system files.

    (e) If you are again prompted to choose a drive, click the drive that you have just installed Windows on and then click OK.

    (f) select the Previous Windows installations check box and the other check boxes for files that you want to remove, and then click OK.

    (g) in the message that appears, click delete files.

Let us know the status of the issue. If you need help, I'll be more than happy to help you.

  • Why Windows 8 allow me to remove the Windows.old folder?

I upgraded my computer to Windows 7 to Windows 8, a few months ago, when Windows 8 came. It is my understanding that when you perform an upgrade of Windows from one version to the other, it can save a lot of files and folders under the folder Windows.old. And I understand that you can delete the Windows.old folder.

In other words, I don't think.

The reason why I do not think it is because whenever I tried to delete Windows.old, it stops for me with this error:

And when I said to 'Try Again' he begins from the beginning? HE DOES ALL THIS TIME! This should not do this, as I did do procedure on other machines that I've updated and he's NEVER done that, but not on this machine? Why in hell does?

    Hi Rod

You must use the disk cleanup utility to remove the Windows.old folder. See the following article for step by step instructions.

I have updated all drivers for my software, including the graphics card. Can someone help me with what I or my little girl can't use the application of games.

    Hello

    1. the problem occurs only with the Microsoft games?

    2. did you of recent changes made to your computer before the problem?

    3. are you referring to the Explorer of games that are pre-installed in Windows 7 or Microsoft games that require intense graphics?

Unfortunately there is no such feature which keeps track of the information of deleted files. However, you can check the trash on the network to see if the deleted file's still in there.

If it's all the .exe you can download and run this fix, it is quite easy for you to do it yourself.

Just click on the .exe box to download the file.  After downloading, unzip it to extract the .reg file to a folder.  As an administrator you then double-click the .reg file unpacked I hope to fix that the associations to open .exe files.  Answer 'yes' to all the guests received during this process.  At completion, reboot and test.
